This isn't my first rodeo with Safelite. Would you believe I had two windshields replaced in the same year, not to mention a service call to repair a chip? But anyway, it would be logical that Safelite would be familiar with my model of car. So the second time I called Safelite, I had pushback that they couldn't replace my windshield. Then they called me back with an appointment. They called me yet again to schedule an appointment at another location, over an hour from my house, for 8 am. I received a call the very minute I was going to leave my house for my 8am appointment (mind you, it's an hour away), that my repair couldn't be handled at that location. Very frustrating. This ends well, however, because I was able to have my windshield replaced at this Morton Grove location. And before I could get cracked windshield #3, I sold the car. TLDR: lots of back and forth to get windshield repaired. Also, cost of windshield was $2500, so you can understand why I wanted to go through insurance and use Safelite. The first time I drove the car after having the windshield replaced, the exterior trim on the driver's side came off. Scheduled service to come out (5-day wait) to replace broken clips. A couple of days later, the interior driver's side trim came off, exposing the airbag. Also, the passenger-side windshield wiper did not work. Not wanting to wait for another appointment, I took it to the dealer, who told me the screw holding the interior molding was not tightened, same with the windshield wiper. For the first appointment, they didn't show up after I waited for hours, they tried to push me out a week after that, then showed up the next morning after I waited for a couple hours. they opened my car up for install and got the windshield out to realize it was the wrong one. Then they scheduled the next follow up without telling me at a time that didn't work for me. Everytime I tried to connect with someone I got an AI agent who couldn't connect me directly to the store. Bad experience. Wasted a day dropping off the car, only to find out at the end of the day that they didn't do anything because the glass had a scratch. Shouldn't they know that before the appointment is made? And- someone did drive my car because the lights were turned off (and I leave it on auto) even though no work was done to it. Had to come back on a different day, and when I returned to pick up the car, somebody me had put 8 miles - even though they said the calibration is done in their garage- and when I brought up the 8 miles - they said - oh, then we must have driven it to calibrate. 8 miles?! I found a chip in my windshield from maybe a week ago and was preparing to repair it myself until I was reminded to check with my insurance policy to see if it's covered. I called my Allstate agent and he did confirm that it was part of my policy, then filed the claim and set up the appointment at Safelite for me. When I arrived I spoke with David and at first had to clarify that a claim was actually filed, which was my mistake for not explaining the situation clearly and making it seem like I was just walking in without filing one. He was really nice about it though and was very informative, first confirming again that it was covered, then letting me know that the repair won't make the chip go away and there's a risk of the chip turning into a crack during repair. He was also up-front about how much my deductible is on the off-chance I'd need to replace the entire windshield. He gave me an estimate of 30-40 minutes for them to finish, pointed out their water/coffee/tea station and where the bathroom was, clarified where the chip was, and got to work. After ~35 minutes he came back out to tell me they were done and that the repair was fine and cured so I didn't have to worry about ruining it. Aesthetically you can still see the chip a little bit, but it's much better than before. Overall this was a very straightforward experience with no surprises, and David was fantastic and a very friendly and helpful guy! read more

First day of Spring yielded a few inches of snow :( Driving on the Edens that morning and a flippin' pebble kicks up and dimples my windshield. Low and out of the wiper path, but still a pisser. Time for a repair. I've never used Safelite or any other service like this, but their commercials had me look into them. Went on their website and got a quote. I thought it was expensive at $175 for the single repair. Another pisser. But had to do it. On Thurs, I made the online appt for Sat (today) at 9:30. Got an email right away for a $15 discount. That was nice. Shortly after, got a call from Roxy advising that I could drop off my car at 9:30 and get it at about 4:00. Way too long. She said I could bring it in for a while-you-wait appt on Tues. That wasn't going to work for me. She asked me to hold while she asked her manager, Hugo, what could be done. She comes back and asks if Sat at 8:am would be good. Roxy was a rockstar! Yes. I get into the store at 8:00 (Roxy was there - very nice) and my windshield was done by John at 8:40. I have been to this repair location 3 times in the last 5 years and been overall pleased until now. I just got a quote to replace the front windshield for the 3rd time on the same SUV in 5 years. They are now trying to scam me on a driver alert system calibration for an additional $500. I didn't need this calibration for the last couple repairs and now feel take advantage of. Will be going elsewhere. Outrageous. Update. Went to local body shop and cost for glass 40% less than safelite. Recommend shopping around. read more

I want to start with that I have never had to make a review, especially a negative one before this. We made an appointment for 3 due to a cracked windshield that happened the night before. We are from out of town so need it fixed asap to be able to travel 4 hours tomorrow. When we arrived the front desk said that they would have to check to see if they had the windshield for the car (?). Thought that would happen prior to appointment being confirmed(maybe could have if there was a way to reach a real representative when you call). We told front desk how our windshield broke (recall on the car caused passenger airbag to deploy unnecessarily and cracked the windshield) Around 5 we got a call from the service team and they stated the repair could not happen due to the airbag being deployed. We are staying 25 minutes away and they stated they would close in 30 minutes and that they will be closed the next day. So after not starting our repair until 2 hours after our appointment time they determined they could not complete the repair. Completely unprofessional and seem to lack communication between team members. I'd recommend looking locally. Also price was almost 900 dollars. read more

I recently came here after having a run in between my windshield and a rock on the interstate. First, I love that I had no out of pocket expenses since they partner with my auto insurance company. Second, I was able to get a same day appointment once I called in for more info. Third, they have a basic, but perfectly adequate waiting area that felt clean and offered hot beverages to enjoy while we waited. I think we were there maybe 30-45 minutes total. No paperwork, nothing to sign...it was awesome. The gentleman who worked on my windshield was really friendly, warm, and made sure I understood what he did to fix the issue before I left. With all of the construction in my area there are pebbles everywhere in the street and I had the misfortune of having one break my windshield. I spoke to my insurance company and they recommended Safelite. I made an appointment brought my car in and they replaced the windshield. After I picked up my car I was driving away and low and behold my rearview mirror was literally hanging there. I had meetings to get to and already had spent money to get to an from my office in Lyfts so I had to come back later. They looked at the mirror and they confirmed they screwed something up. Well that is obvious, one would think that you would check one of the only moving parts but that's another issue. Over the weekend the alert came on that the lane sensor and front collision detector were not functional. I asked if I could come back Monday morning and they said yes at 8. I arrived at 8 and they said they had no idea what the person was talking about but I could leave my car for an undefined amount of time and they can look at it or make an appointment and spend even more time getting to work. They offered to look at it and fix it based on the warranty. They literally do 1 thing at this place, one would think they could do it correctly. Maybe if they spent more money on paying technicians and less on commercials these problems would not happen. Took my truck in to have the rear window repaired. In order to change the window you need to remover the back seat. When I picked up my car the broken glass was all over the back of my car and the paint around the window was scratched up. I felt my seat belt was loose and when I looked under not only was it never reinstalled the tech carelessly cut it. read more

I called, received a quote, made an appointment, and the day before the appointment they called and said they couldn't get me the glass I requested (at a much cheaper price) but only the glass for the original (that was double the original quote!). Now I'm back to square one to try and find a place that will follow through on the quote they gave me when I made the appointment. read more

From start to finish, Safelite was a pleasure to work with. I had a rock chip my windshield while driving on 94. It was right in my line of sight so it was hard to ignore. I started looking up auto glass repair shops, thinking it would cost me a fortune to fix. I came across Safelite's reviews here on yelp and I was sold. I learned that instead of paying out of pocket for the repairs, that some insurances will cover it completely which thankfully mines did. I was able to set up an appointment with Safelite online through my insurance company, and the next day I came in. The workers were extremely friendly, offering beverages/snacks while they serviced my car. They started right on time and the process took about 15-20 minutes. Work name Paola ( I think I spelled her name correctky) left voicemail on my phone around 11:45 am day of appointment and she told me I had to bring in my car at 1 PM or I have to cancel my appointment. I called back Paola was telling me in very very rude saying replacement will take at least 5 hours i had to bring in earlier. I understand all that my complain was why are you guys calling me 90 minutes before ? This worker was so so rude !! I visited Satelite at Morton Grove again recently for an estimate. As always, they are courteousness and considerate. Both insurance or owner payment are accepted and can be worked out with them. There's no sales push except the good service. This is actually for a service experience with the windshield replacement during the pandemic. I had a cracked windshield and the insurer recommended them. The job was well done and everything was explained in detail. That's why I make them the first choice. Their text messing system reminds me about the appointment we made. 2-hours max service with just 1 week in advance appointment made is also considered convenient enough to my standard. Not-so-great part: We could see the employees in the working zone busy through the window, and almost none of them was wearing face masks in the close environment. It made me uncomfortable right there and we decided to spray the car inside all over before we drove it away. This review is way overdue, as my husband's windshield was repaired in December, 2017. We put off getting the windshield replaced, until the small spider web of a crack ended up spreading and running the entire length of the windshield. Insurance recommended we go to Safelite (no problem) and scheduled the appointment for me. Safelite is great about sending email/text updates. They even send you the name & photo of the technician coming to repair your window (which the dork in me really likes). Initially a technician was supposed to come to our house to replace the glass, but being that it was December and the conditions outside were not ideal, they asked if we could reschedule our appointment. I understood and even offered to bring the car to the Safelite garage instead because we weren't sure when the weather was going to get any better. My husband ended up waiting just 2 hours or so on the window. They're in a great location, so he walked to lunch and walked back when he was done. No complaints whatsoever about the look of the install, it's great. There was some black residue left near the curtain airbag on the passenger side when it was all said and done. Not a huge deal, but definitely noticeable. Customer service was top-notch. I highly recommend Safelite. This was our third time using them, first time with this location. If insurance is covering your damages, you literally don't need to do anything else but wait for Safelite to show up. Now that's convenience. read more

Had my cracked Miata front windshield replaced in my driveway at my cost., July 2022. Installer lost both cowl covers, one into the engine bay, where it is still hidden. Installer assured me Safelight would replace. I got in the car next AM, and found the windshield defective, with large ripples that distort the driver and passenger images. Meanwhile Hugo tells me the cover parts were impossible to find anywhere in Chicago area. He tells me I should go to a junkyard to seek the dime sized plastic covers . Different Safelight installer 11 days later replaced windshield, saying previous installer should have noticed the glass defect. . Next AM my car will not start. AAA service that night shows me the battery cables are disconnected since 2nd installer visit. . I visit Hugo next day,, a Saturday, saying parts not available anywhere. . I ask, "Did you call the nearby Miata dealer where I purchased the car? Hugo says to my face, "Oh Yes. They told me, cannot find it available." I respond, "Then tell why my call this same Saturday AM to my above stated Miata dealer responded immediately "Sure, parts will be here Tuesday. $4 per, total $8." Hugo shows a SEG. Gives me his Biz card. No subsequent answers or messaging. Hugo later tells me that desk line is never manned, Hugo later assured me he found the parts and will call me when arrived. 2 weeks ago now. My partner paid the additional fee to have them come to our house and replace the front windshield a week prior to our road trip. It's been 5 days and we are now 2 states out - the molding has lifted and is flapping around. This has caused the car paint to become chipped and the sunroof glass to have scrapes. Unfortunately my windshield had a pencil sized hole in it after a rock had hit it on 294. The cracks extended just beyond the siZe of a quarter :( I have insurance through Geico so I set up my appointment through their app (it was so convenient and easy). Brought my car in, and was greeted promptly at the front. It was explained to me that there was a possibility that the crack could extend down the window during the repair (gulp) and depending on the size of the hole, I may still see some of the cracks although it was repaired. Thankfully It didn't happen on the driver's side so I said to go ahead and do it. While the glass did not crack further, sure enough I could see where the hole was. I am glad that it was fixed and since they have a great warranty, I can always bring it back if something further should happen. The procedure took about 30 minutes. The waiting area has refreshments, tables, chairs and is very clean. Free wi-fi also. read more

Their place is clean, comfortable and modern which made it easier for the ninety minute wait. Their work space is also visually open so you can take a look at your car and see how things are going. There is free soda and water, a television, and they were in walking distance of many places if you need something to eat. The glass was fixed to my satisfaction and they informed me on everything I would need to know about taking of it. There is also a lifetime warranty, although I haven't looked into what that covers. Can't really comment on the price since insurance covered it. Altogether, I would happily use them again. read more
