I was told it would cost $40 just to give me a quote. After the amount of money I've already spent there, that felt unreasonable and disappointing. The guys over there are nice enough, but they have some issues with their scheduling and appointment system that they need to clear up. I made an appointment, but was told when I arrived that they got slammed and couldn't work on it and that I had to come back another day. I had a daytime running headlight go out on my BMW, they wanted $180 to diagnose the issue. That's fine. in the past I had paid $100 for check engine light that would not go away. They could not find the issue, so it was just $100 wasted. This time, they said it was the headlight module and repaired it, for a total of $600. It still wasn't completely fixed, as it wasn't as bright as the other, but it was good enough. Over a few weeks it went out again. I brought it in for warranty work. They repaired it again and proceeded to tell me it was going to go out in a couple months, and that I needed a new headlight assembly. Here's the issue: I wanted the headlight fixed completely, and with an incorrect diagnostic, I'm out $600 and I have to pay an additional God knows how much for a complete new headlight assembly. It was just a waste of money. They are good with the oil changes and easier work, but if it's more specialized, consider other options. read more

The process - loosening the belt, unscrewing 4 bolts on alternator under the engine clearly accessible, removing it, placing a new alternator by original manufacturer bought directly from them, screwing the 4 bolts, tightening the engine belt - 1 hour max, 30 min for an experienced tech. Wants $1,700 with own part when the most expensive part I bought directly from Merc without any repairs, but brand new is $400. Meaning wants $1,300 for half an hour work or $2,600 an hour WITHOUT original part, based on how they act clearly will force a garbage part - RIPOFF! read more

Literally the worst mechanic shop ever. There was a change of ownership, and in between that I discovered that the work I had paid over $2000 for was never actually done (fun). And the new owner Serj would not lift a finger to help me. I took matter to my own hands and took German Hi Tech to small claims court and won, but unsurprisingly they have yet to pay on their verdict. The owner Serj now has a bench warrant for his arrest and soon will have a sheriff posted at their business to collect, if that tells you enough about what type of person is running this business he does not pay his debts. Since Melvin and Serg have taken over the business from Eddie it has been the same excellent service Eddie has given me! A few weeks ago I had a check engine light that kept lighting up. It took three trips to their shop and parts were replaced. It was a little vapor leak that was hard to detect. First he listened to all of my concerns, past history, etc very patiently and then evaluated the car. He also made sure I knew that even though the scanner said my brakes were at 10% in the front and 0% in the back, he manually verified this and found there was actually nothing wrong with the breaks. If I could give this shop zero stars, then I definitely would. If you are a woman looking for a trusted mechanic, DO NOT COME HERE!! I came for an oil change on my diesel car, and the owner would not answer any of my questions about replacing the fluid in my DEF tank. Regardless, I let him perform the oil change on my car. The next morning I double-checked the oil, and found out that I barely had any oil in my car. So I rushed to the mechanic, and asked him for either my money back or for him to perform the oil change again (because I did not trust that he did it right the first time). Then THE OWNER PHYSICALLY & VERBALLY WAS AGGRESSIVE WITH ME AND STARTED THREATENING ME. He started scaring me with his aggression, because I was a women by myself in the shop with him. Overall the owner thought it was acceptable to be aggressive and say threatening things to me. In the end, I was so scared I just asked him to top off my oil and never got my refund or oil change performed. I lost $155 because I was threatened and bullied into leaving as soon as possible (without the proper reimbursement). read more

Just as some of the reviews below, I wish I can give 0 stars, or help in anyway to ask others to avoid this shop. I am a mechanic myself and respectfully assume that other mechanics/shops are willing to value human decency and quality work, rather than exploit helpless civilians who need help with their vehicles for daily use. In this case, German Hi Tech is not a shop that should be glorified in any way. My aunt brought me her car that had just came back from this shop; she was charged $2300+ in order for her A/C to be repaired, and it's not even close to being complete or even functioning. Parts that were listed and charged were well under $800, and the majority of the asking price was all towards their labor. The parts used obviously did not fix the A/C and initial issue, and were just replacements of needed items. I understand needing to replace some parts ALONG the way to the primary issue, but to fix little parts and not complete the actual job is less than professional (and I am a DIY ASE Mechanic). I ask, how can you charge good people $2300, for something you haven't successfully completed? Although I am not done with the job myself, I haven't spent more than $300 on other parts that needed replacements, and I haven't broke a sweat with my amateur tools and such. Bottomline, don't go to this shop. These guys seem to choose subjectively what they will put their actual efforts in (probably in accordance with how much someone's willing to pay, and note, $2300 for a 2007 vehicle repair almost defeats the entire car value already) Let's also add that they charged $3 for tire pressure check. I am leaving three stars because I truly feel bad for the owner and appreciated his effort. I brought my 535 in for basic service which included oil change, cabin filter change as well as spark plugs. When I got the car back the following day, I drove it home and broke down due to the engine misfiring. I bought the car about 2 months ago and I driven it for work to break it in, putting about three thousand plus miles on it with no issues whatsoever. I had driven it as far north as Santa Maria and out east to San Bernardino. I had the vehicle towed home and then brought it to the shop again the following day. Three weeks later, the problem with the engine and spark plug misfiring still wasn't fixed. I felt bad for the owner as I can see he was becoming very frustrated with his inability to repair the vehicle. I finally got the car back and it seemed to be running well in comfort and Echo mode but once in sport mode it began misfiring again. At that point, it did not make sense to bring it back as German high-tech as they could not fix the issue. I decided to take it to the dealer who diagnose the actual problem in one day and had it fixed. I've been driving it ever since in sport mode without any issues. I decided I cannot bring any of my cars back to this location, despite the owners effort. read more

I brought my 2009 VW GTI for the first time a couple months back and their work and service far exceeded my expectations. The work needed to be done on my car wasn't a small job, it was a full engine swap and the team over at German Hi Tech went through extensive research and testing to figure out the root of the issue prior to recommending any pointless fixes. When the issues with the engine were discovered, they recommended the swap, but offered it at a much more reasonable price than the dealer, who wanted to charge me at least $8-10k. Once the car was finished they kept it for testing to ensure I would receive my car in pristine condition. Of course when I picked it up, it drove as it did when I first took it off the lot in 2009. Eddie is amazing. I was looking for a German car specialist in Valencia and this guy is it. Been here a couple of times. This last one was for the Check Engine Light on my GTI. He not only diagnosed the problem on my 7 year old car, but directed me to the dealer since they put out a report some time ago saying they would guarantee the problem up to 120k miles. He could've just charged me for the service ($700) and I wouldn't have been the wiser. I left my last mechanic of 15 years (in Venice) when they demanded I pay for their shoddy accident work to be redone after the insurance company had already paid for it.
