But anyway, it would be logical that Safelite would be familiar with my model of car. So the second time I called Safelite, I had pushback that they couldn't replace my windshield. Then they called me back with an appointment. They called me yet again to schedule an appointment at another location, over an hour from my house, for 8 am. I received a call the very minute I was going to leave my house for my 8am appointment (mind you, it's an hour away), that my repair couldn't be handled at that location. Very frustrating. This ends well, however, because I was able to have my windshield replaced at this Morton Grove location. And before I could get cracked windshield #3, I sold the car. TLDR: lots of back and forth to get windshield repaired. Also, cost of windshield was $2500, so you can understand why I wanted to go through insurance and use Safelite. Also: trucks and landscape trucks driving on Edens without covers = bad.

The day of the install arrived and they took my keys. They let me know when my car would be ready, and when I arrived, all was well. Windshield looked perfect, car was freshly washed and looked gleaming. It even had those paper mats. Nick & Ernies is certified for my brand. Hope I won't have to see them again (fingers crossed), but if a problem comes up I know that they are preferred and can be counted on to do the job right!

But how critical or in-depth could that review be? Who knows. Should have considered that better when making the choice to trust them with my Suby. Woes of the pandemic left their offices light on support staff for some time. Due to that aspect, getting an appointment for a repair quotation took over a month before I could actually visit them. They were very busy and short on personnel. After said insurance related fixes, repairs weren't completed on time nor in the time they kept the vehicle. The car had to be returned a few more times for inspections and clarity why the repair didn't quite fix all problems associated. Which I was okay about due to the type of problem I had. Back in Dec 2020 my parked car was injured by a drunk driver over NYE, so I could understand when all related issues weren't completely addressed. But even after, in all the discussions back and forth, I was never fully satisfied with their explanations/ repairs. Prior to finally deciding to come away with whatever was completed because I was in and out frequently I decided to proceed with muffler repair. That too wasn't properly fitted and due to it, my muffler was making such a loud noise as if it was a custom exhaust I had purchased. With the magnitude of sound created I wished there had been a boost of horsepower but such was not the case. It took several calls and ultimately I was able to return to have them do something to fit the mufflers correctly. Something which took care for about two days, till whatever was accomplished just kinda "broke" free and the loud sounds returned. A couple weeks later the car broke down on the Kennedy. Can't express how fun that was. Not very. Communication with the service manager I was allotted was not always on time. Several times I was leaving messages with alternates in the hopes of some return communication and when considering that months were passing without clear communication, shit was getting frustrating. You know what isn't funny. People always say after an accident, if you have full coverage the insurance companies will make sure your car is like new. That is not true at all. Since I felt and knew the car still needed a repair due to a control arm/etc a part that could have been damaged in that hit & run, State Farm gave me the chance to go elsewhere. But since the work performed at Nick & Ernie's I'm left feeling like it is time to sell my Subaru. If not for trying to utilize an "in-network" repair shop I am not sure I would have ended up here. No plans to return.

That was the first lie, delay after delay after delay. Excuse after excuse involving the parts (front fender) the head light, light bulbs whatever they could do to turn a 2 day job into a multiple week project. Pricing was on the high side over a thousand dollars to start ended up being double that and at the end they didn't complete the job as agreed. I should give you a little background a car reversed into my Nissan and broke my right head light and dented the fender very nicely. We are Allstate insured full coverage 4 cars in total for numerous years. The person who reversed into us was also insured through Allstate. He admitted fault from the very beginning. After a little digging I found brand new parts meaning new bumper and head light along with paint for a 2013 Nissan pricing for parts doesn't exceed for 500$ and the labor shouldn't take over half a week and that's if your extremely busy. They increased the price not once but 3 times, from $1330 to 1700$ to $2100. Again this isn't coming out of my pocket at the moment but i'm almost positive my insurance will get more expensive even though it was the other drivers fault. Bullet Points Deceiving Abusing situations at hand Adding extra repairs to the final invoice which were never done to start with. Not completing original job which they we're hired for, I didn't get a new bumper they used Bondo to fix the cracks and dents and replaced the headlight with a used headlight then kept the car a extra week because of a light bulb from the beginning they kept saying they didnt have the parts in stock but in reality they didnt use any new parts nothing was replaced that was supposed to be replaced beside headlight. On top of all this they talked to me as if I was in need of him and he acted and boosted his mojo by saying he did me a favor for painting the other side which he didnt have to.. thats true he didnt have to paint the otherside of my bumper the whole bumper was supposed to be replaced.. i can still see where the damage was and they kept my car for almost half a month. This is a place you take in for a oil change and they say you need 10 other things done then they change the filter and dont change the oil, or the other way around. I have got numerous estimates after the fact and every body shop agreed that what they did was very unprofessional, deceitful and looking to rip anyone off who technically isn't paying out of pocket and is insured. Honestly i believe that the body shop and the Allstate adjusters are in cahoots with one another because no one in there right mind would agree to a 2100$ price tag for what appears to be 200$ in parts (paint and bondo and headlight) and at most 300$ of labor. This place is a scam they will do it again and again if no one says anything they will keep doing it. They are inconsiderate and try to manipulate whoever they can as soon as they can. Again they bill people for work that doesnt get done and they bribe the insurance adjusters. DO NOT GO HEAR. DO NOT TRUST THEM THEY WILL GET OVER ON YOU THE FIRST CHANCE THEY GET.

However, my new car got dinged days after getting it and they were able to buff it out pretty easily. I was able to find the spot the work was done, but it took me a minute. I would be shocked if anyone who was unaware could even find the spot. While I was there, I also had my front two windows tinted while I waited and they did a good job. However, when I got the vehicle home I noticed that there was a decent bubble in the front driver side window. I contacted them the next day and they said to bring it back so it could be redone. At no point did I feel like they tried to push off the responsibility or try to get away from standing by their work. They fixed it no questions asked. I have no reason to believe that they wont also honor the lifetime warranty that they offer on their window tinting.

I was initially taken aback about a $9500 estimate, $1000 of which I paid through my deductible, but all of the estimated workseemed legitimate, but overpriced. After picking up my vehicle, I noticed inconsistencies in the paint and brought it back for them to review and to also determine why my keyless entry was not functioning anymore. They took my vehicle back in and told me that the keyless entry was not related and that I brought the vehicle in in that condition with cut wires on the interior panel. In no way was that possible, and the history of my vehicle shows no damage or related work in that area. In a rather condescending manner, they said to me, "we don't know the history of this vehicle" and wouldn't stand behind the fact that something had happened in their shop to cause this damage. Then, they tried to claim that I was somehow disrespectful to their staff while I remained professional other than the conversation where I was spoken to in a disrespectful manner. I can handle all of that as long as they stand behind their issues, which they did not. I then pointed out additional problems that happened during the repair, including some wheelwell trim pieces that were improperly put back on and had gouges and damage on them. I sent photographs of the damage back to them and they got no response at all. None. After seeking outside professional assessment of the situation, these particular panels are not meant for reuse, and they were wedged back onto my vehicle, thereby causing damage. Attached are the photos I sent them that got no response where they added damage. Luckily, State Farm was helpful in helping me find another body shop to fix their shoddy workmanship. So, they determined fault with Bucktown Auto Body, and I will get it fixed at a more reputable location. I also recommend for anybody thinking about bringing in a vehicle to this particular body shop to also consider a more reputable one to bring it to. I had done some previous business with Autohaus body shop and assumed this was still related. Unfortunately, this business was purchased recently and the previous ownership that has all the good reviews are not related, and a lot has changed, and none of it good. I would take your money and estimates elsewhere.
