Good place overall. The staff were friendly, not in an always-grinning way, but more in a next door neighbor kind of way, if that makes sense. The bathrooms were fine, and the showers included in the price. Having paper towels in there is helpful, and the dish washing sink is better than many. Nothing fancy, but it has hot water, a counter and roof. No issues with late check-in, and the tent sites seem pretty well shaded. Also, the tent pads were good, plenty large enough and made of sand. Some of the sites seemed a little close, but they tried to keep a little vegetation between them. read more

My hubby and I wanted to do a shakedown with our camper as we have many trips on the calendar scheduled for this season not to mention just get away for a few days. We've been to a number of KOA's and Yogi's over the years, so in 2020, I joined the KOA rewards as we will be hitting the road here in the next few years to enjoy our retirement. At the moment, we mostly camp in state parks, so we really don't need a whole lot. I took a chance and booked a premium patio site because the forecast was calling for rain and I didn't want to have to dry my stuff out as we live in a condo and keep our camper at an indoor storage facility. We were really excited to try this concept out since we were thinking if we met up with friends it would be neat to have seating and so forth. We were showed to our site by an employee as we couldn't park our camper at the entrance as there was a camper already checking in. We were told to park our camper and then when we were done, to check in at the store. So this patio site we are shown to which has been described as a table, chairs and a glider had three chairs on it only. No glider, no table. These sites come with a premium price which is a bit more than just a normal site. We definitely expected a table, which I was told would be provided on Saturday. The site next to us was never occupied and had a table and glider....we would have been so happy for the table at our site, but we didn't want to move furniture. So the night was fairly nice on Friday even though overcast....we ate in our trailer which was not the plan at all and not we signed up for. Even if this is a shakedown camp, we haven't really been able to enjoy the outdoors the whole winter! We did take our Solo Stove out and burn some wood after dinner along with make some S'mores. At least we had the chairs to sit in. I used the restroom twice there as we do have a camper with a bathroom. It was clean, however there was no soap in the compartment I was in. When I walked up there before leaving the campground, the compartment I went in that time had soap, but nothing to dry your hands. The staff was nice, but I didn't get the feeling that they thought that when you pay for the extras that there should be an expectation of it, especially when I brought up no table at check in, because I definitely mentioned that I had paid for the more expensive site. What I was told is they were extremely busy and while I do I understand busy because I work too, I have everything ready to go when it needs to be, especially if there are some elements that should be taken care of. I think there really should have been a priority on sites that were going to be used that weekend, especially when the one next to us was empty the whole time we were there and had a table which is really what we wanted.....we didn't care what kind, we just wanted to dine outside. Sites I feel are a bit tight, but I can't lie, I'm spoiled by the state parks. Lot of bang for your buck and the PA ones have amenities more so than where we come from in Maryland, to include ones with full hookups. There are a few farms close by which was nice and allowed us to get some fresh eggs to take home with us....very happy about that! There is also a winery that we have been to and that would be a nice outing if you are nearby. WiFi was amazing! We were able to stream a movie during a rainstorm Saturday evening. This was a plus. Our T-Mobile was not as strong to use our phone data. I really DO like supporting small family business and while this KOA is a franchise, they are also a family working a business. With that said though, when we pay for something, there is an expectation of getting it, especially when there is an additional cost. These are being billed on KOA's site as premium (and they are!), so for the money both of us felt rather slighted. A table at a commercial or state park site is a no brainer....we've had one at every park we have been to. I could have just booked a regular site and saved a bit of cash. We won't rule this one out again in the future, but for now the rest of our trips are mapped out. Maybe we will try again. read more

It's a nice campground environment and location but staff is not friendly. When we checked in we felt like we were in the way. Did not feel invited or welcomed. No smiles and just matter of fact attitude. Went to breakfast in their dining room and bought a big breakfast plate knowing there was plenty of food to share. After we sat down at our table we asked for an extra paper plate and response was, "Did you buy one?" We went back to the window and asked to buy a plate. We received a small 5 inch paper plate for 80 cents. My plastic fork broke and I was scared to ask for another one so we took the rest of our meal to go. Did not receive warm vibes at all and customer service was lacking. read more

We made reservations for two nights for our 34 ft motorhome and 12 foot trailer. When we arrived we were told we would have to detach the trailer and park it on a side road. A) there was no space to do that and b) we were then headed down a narrow dirt road with no way to turn around the rig. Trying to get out of there caused us damage to our motorhome and trailer. They refunded our deposit less $10 transaction fee. Their communication was terrible and service was worse. We do not recommend this business. read more

The sites are a little tight. The water was smelly. Showers had plenty of hot water and were clean though. Claimed to have a heated pool. Wrong! Water was ice cold. The staff claimed the water was 82 deg. but the kids came out of the water shivering as did my wife. They were in denial that the pool heater works. I guess. read more

We had a GREAT time at this KOA! Our reservation was easy and straightforward. Upon arrival, our cabin matched the description and we had 4 parking spaces for the group. The Bunkhouse holds up to 20 in bunk beds with a small common room which had a full sized fridge, TV, and dining table. Everyone was very nice and there were lots of children and pets and although we had a group of all adults, we never felt overrun by kids. The only problem we ran into was the bathrooms were not always clean and one of the stalls in the ladies room was down for about 24 hours. The camp site was clean, firewood could be delivered and the coffee shop/general store had almost everything you could ask for. The Halloween themed activities were a big hit and we ran to Walmart to purchase candy for trick or treaters and decorations. We will definitely visit again! read more

A very family oriented site; they've thought of just about everything from mini golf, life size chess, things to do (scavenger hunt) and of course a pool. We rented a pet friendly cabin which was nice to have. The downside- it's directly opposite the pool with lots of passerby & noise. The lot size is tiny & not much space between cabins like we've had at other KOAs. Totally my fault for booking so late. Next time I'll plan for a more spacious / quiet site. In autumn read more

We've never used a KOA before. After finding this campground while doing research on the Gettysburg area we decided to get a membership and give it a try. I'm so glad we did! Nice clean operation. This was the most beautiful campground and the staff was so incredibly nice. We made a mistake with our reservations and came in a day early on memorial weekend. The campground was full, but they allowed us to stay in their parking lot and made sure we had power and water. The place is clean and adorable. The store had so many cute things in it at such reasonable prices. I can't say enough good things about this place. I wished we lived closer so we could camp there more often. read more

My adult son and daughter and I stayed in a basic cabin for 2 nights over the weekend hoping it would be dark enough in the area to view the Perseid meteor shower (it was) and to check out the local history (incredibly touching and unforgettable). I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this cabin was. It was a log cabin, modern, with electricity, a tv, air conditioning, and an electric heater. We had a small refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave, futon bed, and bunk bed with a full lower bunk. Since we had our own bathroom, I did not need to check out the bathhouse but my son said it was nice. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. The campground itself is pristine and beautiful. I would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend to anyone. read more

We just finished our third visit to this KOA this past weekend and plan to make this our "home base" campground. We've had sites at the full hookup far end of the park and enjoy the shade and slightly larger sites there, which work well for our 31' motor home. The base is all gravel and the sites have been pretty level with fire pits and picnic tables. For Father's Day weekend they had some modified activities (due to covid) which my grandkids enjoyed. The staff has been friendly and helpful. We had booked for ourselves and our daughter's family and had asked for sites near each other and they put us side by side, which was wonderful! We'll definitely return! read more

This is an extremely well run RV park. Reservations were made professionally and helpfully. On check-in we were cheerfully escorted to our site and offered any assistance that might be needed. Staff was diligent and truly understood customer service. Garbage placed in front of our site seemed to magically disappear. My wife went to the office to purchase some firewood and the staff member graciously delivered it to our site, for which we felt a tip was in order. I would have given the park a 5 star rating, but for the fact that the entire park was gravel. Not only the road ways, but the camp sites and walkways as well. Tough on my feet, but even tougher on my dogs feet (although it did help keep the RV clean inside). I should also mention that the dog park was very well maintained and functional. read more

We stayed here at the Battlefield KOA twice now. We really enjoyed the first stay as the site we had roomy and just a tad secluded. My parents stayed here with us and they stayed in one of the cabins that they have. The cabin was nice and home all of the creature comforts including cable tv! The site we stayed at was nice and included water, 30 amp service, cable tv and wifi. The camp ground itself has a lot of fun activities for the family including breakfast on the weekends. The have an in site dump station and a propane refill station. The site we stayed at the second time we stayed wasn't our favorite. It was at the end of the pull through sites and our small trailer (23') and truck barely fit. The spot itself didn't have much room to move around. The staff here are great, really can't say enough about them. Will definitely be back, just choose a better spot! read more

First, let me state we are not giving this 5 stars because it is some sort of 5 star camping resort. We just love camping at this place because it perfectly suits our family, and it is one of two campgrounds we keep returning to. Probably every family that camps out there has one of these, I would think. Maybe you might feel the same, let me explain why it is this one for us and why I would give it 5 stars. It is the whole package in the aggregate, which starts with consistently extremely friendly and helpful staff (shout out to Bryan, you rock!). As another reviewer noted, we love that every site is wooded and has shade. It is true the sites are smallish and can be close, but they make the best of what they have - because of the trees and some rock formations there is some privacy, even if close to another site. Everything is well maintained, and common areas (showers etc.) were all at least reasonably clean any time of day. Because of a youngish son, the fact they have a basketball hoop, a pool, shuffleboard, carpetball, giant chess set, horseshoes, playground and mini golf gives us plenty of fun stuff to do just at the campground (there actually is more than what I just listed). Of course, they have tours stopping by right there to pick up interested sight-seers for Gettysburg. We love the little dog park also, that is very cool! You are also not far from Hershey PA or Frederick MD, or even the Antietam Battlefield and other places to visit if you make this your base. The camp store is not large but stocks enough, and there are some nice items (not cheap as you may expect, but there if you need it!). We also love that they have a pancake breakfast there both Saturday and Sunday, which we like to take advantage of every visit, but additionally they will deliver a dinner to your site. Nothing fancy, like chicken tenders or mozzarella sticks, but when we are getting in on a Friday night it's real nice not to have to worry about making dinner when setting up (can order til 8, I think, on Fridays). In the past, I have had only two issues, and both times staff was all over the issue right away. No campground is perfect, and to me it is more important to know how a place would react to an issue. I appreciate their very high level of customer support. There are not a lot of scheduled activities, but the ones they do have have proven to be fun (two memorable ones for us had been a magic act, and a lady that regales with ghost stories). Highly recommend you visit yourself, especially for the 150th Gettysburg Anniversary activities, make it home base for a few days! read more

This location measures up to the KOA standards in every way. In past years it was a KOA Campground Of The Year. Like most KOAs, they fit in with the local surroundings nicely. At this one, every site is shaded. BUT, the sites are all very small and you can almost reach out and touch your neighbors. They do have a dog park, which I have not seen at any other KOA, as well as plenty of recreational games and activities for the whole family. Conveniently located to Gettysburg National Battlefield and they also arrange bus tours if that's your thing. read more

This KOA is top notch. Wonderful staff that really goes the extra mile. There is someone that escorts you to your site to help park you. He got us parked in record time. He was so friendly and helpful. The sites are wonderfully shaded with lots of trees. The picnic tables and bench swings are composite and much nicer than the standard wood ones at most campgrounds. There was plenty for the kids to do after we got back from all our site seeing. We really loved our stay here. read more

Before I write this review,be advised that I have stayed at KOA campgrounds throughout the country. Most (89%) were were great experiences. The Gettysburg grounds were clean,the facilities need updating. The "deluxe" cabins were nothing more then than the basic cabin with a TV. The water in the cabin smelt like rotten eggs,and irritated our eyes when showering . The sites are very tightly placed together. I would've given this place 3 stars if the staff were friendly. Half of those we encountered were rude. On my way out I politely asked a staff member a question and he walked away from me mid sentence. I asked if he was going to help me, he then snapped at me stating "I'M LISTENING".. I am going back to Gettysburg in the fall and will not even consider this place. Crappy experience. read more

This camp site has a lot to offer! All the necessities are available. Camp kitchen, Coin up laundry, free showers. We really like the stone fire pits. The cabins look adorable! This camp ground really has it together! The weekend proved to be even more worth the visit here. lots to offer including night time civil war ghost stories and all you can eat Pancake breakfast for minimal fee of $3.00. We tent camped and the only thing I don't like is the bluestone gravel, and the dogs didn't want any part of walking on it any longer after 5 days. It was also very difficult to stake in. Price varies according to season and night. But certainly reasonable. We even purchased a KOA membership so we can earn points. We'll be back! read more

I'm hovering between 3 and 4 stars. As far as campgrounds go, pretty clean, and very quiet after dark. Ton of kids, KOAs are of course, designed for family camping. I thought the camp spots were a little snug, but up the road most of the other places are even more tight and have zero in the way of foliage. So this makes it feel a bit more like camping. Not far from town if you want to tour, though pricier than your state parks in the way of camping. We went on sort of a BOGO weekend, and that's about all I want to spend on it. It's nice that KOA has a brand to stick with, so you always know what to expect, but I don't think it's for us. It gets 4 because it's a nice campsite, near the town and battlefield, and it's not really their fault that it wasn't right for us. They didn't do anything wrong. I would still recommend. I was a huge fan of the dog park, though. read more

We normally tent camp and I heard about the cabins available at KOA. We decided to stay in one for a change and in case it was cold (it was mid October). The staff were very friendly and accommodating when I asked to move our cabin to one farther away from the front and up into the woods. The cabins are absolutely adorable, everything is wood and pegs, little porches and swings. Only two of us stayed and we had plenty of room. It was cold at night and thankfully the cabins had heat. Even one night it rained and we sat on the porch a while listening to it enjoying the woods. The bathrooms were nice and clean and I loved that they are individual with the showers. read more

Ok, came in from Minnesota, no ties to, or knowledge of, this campground prior to getting here. I give them 5 stars!!! The campground is beautiful! We have a back site with a small bluff outside our door. Sure, neighbors are close, but it is quiet. Things are very clean.....no, immaculate might be better! The service, oh you betcha! Great service with a smile, even showed us to our site and helped us get backed in! The owner (?) regularly rides past on his cart leading people in or providing other services and smiles and waves every time he passes! If you are coming to the Gettysburg area and plan to camp, let me recommend this KOA campground!!! read more

Overall a standard KOA w some things done well, w a couple small problems. Clean and unique sites that are formed w rock formations. Lots of shade. Crushed rock everywhere, so no mud. But walking in rock all the time gets old. Also, no big open area for kids to play. Rocks are Hard on our old dogs feet. Pancakes are 3.50$. I am used to them being free at a KOA. Decent store and games. They are all well maintained. 10 min drive to Gettysburg. I would recommend it but beware of all the rocks in sites and all the roads. (tent areas are very nice and flat w dirt, gravel surface) One older bathroom and one really nice building w 4 shower/bathroom combinations. Oh, yes...my 1st night I broke a key to my storage and Skip dug one out of his bag of keys and gave it to me. read more

First time camping at this campground. Absolutely loved it ! The sites are nice and wooded with some unique fire pits. The facilities are very nice and the people that work there are great ! When we first arrived we were escorted to our site right away and even was helped backing in our new camper. The campground store was well stocked for things you might have forgotten and there is plenty of activities to do. Lots of activities for the kids and fun for the adults as well. Price wise it is on par ,if not a little cheaper than most campgrounds. Overall I would definitely recommend this campground ! Wish we could have stayed longer. read more

We stayed here for Labor Day weekend. It was awful. Our site had no electric and the maintenance crew said it was our RV. It was the site. It was so hot at night we had to sleep in our car. $300 worth of food went bad. There is a much nicer RV park close by. We will be going there next time we are in the area. read more

We're headed back home to NH today, and we are so sad to be leaving the Gettysburg KOA! This fourth of July week was probably the best camping experience we've ever had. Definitely our best KOA stay! Our family of four, plus our Boston Terrier, stayed in a two room camping cabin. It was great because my husband and I had our own room and space, and our boys (10 and almost 12) had their own too. It was SWELTERING hot this week, but thankfully our cabin had an AC in the back room and ceiling fans in both rooms, which kept us nice and cool. It also had a decent sized mini fridge, which allowed us to eat at the cabin a majority of meals and cut down on food cost. It's an absolutely beautiful location outside of downtown Gettysburg. Our cabin was secluded and situated at the end of a path, so even though we had neighbors, no one was walking by/through our site at all (which can be really frustrating when you're crammed like sardines at other campgrounds). At night we'd sit by our campfire and watch the fireflies. I've never seen so many in my life; The trees around our site looked like they were twinkling with lights every night. I brought our dog for a walk early one morning and even saw a deer in one of the empty camper sites. It couldn't have been more than 20 feet from me, eating from one of the bushes. Just an overall gorgeous and serene place. Our boys also had a fantastic time. There was so much for them to do! They did a magic workshop and saw a magic show, did movie and popcorn nights at the pavilion, listened to Civil War ghost stories, swam, played mini golf/shuffleboard, mined for gems, rode the funky bikes, jumped on the jump pad, played on the playground, played jumbo chess/jenga/connect 4, made some great friends, and the list goes on... Because it is a fairly small and quiet campground, we felt safe letting them walk to and from these activities. It allowed us to give them more independence and trust, which we all enjoyed. We've been at campgrounds where there were adults up partying, being loud/drunk, blasting music into the wee hours of morning. To our relief, this KOA had none of that! It was very family friendly. But above all else, the entire staff was so warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. We were always greeted with a smile and friendliness. This is a perfect example of what a KOA should be!! Our family was very sad to be packing up and leaving today, but I have no doubt that we will be back in the near future. Thank you all for making our week in Gettysburg so wonderful! :) read more

Very organized and clean but a tad pricey than most but you get what you pay fo. Nice sites, with lots of trees. Only complaint is they run gas power washers during the day. I hated the noise and I will not be back because of it. Recommend the use a regular hose, mild detergent and bushes to clean what ever they need . . .the all afternoon noise is terrible. read more

Finally return after a few years (been going to other destinations) and can say this place is definitely worth the trip. Though the "virus" has hampered our "to do" list locally, the folks at the KOA had activities and amenities to let us stay safe and happy here. Gettysburg KOA is located about 10-15 minutes away from Gettysburg attractions. Entry road is very small, upon arrival there was a backup of other rv's and vehicles trying to check in on a Friday afternoon; had to unhook TOAD on roadway as there was not enough room to disconnect inside campground with others arriving to check in. The site were given when we booked was changed to another site upon our arrival. Site 6 was very narrow, but level gravel base. Verizon signal was not good at all at the campground, trees blocked satellite signal, hook ups were all very close. If you have a tall rig stay away from site 6 as the electric running over head was low on this site. Roads in the campground were very narrow. Many of things for kids to do in the park including bounce pillow, large connect four and jenga, and were able to rent pedal cars. read more

Took the hubby on a no kids camping trip for the weekend. The campground was very clean everywhere, clean pool, bathrooms, play area, and the tent sites. A lot of great stuff to keep kids entertained. The tent sites were a little close to one another and the whole campground was quiet by 9:30. The pool was crowded and small. It would have been nice for the pool to have lights and have adult only swim from 9-11 at night. read more

Fantastic campground! Some of the friendliest staff I have ever met at at camping establishment. Kids loved the camping cottage, playground, and daily pancake breakfast. Cabin was modern, clean, and nestled in the woods with some privacy from other campsites. No party crowds here, very peaceful and quiet.
