I found an auto service unicorn .The Heart Auto location on Skokie Blvd in Northbrook across from PetsMart. I have used them for some maintenance things in the past, but this time I couldn't get my new phone to hook up to BlueTooth, The guy at the counter, Keith, came outside, made sure it connected (linked me to the Dave Matthews Band , too) and showed me a bit on the phone that I didn't know. Too often women go invisible at auto service places. The exact opposite happened here. Avoid this place like the plague! I bought 1300 dollars of new tires from them and had them balance and install on them with a staggered setup on my Mint OEM rims on my 2016 Mustang GT. They used a ridiculous amount of rim sealant that it oozed out onto my rims and sprayed up on my car. if this wasn't bad enough, I got a flat tire and discovered that they torqued the living shit of the lug nuts (despite me asking them to torque to the required ft pound OEM specs. while trying to change the flat, I couldn't break the lug nuts free with a Milwaukee impact wrench that is rated for 600 ft pounds of torque. Even a 4 foot breaker bar wouldn't get the lug nuts loose. I had to get a tow to another tire shop which had to use a an air compressor-based impact wrench to get off bolts. They first tried their largest battery impact wrench which they use for all tire removal and that wouldn't budge the lug nuts. The other tire shop said they had never seen lug nuts at this high torque levels. 5 nuts were ruined removing the tire and the new shop fix the flat and replace all lug nuts on the car and torque to proper torque specs. This place may have a heart but they have no brains to torque nuts this tight, despite asking them to follow factory specifications. Never Again!!!! read more

Heart auto cares. So I have an older vehicle (20years old). I didn't drive it and deferred maintenance for quite a while on it because I only used it as a commuter. Well I had to finally get the maintenance done and the guys at Heart are the reason why I went with them. I dealt with Michael, Jaime, Armando - those are classy guys (no shade at all). No trying to push extras. I dropped my car off on Thursday pm, and Friday am, I got a complete review/inspection report of what they noticed on inspection. And the work was done by Friday EOD. So I got all the recommended services done and was happy with the work they provided. My battery was acting up since I hadn't driven for a long time so I always needed to jump it. Turns out it was under warranty and the guys at Heart replaced it for me. Topped off all my fluids too. Armando knew that I only wanted the basics to keep the car going so that's what we focused in on. I've been going to them since they were duxler. They have little turnover and loyal customers because they are excellent service. They stand by their work and back with a warranty as well so I know things will be handled correctly. read more

My daughter was moving to Phoenix so took her car to Heart to get checked. One item was the front suspension; "Not immediate but will need to be replaced soon". We took it to a mechanic in Phoenix to look at and the technician said there was nothing wrong. Heart wanted over $2,400 to fix nothing. We paid $68 in Phoenix for an oil change. I did post this on there website 3 days ago but guess they don't feel the need to respond. Buyer beware and don't go there!!! read more

I made an appointment online for an oil change for 9:30am. Upon arrival at 9:15 am I was told that the service would be performed in about 90 minutes. When I came back 3 hours later I found my car still in the same spot where I left it earlier. I should mention that I left my car in the Charlie Beinlich restaurant since no spots were available around the shop. The lady at the desk affirmed that I didn't have to worry about being towed and she would pull my car in a safe place immediately. Of course that was never done.... My car was still in the queue and then I was told that AN OIL CHANGE would require 4 to 5 hours!!!!! Nobody called to inform me of that unacceptable delay. I picked up my key and left immediately since I had an 1:00 pm meeting I could not miss. I understand they are shorthanded but, please, please, do not make promises you cannot keep. For your lack of honesty you now have lost a customer as well as any kind of positive recommendation I could have given you. read more

Since I bought the car in May, I've asked and trusted their advice on tires since at 55k miles it was a necessary expense. Explained my options, I did the comparison shopping and Heart offered the best price and all the "fixins". Even when I had a flat the next week (construction in my neighborhood is ongoing) they took action and did the right thing. My brakes at Heart are next. I took my 2015 Camry to HEART when the "maintenance required " light flashed. Turned out to be nothing wrong, but I was told that I should get new spark plugs because it was time. My car runs so smoothly and I feel that I got a good deal. This was my second time at HEART. They have my business for the life of my car--which will be a long one, I'm sure. read more

They sent an advertisement for an oil change for $84.. Called to schedule the appointment and told them the type of car and they mentioned that it may be a little more if it needs more then 5 quarts . When I dropped off the car they immediately told me the cost would be $130 as it would need 7.5 quartz that they failed to provide when I called .Watch out for the misleading ads to get you in the door as my regular high price mechanic only cost $110 without a coupon. read more

Two stars because the staff was friendly and that does mean something. Low marks because I had a flat tire this AN and managed to drive over and ask for help. They couldn't accommodate plugging it as they are "too busy" and told me it would be some hours before they could get to my tire. A flat takes about 15-20 minutes to repair and they are not equipped to assist. I'm sure their scheduled service is fine but don't come here with anything urgent. read more

I went in here a little while back for an oil change and to check a wheel sensor. I was then sent an online quote of well over 4,000 without any explanation other than an email. Several of the things had already been replaced too which was concerning. I brought my car in for an oil change and new wiper blades. However I did forget my car is 17 years old and over 124,000 miles. I need more mantenance done on my Camery. I needed rear brakes,pads and rotors,also needed front lower suspension control arm both sides,tramsmission fluid neded to be replaced and my timing belt and water pump. Wth the high cost of new and used cars,I had decided it was well worth it to have everything done. We love the car and I wanted to make sure it will last alot longer. Once I got my car back,it was like driving a brand new car. Since I have been dropping my car and truck by you I've have had no problems. I strongly recommend against going here for any sort of car work. I brought my car in for an alignment because I noticed my tires were wearing unevenly. Here are my issues: 1. One of my tires was worn out badly - it was so simple to see because the outer tread was bad. They didn't even suggest or recommend putting on a new tire. 2. After the alignment, no printout or information showing what they did/changes made. I highly doubt they even performed any work. 3. An error light came on after I received my car. For the error light, I brought it back to them and they did not care one bit. Their response? "Bring it to the dealer". Then they claimed their work wouldn't have caused that error light to come in. Sure, bud - I've had this car for multiple years with no issue at all until your "mechanic" touched it. Read other's reviews. These guys are careless. If you really care about your car and don't want additional issues, bring your car somewhere else. read more

I brought my vehicle in for an oil change and while I was waiting they presented me with a $1,200 list of items that required attention. I declined the repairs due to the pricing that seemed a little bit high. I brought the vehicle to an honest local mechanic I used for previous repairs and was told the only item on their list that was necessary was to replace the air filter. The other items were not needed at the time. The price quoted for those items when they're due was $295 less at my mechanic. On top of everything, two expensive pairs of sunglasses were stolen out of my center console. I'm the only driver of the vehicle and it's parked locked inside the garage so I know they were the only ones who could have ripped me off. Stay away if you don't want them to empty your wallet and steal your personal possessions. read more

I heart heart. I have taken my car here a couple times and they have done quality work and a good price. I took my girlfriends car here for some service. She was told at another shop that her brake pads were dangerously warm out and needed new pads and possibly rotors. I asked about getting an oil change synthetic and it was a decent deal, but you can find coupons online. The gentleman told me he recommended new air filters, and replacing the brake fluid. He was super helpful and not pushy. I asked if the pads were good and he's like let's go check . He took me in the bay and asked the mechanic working on the car if the pads were good. The mechanic said hey were good and did not need replacing. I added the additional level of service that he recommended and I feel strongly that this shop is very trust worthy. Also did I mention they have a nice waiting room with flatscreen tv, leather couch, free popcorn, free pop and coffee!? Highly recommended thanks HEART! read more

How did I not know about this shop before??? My wife casually mentioned to a friend that her beloved convertible needed to go because it needed $6000 worth of work on a car that was worth $6000. He said check out Heart Auto Care. I did. They checked out my car and said I only needed to fix 1 of the 5 things that the dealer's service department said I needed to immediately fix to keep it running safely. They gave me a loaner car so that I didn't need to sit there, and fixed it that day. They treated me like I was their long lost friend. Bottom line, my wife is happy because she gets to keep her car. I would not recommend. Came to fix flat tire, was told the tire can't be fixed and new tires are needed. Also was told to replace brakes and pads. Called Acura dealership in Highland Park and the price they gave me was lower than Heart Northbrook. They also gave me 2 year warranty and road side assistance from Acura. When I arrived I was told that there is no need to replace brakes. They are still good. Acura Highland Park - BIG Like for being honest! Now I think that maybe my tire could have been fixed... Next time if I get a flat tire I'll take my car to a different place. read more

They diagnosed and replaced my front brakes and front struts, tried to charge me ~$2,600 initially but came down to a still very expensive $2,000. They also took apart and looked at my rear brakes. After the initial work my rear brakes suddenly stopped working a few weeks later, they charged me another $1,000 to fix these even though the rear brakes weren't an issue until they took them apart. They were nice enough to lend me a loaner car when their repairs took much longer than anticipated. The loaner car ran very poor (which seems odd given that this is an auto repair shop) I feel like I was ripped off royally, They also have extremely divisive political messaging in front of their store so I didn't even feel welcome here. I definitely won't be coming back. Stay away from this place. EDIT: 2 days after getting my car back and 1 day after writing this review my car won't start. Haven't had more than a couple problems in 133,00 miles and now two separate issues immediately after the initial problem they fixed. This place is incompetent and they break more than they fix. I wrote a pretty scathing review a couple of weeks ago and the manager immediately contacted me, much to my surprise. He asked me to come in which I did and upon examining my windshield he agreed that my complaint was valid and replaced the windshield at no charge. No one is perfect but the GM saw the mistake and made it right, I am very appreciative. That is how it should be done! read more
