Jeff is the GM and let me know that they were there to help and were very honest with me on my extenuating circumstance and having to deal with a very one off circumstance. I told them I was okay with whatever outcome and the important thing was my well-being and that it could have been a lot worse and I could care less about the one off circumstance I'm having to face. Jeff let me know they were there to help and I was in good hands-all corny insurance puns intended. Repairs and parts will be a venture because of delays with shipments and overall booking but they were very accommodating and helped me out with the process. They were also very hands on and wrote the estimate for me within 15-20 min instead of brushing me to the side. Convenient. Please go anywhere else but here. We dropped off our car 3 weeks ago. Was told it would be done in 2. When 2 weeks came around, it got pushed back another week (without notifying us). When the 3rd week came around it got pushed back another week. Every single time we called we were told Crystal would call back. She called once... during the 3rd week just to tell us the car would be another week. Was told at first that insurance would have to provide us with rental car before they would until week 3 when they finally gave us a car. The wait is understandable as they were waiting for a part for our car. Whats unacceptable is the fact that we were never updated unless we called, and no sort of solution or remedy was offered until I expressed my dissatisfaction. 1. It took them 23 days to repair a minor front bumper 2. From day one they committed to delivering the car on August 23rd (I dropped it off on August 4th). Only when I pushed them did they suddenly produce an excuse: the replacement part they received was damaged. Not once did anyone call me proactively to tell me this -- I had to chase them for every update. 3. Ben and Mia were extraordinarily rude and completely unprofessional. They refused to answer my calls, and even after I escalated, nobody lifted a finger to move things along. 4. Because of their delays, I was forced to rent a car for an additional 13 days at a cost of roughly $1,500 -- money the insurance company would not cover and that came straight out of my pocket. 5. The worst. They have had my car for over 2 months and have promised it would be ready multiple days and still no honest response. First it was scheduled to be ready 10/4. They needed another day. Then 10/5 they told me they had to take it to the dealer. Then they said it would be ready 10/16. 10/16 they said they still have some last parts they were waiting for but it would be ready 10/18. 10/18 they told me there was something with the dashboard and needed another day. 10/19 they said they needed more time and it would be ready Monday I called three times. At 4:45 they said they were talking about the car and would call me back in 10-15 minutes. They didn't call me back. This morning (10/24) I decided to stop in first thing in the morning. Now they're "calibrating" the car. " Should be done today otherwise they will take it to the dealer. This is UNACCEPTABLE. They are dishonest and completely unreliable. Take your car anywhere but here. This afternoon, car still not ready. They NEVER took it to the dealer and are still waiting for a part. Liars! Completely unprofessional and entirely incompetent. Whenever I do get my car back, I will be taking to the dealer myself to check and the bill will be sent to Gerber. Their lifetime guarantee means nothing when they are incompetent to start. The reviews do not lie! I wish I would have read them before contacting them! My windshield cracked last Thursday on the way to work. I decided to make a reservation on Saturday so I could bring it in myself (I would never make it after work). They stated that they would call me on Saturday morning. I still didn't hear anything back from them by 9am so I called their number.. Why don't they have a local number? Anyway, I was told that the tech called off so the soonest they could do it was Monday. I had to check with my parents to see if they could bring it in on MLK day (since I had work). I told them I would call them back. My parents said "yes" so I called back five minutes later. I was told by Gerber "no problem:. Monday rolls around and I do not hear anything so I called at 10:30. The person I spoke to on Saturday morning never put in the notes I called back and made an appointment. Surprise! They couldn't do it yesterday. They would call me on Tuesday and they offered a small discount. So we are at today, still no call. Call at 9:30 and was told they would call back in 10-15 minutes. No call. I call back at 10:45 am and they said that they would call me back. They never called. Thank goodness my mother wasn't working and she went directly to the place and they magically got it done around 1pm. Avoid this place! I know the prices are hard to beat, but I will not be going back here and telling others to stay away. I am a pretty positive reviewer, but this was terrible! read more

Excellent location, fantastic repair jobs. I have been coming here for years. They also stand by their work. Once, when the repair paint job started to blemish slightly after one year, they repainted it free of charge and even paid for a rental. The Enterprise Rent a Car is just across the street so it is quite convenient. Jamie, the representative who assisted me many times in the past, is always very professional and courteous. The prices are reasonable, but not the cheapest. There are far cheaper options. But, I learned the hard way that sometimes you need to pay for the best. When I went long ago to a cheap place, the paint started crackling and the shine lost it's luster. And they did not stand by their work like Gerber does. read more

I went to Gerber Collision in Skokie on 3/16/2020 with my Audi A8 when I say Cindy called me every week to let me know the progress of my car. I really appreciate her for that. Due to the COVID-19 it was a little delay on getting some parts for the car but when she got a hold to them she called me. She didn't leave me out the loop at all. Cindy called me Friday and told me my car was ready. I went to the shop to pick up my car when my car came out it was more beautiful coming out than before the accident. I highly recommend Cindy. Freddy did my work on my car and he did a GREAT JOB. Gerber is awesome. read more

It took me over a week more, when they said my car was going to be done. They also broke my key FOB when I cane to pick up my car, and never replaced it for a new one. Here's what they did to me: I took my Jeep in after it had been mugged while parked at the Irving Park el stop. Someone used a crow bar on the driver's door and then broke the side window. Anyway, my insurance company recommended Gerber and this was the one closest to me. I took the car in and dropped it off. Several days later they called me and told me they were done and that I could pick it up. I had someone drive me over and I checked out the repair, which looked fine to me, signed some papers and headed directly home. On the drive home, I noticed that the passenger side mirror was folded in, as if someone had parked it in a tight spot and needed to fold the mirror in to prevent it being damaged. When I got home, I parked outside my garage and walked around to the other side of the car to return the mirror to the unfolded position, only to find that the passenger door had a huge (and I mean huge!) dent and scrape near the bottom. Of course I called Gerber immediately and told them about the damage, and took my car back right away. The guy in the office said that he had seen the other damage when I brought it in! When I asked him, if that was true, why he hadn't told me about the damage and suggested that they repair it, he kind of shrugged and showed me a piece of paper which was dated the day I brought the car in, that indicated damage to the passenger door. Of course, it only had HIS name on it. He said they could do a repair job on the door, using body filler, and would give me a discount! I told him that they would never touch another car of mine, ever. I can't prove that they did the damage, but that sure is the logical conclusion. What body shop would see that kind of damage on a car and not call the owner to suggest it be repaired? I think these guys are liars and if you take your car there be sure to complete and sign a condition statement before you leave their shop. Note too that their garage area has columns with wide concrete bases which would do a lot of damage to the lower part of a car door if some car hike were to try and park too close to them. I feel weird giving 5 stars to a place like this, but here I am. The tl;dr backstory: I encountered a suicidal squirrel in a poorly designed parking lot in my brand new 2015 Honda Fit in early October. I ended up swerving and going up on a curb at 10 mph to avoid it. Squirrel lived, the subframe of my brand new car did not. The car pulled to the right a lot. I was hoping it was just a tire alignment thing, but when I took it to the dealer they told me I jacked up the subframe and would need a $1500 new one. Awesome. I initially went to Ray's Body Shop off of Howard Street, which is where the dealer recommended. That place smelled like fuel, it was crazy dirty and messy, and it took 20 minutes before someone came out an noticed me (it wasn't until someone else came in after me and walked through several "employee only" signs to get to the back room to flag someone down that anyone came out). They never even looked at the damage on my car, and just pulled up an estimate. I felt it was sketchy, so I looked into Gerber since my insurance suggests them/their work is guaranteed. I worked with Jack, who was awesome. He put my car up on blocks, took pictures, etc. He also provided an estimate, similar to what Ray's came up with, but a bit more due to some uncertainty in labor hours (after all, my car is so new no one had ever replaced a subframe on this model, so they couldn't guarantee the labor hours). It took about a week for them to get the parts in since my car is so new that they had to order directly from the Honda plant. I dropped off my car a few days later on a Wednesday, and they kept me updated with text updates and several phone calls. it turns out they did need one additional part (they were sent the wrong one), which they realized early on a Thursday morning. They had initially said I could pick up my car Friday morning, but it looked like that wasn't going to be the case. I was annoyed because I didn't want to pay for another day (or more, because the weekend) of rental cars. So, they finished the repair, except for the one missing part that was only cosmetically damaged but still in working condition, and let me pick up my car Thursday afternoon. Then, the next week when the correct part came in, they called me and I was able to bring my car over, wait 30 minutes for the final repair, and be on my way. This is the first car that I've personally been responsible for/owned, so I've never gone through this process before. Gerber made it painless, and their customer service is really top notch. Unlike at the other place, I didn't feel sketched out, and I don't feel like they were taking advantage of my naive single femaleness. I really hope I never need a body shop again (next time I will just kill the stupid squirrel), but if Ii do I would definitely come back here. read more

I took my car here after being hit from an accident since State Farm Insurance recommended it. The service was ok, a little slow if you ask me. As far as the work they performed on my car... My right headlight was busted and my bumper + hood had been dented and scratched. They did well on the headlight since it is one big piece, but as far as fixing the hood/bumper/paint... my hood has been crooked ever since I have brought it here. It's hard to lift my hood without it rubbing against the upper part of my fender and now the paint has been rubbed off. Next, the paint started chipping off after 1 year near my headlight and bumper. I brought back since they gave me a card letting me know that I had warranty with a full guarantee on their service. They told me that they NEVER repaired my vehicle around that area and that the only thing they can do is fix my hood. NOW, the hood is what I didn't care about the most and didn't even want to waste my time with letting them have it for a day. I was furious because I KNOW they had repaired my vehicle on that area plus repainted it. I didn't want to deal with the manager anymore... He was annoying and it didn't seem like I was going to get through to him. Point is, I've definitely had BETTER service + BETTER body work at other places. I would steer clear from this place... State Farm has other body shop options as well. read more

RUN do not WALK away from Gerber in Skokie. They gave me back my "repaired" car with the check engine light on and with it shaking violently when the brakes were applied. Didn't even get around the block before I had to take it back. When I picked the car up they tried to shake me down for a bill on a diagnostic I told them 3 times NOT to run. Finally when the paint on the bumper they replaced bubbled,cracked,and fell off after a couple of months, SAM at Gerber told me that that is what happens to bumper paint if the bumper is bumped into. My experience with Gerber can best be described as diasppointing and frustrating. I had two cars with small bumper damage requiring paint blending, and in both instances the work was substandard and had to be done twice. After all that, the final work was still sub-par: paint didn't match, there were bare spots, and they left bubbles. They had the nerve to give me touch-up paint, that didn't even match, to finish the job. What is more aggravating is there employees are confrontational and unprofesssional. I feel sorry for their GM E. Azzaro, who tried to be accomodating but he just couldn't compensate for their inferior workmanship. When he said to me "this is as good as it gets", I chalked this one up as a one of life's lessons and moved on. Be aware, if you value professional work and people, you won't find it here. read more

The staff were very friendly in keeping me up to date on what was going on with my car. I would go back here again, no doubt. I broke off my right side-view mirror and we took it in to several dealers to get quotes on it and we got prices at like 1,200 dollars for a little damage. We went to the Gerber dealer in Glenview (1904 Lehigh Ave) and they gave us a price half of that. I just picked up my car today, and they were so kind and fast and they said that the assembly didnt take as long as expected so they took $100 off the price we agreed to pay ! When I got in my car, it was clean and gleaming, just beautiful- like new! I read some bad reviews for this place at other locations, but I know the one in glenview is amazing. I definitely reccommend this place if you ever need any car repairs. The facilities are new and beautiful as well. read more
