This review is from my husband because I don't like seafood. I did try the shrimp and it was honestly the only shrimp I really liked. That garlic flavor was insanely good. Especially because you can mix it with the rice and gives it even more flavor. There was no line when we got there for lunch during the week. Honestly it was better than we expected it to even be. Easy parking

I love a good shrimp truck and this one did not disappoint! Hands down the spicy pineapple is my favorite, I love anything sour/spicy and this had a hint of sweetness too. My friends loved the hawaiian scampi as well, it had a more buttery flavor so definitely try it out if you're into that! Big flavor from both and their mac salad is great too. It's within a food truck park so lots of other food options/drinks/desserts too!

Some of the best shrimp here! It's conveniently located right next to the airport so we came here for our last meal before leaving. It came out around 10 minutes of waiting. I got their Hawaiian scampi plate and it was soo good!! The shrimp was cooked perfectly and it was so flavorful. Love the mac salad too! Great balance of flavors!

We came here right at opening, and the person at the window was friendly and welcoming. We ordered the pineapple shrimp plate, and it was ready in about 10 minutes, just as mentioned. The food was absolutely amazing. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the pineapple sauce had a great balance of sweet and spicy flavors. The portion size was generous as well. I personally didn't enjoy the crab slaw as much, but my husband really liked it. Overall, we'd definitely recommend this place.

I wished that I would've tried this place at the beginning of my trip because then I would be stoping by every time I pass through Kahalui. Instead, I decided to try it out on my last day right before going back to the airport. I got the hot and spicy shrimp and it was DANK!! It wasn't spicy at all, but then my spice tolerance is pretty high. Shrimp was packed with flavors. Definitely one of the places that I will return once I'm back in Maui!

10/10 time and time again! Only down side is that they only take cash.... Typically I order the shrimp scampi - this time I opted to ask the cashier what her favorite flavor was and she said it was the pineapple, flavored shrimp. Man oh man! It did not disappoint and it's definitely my new favorite.

Bomb Bomb Bomb! Loved the buttery garlic shrimp plate and mac salad was amazing too! So good we hit this truck 3x in 5 days. We will definitely be back.

Love this food truck by the airport! They specialize in shrimp plates. We got the spicy pineapple and it was so good! I like a little extra a hit so they were able to make it extra spicy. Just a heads up the tails and skin are on. If u like no skin you'll have to peel but it's edible. Seating area is nice outside under a tent with shared seating for other food trucks. They also only do cash or venmo.

A great meal to start a trip to Maui with as it's really close to the airport. The shrimp had a delicious sweetness to it from the pineapples and the sauce. I wouldn't say it was spicy, but it had good flavor. It's surrounded by other food trucks so you can try more than one place. We did eat outdoor on some benches and the wind was really picking up at the time. We had to really make sure our plate didn't fly away

Omg YUM. I'm not typically a shrimp fanatic but we got some of the garlic shrimp and it was delicious! A bit pricey but definitely some of the freshest, sweet shrimp we've had with awesome flavors. Unfortunately they were out of the Mac salad by the time we arrived (around noon on a Saturday) but the shrimp was totally fine on its own.

After watching an IG feed of a guy I just adore, it was time to come check out the best shrimp he has ever had. Cash only and wait is a good 15-20 minutes for a dozen #30-35 shrimp that were overcooked and lacking in spiciness with a few pieces of canned pineapple. Yes, there are two big scoops of rice and Mac salad with the fake crab meat in it. Price is okay for what you get and I like the sweetness of the sauce but very little heat. Love the seating which are painted picnic tables under a sturdy cover which helps to protect from the sun. Not sure if come back again. Compared to Oahu shrimp trucks, they are better for me but you always judge for yourself please. Mahalo

My family needed our first meal of the day in Maui after having the longest flight from SFO. Customer service was great, friendly staff. My bf ordered the spicy pineapple and I ordered the combo plate Hawaiian. My goodness the flavor was very rich and buttery with the sausage and garlic and the crab Mac salad. My son never eats shrimp and he loved the Hawaiian flavor. My bf demolished his plate he loved the flavor of the spiciness. The atmosphere was very nice and pretty with all the plants with all the food trucks.

Ask the Community - Geste Shrimp Truck

Is the shrimp cooked with the shell or is it already peeled?

It's with the shell but the shell is split down the middle and very easy to peel!

    Take out orders?

Yes, you can do take out orders. Call ahead and order at (808) 298-7109. Just be careful on the drive home as there is a lot of sauce and the smell might tempt you to eat it before you get to your destination. Enjoy. Aloha.

Are the shrimp plates gluten free?

Yes. Garlic shrimp and butter. No wheat

    Is this walkable from airport?

I'd say no, especially if you have luggage. Grab a Lyft and you'll have time to enjoy your meal,

Does anyone know if they are open? (Sept 2020)

Yes, they’re open. Follow them on Instagram at @gesteshrimptruck for the latest.

Is there a place to sit and eat?

Not really. People bring chairs & towels or sit on the few logs. We ate in the car. Bring wet wipes for your fingers. Yummy but a little messy!

Anyone know if they're open today 11/21?

Aloha! You can always call them and ask Geste (uncle)

For the shrimp plates, am I able to get two different flavors for one order?

Yes just order two plates 🤣🤣🤣

    Are you open today?

We're close for the week. Sorry for the inconvenience

Just stopped by and no one there? Are you closed today?

So sorry. We're closed today because of a family emergency. We'll be open tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience

Hi there! Are you guys open tomorrow on Christmas Day?

Sorry we're closed on Christmas day and new Years day.

    Are you open today?

    Yes. 1100 am

    Will you be open today?

    Yes. 1100

    Are you open today?

    Yes

    Are they open today?

Sorry we're closed due to the rain storm. We will be open tomorrow Thursday at 11am.

Do you come out if it's raining?

Depends if it's raining hard no . Light rain maybe yes

Will you be here today 11/10?

Hi Jan! Try calling them first just to be sure. We planned on stopping by on our way out to the airport and they weren't there. ??. But do call them first. Hope this helps.

Hil will you be out tomorrow 11/7/2017?

    They are here

We've been coming here for years and I've always enjoyed my experiences here, but last night I had a dish that compelled me to write a review. The oxtail soup which is listed as a favorite is a dish I've been eyeing for a while, but it's usually been too warm for me to crave it. But last night was the night. I'm getting over a cold and it's been raining off and on for weeks. The bowl arrived at the table with a plate underneath - smart move because it takes some work to eat oxtail soup. Armed with my fork and spoon, I went at it. The first taste floored me. It was perfectly seasoned and I could taste the fresh ginger, the broth was a beautiful brown color, there was plenty of napa cabbage and it came with a dish of a scoop of glossy steamed rice and steamed carrots, zucchini and broccoli. Our waitress offered to bring over condiments so I went for the soy sauce - sprinkled on the rice and veggies, I noticed that the veggies might have had a little sesame oil flavor on them so that made me happy. A spoonful of rice dunked into the broth with some of the tender fall of the bone oxtail meat, and a little crunch of the napa cabbage and I was in absolute heaven. I tasted my husband's pork adobo and that was equally as delicious as always. But that soup - that's what really did it for me last night and stays with me today. I walked out of Tante's with a swollen and happy belly and a fresh, tiny piece of ginger stuck between my teeth...a treat for later.

They've been part of the island's food scene for over 12 years now, and I still remember their off-the-beaten-path spot on Hobron Avenue in Kahului. You would have never guessed there was delicious food being served up there, but those who knew, knew. These days, you can find them in Kahului parked at Da Tambayan Corner on Lono Avenue, or sometimes popping up out at Ho'okipa. Now, full disclosure -- I don't eat raw fish, so I can't personally vouch for their poke bowls, but that's what they're known for and I've had a number of friends and family enjoy it. What I can vouch for, though, is their fried poke -- perfectly seasoned ahi cubes, floured and fried, served over rice and lettuce, and drizzled with a creamy mayo aioli. Get it hurricane style for extra sauce and furikake seasoning -- it's delicious and gives it an extra boost as once in a while it's on the drier side. Another favorite is the poke bake, which is just as satisfying and generously portioned. Started getting this recently and it hits the spot. Highly recommend either dish, especially if you're like me and prefer your fish cooked. And whatever you do, don't skip the furikake fries -- curly fries topped with aioli and furikake. SO good. Beyond the great food, my team has worked with Like Poke for company events, and they're always a hit. Friendly service and consistent quality eats that keep people coming back -- they're a favorite among locals for a reason.

Food: We ordered the honey walnut shrimp, miso butterfish, garlic furikake fries, hamachi sashimi, garlic noodles, and crispy chicken. My favorite was the hamachi sashimi. What I enjoyed about this dish was the diced maui onion that offset the citrus from the ponzu. The flavors are light, and refreshing. The most disappointing was the crispy chicken. I thought it was too salty, but that's my preference and salt tolerance. The miso butterfish was also a great dish. The fish was buttery and flavored well. Not too saucy but the perfect amount of sauce. Service: Service is friendly, like most of the restaurants on Maui. The food was served in a timely manner. The ambiance is casual and felt like a bar restaurant. Overall, I'm not sure if I would return. After ordering 6-7 dishes, I wanted to be blown away by at least 4-5 of them, but that wasn't the case. I tried teh Kau Kau Tin with pork belly and garlic noodles, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and a small mac salad. Generally, the Kau Kau Tin and the mac salad were utterly bland. The mac salad tasted of nothing. The garlic noodles in the Kau Kau tin also lacked flavor. The garlic noodle had the slightest of garlic taste. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and was the best part of the Kau Kau tin and I made sure to make each every piece of that. The Spicy Chicken sandwich was the most disappointing item I tried. The chicken patty was just a VERY FATTY piece of fried chicken. It was terrible. The texture shock alone from biting through crispy crust to gelatinous fat was shocking. But then, the chicken was not seasoned. It was a textural monstrosity that had no flavor. All in all, I'm glad I tried it. I will definitely try it again when back on the island in hopes that this was just a bad day.
