I love this place. A 24/7 convenient store and deli serving up amazing sandwiches and wraps? Incredible. This place has it all. I got the New Yorker based off suggestions from Yelp and it was fantastic. It comes with spicy chicken cutlet, 3 pepper Colby jack cheese, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo. I said no avocado and bacon and it was delicious. The staff were super nice and patient while I was deciding on what to get. The New Yorker comes with spicy chicken cutlet so I swapped it with plain chicken cutlet and I'm glad I did since their chipotle mayo definitely had a kick to it. All in all, SO good. A bunch of other Yelpers also recommend the "Chopped cheese" and that looks sooo good. I know what I'm getting next time! read more

Loved this little deli! Being from CA we don't have places like this. This is quintessential NYC. And I'm so glad we stopped here. This was just a few blocks from our hotel and looked like it had a lot of great breakfast sandwich options, so we had to try it out. This place literally has everything you could want or need. It's a grocery store mixed with a deli, mixed with a convenient store. We got the Hungry Man and the Giants. And both were really good. The bagels were fresh, the eggs were cooked perfectly, the meat was seared. The service was quick and the guys working were very friendly. read more

Found on yelp! I was a little hesitant to eat lunch here but honestly it is the cleanest deli! I ordered a green juice which was phenomenal and a Caesar salad wrap sub salmon! It was seriously so tasty and hit the spot. They even gave me a mini lays with the wrap! The wrap was wrapped perfectly and the sandwich did not get soggy on my walk home. Visiting NY for the first time one of the things I was told to get was a Bacon, Egg & Cheese on a roll. While staying in Brooklyn, I did a little search and noticed this was just a 10 min walk from where I was staying. Walking in, its a full blown convenience store and look like they stock some great items, even English chocolate bars and sweets! Ordering was a cinch and very straightforward. Service was also very quick and soon I was walking away with my food. The sandwich was unbelievably good! Even my daughter who doesnt care much for eggs, thoroughly enjoyed it. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was crisp but not shattering to the bite and the cheese was nice and melted in the eggs. So simple yet so good and these guys have it down! I enjoyed it so much I returned two days later for their Ham, sausage, bacon, egg & cheese. Also very good, however, I think I preferred the simplicity of the first. read more

I found this place on Yelp and I am so thankful that I did! The place was clean and well stocked. The food itself was fairly priced and REALLY good!! We got chopped beef sandwiches and they were amazing. I am not from the area but if I was, I'd be a regular here a few times a week, no questions asked. If I ever return to NYC, I will definitely make sure to stop by and get a few sandwiches. I highly recommend! read more

They have very good wraps but they've overcharged me twice now. One time was this morning- I thought it was an honest mistake and said I only got one wrap and one roll and he said oh and then acted like he was updating the total but didn't. Very odd. I don't think I'll be coming back because a lot of their reviews call out being overcharged and not taking accountability. It's a bummer because they really do have some good wraps! read more

Overall, excellent smoothies, sandwiches, and prices! I was so impressed with this place. I am so picky about breakfast and stress about how I'll get a balanced breakfast when I travel. I returned every day I was there because everything was so delicious and a great price. They had fun drinks, good coffee, and most essential groceries. I loved this place and was otherwise a happy loyal patron until today. I asked for bagel toasted with butter and then spread of cream cheese as last time I got a bagel with half cream cheese and half butter which nearly gave me a heart attack from the first bite. The gentleman making the food informed me he wouldn't be able to toast with butter. I kindly let him know then just the cream cheese and no butter. The guy next to him mumbled something under his breath and after asking him what he said he said nothing. I was up the block when I realized I was given a bagel with nothing! Clearly the man behind the counter doesn't like to be told what to do. I walked back and asked for a refund and was given $1 with no apology. Loved our visit to Smiths! It's a one-stop shop. There is a small grocery store in the back while you wait for your fresh deli sandwich (hot or cold) to be made. We ordered the Philly and the pastrami sandwiches (I can't remember exactly the names). One thing that I absolutely loved and what stuck out to me-is that these guys know their stuff! Like 3-4 people came in after us to order and the cook didn't write one thing down-but got everyone's order right! And in a timely fashion! You can't beat that. These guys are pros! The sandwiches themselves were delicious. Flavorful. No offense, but better than sandwiches we had in Manhattan. I'll be adding this to my favs list for the next time we visit the city! read more

If you're in the mood for a late night crave (and I mean any time as they are open 24 hours unlike basically every other place in the area,) this is the best spot. Cheap tasty food (under ten bucks mostly) with sandwiches all served with chips. Also a noted drink selection compared to most places (both soft drinks/water/health drinks) as well as a surprisingly good selection of craft beers and some macrobreweries. The only place I know of with more soft drinks in the area is probably the new location of Dumbo Market further down on Smith. It's one of those places that's really difficult to complain about. One of the best bodegas I've been to in NYC, hands down. Stocked with great options as a bodega, clean. The staff is also friendly and you'll see neighborhood locals come in and chop it up with the staff all the time. The sandwiches here are FANTASTIC. Prob my fave Chopped Cheese in NYC. Shoutout to Sam behind the counter who always gives the best service and sandwiches. Big love to this place for also holding it down for all hours of the day, whether it's a Chopped Cheese after a night out, a quick grocery pickup, or a lunchtime Chicken Parm sandwich grab. This place is a godsend. Open 24/7, with friendly service, reasonable prices, extremely clean, and a killer sandwich selection (it's a bit like the Sunny & Annie's of Brooklyn). I ordered the New Yorker: spicy chicken cutlet, Colby pepper jack cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, chipotle mayonnaise on hero. I'm not sure the ingredients make me think "New Yorker", but whatever! The sandwich is really freaking good. Moist chicken, not too spicy, crispy bacon - plus it's $9.50 before tax and comes with a bag of chips. Can't beat that. read more

Visiting Brooklyn for the week, went out with some friends and had a few drinks, came back to the hotel and needed a bite to soak up some booze but room service was closed for the night. Walked over to Smith Gourmet. Thoroughly impressed. Got a healthy wrap. Solid roasted peppers and chicken was fresh. 24 hours. Quality sandwich making. Excellent selection of snacks, drinks, and beer. Nice guys. This is just about all I can ask from a local deli. When it hasn't been my day, my week, my month, or even my year, I know Smith Gourmet is going to be there for me. They'll be there when I need a chicken cutlet sandwich at 2 am. They'll be there when I need a bacon egg and cheese at 11 am. They'll be there when I need some Tate's cookies and milk. They'll be there with wraps and smoothies if I'm feeling "healthy." They'll be there when nobody else has Guinness draught cans, because the bottles just aren't the same. They'll be there for me when the rain starts to pour. Like they've been there before. read more

Glad I came across this deli while searching on Yelp! Fresh made sandwiches for fair prices. I enjoyed my Turkey club panini which even included a bag of potato chips. Me and my husband ordered the lasagna it took so long to come but again we understood it was busy. It was worth the wait so delicious. The girls had a pizza they absolutely loved it. I had pinot grigio nice cold and refreshing. My husband first got a stella on draft then got a old fashioned he said it was the best he's ever had so that says something. I was in the mood for pasta but I didn't see anything on the menu with something like broccoli and garlic with olive oil. We also saw a few ants but as long as they weren't roaches it wasn't a big deal lol

When the hype got large enough, the owner decided to start a pizzeria and the rest is not history. This is one of the more worthwhile TGTG orders to me. This location only sold vegan options in full pies and their other DOP Fast Life location does sell vegan slices, but they didn't try to push me to buy. I came back today and the staff today were also very welcoming. Ambiance 5/5: Rustic red brick interior with warm lighting. It was definitely bustling on a Friday night. Food 5/5: Delicious pizza. I do regret that I ate it cold after driving 30 minutes to pick it up so I did not get the full experience. But the crust was still crunchy. I do wish the toppings were a little heavier but the tomato chunks in the sauce tasted very fresh. A very classic New York style pizza and I couldn't even tell it wasn't real cheese. Vegan garlic knots were great too.

There are plenty of seats: tables and high top tables. Their menu offers a bit of everything from soup, sandwiches, quiche and pastries. There is a nice option of beverages hot/cold. Today, was a bit damp so I ordered a hot chai with bite size checkerboard cookies to dip. The barista was very pleasant and I found a seat while waiting for my chai. I see a lot of patrons working in laptops, some meeting up to talk and sip and even the barista chatted with a local patron. Love it! My chai was piping hot and absolutely delicious. The chai was frothy, rich, the black tea leaves infused with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, sweetener, and milk. I savored every sip and complimented the barista. It is always great to find a new coffee place. I expect to be a loyal local at Velvette Brew. They also host music events and have a collaboration with Cry Baby Ice Cream. It is located in the heart of Park Slope. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Velvette Brew 279 5th Avenue B63 to 3rd and 5th or R to Union Street, 10 minute walk.
