How sad! I've been debating on whether to come to this place for a very long time. I live in the neighborhood. I was out to dinner with my daughter and I said hey, let's get a drink here so we can see how it is. my neighbors who live behind me work here as bartenders. We walked in and had a seat at the bar where there was a bunch of dishes or glasses and I had to go to the bathroom so my daughter sat there first no one came up to us and said someone sitting there or can I get you a drink and lead you to another place to sit so I came out and she went to the bathroom and as I was sitting there, the bartender, let me know that the drink in front of me was for someone else and I had their seats and was very rude. Didn't ask me if I wanted to drink didnt lead me to a different area so we left. whoever the bartender was female not very nice. Rude should be gracious to everyone and if someone's coming in new, guide them to a different seat, so happy birthday to me. Convince me why i should try again. read more

The owner will ban you for using your freedom of speech in a 3 star review on Google reviews. Even if its fair and honest and you address questions asked by others. Most the hens that bartend are gossipers. They have attitude so does the most recent male bartender. The complain about tipping in front of customers sitting at the bar. They can be rude also. They fire the best staff with the exception of Kelly (& Kim) who works days. She's awesome. How she survives here is a mystery to me. The food was pretty good as was well drinks and food specials but it was declining in my opinion. I think I should sue them for freedom of speech. The owner has removed my Google review! The Getaway has a fun atmosphere. Behind the bar Kelly always has a smile and remembers you even if you are not a regular. I've never had a bad meal at the Getaway and it's a guarantee if Joe is in the kitchen. read more

We are always looking for local places when out and about. We were up in Lynnwood/Mountlake Terrace and decided to try the Getaway as their daily special on Facebook French Dip looked good. The out side is a simple one story. Don't let the security Bars on the window put you off. This, if I remember Mountlake Terrace is the old school area of town. I'm not sure but could have once been a 7/11 or neighborhood grocer. Once inside you will be taken about aback by the inviting decor, ample seating and extra cleanliness. We, our party of 4 gals all ordered a beer and the French Dip special. The bread was fresh, the beef flavorful. The special also had cheese and the beef and bacon were a generous portion. The real gem of the Getaway was our server Jen! Jen was attentive, polite, and a great people person! Although we do not live to close we all have vowed to be back soon!! read more

If you live nearby this is one of your go to places for a little bit of food, a lot of beer and some good ol' fashioned fun and good times; bring a friend. I counted 15 TVs, if your game is on they probably have it. Two pool tables, three booths and four big high tops. Plus the couch parlor. Been following the getaway on facebook for a few years . Always impressed by their specials! Was in the area Saturday so me , my mom, aunt and daughter came in. A million times yes. This is one of my favorite spots for Friday night happy hour. The clientele is a mixed bag, and everyone is mellow & friendly. The staff is super nice, the bartenders mix a mean drink & check on you frequently. The food is awesome bar food, fried and not too salty. The fish & chips are 100% on point, the fried mushrooms & jalapeño poppers are verrrrrrry tasty. Parking is plentiful if you go out back, and it's pretty safe. I have come here three or four times in the eight years I've lived in Mountlake Terrace. They serve good basic pub fair and offer specials two nights a week Tacos two for a buck on Thursday and Steak dinner special on Tuesday. Good selection of beers and spirits to quench your thirst. There are pool tables and darts for entertainment as well as some video games. A few televisions are scattered about for watching sports programming. Overall a good neighborhood bar. The bar area would draw more interest if they replaced the pull tab tanks with flat screens for viewing sports. read more

Great neighborhood bar. You could say it is a dive bar, but it is the cleanest dive bar I've ever been to. I would just say that it's relaxed. Patrons are relaxed, respectful regulars. It's the kind of place you could go to every night. Half the pulls are American Pilsner, which is perfect. Karaoke is amazing. Haven't tried the food yet, but I will soon. I actually like coming here. Let there be no mistake, this is a dive bar. And it's not one of those dive bars that is cute and hip. This is where old drinkers come to die. But that is still great, as I have never met anybody who was rude or mean. All the people there are usually in a very happy drunk mood, and for the most part the bartenders are very very nice. Great burgers to boot, and one of the only places I know of in the north end that shows whatever the game you want to see and they DON'T have music playing over it. The atmosphere was fun, and all the patrons as well as staff were very friendly and fun-loving. This was our second stop after our wedding ceremony, and it was karaoke night. There's something really appealing to me about a community dive bar. And I say "dive" with a very fond feeling in my heart. Forget those hipster bars. These guys have consistently good food and service (watch yourself on game nights though. There's a wait but it's worth it.) Yes, it's bar food but it's GOOD bar food. No overly greasy fries or sloppy burgers here. Just fresh, good food every time. Kelly is amazing and always remembers my drink when I come in. I like the getaway it's simple but holds a good number of people there. The food is standard pub grub not the best I have ever had but not the worst. They have the game on Sundays for the Hawks, Cougs and the Dawgs. Karaoke on Saturdays. Decent prices on brews, beverages and shots. Smokers out back and long tables and booths. The Getaway is your typical neighborhood dive bar that happens to have pretty decent food. You have your typical setup of pool tables, darts, and Golden Tee. Tons of pull tabs too if that's your jam. Normal beer selection with a couple rotating taps of NW brew, and drinks are neighborhood/dive bar cheap too, so you cant go wrong there. Food selection is typical bar fare, but is quite good to be honest, their cook(s) does an excellent job. They also have a lot of TV's of varying sizes around the place and are always showing the big sports games. If they dont have what you want already on, they'll throw it on the nearest screen to your seat. Overall, a nice neighborhood divey bar that's an awesome spot for a drink after a long day or for the next big game. read more
