Was greeted and sat by our waitress when we came in. When it was decided we would only be drinking water we had the option of tap, bottled, and sparkling. We went with the good ole free tap water. The restaurant is decorated like what I could imagine a home in Italy would look like. We dined at lunch time but still decided on the 24 oz boneless ribeye for two. That came with crispy potatoes and spinach. While we were waiting for our food we ate some really nice homemade bread that came with olive oil for dipping. Our steak was so tender my husband had beeb cutting his with a butter knife when he noticed his steak knife was on the table still next to his place. Our steak was seasoned beautifully and there was not a piece left over. Normally I prefer a butter or sauce for my potatoes. However, these potatoes were seasoned so well and crispy it wasnt needed. Now I left the spinach for last because I dont eat it. My husband ate it and he enjoyed it because it was not bitter! Second visit for a family birthday last night and they exceeded our first fantastic impression. Service is unmatched. The feel is literally as if we are in a Tuscan farm home. There is not a more welcoming and comfortable place I can think of. The food backs it up - which is the main point. My only suggestion for first-time diners, perhaps ask your server if the chef will consider delaying courses a bit. In our group of four, we wanted to try/share 4 different apps and a meat and cheese board. Because of their dedication to a promptly and accurately coursed meal, all four apps and the boar all arrived at the time time (by design). It was my first time eating at Geppetto's and I was extremely impressed, not only with the layers of flavor in the food, but the technique and execution of these dishes. While the entire meal started off with a salad, of course, the next appetizer was the tagliatelle Bolognese and the pasta was definitely the main star of the dish. I could tell that the pasta was homemade as it was very light and flavorful. The Bolognese itself was well balanced and not acidic. I chose the lamb for dinner and I was very happy with the port wine reduction, and impressed with the light compliment of the sunchoke puree. The herb crust executed on the lamb was extremely flavorful and not too earthy. While I was really going back-and-forth between the Seabass and the lamb I am happy. I chose the lamb for the main course. Panna cotta for dessert and I'm happy I chose a lighter option to fishing the evening. I feel like after all of the courses I had the Panna cotta really completed the meal. It was perfectly silky. I could tell the cream was delicately infused with lemon and the blackberry couli was a nice touch to add a level of flavor to the dessert which didn't overpower the panna cotta itself. Overall, I'm really impressed. Especially since I was in attendance with a large party. All of our dishes came out in a timely manner and were well spaced to really appreciate each dish. The cocktail menu and the wine selection was also very impressive and I feel like the amount of options were well balanced, many of which would complement each dish. Our service was great! The servers were friendly, personable, and very prompt with bringing out each dish. I especially appreciated how authentic each server was. The girls we had were especially helpful in assisting us in our selections in which options to choose off the menu based on their favorites. Overall, I would highly recommend coming to this restaurant if you want, authentic, flavorful, and delicious homemade Italian dishes. Full bar and a handful of interesting beers options available by the can / bottle. I had a Kolsch from a nearby craft brewery called Brewery Legitimus. We started with the radicchio salad. Generously dressed and topped with coarsely grated cheese. Our next two items were served together as mains. We had the agnolotti and the sea bass. Agnolotti were packed with a short rib and leek filling and smothered in a creamy mushroom sauce. Dish was on the rich and earthy side. Certainly to my liking. The sea bass was served over a bed of spinach along with olives, capers , grape tomatoes, and a light broth. This was more on the salty and vinegary side. Fun pairing of mains. They provide complimentary sour dough bread. We asked for a refill to soak up every bit of sauce. For dessert, we shared one of the tarts. My wife loved it. Service was knowledgeable and attentive. We went to Geppetto because we heard great reviews. For appetizer we have the polenta con taleggio it was good just needed a lot more Parmesan cheese to kick it up a notch. I ordered the Rack of lamb it was cooked perfectly, tender, and tasted delicious but it only had three chops very small portion. My guest had ordered Agnolotti di brasato fill with short rib and leeks outstanding taste ,the pasta was very moist and light. The sauce on top was delicious. The atmosphere was very rustic cute little hide out. Lots of old antiques plenty of things to look at all along the walls lots of Old antique Pinocchio dolls. I love the atmosphere. Came back to this very good Italian restaurant in Torrington CT. Food is still great, service is good and I'm glad they are still doing well. I think the menu has changed since the last time I was there, no more bruschetta as an appetizer and the pasta with rabbit meat was no longer available...too bad. I think the original menu distinguished this place from other Italian restaurants in the area. The new appetizer I really enjoyed was the Roman artichoke although I was mislead by the pictures on Yelp with multiple artichokes on the plate. One artichoke for $15 is not reasonable although tasty, serve at least two artichokes for $15! The pork chop was excellent and very tender, the pasta with sausage and Parmesan was perfectly cooked. My husband and I came here for the first time tonight and had one of the best meals in a long time! The restaurant itself is beautiful and reminiscent of Europe and feels very authentic. The service was outstanding from the start and everyone was very kind and welcoming. You receive amazing complimentary bread and high quality olive oil to start your meal. We tried many dishes and all were delicious. Our personal favorites were the agnolotti and the fried fingerling potatoes. My husband loved his Manhattan and my mocktail was great too. We got three desserts because we couldn't choose and all were incredible. My cappuccino was also one of the best I've had anywhere. We can't wait to come back to try more of their fantastic menu. I was so lucky to park right in front of the door. No simple feat because it's parrarel parking. The interior is adorable. The restaurant has tables surrounding the bar as you walk in, and in the back one step up is additional seating, which feels a little less crowded. The lighting is a little dark though. One of the very best dining experiences my wife and I had during our 5-day stay in Connecticut. We ordered the Agnolotti Di Brasato and the Tagliatelle Al Ragu - both were absolutely delicious. For dessert, we tried the Tiramisu, which they make in-house, and it was easily one of the best we've ever had. The food alone was outstanding, but what really impressed us was the value. We enjoyed a starter, two mains, wine, dessert, and espresso. It's rare these days to dine so well for two at that price point. The service was just as fantastic as the food. Our server was warm, attentive, and took the time to chat with us after the meal, offering excellent local recommendations. I keep a running list of restaurants that I want to try from various recommendations including, Yelp, Open Table, Instagram, etc. Geppetto's ended up on my list even though I'm not sure how. So we made a reservation for a Saturday night which is about a half hour trip for us to Torrington. We arrived for our 6:30 reservation and were promptly seated in the back of the restaurant on an elevated platform providing a great view of the restaurant. The picture below of the cabinet with the various bowls was right next to us. There is an old world feel to the restaurant. Our waiter took our drink order right away. I ordered a Monkey 47 with Fever Tree tonic, which I love (I'm surprised by how many restaurants have one or the other but not both) and my wife had a dirty Vodka martini. I then ordered a Chianti Riserva which was full bodied and reasonably priced. To go with our meal. We started our meal with the seared scallop appetizer special that came with a pistachio sauce. The scallops were perfectly seared with the sauce and other accompaniments perfectly complementing the dish. My only complaint is that $24 for two scallops feels pricey in relationship to the rest of our meal. Our main meals were the rack of lamb and Halibut. Again, everything perfectly cooked, very tasty, with side sauces and purées that were fantastic. For desert we sampled another special that was described as a cake made with almond cookies grounded up to replace the flour with a chocolate ganache called Crescionda. I was really hoping to enjoy this newer restaurant due to the many positive reviews but....we (party of 4) arrived at 7:10 and ordered 4 cocktails, the drinks arrived at 8:00, or 45 minutes later. We then weren't offered dinner menus until 8:15 and ordered our food at 8:30. We ended up leaving the restaurant at 9:55 or almost 3 hours after arrival. The appetizer portions were small and lacked flavor. Specifically the artichoke which was impossible to eat and the quail which was flavorless. The lamb entree was raw, not rare but raw, even though I requested medium. I sent it back and was offered an acceptable re-fire. Our server was very helpful, pleasant and apologetic. She comped us two desserts, which was appreciated. The atmosphere is warm but they placed the tables too close together, so much that we had to push in uncomfortably to allow service to the table behind us. I am hoping that our experience was out of the ordinary and simply new restaurant pains but I also wanted to share the experience. read more

I don't like the vibe in there honestly. It's not really Soothing or comfortable. The seating situation is weird and the wait staff was below grade for the prices they charge. I do understand it's hard to find good help these days. If you're looking for four glasses of wine and a couple of $40 dinners I would explore other options. Definitely not in Torrington. EXCELLENT food. Yes, service is slow but the atmosphere and the dishes make up for that in spades. We came here for a birthday dinner as a party of four. From appetizers to when the check came took about three hours in total and cost $280 for one cocktail, one bottle of wine, three appetizers, four entrees, three dessert, one macchiato and one limincello. So, reasonably priced fir the amount of food. We did have to ask for more bread and water several times but the decor made the place so warm and cozy with the, music, exposed brick, and soft lighting we really didnt mind. I had the Sazerac which knocked my socks off with its well-balanced flavors. That drink packed a punch! I had the pasta special, pappardelle with steak and mushrooms. What a divine symphony of al dente pasta paired with a savory, light, buttery sauce. The macchiatto had been prepared perfectly, bone dry and with excellent Espresso. To finish, we had the poached pears, panna cott, and crema catalano. All three looked exquisite and tasted none too sweet. All in all, tattoo bueno! read more

Tried this place last week. The atmosphere is cool, old world feel. We got the Artichoke appetizer which is kind of bizarre. Nothing really to eat . We even asked the waitress about it and she said the sauce is good for bread dipping. True it was delicious for that but not much of an appetizer. We got wine by the glass for $22 a pop. The entrees were excellent, really good . I got short rib pasta dish and loved it. The problem was it was very tiny. When they served it my first thought was to eat super slow because literally I could have eaten it in like one minute. I asked for more bread to try and add some substance. My wife never finishes her entrees ever and she finished hers easily. We got desserts which were very good as well. So the food is excellent but tiny portions and $22 for a glass of Chianti doesn't make me run back. If food taste only would be 5 stars but all in all we won't return so giving 3. read more

I don't know how to say, "WOWWWW" in Italian but this place was WOWWWW! The ambience is comfortable yet romantic. I could easily come by for a cocktail but also really could have a romantic dinner. The food was wonderful! The ravioli seemed like an odd combination but IT. WAS. DELICIOUS! I would recommend time and time again. My husband had the strip steak and it was perfectly cooked and the sides were delicious and perfectly seasoned. The prices were reasonable. I would prefer to drive out to Torrington for this meal than to eat the common and overpriced fare in my neighborhood. The cocktails were great. The wine menu was extensive. Just okay for the hefty price. First time but I'm a foodie so i may be too critical particularly when it comes to authentic Italian food. Service was sweet but don't ask for anything adjusted on your plate because its a no can do. Skip the artichoke appetizer which I typically love but this was sitting in a bowl of mint infused evoo which was not good or worth eatting..unfortunately a bad version of such a beautiful thing. The halibut was good but nothing special and the tagliatelle bolognese good but very salty and I usually like salt but this was too much.
