I'm a full-fledged carnivore. I tried being vegan once and couldn't make it 48 hours, so when I say I love steak, I mean it. And we've been to quite a few steakhouses. It's rare to find a food truck that can cook a good steak, let alone a restaurant, but 'Ono Teppanyaki & Seafood is my favorite for steak, hands down. I get the New York strip, with all veggies and no rice. It comes with sauces too, and because of them I now love eating my steak with hot mustard and shoyu. The steak comes out with a beautiful crust, cooked just right, and the grilled veggies are the perfect side. For the price, it is absolutely worth it. One heads-up so you find the right spot: this is the food truck lot across from the Costco gas station, not the one at the Courtyard Marriott. Make the trip. The food took a while (about 10-15 minutes), but it was totally worth the wait. Everything was super tender and tasted really fresh. The ahi had a nice kick -- a bit spicy but in a good way. Ordering was easy, and they called my name loud and clear when it was ready. It was a nice touch that they ask if you want chopsticks or a fork. I had such a great experience that I came back in the evening and ordered a ribeye, and man, was that the best ribeye I've had in a while - the meat was super tender and filled with flavor. Our first food stop after arriving in Maui had to be a food truck. Watching many YouTube videos convinced us this was a must do, and there was a great park by Costco. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I counted 10 food trucks surrounding a common seating area of blue picnic tables, there are even more food trucks close by.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I randomly picked Ono Teppanyaki. It looked fine and I could see they accept credit cards, not all places do. My choice was their NY Steak and it was cooked to perfection. It sat on some shredded cabbage and the container included a zucchini and onion mix and a scoop of white rice. We had such a nice conversation with the people working there, and they gave us great advice on things to do and enjoy. Order over the phone was quick and easy the lady who picked up the phone was very friendly I even had to call back and add on and she made sure to let the cook know so I didn't have to wait too long for it. Saw Ono Teppanyaki on Bill and Lisa channel on YouTube. Decided to give it a try. $40 for ribeye steak and lobster was reasonable. Steak was cooked well (asked for med rare). Lobster was a bit overcooked and dry. Problem was the steak and lobster were too salty. And I like food salty but this was a bit much. We got the Blackened Ahi plate with an add on of 2 shrimp skewers and the scallops plate with another shrimp skewer. It was so salty.... I hate writing low reviews, but honestly, the fish had way too much salt. I already asked for it to be made less salty, but I almost feel like they made it more salty? After a long journey on the road to Hana we desperately needed to eat and stumbled upon one of the infamous food truck stops. I ordered from here because their menu looked more appealing for my taste buds. I ordered the lobster & shrimp plate $24, which came with steamed white rice & grilled veggies. I added on scallops (I think for an extra $14) and they were a nice size. The only thing is one of my scallops wasn't cooked through. I couldn't eat that one. But overall the flavors were on point. This little food truck serves amazing tepenyaki! We ordered the ribeye and added a lobster tail as well as the jumbo shrimp platter. The food was really good and the meat was cooked a perfect medium rare. Additionally, all the vegetables were crisp off the grill. The service was really good too. Outside, a a decoration, they have a basket of fruit. The owner told us to try the oddly shaped lime called a Kefir lime. It tastes like a sprite. I can't seem to find it anywhere else in Hawaii.
