Most relaxed vineyard with the friendliest staff. Their wines are very good. They have their pups there which is always fun to see.

Disappointing to say the least. We are avid wine tasters / drinkers and especially enjoy a good red wine. Before our visit I Googled Temecula wineries known for reds and Gershon Bachus came up. Online it made a point of saying that we needed an appointment because of the size of our party ( 8 ) ~ so we made one as suggested and I rec'd a confirmation back in a timely manner. That was impressive! Here comes the "but" ... The day we went to Gershon we arrived at our confirmed tasting time of 3:30. The property is beautiful. The outside of the building was impressive. We walked into a rather plain and warm (hot) warehouse with cafeteria type tables covered in purple table cloths though ~ one table connected to the next ... in a room that totally missed the target on having the atmosphere for wine tasting fun and ambiance, as far as we were concerned. We've all tasted at low-key wine locations and even at a funky barn or two but the ambiance of those wineries and the service and wine they served was good...so ya go back to them. We entered the warehouse room and stopped ~ hoping that we'd be welcomed. We made eye contact with 2 of the 4 servers and yet no one acknowledged our arrival. They looked away. We stood there trying to make eye contact with at least one of them, hoping someone would say "HI" or "I'll be with you in just a minute" ... but being unsuccessful at that, my husband approached one of the servers at the table where he was pouring, excused himself politely and said that we were here for our 3:30 appointment. The server didn't know what to say so my husband stepped back into our group and waited a bit longer. Finally we made contact with 2 of the other servers and announced that we were "here for our 3:30 appointment". These servers also looked like they had no idea what we were referring to but at least one of them got up from his table where he was pouring and walked over to us. He asked if he could help us. Finally someone was acknowledging that we were standing there!! By now we were frustrated! The "appointment" part also seemed to confuse him a bit but at least he offered to make room at a table for us. We were appreciative. {Apparently the owner rec'd my reservation via email and was the person who responded back to me but she was out of town on this particular day. If this tasting room does indeed serve parties of 8 by appointment only ( FYI ) why were they taken aback when we walked in, and why couldn't they simply acknowledge that we were there?} We sat down with the 20-something year old server, who it turns out, is also the wine maker. He was a very nice young man but another employee and his wife were sitting next to us and rather than giving us his full attention, he continued a dialogue back and forth with the couple. At one point the employee/friend got up, walked over to where the wines were resting and helped himself to another pour. This all seemed like such inappropriate behavior for a winery serving the public. Our server was drinking as he poured ~ which wouldn't have been so bad except that he probably had more than he should've while he was working. He did offer to pour some of his "premier" wines for us because not one of our group cared for the first 6 wines he poured. The wines just aren't the quality of the reds we were looking for. We wasted no time leaving...and very disappointed. Our tips for the owner: spruce up your warehouse, use A/C or big fans ( after all, you're in HOT Temecula!), work on your customer service. read more

If you have recently relocated from the NYC area, you will feel right at home. This winery insists on a "Seated Tasting" with grease pencil grading cards for their wines. Although every nicely labeled bottle is attractive as are the dachsunds and the property, the wines are thin, lacking concentration and complexity. By the time you leave you will remember fondly the street urchins in Manhattan who attempted to fleece you by following the queen. If you like three card monte or are enamored of used car salesman, by all means visit. If you want decent wine at a fair price, go elsewhere. read more

We have visited a lot of wineries in Temecula and this is by far the BEST. The quality of the wines is like no other in the area. They offer a seated tasting which was amazing. Howard was very attentive, knowledgeable and personable. We were allowed to try wines that were not on the regular tasting menu. We were so impressed with the wines we became members and purchased 4 bottles on the spot! The prices are pretty reasonable considering the quality of the wines. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking, with the winery nestled high up on the hills with the most spectacular views. It feels like a small boutique winery and they really pay attention to their guests, which some of the bigger wineries definitely don't offer. We can't wait to go back and bring our friends!!! Although this review is grossly overdue, the message is still as heartfelt and as full of gratitude. First off, congratulations on those of you that are newly engaged. If you are thinking of getting married in wine country, there's only one winery you should even consider: Gershon Bachus Vintners. Enter Ken, Christina and Joey, the super team behind Gershon Bachus Vintners. It's very embarrassing to say that we had the pleasure of getting married there in June 2012 (yeah, that's completely our fault on the severe tardiness of this review). After hitting up all the "popular wineries" in Temecula, we realized what a wedding machine some of those places were, with their overpriced extras and strict time constraints to have multiple weddings in the same day. When I first walked into GBV, Christina greeted me with a warm hug, and my mind was made up right there. This is a trio that does weddings because they want to celebrate your day with you, not gorge you on pricing or overwhelm you with the wedding process. Christina was excellent with correspondence, answering all our insane questions and meeting with us a million times. When we met with them, it felt like meeting with family because that's their approach. Both Christina and Ken were full of ideas and helped us build a fantastic day. Christina was cool under pressure, made adjustments where they needed to be made, and truly made the whole process run smoothly. They are beautiful, laid back people that want the best for your special day. Their caterer is excellent and built a menu for us that blew our guests away. Their wine is fantastic in comparison to neighboring wineries. Joey manned the bar and the guests LOVED him (and not just because of the tasty adult beverages). The location is breathtaking and so private: the backdrop is their Italian style villa that transports you and your guests to another place. We look back at our pictures and wedding video and wonder, what if we wouldn't have gone to that last appointment that day with Ken and Christina? I can say without a doubt, it wouldn't have been such a magical day without their dedication. One of the things I'll never forget was giving Christina a huge and very tearful hug at the end of the night before we left for our wedding night. If you want your day to be perfection and have your guests call your wedding "the best they've ever gone to," you'll save yourself the time and go straight to GBV. My wife Kelly and I just had our wedding at GBV and it was AWESOME. I have lots of things to rave about, but I'll start with a few things that were very important to us that we didn't realize on our first look at this venue. First, getting married here is affordable! We almost didn't come to GBV because we thought it would be out of our price range, but it turned out to be one of the best values in Temecula, especially given all that's included in the package (full-time onsite coordination, lots of decor items, plenty of wine included, option to bring your own beer, etc.). Second, because they only do one wedding per weekend and you work directly with the owner who lives on site, GBV manages to have the feel of an intimate, non-pretentious mom and pop winery while still having all the grandeur you see in the photos. As soon as we stepped on the grounds, we immediately felt the difference in personal character between GBV and every other winery we visited in Temecula. Finally, this was the only place we found in the area where the party could go all the way to 11pm! In addition to all this, the venue itself is absolutely perfect. The ceremony site on the hill (with a new pond that made it even better than when we first booked the venue) has the best view in Temecula. The reception space feels intimate and tight-knit, but is still spacious enough for plenty of dancing. Most importantly to us, the large doors of the reception space open up to the stunning back patio, allowing you to fully take advantage of having your wedding a winery with this kind of view. Being able to hang out so close to the vines and look out over the whole valley during the cocktail hour and at sunset was extremely special. There's plenty of space on the patio to set up lawn games and a photobooth. Finally, shout-out to the caterer. We were told when we booked the place that they have the best food you'll ever taste at a wedding, and they're not kidding. The dual-entree plates they serve (with so many delicious options, it's hard to choose) are awesome portions and have amazing flavor. Most importantly, all of this was possible because the people you get to work with at this venue. The owner (Christina) and coordinator (Kai) were an amazing team who had a great vision for what would work at the venue and were extremely communicative and professional with us during the whole process. Kai, who was our point person for a lot of the day-to-day planning, was on top of every little detail while still being friendly and relaxed. She responded to every text within a couple minutes and went above and beyond to accommodate all our requests and come up with creative solutions to things. Paired with Christina's overall vision and experience, this allowed everything to turn out exactly how we wanted it with surprisingly little stress along the way. Paul, I'm not sure if you are talking about the Gershon Bachus Vintners on De Portola Rd. in Temecula that I'm writing about, because I couldn't disagree with you more on everything you wrote! My daughter got married at this venue in May of this year. We could not have been more satisfied with everything offered. We chose this venue after looking at just about every wedding venue in Murrieta, Temecula, and some venues on the coast in Orange County. First off, there is no dirt road that you speak of. There is a long, paved, road that leads to a Villa sitting a top a hill, surrounded by vineyards. After driving up the paved road, our guests pulled around a large fountain surrounded by gorgeous flowers in full bloom. They were greeted by a valet staff who handled their parking for them. There were roses in full bloom everywhere around the property. Everything about Gershon Bachus was first class. The brides changing room reminded me of a room in a five star hotel. It was decorated beautifully, with a large closet, sofa, chairs, TV, bathroom and a make-up vanity. We were constantly checked on by the staff who offered us anything we needed. The wedding ceremony took place on a beautiful green lawn with a gazebo at the end of a very long, rose petal covered, white runner. The bride comes out of double french doors and down some steps for a very dramatic grand entrance! Afterward, our guests were guided to the back of the private estate where there was a wine bar set up with bartender serving two types of white and two types of red wines made from the grapes at Gershon Bachus! Hors d'oeuvres were being tray passed while music played in the background. The wine was a HUGE hit. Our friends and family are still raving about the Gershon Bachus wine. The staff was very generous with the appetizers and wine. While the sun was setting magnificently, casting shadows over the hills, and the sun's rays where glistening on the vines, our guests mingled with friends and family enjoying a glass of wine, and the continual flow of hors d'oeuvres. It doesn't get any better than this! Yet it did! The Barrel Room for the reception is out of this world!! There is plenty of room for the DJ and the dance floor is the center of the room. The room was breathtaking! With hand painted murals on the walls, the room was filled with the glow of candlelight. They have elegant round tables with floor length table cloths. The tables were set with chargers, china, silver, water goblets, and champagne filled flutes for the toast . The bar tender moved indoors and the wine continued to flow! The food was absolutely amazing! Each guest received two entrees and two sides, along with a salad. The owners of Gershon Bachus bent over backwards to make sure every detail was taken care of. They made sure every guest was happy. They even wore clothing that color coordinated with our daughter's wedding colors. We are still hearing from friends and family who say it was the best wedding they have ever been to. We still hear comments about the fabulous food and wine and about how gracious the owners themselves were. My daughter says her wedding was everything she ever dreamt of and more. I would give Gershon Bachus 10 stars if I could. I highly recommend this venue to anyone wanting a fabulous venue for a great price! read more

When my husband and I stepped out of our car upon reaching Gershon Bachus Vinters, we immediately knew that it was the place for our wedding. This was the ninth place that we looked at and GBV blew every other site out of the water. It had all of the amenities that I was looking for and had the only reception hall that I couldn't find a flaw in. GBV included more things in the price, i.e. chairs, tablecloths, and so on, than any other site and they cost less than anywhere else we looked at by several thousand dollars. Their chef was amazing. My husband stated that he had never eaten a stake as good as the stake the chef made for our wedding. And my husband is from the south; he knows his stake. My mother and I did the majority of the wedding planning. Christina, the owner, did the rest. Christina worked as hard at making my wedding perfect as my mother and I did. My wedding commenced flawlessly; there was not a single issue. Even now, a year after our wedding, people come up to me and tell me how fantastic my wedding was. At least fifty people have told me it was the best wedding they had ever attended. One of my friends who absolutely hates weddings, told me he changed his mind about weddings because of my wedding. GBV was the most amazing place to have a wedding. read more

Really laid back and warm hospitality and the most attractive scenery and view I have ever seen at a winery. Delightful staff and quality service. Definitely coming back. We are part of their wine club and feel they have a fabulous collection of wines and fantastic service. We also rented out their venue for our Daughters wedding October 25, 2014 and all I can say it was the WOW FACTOR!!! Christine, the owner, made our daughters booking process seamless and effortless. Christine, her staff and recommended vendors are fabulous and very detailed oriented. I can guarantee you will be thrilled with this option. What a serene setting for a wedding! The bride makes a beautiful entrance from the bridal suite down the staircase to the awaiting wedding party, like out of a movie. (it made me want to be the bride again!) The views were spectacular from all points around the property and no detail was overlooked. From the cocktail hour patio, overlooking the vineyard, to the reception hall where each door presented a different view of the scenery outside (the sky at sunset out of the east side was incredible!) The hosts were warm and welcoming and the wine was rich (i loved the red), so much so that I couldn't help but have a little too much! (and ask for a few bottles to go!) read more

A gorgeous and more intimate winery than that of the larger more commercial establishments in the city. The staff is fun and friendly. I love the fact that it is dog friendly. I wanted to love this place. Really! I did! The sign at the road has drawn me in more than once, but this was honestly the first time I've had the displeasure of sitting down (yes.. The sit down made me excited!!) to taste. The wine is mediocre at best. I say this as someone who really knows their wine shit... This is no lux winery (as advertised). The service lost it for me first. Our pourer spent more time flirting with the other staff and playing with their hair (yes... Ran his fingers through her hair and served me wine... Ugh!). Management was on staff but ignored us completely.... Wrong crowd to ignore!! We can afford your bottles! It took us 50 minutes to get through a tasting... Which is ok if someone talks to you! In short... If you like mediocre, over priced wine and a show of some poorly dressed server (no class here!) hitting on the other staff, this place is for you. Christina, I've read the multiple emails post wedding between you and the bride and mother of the bride so please don't say I'm a liar. I know they will be disappointed to see your response to my review. I can also have the other 7 bridesmaids attest to how they felt about your character at the wedding, including the bridesmaid you got in a fight with... but I'm sure you don't want those reviews on your yelp page. I recently got married a few years ago and so my reason for my yelp review is to give insight to brides about things that happen behind the scene (what they don't see when they sign the contract for having a wedding at your facility). I hope you can take my review as constructive criticism so that this situation doesn't happen again to future brides/wedding parties and that they have the amazing wedding that you say you want them to have. I was celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday with a group of 8 other lovely ladies (a few were her sorority sisters and a few my close friends) and we were just astonished when we were met at our van by an employee who informed us that this was probably not the "right" type of winery for our party to visit. I was shocked and quite embarassed and just couldn't figure out why they would turn away business. Her excuse was she saw our decorated van (that I spent good money to rent for the day) and thought maybe their winery was too "quiet" for us, but I felt our diverse, happy group just wasn't the "right" type of crowd she wanted in her business. Where to start... My husband and I were married at GBV in June. Our wedding day was perfect. Leading up to the wedding Christina (the owner) was helpful and informative. She was accommodating and reassuring (especially when I was stressed out). Our wedding day was perfect. I stressed about the timing, but Christina was calming and made me feel as though everything would work out. She coordinated and handled everything amazingly. Did I mention our wedding was perfect... We visited Gershon Bachus while looking at wedding venues, and were blown away by their wines and their beautiful setting. The owner took the time to give us a site tour, answered all of our questions and provided overall stellar customer service. While we were there, we talked to another couple who had had their wedding there two years ago and they had nothing but rave reviews. And to be honest, this is the first winery in the Temecula area where the wines were more than drinkable! I highly recommend visiting them for wine tasting, and if you're looking for a wedding venue, look no further. read more

Upon entering the winery, we were greeted with a dog bowl for our puppy, browsed the grounds, and joined the seated wine tasting area. The winery is beautiful, airy, secluded on a hilltop, well decorated, and has so much character. I liked the wines, although I felt some were a little pricey. I was slightly disappointed that they often shut the winery down on summertime Saturdays for weddings and are not open daily - that discouraged me from membership. I had my wedding here this past June. It was amazing. I came for a wine tasting with my family once we chose this venue and the owners were so accomodating. Even when I did my food tasting they changed the location to accomodate the ammount of people I needed to have help me pick my wedding food. I chose almost all of my vendors off of their prefered vendors list and everything came out amazing. The ceremony location is so grand and the reception room is amazing. They have the best wedding food I have ever tasted and their wine is to die for. The owners helped me with every step in my wedding planning and it made everything so much easier on me. This is one of my all time favorite wineries and believe me...I've been to all of them here in the Temecula area! This winery is SO beautiful! The wine is splendid and the service is spectacular! I am looking forward to visiting Gershon Bachus Vintners again soon but especially on April 15th. They are having the Temecula Valley Slow Food team there hosting another one of their fabulous events! I simply can NOT wait!! This time they are having a wine and chocolate pairing. This event sounds SO sexy, how could I miss it? I would love to be able to pull out the perfect bottle of wine and chocolate for one my sexy nights out. Great place. The ceremony location is pretty. The reception room is beautiful, but the owners join the party, drink and appear in lots of pictures. If you have a fun party crowd, you probably wont mind. But if you're wanting something more "family and friends only", expect that the owners will be there. read more

This was the second time..unfortunately.. but decided to honestly check out what we 'felt' on the first experience. But as before the owner openly displayed a luring stare of other women even while his wife was present. It made me feel very uncomforatble. He even spoke what he was feeling and enough to say it was gross and Im not a prud! The pours are very small. Theres something pretentious about the place. This is a premier winery. Many wineries in So Cal AVA are typically mediocre, however this is a place that takes wine seriously. With three 93 point wines, it a good example of hard work and dedication. If you like Cain, Stags Leap or Caymus, you will find a wine in their portfolio that you respect. My friends and I stop by here to check out their wines. I must say they're wines are very good. Rather than a bar experience, this was a sit-down with a host that walk you through each of the wines that they were serving. The experience was very good in the wines were exceptional for Temecula, very comparable to good Napa wines, not exceptional Napa wines. The gentleman who helped us his name was Howard and was very friendly and knowledgeable. There was another gentleman that was doing a tasting who was a younger gentleman that seem to have a little less knowledge than Howard and we overheard this gentleman invite the two ladies in front of him to his house to go swimming. That was weird. There was another gentleman who appeared to be the owner, clearly spent too much time on a tanning bed and rather than being gracious and thanking everyone for stopping by he had a very arrogant persona. Overall we will definitely go back for the wines. read more

My wife and I had our wedding and reception here and the venue was absolutely breathtaking. We had a catholic wedding in their garden and the scenery was perfect. My wife, the priest, and I stood on the gazebo facing the winery in the center of the garden. Easily can fit well over 200 people. It's perfect for pictures especially for a late afternoon wedding in May because the sunset is gorgeous. Very professional owners and staff because they've had many weddings before and know how to make everything run smoothly. Water is available while the guests wait for the ceremony to start. The reception was held in the wine tasting room and it is very spacious with a dance floor in the middle and can hold over 200 people. With the doors open, everyone was able to enjoy that beautiful sunset as the festivities began and wine was served outside on the patio. If you hold a wedding here, you won't regret it one bit. Kenny and Christine are amazing people to work with. Every guest at the wedding couldn't believe how delicious their wine is. The only thing I regret about the venue is that I can't relive the wedding and reception there all over again. read more
