Tried Paella at "Burlingame on the Avenue", and it was really expensive. It had only 4 small shrimps. And the test was not that great.

Tried the paella at BottleRock and it was definitely one of my favorite caterers there. Always happy to find some great paella!

We went to the Menlo Park Summerfest, and though, I usually really stay away from food at those venues, this Paella looked really great. I'm happy I tried it. Gerard's Paella catered our wedding for 120 people last weekend in Geyserville, and, wow, were they amazing!! We had three types of Paella (chicken and chorizo, seafood, and vegetarian). All were made on site, plated with a side salad, and served by the fantastic members of Gerard's team. All of our guests raved about the dinner, and we were equally impressed with the professionalism of Gerard and his team. Although we were too busy taking photos, we heard the appetizers were incredible. Paella is a fantastic wine country wedding dinner, and Gerard and team are the best. Gerards was recommended by a good friend & I failed to check the web reviews. I just paid the bill. I was embarrassed by Gerards lack of professionalism & simple incompetence. The contract & communications with your people made it clear that Gerards would be on site 2 hours before the guests arrived. No word for a VERY nerve-racking 90 minutes. Several dozen friends were on their way & I have nothing to feed them. No nobody would answer a phone. Nobody called. Nobody responded to our messages. Just before the guests your person finally arrived. Unprofessional & unkind. The production was as represented, an interactive & attractive display. Unfortunately I was among the last to be served. My serving consisted of 1/2 cup of BURNED rice, one dry shrimp and a strip of pepper. Evidently the chicken was shorted. In my opinion the food was inedible. The array of burned chips overwhelmed the plate. I would have sent the plate back at any restaurant. I paid the check in full including the large gratuity. I feel cheated. By the way Gerards never responded to my comments. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE. I fell in love last year when I went to coachella, the paella was amazing I never had it before so Im lucky I stumbled upon it. After that I have tried a few paella's but they were too dry and not as tasty. Im so glad they were back at it again for coachella this year and I will never not get it for the years coming. We had Gerrard and his team cater our wedding and it was hands down AMAZING. The paella as it cooks is simply divine ... awesome colors and smells and Gerrard and his Sous chef are enchanting to watch and talk to. Once The paella is complete and ready to be served, it is almost to pretty to put in a spoon into and dish out. I have never tasted Paella that was THIS AMAZING there are no words to describe the explosion of flavor, the freshness and the all around amazing experience of the dish. Chicken & Seafood Paella $5 - Eat Real Festival They were still cooking when we got to their stand which attracted many onlookers due to their enormous paella pans on wheels. We heard they would be ready to serve in an hour so we sampled other food in the mean time. When we were pretty much full we went back thinking it would be one of the last things we would eat. They still were not ready to serve and we overheard it would take another half hour. We joined the line that had formed even though they were not taking any orders yet. Apparently they were the most popular at last year's festival too with people waiting up to 2hrs. Good thing we got in line early because the line got real long. The dish came with rice, a piece of shrimp, a mussel and a mini chicken drumstick. They make sure there's a piece of each in each plate. I really only got to try the rice since I was already so stuffed. The rice was yummy. It was cooked just right and you can really taste the chicken broth in the rice. Yummy! read more

We had Gerard's Paella cater an employee appreciation event last week......to say the employees appreciated it is an understatement. They did a superb job and provided a memorable meal for everyone. I've had their Paella before at a Winery event in Healdsburg (Williams Selyem Winery) and appreciated their authentic Paella, Gambas al ajillo appetizer, and the delicious Manchego they served with it. I grew up in Spain (Caceres) and have eaten Paellas at some of the most famous purveyors in all corners of Spain. Gerard's was an authentic, savory seafood filled example of what Paella is supposed to be. The socarrat was perfect (that's the crispy/burnt rice at the bottom of an authentic Paellas pan). I started writing this over a year ago and just found the saved review. I'd say Gerard's Paella is delicious, consistent, fresh and unique! I took a buddy, who lived in Spain, to try it at the local farmers market and he said it ranks with the very best. I totally agree. Gerard fired up the pans for the participants at my kayak fishing tournament last October and received rave reviews from more than a hundred anglers and their kin...every one of them a specialty seafood critic. I can't overstate that this was far and away the most pleasant, fluid and utterly painless catering experience we've ever had. Clear communication, no fuss, whatever kind of paella we wanted and a genuine value to feed any size group local or away. Gerard supplied eco-friendlier plates and utensils on request and we like that. Not generating hundreds of pieces of plastic and foam trash for dinner on the beach costs pennies, not dollars. Gerard's paella is delicious!!! I think I've seen Gerard's Paella at Eat Real, but the line was always super long, so I've never been able to try. I went to Maker Faire in San Mateo a couple weeks ago and he was there with like 8 of his mega giant paella pans making a ginormous batches of chicken & shrimp paella. AND the line was SHORT. My friend and I decided that we needed to eat this. There were two lines, one of pay and one to receive the food. We paid cash (I think $10) and then waited in the other line. In less than five minutes, we were in possession of a plate of Gerard's paella. It was actually a large portion for one plate, so we were glad to share (though I secretly think I could have finished one whole plate by myself). In addition to chicken and shrimp, there were garbanzo beans and green beans too. The rice was cooked perfectly and the flavor was amazing. There were some tables set up in front of the paella booth, so while we were eating, we also watched them make the paella. Adding the rice, adding the chicken, adding the water/stock. It was amazing. This might have been the coolest thing I saw being made and Maker Faire lol. It was mesmerizing. Muy delicioso! read more

gerard's paella was at the maker faire this past weekend. the line was long so i knew i had to try it. a short wait later, i had a steaming hot plate of chicken and seafood paella in my hand. the first bite was delicious. the best part is the rice. the burnt pieces are just a bit crunchy. the chicken is very tender and just falls off the bone. the shrimp and mussel were a bit dry and not baked in the paella. only wish it was not so oily. ended up being too oily towards the bottom. definitely share the plate with someone. also, squeezing lemon on the dish really made a difference. the lemon really brings out all the flavors. get lots of lemon! gerard had the largest paellas i have ever seen! they've got 4 pans going at the same time so it's pretty cool to watch the different stages. almost four stars for gerard's paella. =P read more

I always get excited when seeing options outside of the average burger, garlic fries and funnel cakes at fairs. Today, I decided to check out Gerard's Paella. Multiple HUGE pans of paella cooking in the back. I didn't get the soccarat that others did (overdone soccarat? Who knows, I got de nada) - I had the vegan paella, which was served hot, tasty and good. I loved the lemon chunks that were cooked into the rice although it was definitely on the oily side. But for being fair food, this stands out as a great option. read more

I had Gerard's Paella for the first time this past weekend at the Treasure Island Music Festival. I order the Gerard paella that had shrimp and chicken. Absolutely delicious. Definitely some dank paella! Chicken was moist and tender and the shrimp flavor wasn't overpowering or too fishy. Perfect. The staff was also friendly and quick! They had three LARGE paella cooking pans that they had going at different stages so paella could be served continuously. I wish Gerard's had a brick and motor in San Francisco. My family has actually known Gerard for a while. But we've never actually tried his paella until recently. And it made me wonder why I haven't tried it before! My husband and I booked Gerard's Paella for our dress rehearsal dinner in April and they were so easy to book. We had about 50 guests, and event was held in San Jose. They were prompt and professional, very friendly. Also very accommodating with our guests' dietary needs. And the food was DELICIOUS. I had both the pork sausage and chicken shrimp paellas at the SF street food festival and it did not disappoint. The chicken was cooked to tender perfection. The pork sausage infused the rice with a delicious flavor distinct from the chicken shrimp dish. All in all, filling and yummy. I recommend the cilantro sauce! read more

Yes! Hooked into this via the festival food circuit, has amazing paella and I really like how they have the big cookers out and you can see them cooking some amazing paella. So my sweetheart and I accidentally happened upon the Davera Winery which was also hosting a Paella dinner for the evening and thought why not. Gerard was mentioned in the lonely planet that we've been consulting along our california adventure. I love Paella and have had plenty in Spain and the southern states. This experience was a pure treat. It was phenomenally flavored and Gerard was a very chill guy. The whole experience was fantastic but the food stood out in a special way. Sure you could add the hot sauce or the pepper if you wanted, but on its own the dish was superb. Everyone's got their own tastes but I consider myself an avid appreciator of food, paella being one of my fav's, and Gerard's paella was spot on. Don't take every review in here too seriously. For the 4th or 5th year (can't recall), I have attended World Maker Faire in NYC. The first time I came, Gerard was there. I was blown away at the Paella. I ate way too much - it was that good. I've visited Spain and this is better than any I had there. I enjoy it so much, I started bringing some Tupperware so I can bring some home and not try to eat it all at once. I was disappointed. The Paella was just not that good. There were a lot of garbanzo beans in it. I am from Spain; and that was a BAD interpetation of a Paella. Shrimps were tough and rubbery. I was turned off by the Paella because it was so greasy and all the chicken was dry. I really wanted to like it....I really did. This is a review for Gerard's Paella at the San Francisco Carnaval Sat 23rd 2015. I saw the big paellas cooking and the big lines. So I decided to try some. It was my first time, but not my first time eating paella. $11 for a plate of Paella. OK. Chicken and Shrimp paella. That should have been a warning sign. Well what I got today was probably the worst paella possible. The rice was mushy and bland. There was NO shirmp at all. Just a couple of tails. It was all chicken and crappy rice. This was a crappy arroz con pollo. Not authentic Spanish paella. And not edible. A total waste of money. read more
