Our experience with Gerhard's Appliances was very pleasant. Our sales rep, Cassio was excellent and the Glenside, PA location! He was able to get us a great deal on 4 kitchen appliances with our tight budget. He was very friendly, quick, and made it a very enjoyable experience. Prior to us deciding to go to Gerhard, we went to one of those big box retailers and was completed screwed over. Basically had to get refunded and start all over again. Not even the manager of the store acknowledged us during our entire 35 minutes in the store. No greeting, nothing. My husband and I bought some high end kitchen appliances here three years ago. We thought the service was good then. Fast forward three years and the hood keeps turning on by itself. We called for service knowing the warranty is likely up and would have to pay. We were ok with that. I left three messages for the repairs department, one for the sales department and no one called me back. I called the Glenside location and finally got a sales person on the phone he was apologetic but the message I left for that location's service department was also never returned. I ended up contacting the manufacturer to refer me to a different seller. Ridiculous. read more

I was in the Ardmore store recently and was appalled that their Covid precautions were so poor as compared to other retail businesses that I've been in. Sales help were all working closely in the check out area with no plexiglass separating one from the other or the customers. The sales associate's mask was falling below his nose and he had to frequently readjust it at my urging. I am really surprised that Gerhard's has not put into place better Covid precautions for their customers! read more

We have experienced the absolute WORST customer service from Gerhard's. We were helped by Linda Gerhard, who initially seemed nice, until our fridge never arrived and she refused to take our calls or answer our emails to get status updates. We have spoken to almost every sales person at the Fraser office and they have an attitude that "this is not their problem". Our new fridge is no where to be found, no information on where it is, and now our current fridge broke. I called to ask if they would send someone out to do a complimentary service of it, since we should have had our new fridge 6 months ago. The lady practically laughed at me and said, "why should we pay for it, it's not our fridge." Unbelievable laziness and a complete lack of customer service. Shame on you for using the global supply chain issues as an excuse to avoid friendliness and customer service. We will NEVER use Gerhard's again and highly recommend that you go somewhere else for your appliances. read more

I would give them a zero if Yelp would let me. We renovated our kitchen and bought all new appliances from Gerhard's. We made the mistake of buying their extended warranty. A couple years later, something went wrong with the oven, so I called them to activate our warranty. They told me that we had covered everything but the oven, which seemed odd to me, but the appliances had been delivered to my contractor to install, so I had no receipt showing me what was covered, so I had to take their word for it. A few months later, we had issues with the microwave, so I called them to get it fixed. The person I talked to this time told me that we'd covered everything (including the oven) except the microwave. I had them check multiple times and each person now gave the story that we'd covered everything but the microwave. We dealt with the microwave repair, as we had with the oven, on our own. We did send them the bill for our oven repair since they were now saying it was covered. Almost a year later, we have not been reimbursed. Now, I get a mailing from their warranty company New Leaf, telling me that my warranty is going to expire soon and don't I want to renew it. The mailer lists all the covered appliances, which include both my oven AND microwave. read more

In 2009 I bought a dishwasher from Gerhard's, and that was a good experience overall -- delivered on time, and installed properly. My last experience with Gerhard's was not good -- pretty terrible, in fact. I purchased a washer and gas dryer set, and on delivery day they showed up with the washer and an electric dryer. The correct dryer came two days later. They damaged the paint during installation, and attached a flexible exhaust hose -- in spite of the fact that the unit had a big attached placard prohibiting the use of flexible exhaust hoses. I confirmed with the manufacturer that the improper installation would void my warranty, so I called my sales person to complain. He apologized and offered to have a correct hose installed for free. When I called back to ask when I could expect the service person to arrive, I got a different person, who refused to believe what I had been promised, and told me this wasn't Gerhard's fault because the manufacturer never notified them of the new installation requirements. Apparently, a large warning attached to the side of each machine wasn't sufficient notification. In the end they basically told me I was lying -- that no one there would promise free installation work -- and that the installation error was not their fault. I had to pay for the correct installation myself. Had they told me at the time of sale that the only way to get a manufacturer-sanctioned installation was to pay a separate charge, I would have been fine with that. But they didn't -- they said installation was included. I went to Gerhard's because I want to support local businesses whenever I can. But they clearly don't keep up to date on the products the sell, and they're definitely not as good as their word. My experience there tells me I'm better off going to Amazon. I bought an LG refrigerator at Gerhard's appliances in Ardmore, 3 years ago. Yesterday it stopped working. I have a service policy with Gerhard's. So I contacted them right away. They gave me a number to call and the service said someone would contact me today. Today the run around began. Starting with Savannah from Fast appliance service. Earliest they could come out is December 26! She Told me I had to wait my turn. Not to mention something about calling another place to prove I had a contract. I just hung up. She did leave a message to move date to December 24. Then my husband called Gerhard's service and talked to Malcolm for a long time and moved the date to December 23. Then the repairman will order what part I need. Gerhard's claims to be a local family business. I was treated rudely by their sister company and they were unhelpful. I have a refrigerator and freezer full of food. It won't be even looked at till December 23. I think the least they could do us send a substitute refrigerator till it's fix. I bought the appliances and service contract in good faith and brought my business there for what I thought would be good service. I do not recommend Gerhard's because of their unreliable service. But the delivery service and assembly charges were so reasonable that I had to go with Gerhard! Joanna my salesperson sent me a quote and worked with me for a convenient delivery date. I have purchased from them 3 times now. I switched after getting sick of the Home Depot experience. I have to tell you that all three experiences have been poor. The first time I bought a refrigerator, which arrived with a broken icemaker. Second time I bought a dishwasher, and they installed it incorrectly. They had to come back out a few weeks later to fix it, and accused us of having taking the anchoring screws out. Then just now I bought a Dryer from them that also arrived broken. read more

To say we are upset with Gerhard's at this time is an understatement. I never write negative reviews but I am just so upset with this experience. We purchased a range and dishwasher on July 5 2020, and paid for them in full. Our salesperson said it was in stock, and they would hold it for us when ready for delivery. We called mid August only to find that they no longer have our applicances, and don't know when they will get them. It is over 2 months now and NO ONE can give us a straight answer. I understand that demand is high and supply is low due to the pandemic. What I don't understand is why our in stock applicances were given away, and why no one calls me back when they say they will. I am beyond stressed and upset over this experience. read more

Well, the service people at the store were very good. We bought our washing machine in good time, we even were able to get it delivered in a few days due to a cancellation. My problem is with one of the delivery people. I asked him not to bring the new washer down our outside slate steps on his dolly, I didn't want them to break. I wanted him to roll it down the other side of our house. He said 'how am I going to break a step?' I insisted and he did as I asked, but when they were done the washing machine was scratched (he did it getting it in the back door) and it was flat against the floor but not level, me and my wife had to fix it. I was glad to get them out of there. So, the store and service people were good, but it seems we caught the delivery guy on a bad day. read more

Too many problems that I had to deal with so had to write this review to caution everyone that if there are any issues, it will be a headache and the customer's responsibility to deal with all of them! I purchased a GE oven from the Ardmore location and the price was fair. I had purchased two refrigerators in the past and although the delivery wasn't seamless, the overall experience was good so I decided to shop here again. The oven arrived as scheduled and I was told that it wouldn't fit and it would be returned to the warehouse and I should go to the store to pick out a different one...and based on the measurements it should have fit but the delivery person wouldn't even bring it into the house try to fit it in unless I accepted all liability for damage they caused to it and my kitchen! Even though it was never brought into my house from the truck and the delivery person wouldn't try to fit it, I was told I would be charges a restocking fee which is usually 20%. I agreed to purchase a significantly more expensive model and was then told the more expensive model would be coming into stock the following week and I would hear from someone about the cost and the request to not charge a restocking fee, I never did and I had to follow-up until I was finally able to get confirmation of the cost but there would still be a 10% restocking fee. After returning to the store and then following up regularly, since I never received calls back even though I was told I would, I finally received a call from the accounting department and was told that I had an outstanding balance for the new one and it had to be paid for it to be delivered as scheduled and I didn't even know it was scheduled to be delivered! I went to the store to pay for the difference and was told it would be delivered on a certain day and they couldn't even adjust the receipt to remove the original one and show my warranty would apply to the new one since this had to be dealt with in the office. At least at this point the re-stocking fee was removed! Of course I had to follow-up with the office to get the warranty information updated. The new one showed up damaged and the worst part is that the delivery person told me that the prior one would have fit better than this one! I then called the store and they said a new one would be shipped and I would get on Tuesday of the following week. I got a call on Sunday that it would be delivered on Monday! After waiting in hold for a long time I finally got someone to call back to confirm it would be changed to Tuesday. Sat home all day on Tuesday and it finally showed up in the evening and it was dented again! To end all this I agreed to accept it for a discount and I was told it would be at least 10% if it wasn't noticeable an significantly more if it was. Well of course it is noticeable and at this point it has been weeks and I still haven't received ANY discount and haven't heard from anyone and still haven't even received a copy of my new receipt showing the model I the correct warranty info so that I can submit for my rebate which I am eligible for! The level of customer service that I am still dealing with is unacceptable especially since I thought that purchasing from a small family owned business would be the exact opposite compared to the big box stores. Be cautious that every issue that arises is your responsibility to deal with even when you didn't cause any of the issues! read more

I ordered a refrigerator and clearly prefaced to the sales rep that I needed delivery on Sat and not a day later. I was purchasing according to a strict timeline. I received a call the next day from the warehouse informing me that my order will be delayed until Tuesday. Apparently the sales rep did not know to check the warehouse volume. Terrible customer service...we have purchased 7 kitchen packages from Gerhard's in the last 3 years for our properties...my own personal refrigerator has been broken for over 3 weeks now without any help from this awful company...when I get someone on the phone they tell me someone will be out which is a lie...supposedly a part was ordered over a week ago and still NOTHING...I call and ask to speak with managers and I get the same response from every store that they are with customers and will call me back which has not happened once. Give them a zero on customer service. If you want to buy appliances from them, hope that there aren't any issues as they WILL leave you out in the cold. They don't return calls. That do not do what they say. Even a regional sales manager won't return calls. I used to like them a lot, but customer service has totally disappeared. I have had bad experiences with Gerhard's in the past and would not ever use them again, but recently contacted a place called "Fast Appliance Repair"and set up an appointment. This is Gerhard's doing business under another name and again, terrible experience. After giving the customer service agent the model and serial number of my range and telling her exactly what was wrong, when the technician showed up he had none of the parts with him. When I inquired why we had bothered with this visit he answered, "I don't know." So . . . I took off from work for someone to come over and tell me my range was broken after I called about a broken range. A subsequent call to customer service was equally unsatisfactory. read more

Our refrigerator, only 6 years old, died. The repairman said it would cost more to repair than replace. Decided to try Gerhards in Ardmore as it is close by. Had very specific size requirements to fit into the kitchen. We ordered it and it was delivered in two days. It did not have all the features of the stainless one from the sales floor. My husband stopped by the store to inquire, but the salesman was not there. Told the person there the problem and said he'd tell the salesman. Returned to the store to find out the other items were ordered and shipped to us. Very pleased with a pretty painless transaction. read more

We've bought several appliances for rental properties from them, and the experience has been great. Unlike a bad experience with Hope Depot where they sent out an appliance without the kit needed to install it, Gerhard's makes sure you have what you need, and takes care of the installation without drama. Their pricing is competitive, their sales people are friendly, attentive and competent. I'm a happy customer and will continue to use them for appliances for my own house and for rentals! read more

This is a very nice looking store... very high end appliances, knowledgeable sales people, willing to negotiate (it pays to bring your smart phone and show Internet prices), so the buying process went very smoothly and we were pleased. What Gerhards needs work on is their CUSTOMER SERVICE! I won't get into details because at this point it does not matter and I'm not going to say the customer is ALWAYS right but I think a store of this caliber should at least listen to the customer's complaint and try to work out what went wrong. We had a dispute over the delivery date - the items arrived earlier than expected and we were not ready. The first time I phoned in I was told "Don't yell at me - I didn't do anything wrong" by the guy who answered the phone. Then I was sent into voicemail. NO one got back to me. The next day I called again and was again sent into voicemail. Again, no one got back to me. So that afternoon I went in and the attitude was that they had no fault and it must be my error. There was not even one offer to look into the matter, sorry for your inconvenience... etc. It was simply that I must have made a mistake. I think this is what bugs me the most - the automatic assumption that the error was on my part and no one would even bother to call me back to figure out what may have gone wrong resulting in me having to go in person. Had they been a bit more understanding and just worked with me in a professional way rather than getting defensive from the get-go I would have been more satisfied with the whole experience since this was an expensive purchase for us. Now all I am left with is a huge appliance we don't need for a month in an awkward place and a bad taste in my mouth. I hate to write negative reviews - but AVOID this place. I walked in on a Saturday ready to buy appliances for an entire kitchen remodel. The place was empty and with the exception of one person, everyone was standing around. ZERO sense of urgency. I actually felt as though we were bothering them! The individual we spoke to was very nice but new and needed help. We walked around looked at appliances and asked questions, most of which she needed to find an answer ( that's cool..). One obviously experienced man in the store who could have helped her simply didn't care. He spent more time on the phone talking about his kid's softball game and was quite annoyed at being asked to help. His attitude was crap we left frustrated and aggravated. We asked for ricing and were promised a followup by email which never happened. Lousy sales traing and custiomer service. I went elsewhere and spent $42,000 on my applinaces. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We ordered a dishwasher which was delivered almost 10 hours late. When they were installing it, they kept saying they would not be able to fit it in the space. Instead of providing good customer service and making alternate suggestions, the installers put it in crooked. We asked for directions for the first run and they tried to show us and the dishwasher wouldn't start. They told us to flip the breaker and that it would work, but they left before we could do so. The dishwasher never started. This was a Friday, so on Monday we went to the store to discuss the issue with the manager. He told us that he would "see what he could do". By the following Friday, we still had not heard from him. On Monday, we called the store and the told us they were "waiting on the manufacturer" to be able to remove it. So we were supposed to keep a non-functional product until he said the manufacturer called the store back or something?? The issue went on much longer, but essentially we decided to get another model and have it installed with another company. We should have read the reviews before going to this awful company!! read more

Careful when you buy something here. I replaced an expensive fridge with the same fridge, but new model, and after putting it in the installers told me it didn't fit and I would need to get someone out to fix the problem. After 2-3 months, tons of calls, numerous broken appointments, etc etc it was finally taken care of, but apparently now I owe $200 more. After I refused and tried to talk to the person I bought from I got a letter from a collection agency. No number of calls by my wife and I have gotten this taken care of.. Last call by me was 3 weeks ago and the salesman told me he would "look into this" and get back to me. Guess what, I haven't heard back. read more

We bought a washer, dryer, and microwave from here. The salespeople are nice and helpful. However, when the W/D was delivered, the team did not wait to make sure the unit was properly installed and left. The unit gave an error message. I called the store and instead of having the team return (they had left only a few minutes ago), I had to schedule a service appointment. Then a few weeks later the unit gave another error message. Another service appointment. Then the same error message. Another service appointment. At one point I asked the service department if they could just replace the unit as it was clearly defective. The manufacturer was blamed and we were told that was not possible because they would have to "eat the cost." The repair man guaranteed us this error message would not happen again. Well today we got the same error message. Will have to make another service appointment tomorrow. They department is closed today. Every time this happens we have to wring out soapy wet clothes and take it to the laundromat. When we bought the microwave, it was not delivered on the day we agreed. The sales department was apologetic and someone was going to deliver it personally which was nice. I had a very narrow window of time to accept the delivery. Once again it was late and had to be left at the back door. When it was installed they sent an incorrect part and it had to be returned. They did send a carpenter to make a custom piece for the microwave, but I had to pay him too. Also I had to call them because they did not reimburse us for the incorrect part at first. It is my fault I gave this company the benefit of the doubt too many times. There have been too many mistakes with no attempts to remedy them. Extremely unhappy. Will not return. read more

Dont use this place. The appliances were fine.. prices are competitive, but the individuals that delivered the products damaged the fridge and hid the damage from us! They also destroyed the threshold to my kitchen. Its a shame, they are local and I like to support that. But never again. No deal is worth the headaches that they have caused. The worst customer service experience I have received. Got a washer and dryer from here, dryer was on backorder(which they didn't decide to tell me until they delivered the washer). Waited a week later for the dryer to be delivered and took off a day of work. I was told it will be delivered from 2pm-6pm. By 6:30 I decided to call their automated message system which by the way is useless. Their automated machine hung up on me SIX times after going through the prompts. It literally took me over 45 mins to actually get a person on the phone who told me the drivers were an hour out still and that I can have it delivered on Monday. When I asked to have an early slot Monday and explained how frustrated I was for Wasted a day waiting around for the delivery she told me an early slot could not be guaranteed. Should have gone to Best Buy. I will never ever ever shop here again!!! read more
