My items are the beets with walnuts and beans with walnuts which are $9.99 a pound. They were both good and I spread it on toasted baguette. First time trying Georgian food and this place is already setting a high standard! I live in the neighborhood and have always walked around this area (even before this was a Georgian Deli and Bakery) but never tried it because I honestly had no idea what to order. Luckily, they have their whole menu online so I was able to decide on what I wanted to try beforehand. I got the meat pie and mushroom pie - both of which were sooo soft and warm when I got them and although a bit on the blander side, was perfect for my tastes. Highly recommend this and would love to try their other baked goods! I also ordered the Eggplant Stew because I love eggplants. No regrets! It was really good with other veggies like tomato and bell peppers as well. If you're not a fan of cilantro, like me, you can taste it for sure but it didn't bother me too much. It was something my palette wasn't ready for. It just felt very heavy because it was very cheesy so I couldn't really finish the whole thing. Even the outer sides have cheese inside. I would've assumed that there was no cheese there, based on the anatomy of pizza, because it looks like crust. But I was wrong. The texture was great. Preordered a Napoleon (2lbs to be exact) for pick up and it was the perfect amount for about 9 people with even a little tiny left over! This is one of my favorite bakeries in the neighborhood for when I'm craving something sweet. I've tried most of the items off their desert menu and have yet to be disappointed. Reasonably priced for the big portions you get. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful when you're unsure what you want or have questions about anything off the menu. The pkhalis here are wonderful! What are pkhalis? They are chopped salads with vegetables, ground walnuts, vinegar, garlic, and herbs, with a pate-like texture. Spinach, beets, and green beans are the most common vegetable versions. Somehow I missed this important part of Georgian cuisine when I was in Tbilisi two years ago, but I'm glad to have finally discovered them! This deli offers delectable authentic Georgian baked goods, soups, salads, appetizers, and other prepared dishes. The woman at the register was so friendly and spoke good English. She generously allowed me to try a number of the pkhalis, including the beet pkhali, eggplant pkhali, and the spinach pkhali (all A$7.99/lb). The last one stood out--the texture and flavor were perfect. In fact, the Eastern European-looking female customer behind me told me that she actually came to the deli specifically for the spinach pkhali. Most of the prepared deli foods are charged by weight from around $5.99 to $8.99 per pound, but are quite reasonably priced from what I can tell. Some of the other offerings included ajapsandali (eggplant stew), lobio (beans) with walnuts, kuchmachi (chicken liver, gizzards, and heart dish), mushroom soup, chakhokhbili (chicken and tomato stew), bazhe sauce (with walnuts, garlic, and herbs), bazhe chicken, and holodets (jellied meat dish). A great addition to the neighborhood. I've never had Georgian anything before and was excited to check out what this place had to offer. Although I haven't had a chance to explore the entire menu yet, there are tons of options for meat and veggie lovers so you're sure to find something that suits your palate. I've been here several times so far and had mostly pleasant experiences. On most visits, I come for the Khacapuri (cheese bread) it does not disappoint. I always seem to get lucky and buy the batch that's fresh out of the oven. Their khacapuri is warm, fluffy, and cheesy goodness. You can buy the bread by the slice or a whole pie which they can slice it into as many pieces you want. I believe it's around $3 for a slice and $8 for the pie, but check the menu. On my first visit, the staff was welcoming and offered suggestions, even showed me what each item looked like since I didn't know where to start. The second tiem around, I came for more Khacapuri and also left with beef and potato kubdari (flatbread pie). The kubdari was about the length of half of a hero bread and were savory. Total was about $28 for a cheese bread pie and four kubdari breads. I left without purchasing anything on my third visit because of poor service. I waited for more than 10 minutes, was visibly the next person in line, but they let a couple who entered the store cut me. Lady at the register didn't say a word. Now, I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that they honestly didn't see me (being short, I do sometimes go easily unnoticed LOL) because it does happen, so not a deal breaker. I was lured back here by my cheese bread craving and on visit four bought two khacapuri's and beef kubdaris. Cheese bread was a little salty for my liking this time but the beef kubdaris were great as always. Slightly oil, yes but tasty. The place has a few different options but you can tell it is VERY authentic which I loved. I came and ordered the cheese pie and the cabbage pie. Both had great flavor and the dough was perfectly cooked. The cheese pie was especially good because the cheese had a beautiful taste to it. It was not overpowering and it was not oily. Khachapuri, it seems, has been having a moment in BK and someone forgot to tell me. I first remember trying this heavenly Georgian bread a bunch of years ago at a little bakeshop on Neptune Avenue. When that closed, I found another spot am blanking on, but it wasn't quite as revelatory. Then I kind of forgot about it until recently when I had a sudden craving and discovered there are now numerous places that offer Khachapuri. Who knew? Ultimately, I settled on this little takeout shop and bakery: Now for the uninitiated, Khachapuri is like a soft, airy, topping-less stuffed pizza, layered in the middle with stretchy, buttery, salty cheese. The version from here may well be the best I've ever had. For $7, you get a Frisbee-sized doughy disk that can be cut into four generous slices. Other items I tried were more up and down. Wound up preferring the earthy Beet Pkhali over the distinctively perfumey tasting Spinach rendition. And the Chicken Tabaka, aka butterflied chicken cooked 'under a brick,' that hubby ordered on a whim disappointed with its flaccid skin and ho hum seasoning. Mini Meat Pie was tasty and I only wish I'd gotten some of the other fillings, like Mushroom and Cabbage, too. Random Thoughts: Appreciated the patient, kind service and offerings of samples from the Deli Case. But a big line began forming behind us, making it stressful to decide on what to order. Especially since there are no written descriptions of the various items and not all the baked goods are visibly displayed. I found myself wishing I'd jotted down recs on what was good beforehand. If you're trying any of the ground walnut and veggie Pkhalis, by all means grab a long, torpedo-shaped loaf of Shoti bread, which is this spread's traditional accompaniment. (Though truth be told, I far preferred the Spinach and Beet versions that we brought home as dips for bagel chips!) Wrapped in foil, Khachapuri reheats beautifully in the oven @ 325. This is located in a VERY congested area. Parking is a b*tch. Bottom Line: Stick with the carby creations from here and it's hard to imagine going wrong. My only regret is not getting a second Khachapuri to stow in the freezer for when my next craving hits. read more

Pleasant service and staff, who helped explained a few of the dishes I was curious about. There's no standing or seating area for eating. It's simply a small shop. While there I browsed the incredible selection of Georgian spices and mixes. A friend of mine got two bottles of kompote while picked up plum sauce as a gift for their father. At the park later we feasted on glorious cheese and bread in two different styles. We also had stuffed breads with cabbage, meat and potato and even a couple of their intricate and (also cheese filled desserts).
