My first--and last--experience with Gerber Collision & Glass in Highland Park, IL was deeply frustrating and extremely disappointing. The customer service, communication, and lack of accountability throughout the process were unacceptable. I dropped off my Subaru Crosstrek on 7/24/26. Over the following weeks, I received many incorrect completion updates because information was repeatedly provided for another Subaru Crosstrek at the shop. This happened multiple times over the course of my repair, despite the fact that the shop was well aware there were two similar vehicles on-site. There was an additional delay because an order for a specific car part (rubber bumper cover) was not placed along with other parts in the initial order. I was promised several callback updates that never occurred. The receptionist, at one point, put me on hold without asking, and then sent the call go to voicemail right before the facilities closed. During the third week of the car repair, I received a voicemail referring to me as "Mr". I am not a man. I was contacted several times about a clarification regarding the old car parts that was already communicated to the receptionist on the day of the car pick up (8/14/26). When I got the car back, I noticed that a customization on my dashboard was broken, the steering column fabric that covers the wires under the hand wheel dashboard is now loose, and my rear view mirror was replaced incorrectly upside down (where the manual dimming feature is now placed above the mirror, not below). What is particularly concerning is the apparent lack of basic quality control, communication, and accountability in addressing mistakes. As a customer who entrusted Gerber with my vehicle after an accident, I expected clear communication, accurate information, and reasonable follow-through. Instead, I was left to repeatedly call the shop myself just to determine what was actually happening with my vehicle. Poor customer service and repeated communication failures make me concerned about the safety and quality of the repair work received. Being without my vehicle for an extended period is already stressful; having to repeatedly chase the shop for accurate information only made the situation significantly worse. I hope management takes this review seriously and recognizes that customers should not have to repeatedly call, correct misinformation, and chase down updates simply to receive basic information about their own vehicle, and that when repairs are completed they should be done correctly and safely and not damage customer property. read more

I had a wonderful (if you can use that word in connection to a repair) experience with this Gerber location. A rogue car wash had torn off the bumper guard on our twelve year old minivan. Louis saw that it could be popped back in after adjusting a part I would never have figured out, then suggested an inexpensive part I could get from the dealer or online for some extra securing and wouldn't accept anything for saving us an expensive repair we would have gladly paid. There was one downside, however - I had the Gerber jingle stuck in my head the rest of the day. read more

Around Feb 16, 2023 my vehicle was involved in a collision. My insurance paid to have Gerber Collision and Glass fix it. Their customer service was decent and they did a decent job with most of the repair, despite some delays. However, they tried to return my vehicle with the check engine light on. When I pointed this out, they charged me more to have an O2 sensor replaced, which ended up not fixing the problem. I finally took the vehicle to a different repair shop which fixed the problem after multiple visits. read more

Dropped my vehicle off and then my insurance company calls me to tell me that they can't complete the work 2 weeks later. They told her that it was to modified to work on my 4runner when only the grill, hood and lights are the only thing that isn't factory. I am.so upset that they waited 13 days to even look at my vehicle and that they couldn't even call me to tell me. The intake of my vehicle was pleasant, everything after that was a nightmare. I am now on my 5th day paying out of pocket for a rental because they waited so long to even look at it to figure out they couldn't to it and they they couldn't even call me, they called my insurance agent. I know they are established company but if you use them, call them to make sure they are doing thier jobs so you don't end up in a situation like I am right now. My recommendation. read more

Very good customer service. A service representative gets assigned to you and you have excellent communication throughout. The work I had done was not major repair; but, that seemed not to matter as I felt my car was just as important as others there with more extensive damage. I would though suggest a more smoother way to provide rental assistance, this is because they primarily use enterprise rent a car. Enterprise is well below the quality that Gerber has. Other then that, Gerber is high quality and I would go there again. Follow up...... I know you guys have a relationship with Enterprise, I totally get that Jessica! I really do. But they did sour what should of been a perfect experience from the time I came to Gerber to the time I left. And that Gerber had to offer reasons and apologies is something you guys should not have to do. Yes it was a unexpected busy day there..... but they overbooked and had no contingent plan for overbooking and they lacked insight into the reality of the DNC convention that week and young adults renting SUVs to return to college. I would call that a lack of judgment on their part. If Gerber uses Enterprise primarily, consider their actions as part of the claim process initiated by my insurance company and Gerber's professionalism. It makes all look less professional. If you are a Tesla owner and want to get very minor paint work done on your car, don't waste your time going to Gerber. I took my Tesla to the Gerber shop today to get an estimate on some very minor paint repair done on the front and back bumper. I have the correct paint. Was told that only the Gerber in Skokie did work on Teslas. I was told that they would have to take the bumper off to do the PAINT work done. This is ludicrous!! We'll call this a job well done, but with a couple of hiccups and a bit of collaboration along the way. We are fans of Gerber Collision & Glass. We've had random instances over the years that required us to bring our cars in. These guys have always been first choice for us, because they have always done a great job. A few months ago, we were driving down the street and out of nowhere someone pulled out and hit our car and caused approximately $4k worth of damage. Even though Gerber wasn't in our insurance company's network, we insisted we bring our car there. Gerber is near our house, and they work with Enterprise and make sure we have a rental car when we need it. As far as the repairs, we needed a fender skirt, the door skin needed to be replaced, and a wheel rim repaired and refinished. We received a call after about a week to come take a look at the finished job. Sadly the paint was still a bit off. The wheel rim was now shiny, with the coating buffed out. It no longer matched the rest or our rims. Had my husband not been involved in this, I might not have noticed the paint being off, but heck no to the wheel. I hate to say this, but they would have actually let this fly. Ummmm...nope! We asked them to bring out another guy so we could explain that it wasn't right. I think it might be Chris, but I'm not 100% sure. He was incredibly nice and agreed about the paint. We had to really push to get the rim fixed. They REALLY wanted to leave it. But we would not budge on this. After some back and forth, and two weeks later, we ended up with the right rim, and eventually left satisfied with the paint color. We would still go back there for the convenience, and because they did make it right with a smile on their face. read more

My daughter has been without her car for three weeks waiting for Gerber to submit proper paperwork to her insurance company. She has gotten nothing but a run around from these people, told to hold on the phone and disconnected multiple times. Update: The owner (I think?) of Collision Revision called and talked with my husband after seeing my Yelp review. He was apologetic, and offered to have their staff come get my car from my office to finish the repair. He asked about the complaints in the review, and didn't try to make excuses. Staff were prompt about coming to get the car on the scheduled date and time. They returned it before the end of the day. The repair to the repair was done well, and my car is back in good form. You can't even tell a four car collision initiated by a Jaguar running a red light sheared off part of the panel and grill. The owner also threw in a gift certificate to have my car detailed in the spring -- a nice, unnecessary touch. But actually sort of necessary because the inside of my car is a hot mess. ;) A friend asked me if the follow up changed my opinion of my experience at Collision Revision, and my answer was no -- but it does change my opinion of the owner. There are clearly some areas of growth in customer service; it seems like the owner is attentive to those and working on it. read more

Updated Review (3/14/18): Today, I picked up my car from Gerber. They did a phenomenal job!!! My previous hesitation of them not being able to color match my car was quickly thrown to the wind. I highly recommend Gerber Collision and Glass to anyone looking for repairs. When I picked up my car, I was pleasantly surprised that the outside of my car was shiny and the inside of my car was spotless and clean! Gerber alongside Geicos Auto Repair Xpress service was great! The process was really as easy as 1-2-3. From dropping my car off, to getting my rental car from Enterprise then picking up my car, I was kept in the loop during the entire process. Bill was the main repairers name and he was so nice and kept me well informed with the repairs they were going to do. Bradley, who was the Geico adjuster, was also really nice and kept me well informed as well. The overall customer service was fantastic and Kimberly at the front desk of Gerber was more than accommodating and a pleasure to talk to. While it was unfortunate what happened to my car, i know that I can be confident in the work that Gerber and Glass provide. Their service is just awful!!! My auto insurance company chose this place, so it was my only reason I took my car in. Due to car accident, my SUV needed work on rear door (it was completely ruined and could not even open the door). After 2 weeks, I picked my car up. Car interior was completely ruined by oil stains and back door could not be locked nor properly closed. You would think they would check if their repair was correctly done before giving your car back, right? But apparently, THEY DO NOT. They are completely OK with ruining their customer's car with oil stains or returning their customer's car WITHOUT repairing. I had to clean after their mess (had to make several phone calls and wiping oil stains on the roof, seats, and steering wheel) If they cannot do simplest thing they advertise their service for, which is REPAIRING, I do not even know what I can ask them for. read more

The estement was done very fast and I was explaied in details what will happen next. Then, Chris took me and explained everything again. Must I repeat myself.... My car has a mind of itself and likes to run into other cars. I try to stop it, but the car always wins. Really it's not me. I promise I'm a good driver. Now, no one is going to want to drive with me. Of all the places I've had cars fixed this is the worst of them all. They aren't very friendly nor are they customer focused. They don't let you drop the car off on your schedule, it's on theirs. And it often takes longer than other places. Also, it's not that they don't do a good job, I've just liked how other places do their work better, and trust me *I* should know. Just stopped here because my 1996 VW GTI was acting strange and the check engine light was on. I first went to the VW dealer across the street and they were unwilling to help because it was "16 minutes until close". I had told them I was from the city and was wary of how my car was acting so I was hoping they would have had some compassion. They didn't. Gerber were extremely friendly and even though they didn't do mechanical work there, Jim got out a diagnostic computer and retrieved the error code for me. I cannot say enough good things about Gerber Collision - in the past year i've had two of my cars in due to being rear-ended and an accident in my driveway backing out of the garage. Their service was stellar, and that's why I keep going back. My car(s) both were done ahead of promise and done expertly as you cannot tell there was any damage. They even dropped my car off at the house when I couldn't pick it up, which was awesome! This location has only been Gerber for about a year, prior to that it was Collision Revision; and I have always gone to Gerber for autobody work on Milwaukee Avenue which is a trek for me as I live in Highland Park, but now they are a short distance away and I could not be happier. I read some of the reviews below and I'm not understanding how Josie P in downtown Chicago or Emma S Wheeling would be bringing their cars to Highland Park when there are Gerber Auto body shops all over the place (including downtown Chicago, Wheeling, etc). Ryan C below clearly has a picture of his "Collision Revision "review and pictures attached so that's not fair to judge Gerber based on that! I also read Sharon S of Skokie's car had a problem THREE YEARS after it was fixed (which come on, three years ago it was Collision Revision, not Gerber). If this is a true review, its awesome that Gerber took care of this guy when they didn't own the place when he alledgely brought his car in 3 years ago!! Took my car here for repairs and it came back with rats which destroyed my interior and some of my wiring. I always took my car here when it was collision revision, and I lived 5 minutes away from them, so when I needed services this time around, even though I now live 40 minutes away, I made the drive because of the services I had previously received, huge mistake! They must be under new management because customer service is now zero and quality of work has gone way down, but the WORST thing is that my car came back with a rodent that was eating away my leather interior. If you take your car here expect to have to pay thousands of dollars more on repairs because of the rodent problem that they don't seem to be addressing.... read more

I came here to get my Scion xB back bumper repaired after someone hit my parked car in a parking lot. The staff was very friendly to accommodate my schedule to make sure I could drop off/pick up my car a bit before/after hours. Communication was great throughout the process, as I received texts/calls from the staff as my vehicle went through the repair process. My car was even ready one day ahead of schedule. The actual repairs were excellent, as the rear bumper looked brand new and the paint matched perfectly. They even buffed out another scratch near the bumper, which was not a part of the repairs. In addition, they detailed the interior of my car, free of charge. The overall cost was also lower than what was quoted by the Allstate estimate.
