I called last minute to make an appointment on a Saturday and the stylist was able to see me early in the morning . I arrived 10 minutes late because of a race but he still greeted me with a big smile. Receptionist and staff were very helpful and courteous on the phone. I love my color, the efficiency of the service and my haircut was exactly what I wanted... Which never happens! I highly recommend this place. read more

By far the best hair salon in DC. Just ask Reese Witherspoon! Seriously I found this salon through an article in Vogue that talked about how Hollywood comes to this salon when they come to town. Turgay cuts my hair and for the first time in my life, I love my hair every time I leave this place. I have naturally curly hair and he knows how to make it look great straight or curly. It's hard to get appointments because the stylists are really popular but worth trying. I moved to DC from NYC and used to only get my hair cut in NY because I couldn't find anyone in DC who did a good job until I found this place. A true gem. Look no further. I made An appointment for a cut and blow dry and got a call back from the salon to confirm it. When I arrived there seemed to be confusion about my appointment (weren't able to find it?) and who was available to cut my hair. As this was my first visit, it did not make me feel confident about my decision to come give this place a try. I finally ended up with a gentleman who had formerly been a stylist at the four seasons across the street who recently moved over to this salon. During the cut he seemed distracted by the other clients in the salon and people popping in to say hi. I was unsure of what this would mean for my hair. However, despite splitting his attention, my haircut was spot on. One of the best cuts I've ever gotten. Conclusion: I gave this visit 3 stars because it was so bumpy from the get go, but there is a lot of potential for a better experience next time. The salon recently changed ownership, so I would expect that it takes some time to work through the issues I encountered. The actual haircut was so good that I would suggest this place to others, but with fair warning about the service and the high prices. read more

Ondar has been my hair stylist for 7 years. His work is by far the best I have seen throughout several salons in the United States and Europe, including Paris. Extremely detail oriented and TALENTED. My friend and I won a gift certificate here at a silent auction. It's a more upscale spa than some, but not as fancy as I expected which isn't really good or bad to me. It's clean. I got my first facial which I GREATLY enjoyed. I was kind if confused because I was told facials were actually not really enjoyable, but mine definitely was very relaxing. So I don't know if that it means it won't have the effects it was supposed to or not. My friend got a massage but said she didn't go for the whole time and stopped 4 minutes or so short and didn't focus on the areas she asked her to focus on where she had tension so she was pretty disappointed understandably. We both got pedicures and manicures. I loved the fact that they had Deborah lipmann polishes to use!! I'd say it wasn't the best quality nail work but also not the worst. My friend's definitely turned out more sloppy than mine so again, disappointment. No one also told my friend about the cost of removing the shellac but they didn't end up charging her for it in the end which was very nice. The receptionists were both very friendly also. I'm not sure I would come back again given that I could probably find these services offered for a more affordable price but maybe. I also chat comment on the hair salon services they offer but when I walked our there did seem to be a bunch of women with great hair! read more

I've visited a number of salons in the DC area, and can confidently say that you can trust your hair to their masterful hands, and that its worth every penny. Turgay is amazing. Earlier this week I has a horrible cut at a different salon in DC. Having seen Turgay's reviews on Yelp, I made an appointment with him to see if he could fix the damage. He was great - he really listened to what I wanted, carefully cut my hair, and along the way paused several times to ask if I liked what he was doing. I called yesterday morning for a facial after my skincare line, Murad, recommended the salon to me (they use their products that I have been using for 5 years). I was thrilled with all the time that Linda took to get a feel for my skin. She explained everything that she was doing and gave me really helpful tips. I found Kazim when I moved my office to Georgetown five years ago and have been going to him ever since. I love what he has done with my hair and get lots of compliments now, on the color especially. I have curly hair and have a hard time finding hairdressers who are good with it. In fact, I tried several other places in Georgetown before I discovered Kazim at Georgetown Salon and Spa. One other thing I love about him is that if I have reading I want to get done he doesn't talk too much like some hairdressers. He strikes just the right balance. read more

I have been seeing Linda at Georgetown Salon and Spa for the last 13 years. I have followed her from Tara Salon to Toka Salon and now to Georgetown Salon and Spa (which used to be Tara). Linda primarily does waxing services for me, and is the best I have ever had. The waxing never hurts, and she takes a lot of care with my eyebrows, making sure they are even and polished. I also go to Linda for facials and massages on occasion, and both are excellent. After her facials, my skin always has a glow. Her massages are great because if you ask, she can use very deep pressure (which is my preference), but she can also be more gentle if that is your preference. I highly recommend Linda for all three services. read more

I just moved here from the Palm Beach area and was apprehensive about trying a new salon -- I have wavy/curly hair and have had some "iffy" cuts from high end places in the past. DJ did a nice job communicating/consulting with me before cutting, then did a great job with the cut, adding some layers & shape around my face while keeping the back and sides from poofing out, if you know what I mean. :) Today I went back for color, and she matched it exactly. DJ is very nice and chatty if you want but will give you quiet time, too. The shampooing chair & sink were comfy (always important!), and Nellie (sp?) the shampooer did a great job. I will definitely go back. The only drawback both times I've been has been at the front desk -- the appointments were made fine, but the employees there seem preoccupied and don't do a good job focusing on the customer at the counter, saying thanks, hello/goodbye, noticing when the receipt is signed or that I have a question, etc. read more

There is a reason why TV anchors and movie stars are Onder's loyal clients... Onder is simply magic. He gives the best haircut of your life. I frequented top salons in the UAE, London and New York and came to Onder two years ago after moving to DC. At my first visit, I explained for several minutes how extremely picky I am about my hair. Onder waited patiently as I went on and on, then he smiled and said, "No one is pickier than me." It must be true; I could not believe the BEAUTIFUL result! He is particularly brilliant at layering, somehow avoiding the ever-dredded "ledge effect" and instead ending up with blended, femine layers that fall perfectly around my face and shoulders, even as my hair grows out. I receive compliments on my hair from men and women after stepping out of the salon and into the months that follow. If the truth of a good haircut is in the first wash at home, I always find Onder's cuts to be practically wash-and-wear (I don't really have to style because the cut is already a style. I can let my hair air dry or blow dry or curl, depending on how much time I have, and it always seems to look voluminous and amazing). Needless to say, I now refer all of my friends to Onder, and they all sing his praises. One friend said she received the best color job she has ever had and has now left her hairstylist of many years in favor of Georgetown Salon Spa. If you are a very picky woman in DC, please go here for your hair and relax. Today, when I go in for a cut or style, I simply sit back, enjoy a glass of wine, and trust Onder to do as he likes. If you want celebrity quality cuts/color/highlights this is the place to get them! I've been a client of owner Turgay Yavuz for 15 years (I followed him and his fellow stylists when they broke away from George at the Four Seasons) and I'd never go anywhere else. I get compliments on my highlights and cut all the time-- I can't tell you how many people I've recommended this salon to because of it. They have many celebrity clients (senior women in U.S. government and nationally known television news personalities) with good reason, all the stylists are great at their craft and 100% focused on taking care of their clients.
