I took my Audi here for the first time a few months back to get my clutch replaced. Extreme quote differences compared to the dealership and another competitor. The price to get my clutch replaced at the dealership got me my clutch and front brakes replaced at German Car Specialists. Everyone I dealt with was pleasant... over the phone and in person... even the driver for the courtesy ride to work! I hate going to these places but will take my car here again...hopefully not anytime soon! read more

Just because I don't have the time and money to sue him otherwise I will take him go to the curter. Recently I had fix my Mercedes which them ( it's my first time and last time), he told me totally different story and price when I pick up the car, he changed me about $500 more than he quote me by the phone. And the price of the parts he charged much more then the dealer's price, he use the rebuild parts as new parts, do you Google homework first never trust German car specialist and Tony, they will screw you up. read more

Basically at their core these people are swindlers! They will ask you to "pre aprove" a certain number of hours, then do next to nothing, after which they will call you back to "pre approve" some more hours, and yet "that might not be enough." My car needed the most basics of distributor wiring, and after spending $1000, they had nothing to show for. I mean NO WORK was done, and my car was in the same condition I took it in. They called me to say they would now have to go into yet another "phasing"... I finally pushed out my car from their garage in disgust. The next shop did it in 2 hours, and said it was supposed to be "basic mechanics 101"!! Do yourself a favor and find someone you can trust! These people are "specialist" robbers! read more

Do NOT take your MINI Cooper here. I should have just stopped when the tech called me to have more time authorized to check out my MINI stating "We don't know what is wrong - we have never seen stuff like this before". I ended up having to take my car back to Northwest MINI because the "diagnosis" I was finally given was for a part that had already been replaced earlier this year, and was still under warranty at NW MINI. After NW MINI inspected my car, and after I had to pay $525 to German Car "Specialists" for NOTHING, it was discovered that they not only misdiagnosed the issue, but also didn't know about a separate KNOWN issue that was still covered under the manufacturer's warranty. How is it possible that an Auto Specialist doesn't know about common issues with a car, and how is it possible that the "$30,000 testing machine" that the owner bragged to me about over the phone didn't pick up the same fault warning that NW MINI's did? read more

I brought my MB to this shop for oil change, the owner of the shop told me my car's timing chain needs replacement (it's under 100k miles), I asked how he can, he told me by listening to the engine sound!!! I never returned to this shop and my car is doing fine. read more

I would never go back to this place, they were rude, couldn't remember what car was mine and we had to go over the explanation of the car with every car, and what the previous quote had been. my bill was at least 30% more than what we had talked about and I was not notified before the work began to say weather I wanted to proceed with the more expensive work. To top it off the car was not ready when promised. If you have a Mercedes go to Mercedes garage in Bellevue!! read more

Great people, very friendly but I had a horrible experience. I left my Audi at 8AM and when I called to see how it was coming at 3PM, they said they hadn't had a chance to look at it and would need it over night. I was not able to leave it, so had their shuttle come pick me up. When I arrived at the dealer at 4PM, they said they had started working on it...so I had to wait. They had a hard time diagnosing my problem (AC not blowing cold), but ordered a $300 part and installed it. At 6:45 I was able to leave their shop after paying a total of $600. The AC was no different than when I brought it in. Just blew air, nothing cold. They said when I left that I likely needed a compressor and that they would call with an estimate. They never called. I have since come to realize that only the dealer has the full diagnostic code manual and these smaller shops pretty much have to guess at complex problems. I would have preferred they did not guess but just told me they could not figure it out. I am now out $600 and have to go to the Audi dealer for a fix. Very unhappy. read more

I'm the new owner of a 2007 BMW 335i... bought it over at BMW of Bellevue. The prior owner took very good care of it, and I plan to do the same. So when 3 days after I bought the car one of the tail lights went out, who was my first call? BMW of Bellevue, of course. They happily made me an appointment, quoting me $125 (to start...) to replace the bulb. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! So over the weekend before my Monday morning appointment my brilliant wife suggested I call "that German car place on Factoria". BRILLIANT INDEED!!! I called at 7:35am on Monday morning, and was told to come right on over. Dan Kauffman, the Service Advisor, happily changed the bulb - no appointment necessary. It took him all of about 10 minutes (though he apologized for the wait), and then he wished me a fine day! When I offered to at least pay for the bulb, he said, and I quote, "Nope - no charge. Just come back for your next oil change." And he said it with a smile (though admittedly he was smiling the entire time; that must just be how he is...) And, yes, he even showed me how to do it myself should I ever need to. Now THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Dan - you just earned German Car Specialists a customer. read more

Go several things done on my BMW 330i here. They did a good job, and saved me a few bucks in the process. I have been taking my car to get serviced at a competitor and decided to give these guys a try since it is closer to where I live and prices seemed better. Loved the fact that they invited me to check the situation out myself by putting the car on the rack and hoisting it up so I could see the problem myself. That was cool. I have a 2003 C320 and had oil leaking and took it in a year ago and costed me about 15% less than the dealer. German Car Specialist is one of the few businesses that actually honor their one year warranty service to their customers. They fixed my oil leaking problem again last week without cost to me! Mac at the front desk has excellent customer service! The service was prompt and the complimentary shuttle service is good! They are also cheaper than the dealer and I will recommend them to my friends! Also, they offer 10% discount to Microsoft prime card holders! read more

As a business owner for 21 years, I know what it takes to geep a business going. It boils down to making the clients happy in the end. Tony and his crew there at German Car Specialists have been helping me for more than 10 years with my cars. Their pricing is effective-- not the cheapest in town, nor would you want them to be; you are getting best in class mechanics and the quality of work is excellent. That said, they are typically less than their competitors and do try and save the customer money when and if they can. Tony opened up in the 70's and to still be around is a testament to his customer-oriented/focussed business. I will continue to take my (current) Mercedes to him for service. Also worth mentioning-- I've been in a couple of times for small things like a trunk motor malfunctioning and they have repaired the problem at no charge, unlike most others who would see the easy dollar, not the long-term well-being of the client and relationship. read more

I've been a customer of GCS for about four years and I've had consistenly good experiences there. Staff is knowledgable and friendly, their service is thorough, and they provdie a few "little things" (ride to the bus or office, a clean pleasant place to wait, etc.) I have a nice car and I want to keep it nice but I don't want to fund a dealer's overhead to be able to get the right expertise to take care of my car. Evidently some reviewers here expected or expect some sort of V.I.P. privilege or service over the rest of us. Neither the start nor finish time, or even day, of my service was in any way guaranteed, yet my car was done in a timely manner, I had use of a loaner car, I was given a lift, and all of the service was done with a smile. Like other reviewers, I will say they are not necessarily the cheapest place for your repairs of your BMW, but I will say it's much more cost efficient than the dealership. The WORST independant dealer around. Poor communication from the beginning. Called for service and had to talk to three people before getting someone that could make an appnt. Once appnt was made for next day very early morning the owner actually called and said they would diagnose my issue and call me back. He/They never did. 5hrs later I had to call and was told they were too busy and they would call me back in another few hours. They never did so I had to call back. Than when talking to them they were too busy to discuss and hung up on me. I went down there and they couldn't explain squat as to what the issue was and had no estimate they said they'd call me back again before EOD and of course they did not. They finally called me back the following day only to tell me they weren't sure if they could fix it before the weekend which they are closed. These guys and the owner should really think about how they do business if they want to remain in business. Do not go to these guys. Choose another mechanic if you want honest, prompt and accurate work. read more

I took our Audi 2002 TT into their shop to have the brake lights fixed. I had already checked the fuses and rear bulb so knew it was the brake light switch. Dan/Tony charged me $348 for the work, saying it took 1 hour. I told them this seemed high so I called "The Import Doctors" and "Fat City" and asked what they charged to replace a brake light switch. They each quoted $93.00 with 30 minutes to do the work. I gave Dan this feedback and he said he would adjust the price in their system. After I picked up the car, we found the speedometer and odometer did not work. I brought the car back on a Tuesday morning and it sat for 4 days. I called on Friday and asked what the status was and Tony said they needed to work on it Sat. or Monday. They aren't open on Saturday so he was blowing smoke. I picked up the car Friday eve. and took it to the BMW dealer. They found a nicked wire in the kick panel which Tony's crack crew had removed and replaced when replacing the brake switch. Dan had agreed to fix the speedometer/odometer issue for free. Later Tony backed off of this and did not correct the issue. If you think you are getting a better deal here and better service, be sure to shop around. They really pissed me off. read more
