We bought a Dryer from Gerhard's (Jordan was out salesman). It arrived dented and with a large dark/rough area in the back. The installers took a picture and submitted it. It took Jordan about a week and a half to get me answer of no. I had to call him repeatedly. He didn't call me back.He said that I've had it too long. I've been trying to exchange it since I got it. Used them for 1st time, the installers forgot to hook up the washer hose and left it sitting behind the washer, our washer is on the 2nd floor and it ruined our wood floor upstairs, water went thru our kitchen ceiling and down to our basement. I don't get why the ratings are so low because we truly had an EXCEPTIONAL experience working with Gerhard's - and specifically Dave C (and then their awesome delivery folks). Long story short, I fell prey to the cheaper prices of Lowe's only to be disappointed on every front. They had two weeks to get it right - ordering on 8/30 for 9/14 delivery. Fast forward to 9/14... despite being given an 8a to noon delivery time, our appliances never showed up. We got every excuse in the book (and then some), saw two companies blame one another (Lowe's vs. their outsourced delivery company, XPO Logistics), experienced staff that didn't give a darn to make things right, and more. NIGHTMARE. Long story short, I was pushed to cancel my order - and have to admit this experience brought out the worst in me after dealing with countless hours of drama (with the best / worst part being when the driver who had one of four appliances claiming to have tried to deliver but nobody was here... mind you, we live in a condo with a 24/7 concierge and cameras are here too). Let's just say Lowe's = 10 years taken off my life in a 12 hour period. I will spare the rest of the details but an happy to explain and share the two page letter I wrote to Lowe's executive office too. XPO finally reached out but it was too late. And sadly, the bridge has been burned with Lowe's forever for me (I have already been telling everyone and their brother or sister to not shop there and will likely continue as long as I can speak or write). Gerhard's - who we did visit when we thought we were going down a different path - came to our rescue. I learned a lesson - should have went local in the first place. Dave was great, responsive, helpful, thorough, and kind. He was not looking to upsell... he listened to our needs and helped deliver what we wanted. We set up delivery for about 8 days out (could have been 5 but we were out of town) and it was PERFECT. Clear communication, delivered in the window that was expected by THEIR STAFF - not a third party, and they were truly great too (they were seriously some of the nicest guys ever). We may have paid about $500 more than Lowe's but they had rebates available too, so for about $150 more for four appliances, we had an amazing experience. I actually work in customer experience and I am so glad that our bad path led us back to Gerhard's. If we ever need appliances, they will be the only place we go. I have already started to refer folks there too. Don't waste your time on the big box companies that don't care about the customer. I learned that lesson big time... read more

Very disappointing service. Coordination of delivery was simple, but was for a 4 hour window. I was promised a call 30 minutes before the delivery truck would arrive. No such call ever arrived. Otherwise installation was fine. The Salesperson convinced us to purchase $20 replacement hoses that would be installed during the delivery, if necessary. If not - he promised we would be credited for them. When the hoses were not required, they only agreed to credit us for $9. Not a large loss - but certainly an annoying one. They made a triple appliance failure almost painless. Times are tough with quarantine, so I wanted to shop local for my refrigerator, washer and dryer. We walked into the Ardmore store already knowing what we wanted since I had shopped on their website. An attentive sales rep took our order and set up delivery. I do not see the point in going to this "appliance store". At the Spring House location, I told the sales person I needed a washer dryer stack unit for a tight space. He said the only product now available is the Blomberg brand. Supply chain issues. He assured me this brand was good because the manufacturer is an OEM for such brands as Wolf. The unit vibrated so bad that the dryer almost fell off the washer. The screws holding the dryer on ripped out. The washer has also leaked water on the floor. It does not do this consistently but who needs the hassle. I went back to Gerhards within 10 days and was told there is nothing they can do. Gerhards cannot take it back because it is used. They have no service. I was told to Call the distributor for warranty service. The service tech who came out could do nothing. It is all about selling the customer whatever they can and then hands off. Never go to Gerhards. No responsible adult on site. Just "sales" looking to take your money. The sales person "Ed Ferguson" has never called me back. The sales person sold me a service contract for three years but it does not take effect until after the 1 year warranty. I still have not received any documentation for the so called extended warranty. The worst kind of sales people, just take the money and run. read more

I would prefer to give Gerhard's Appliances a zero star review. The one star I selected is being overly generous. We purchased multiple appliances from Gerhard's in Ardmore in July 2019. Our sales rep, Matthew Ashley, confirmed that the appliances would be held in the warehouse until we were ready for them to be delivered. Since we were completing a full kitchen renovation we didn't need the appliances delivered until mid-September. This is where everything fell apart. First, we couldn't get a return phone call from our sales rep confirming that 9/19 was an acceptable delivery date. We finally spoke to someone in delivery who confirmed we were on the schedule. The day before delivery we receive an email that lists everything to be delivered. The Bosch refrigerator and freezer columns were missing so we called to confirm this was an oversight. Nope, they just decided that no communication was better than delivering the bad news that they actually didn't have the fridge and freezer columns. I'm pretty sure they have a company excuse manual because I have heard just about all of them. Everything from 1) it's back ordered 2) it shipped, but the tracking number got lost 3) it's Bosch's fault.... It is now October 1 and the fridge and freezer we ordered and paid for almost three months ago has yet to be delivered and NO ONE will give me any indication as to when it will be nor will they even return a phone call. NEVER do business with this company. There is no accountability and I am currently paying a contractor to be on hold because they continue to fail to meet their end of the contract between us. read more

Super disappointing experience for us with Gerhards. We needed a new washer and dryer for our new home and popped in to see what they had. Fortunately they had something that worked perfectly for us and we were ready to go. Since I've bought plenty of these things in the past I asked about the supplies for the hookups and we were informed that the delivery drivers take care of that for us, a perk of buying with Gerhards and that there was a 40$ rebate for the delivery charges going on then as well. I was stoked! Delivery day comes and the guys inform us that they can sell me the dryer ducting but it's cash only, which I don't carry usually anymore. Not only that but they don't have the fittings needed for the gas on my gas dryer, AND they don't have the connections for the steam feed for my dryer. So now I'm pretty annoyed that this stuff was to be included and now I have to source it on my own at HD. I also, only have a manual for my washing machine, nothing for the dryer. The next day I go through the process of getting everything I need (turns out to be around 45$ bye bye rebate bonus) and hook it up myself. I called to complain to Gerhards and the sales person was very apologetic on the phone but nobody from management called to speak to us like he said would happen. 4 days later a Gerhards truck arrives to deliver and install a new washer and dryer... Communication is of paramount importance when dealing with customers and even more important when you messed up your end of the deal with the customer. It's now been 6 weeks and we still haven't received our rebate and never got any call back from them regarding the mistakes. I would love to recommend a local appliance shop to people but I'm afraid this won't be the one. read more

Quoted a price on switching the door opening on a dryer... They went in later and changed the price.... Then sent me a bill for the difference...which I did not pay... With that being said.... Returned the dryer vent for the refund...because it was not needed... NEVER got my money back...even though they said I got the credit.... Which I did not... I guess this is why I am not getting my refund due to me... I went to this place because I did not want to go to Lowe's or Home Depot... I wanted to go with a reputable business... If I could give 0 stars I would. This has been the worst experience I have ever encountered with any sales and repair department for anything. Our Bosch dishwasher started leaking so we called to get it repaired. It took 2 weeks but someone finally came and said it needed a new small part that connected to the waterline. I paid about $260 for the part and the visit. Three weeks later the part was deliovered and 2 weeks after that they were able to come out for the 2nd time. It ran fine for about 3 days. I reported it and 2 weeks later someone was able to come out for the 3rd visit. They said the same part was bad and ordered another. two weeks later the part was delivered. 3 weeks after that they were able to come out for the 4th visit. It worked for about 10 days and again was leaking. On the 5th visit the guy came out and when he was working on it pulled some wires out of where it plugged into the part and now that part was needed along with some kind of strap to hold the part thqat connected to the water line on. When I called and talked to a guy named Duane in the Glenside store I asked to talk to one of the Gerhards that ran the servicing department. I told Duane what was wrong after he asked me why I wanted to speak to Mr Gerhard and he asked me what I thought he would be able to do. I said I wanted to get somebody out there to take care of it asap because it had already been 4 months trying to get this fixed. He asked me if I thought I should get special treatment and have someone else bumped for me and I told him that actually after trying to get it done for 4+ months I thought I deserved it. He then told me if it was him he would just BUY ANOTHER DISHWASHER! Unbelievable. Then he told me he would send Mr. Gerhards an email asking him to get in touch with me. I'm sure that never happened because I don't think Gearhard's has stayed in business as long as they have with such crappy customer service but here we are, over 3 weeks have gone by since the last visit and I have no part, no service, no phone call and no working dishwasher. It has been 5 months since this fiasco started and I'm telling you, buy anywhere other than Gearhard's because once they sell it to you, you're on your own. Lets see if I get any response from them. Let me start by caveating my poor review with the help I actually received knowledge-wise from the sales team (Nicole) was very good. My review is specifically targeting the delivery team and department at Gerhard's. We spent ~$25,000 on thermador appliances and had paid Gerhards about $1,000 to install them. They only provided a partial refund, and refuse to refund the rest. My advice - do not use them to install. The installer team's first comments to us were "we don't know how to install a thermador cooktop or downdraft". So, we didn't really get off on the right foot. When the team was "done", they just left without saying a thing to us... didn't ask us any questions throughout, didn't show us what was done/not done. It was a disaster and I had to pay another contractor to install everything again. Here's the list of issues: Refrigerator wasn't leveled at all nor pushed back into the cabinet correctly. Dishwasher was screwed into a bracket via the countertop - which is not correct for a panel-ready dishwasher. Wasn't leveled, not plugged in, not tested, rubber seals not put on correctly on the side, kick plate not installed and the drain hose wasn't done correctly (it backwashed upon emptying when we first used it...) Oven doors not put on correctly, bracket for oven not done correctly (it's not supposed to be screwed in for side open doors and our door scratched the first time it was opened), no burn in cycle completed/tested. So we had to issue a complaint to get a new inside panel since it scratched the first time we opened it! All the extra items with the oven were left on the counter and not put in/installed (rotisserie spicket that should have been put inside). Cooktop/Downdraft literally not touched (he said he didn't even know how to do it) and just left it all in a pile. Microwave drawer - installed onto the outer trim which is removable... didn't ask us at all how we wanted it done. The cabinet was set up for flush mount (electrical box was in there for the cutout of the microwave drawer but the guy didn't ask us, he just installed it). The installer just left w/o saying anything or reviewing any of the appliances with us - maybe this is standard, but it doesn't feel right to me to at least not ask if we had any questions or even review anything (especially since he didn't even install half the items we paid to have him install). Our sales rep informed us we'd get a refund for everything, but I was tossed to their delivery/accounting department to handle for myself. Since I'm not being heard from them, I've moved on to my CC company and the BBB since they told me they will not refund me any more items... which is absurd since not a single thing was done correctly or how it should have been done. I refuse to pay for anything that was not done right. I guess $25k still can't buy decent installers (and again to be clear the sales team was very helpful and nice). Delivery team is a nightmare and they should consider outsourcing for higher end installs with subzero Thermador wolf etc. I also see the standard rely by the owner to just contact their customer service email - waste of time. The day before they called texted and emailed me the window for delivery. On the day they reminded me and then sent a text when they were ten minutes away. Beware of Frigidaire Appliances. Updating AGAIN Has to be the worst refrigerator ever made. They finally replaced the refrigerator. Within ONE DAY the brand new refrigerator is leaking from the water dispenser. SAME PROBLEM as the one year refrigerator except BRAND NEW. They refuse to replace this one and have been out TWO TIMES so far to. TRY to fix it. Once again no one has a clue. They took a broken refrigerator and left a broken refrigerator. DO NOT BUY FRIGIDAIRE APPLIANCES. Getting a run around from the factory now. They want me to stay home and wait on them AGAIN while they add a part to the refrigerator. What? Did you forget to put it in when you built it? I requested an explanation and they REFUSE to tell me why u am taking off work for the ninth time for their crap refrigerator and why this time will fix it. Told me to get a lawyer. Save yourself the grief. Do not buy Frigidaire products. I guess I will start blasting them on social media until they act responsibly. Updating again. They came out and replaced the water distribution system because it was leaking... Over the weekend the temperature in the freezer climbed up to 26 again. The water distribution system is still leaking so not certain why they bothered with that. Apparently if there's food in the freezer you can't use the freezer. Something is wrong with this freezer and nobody wants to take responsibility despite their lie at the bottom of thi to please contact them directly. I have contacted them over and over and over and they don't return calls. For the final time because I am truly done with this nonsense don't buy from this company they are absolutely the worst service organization I have ever encountered. Updating again. Still broken. First repair person has been fired per owner and he is taking charge. Ha. He has ignored calls since Monday. His repairman came it Friday and said the first service man was wrong. Another part ordered. Going on a month now. What a racket. Investigating small claims court for the food loss and the property damage. BUY FROM THEM AT YOUR OWN Update: left he owner a message and no call. Still not repaired. Service manager blew me off twice now b can't warn people enough. NO SERVICE WhATSOEVER. If I could give ZERO stars, I would for Gerhard's. Wife and I remodeled our kitchen, and we purchased a range, wall oven, dishwasher, and fridge from Gerhard's. They have an excellent selection of products, including carrying Blue Star appliances which was the main draw for us. Pricing wasn't horrible either, the showroom was pleasant, and the sales people mostly helpful. I was also keen on the idea of a family owned and operated store, and it helped that the salesperson working with us was a Gerhard. So we had no reservations moving forward with significant purchases. The first of many issues came when it was time to take delivery of the items. We got a call a couple weeks before informing us that all items were in and ready to be delivered. So we worked with our contractor to schedule delivery and ensure his team was available to direct the appliances where they needed to go and begin installation. While the delivery did come on time, only half of the items were on the truck! To top it off, the wrong model dishwasher was delivered, and before anyone realized it, the appliance was installed and operational. It was a pain in the ass fixing that mixup, and involved a 1.5 month long process involving at least two phone calls a week. Upon learning that only half of the items were delivered, a phone call to Gerhard's resulted in sorry, your sales person no longer works for the company (so much for being a family business!!!!) and "we don't know what happened. We'll call you back." This was the first of many no call backs. Big strike against customer service there. Ultimately, the impression given was that the items that weren't delivered weren't even ordered! Gerhard's also cared less that my contractor and team were at a standstill on my dime, and that their time and my money was completely wasted due to their disorganization. While I wouldn't have been thrilled with acknowledgment of a screwup before scheduling delivery, a bit of honesty on their end could have spared me wasted time and money. Three weeks later, the same phone call comes: all of your items are ready for delivery. All of them, I ask? "All of them. We promise." Same routine: get crew on site day of delivery for quick turn around. This time, however, Gerhard's delivery fails to show up!!!!! It took multiple calls to their warehouse to figure out what was going on, but not a soul had any idea. Yes: you are scheduled for delivery before 4PM today. Oh, it's already 4PM? Let me call the driver. Sorry, the driver is busy, call I call you back? You know the routing by now. Ultimately, I gave up waiting, and told them to schedule delivery for the next day so I could send the crew home. Fortunately, Gerhard's delivery service did show up the next day as promised. Unfortunately, it was groundhog day: not all of the items were delivered, yet again! Come on... really? Not much time was wasted on the contractor's end this time around as the big items were delivered, just not the dishwasher from the earlier fiasco, but still. Another call to Gerhard's resulted in a "we don't know what happened." Knowing it would be another multiple call effort to sort through the details, I ended up driving to the store and picking up the item myself. AND IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH, though I paid for the appliances up front in full (mistake on my part... all of my leverage was gone, and I couldn't simply say forget it: keep the appliances and I'm going elsewhere), I later received a bill telling me that a charge that was waived by the original sales person with the last name of Gerhard's who no longer works there was being added back to the bill. WTF? This item is still unresolved, and I'm not happy about it in the least. Bottom line, Gerhard's is disorganized and does not have the skill set or training required to properly deal with customers and fix their own mistakes--of which there were many in my experience. I purchased an extended warranty on my washer from them and have had nothing but problems with the fly by night company they assigned my contract too. When I called Gehard's they basically said they can't get through to the place either and there is nothing they can do to help me. Do not order from this store! Absolutely the worst delivery and customer service. We purchased a washer/dryer combination. Was thrilled that the item could be delivered and installed the 2 days later. The night before, I received a telephone call, email and text message at almost 10 pm ( I was told the confirmation would be received between 7-9 pm) stating the 4 hour delivery window and that I would receive a phone call 40 minutes prior to delivery. I tried to utilized the delivery tracker that they sent in an email so that I could get a better idea of when the delivery would occur but it did not work. I called the delivery department at least 3 times to see if they could give me a better estimate of when the delivery would be made. I was told that based on their tracking, the delivery men had 2 more stops before mine and that it would be at the end of the delivery window. Long story short, I never received a call. They said they called but I do not have any missed calls on my cellphone. My daughter was waiting at the house the entire day. She did not hear them come to the door. The manager said that his men would not be able to come back to the house and that he wouldn't be able to reschedule the delivery until probably next week. If this is how this company operates, I can only imagine how they handle service calls and warranty issues! I asked for a refund and was refunded all except the delivery charge! I called to ask for the delivery charges to be refunded and was told that their men were there and no one answered. I would think that with all the miscommunication on their part, that they would refund the delivery fee. What Crooks! read more

If it was possible I would rate this firm as a minus 1000 stars. We began the process of trying to purchase a new washer and dryer. Delivery was set up but due to the blunder of the salesperson the delivery man was trying to send a text message to a home line. Needless to say he left after not receiving a response. re delivery was not scheduled until 3 days later. This time they could not install because the drain hose was not long enough despite the fact that we explained same to the same salesman (Ray to Ardmore)....and better yet the delivery person told us that it was our responsibility to have purchased that for them to install. Once again Ray never told us any such thing. The install was again delayed for another couple of days because they did not have the stainless steel hook up lines that we purchased with the machines. And better yet all we got was excuses from the customer service dept ..the customer service manager and the sales manager, We then asked several times to speak with the owner of the firm ...but we were told he was far too busy to speak with us. Then on another attempt it was determined that the dryer was defective and had to wait another 3 days for a repairman from a firm owned by gerhards to confirm that it was in fact defective. I could go on and on and on....but the bottom line is to avoid this firm like the plague. Instead go to Ray's in Conshocken. Better prices quick delivery left us very satisfied !!! read more

We received our new refrigerator today and I couldn't be happier. Despite having to wait almost two weeks for delivery, I'm very satisfied with the service we received from Gerhard. Phil sold us the fridge and the two gentleman who delivered and installed it did and incredible job. They were professional, courteous, and efficient. They called when they were just 15 mins. away and arrived ready to work. Both of the gentlemen wore masks while working and answered all of my questions. I am so disappointed in Gerhard's. Let me begin by saying that we have been longtime customers. A few weeks ago we ordered two new dishwashers to be installed in our home. The installer, who was outsourced by Gerhard's, was unable to complete the task and left our home leaving a pipe uncapped. The result was a tremendous amount (more than $8,000) of water damage. What we found most astonishing is that Gerhard's refused to pay for the damage. They sent us to the insurance company of the third party, who refused to cover the damage despite a plumber's report that indicated that the installer was at fault. The sales rep at Gerhard's admitted to me multiple times on the phone that she couldn't believe that this was happening to us, that it was clearly their error... and yet they still have expected for us to cover this loss ourselves. We purchased a dishwasher and refrigerator in June and are pleased with both products. Delivery was on time and drivers were professional and courteous. However, we are very frustrated with their rebate process. I agree with a previous review stating they have an excuse for everything. We call and email weekly and keep being told "the check is in the mail." We are now at week 19 and still no check. They need to do better or just forget promoting rebates. read more

I was really nervous after reading the terrible reviews of Gerhards. But I purchased a GE French door refrigerator and had a very good experience. Phil was my salesman who was very knowledgeable about the best fridge for my space and needs. It was delivered within one week of purchase, while other stores had a 2-3 month backlog. The delivery team (Lloyd) was friendly, professional and did a great job installing it in perfect condition. They called me when they were 10 minutes away and again when they arrived. There was no damage to my floors, furniture or doorway. I have not had to deal with the customer service department, but the sales and delivery teams were both great! read more

I had an hour to kill near Ardmore so I went in to get specs for the appliances I needed for my son's new addition to take to a kitchen designer appointment 3 days later. I had decided to give Gerhard's another chance in spite of a prior bad experience with buying my dryer in the Malvern store. The Ardmore salesman promised to send me two things later that day: 1). A price for the appliances and 2). The specs in time for the kitchen appointment which was to be sent by someone else in the office. I got the prices that day. Not so timely for the specs. The day after my appointment I emailed him to tell him that I would not be buying from GErhards because I had not received the promised information in time for my appointment. That was in the third week of October. Just before Christmas I got a call from Gerhards. I told them they must have the wrong number because I had ordered nothing. I thought it was a mistake. Today, January 4th, I get a text telling me my appliances would be delivered to my home address tomorrow between 1 and 5. She said it was a number of appliances. I asked if by chance they were ordered by Ardmore. She said yes. I asked if they normally delivered appliances that nobody had paid for. She said they did not. I had not signed an purchase order. I had not paid any money. The house is still 2 months from being ready for appliance AND they didn't have the address for where the appliances would be needed. There is NO WAY an order could have been misunderstood. There was no order. To give you an idea of the scope of business they lost: washer, dryer, 3 microwaves, 3 dishwashers, 3 garbage disposals, induction stove with double ovens and 2 refrigerators. I called the Ardmore manager and at his request forwarded him the emails between the salesman and me from that week in late October. I am not asking for anything from Gerhards because there is nothing needed to be done to rectify an order that never happened. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around why a salesman would do this. He must have known that eventually this moment would come. And what kind of internal controls must Gerhard have to get to where they scheduled the delivery on AT LEAST 10 appliances that nobody had bought? At the time of my call to the manager, the salesman still worked there. I have no intention of buying ANYTHING EVER from Gerhards again. From the reviews I just read, it appears I am not alone in that opinion. read more

We ordered all new appliances for our kitchen which we are remodeling. We went to Gerhard's thinking they would be better to deal with than Home Depot, etc. Wrong! Their prices are good but the service is awful. Our stove arrived with a huge dent in the side. The delivery people said they called and would have it exchanged. No one ever called. After calling them at least 6 times and never getting a return call, my husband said we would call our credit card company. That got their attention. The next week we received our SECOND damaged stove. They said they would give us a refund of $50 on a $700 stove. We have not received the refund. I guess they hope we'll just give up. I decided to buy my appliances at Gerhard's due to good reviews. I purchased them on September 7th. I was told that the refrigerator wouldn't be available until December. I agreed to wait. On December 7th, not having heard from them, I decided to call. A friendly young man told me that everything was available except the microwave. I told him that I wanted everything else delivered anyway. He scheduled me for 12/21 and told me that I would receive a call the day before about what time frame they would come. When I didn't receive a call I called them today, the day of the delivery. Today I was told that there was no delivery scheduled for me. Now I have to wait until January 5th. This is unacceptable treatment. They need to get their stories straight and follow through. Will I ever get appliances? I have little faith in this company. read more

After purchasing a refrigerator,a dishwasher, a gas grill and more recently a washer and dryer from Gerhards, I've had it with their horrible customer service which borders on the unscrupulous if not downright dishonest. I paid for installation along with my purchase of the washer and dryer. The surly delivery man informed me that the power chord with the dryer was too short and that I would have to purchase and install this myself. He left my machines out in the kitchen. The $30 part was hard to obtain as Lowe's, Home Depot and Ace did not carry it, but I did find one and installed it Then the piping to drain the washing machine was too short to reach the drain pipe. When I called Gerhards, they told me to get a plumber. I then called the salesmen, Matthew Ashley, who sold me the machines. He was apologetic, and told me they'd refund the installation fee and the cost of the power chord and that he would come out with a repair man to fix everything. This was on a Friday and he said he'd call me on Monday to make arrangements which he didn't. I called him and again he was apologetic and said he would take care of everything. Suffice it to say after more phone calls and emails, I've never received a refund nor assistance with my appliances. If you look at other online reviews you'll see that mine is not an uncommon complaint. Lying and not standing by their products is hard to understand and unacceptable. I'd suggest you look elsewhere if you want a store that will deliver what they promise and who care about their customers. read more
