This was our second trip in about four years and we met up with some family to spend a pair of days doing all the coasters we could handle- In my case, it was all of them. Some of the kids had to work their courage up by doing easier ones first, but by the end of the trip, I think we conquered everything. I personally like the coasters on metal rails better- much easier on the neck and back, while the kids really loved the vintage wooden coasters. Between Candy-Moneum and The Great Bear the winning title for me goes to da Bear. About the hardest part of the park is the signage; you'll follow an arrow, get to an intersection and then have no clue what to do next. To add insult to injury, there's few if any park employees around aside from the ones working concessions or rides. A great bonus to the coasters is the water park inside the Hersheypark complex. Splash zones, and tubes and plenty of sun chairs are available for what could be a full day of fun for the kids. Lines for the more popular attractions are not uncommon but at least there's plenty of water around to cool off in. A food court of sorts is there as well with a decent assortment of decent food. Alcohol can be purchased at some of the trucks or concession trailer outposts throughout the entire park so now we know there is a god. Also included with a park admission, there is a zoo that is worth spending an hour or two. Between the park, the zoo and the water park, you'll probably leave because the kiddos are tired, not because they are bored. If you happen to stay at one of the Hershey owned hotels or lodges, you'll be able to forego the parking fees and take the free shuttle. Also, staying on site gets you into the park an hour early. Great for the coasters that develop longer lines as the days wears on- you can get them in before the other crowds show up. Clean and safe fun is what you're in for so plan a trip for yourself- just do yourself a favor and do a search of all the rides available- if you're not a fan of rollercoasters, there aren't many other non-coaster rides you'd enjoy.

It's also super aesthetic and pretty, and you can tell the team really takes care of the park compared to a lot of other parks in the Northeast. Everything just feels clean and well maintained. If you order tickets online, you will save about $5 per ticket. Just be sure to stop at the Guest Services window to get your wrist band. Lockers are all day and come in 3 sizes. While this might not be the biggest park around it still serves it's purpose for it's community making for an amazing time no matter how old or young you are. Lakemont Park used to have a seemingly random assemblage of portable rides which were still fun to ride. The whole atmosphere was that of a carnival-meets-dive-bar (the good kind of dive bar). But now the rides are no more, the coasters are still standing but not operating, and all that remains basically are batting cages and mini golf. Well as long as we were there, we figured we'd try the batting cages (I hit quite a few of line drives). But in short, there's no there anymore. And it was strange to see the two coasters standing there silent. Leap-the-Dips is the oldest coaster in North America and the only side-friction coaster. It's my second-favorite after Kennywood's Phantoms Revenge and half the fun of riding it was wondering whether this old, over-grown pile of Tinkertoys would collapse as you were riding it. By the way, it is a National Historic Landmark and the operator of Lakemont must keep it standing and in operable condition. But the money's not there. As for the Skyliner it's a fun vintage wooden coaster. It gave you a great view of the adjacent ballpark, and vice versa. The train had an "Altoona Curve" sign on its side, which was plainly visible from the ballpark.

Staff were friendly and willing to answer my questions especially in regards to what my youngest kid couldn't/couldn't do. We came here on a Sunday morning and it was not crowded at all. This place is especially great for kids 11 and under, which was perfect since my kids could really do whatever they wanted since there were no crowds. My kids loved the obstacle course and spent forever on it. It's fenced in, and everything is well protected. It also appears to be very-well maintained. We also did the go-carts, which was perfect for my kids. My daughter sat with my wife as a passenger (she's only charged $3 because she can't drive as opposed to the full fee). These are electric go-carts and don't accelerate much, making it very safe for kids who are learning. My son, who is 48 inches could drive on his own and the reduced speed of typical go-cards made learning perfect for him. We also did quite a few laps in 5 minutes. I do think, however, that if they were 12 or older, it wouldn't have been as much fun since again, it's a bit slow compared to typical go-carts. The arcade was fine. Standard arcade stuff. Prices were on the higher end and there wasn't much diversity (there were way too many claw machines IMO). $10 gets you about 5 games, which again, seems high. We did not eat any of the food since we were there before lunch and the options seemed like low-quality arcade food. We also did not do the virtual reality or laser tag this trip. Located next to Hersheypark, Hershey opened Chocolate World as an alternate visitor center for the public to learn about the manufacturing process as well as purchase chocolate products in the large retail shop. My family and I recently visited Hershey while we were visiting our cousins in Pennsylvania. My wife and I had both separately visited Hershey when we were children, but this was the first visit for our own children. After taking a tour around town with Hershey Trolley Works, we headed inside Chocolate World. We went straight for the Hershey Chocolate Tour, where the line moved very quickly. It's not a real tour of the Hershey Factory, but rather a simulated one that is family-friendly. Similar to an attraction at Disney World, visitors sit in omnimover-style cars that move continuously along a track through the simulated factory journey. Our sons loved seeing the anthropomorphic chocolate characters who teach visitors about the chocolate-making process. Afterwards, we headed to the retail shop area to grab some delicious chocolate treats to take with us on the road. And don't worry... there were plenty of free samples too! For any families looking to visit Hershey, we highly recommend making a delicious stop at Hershey's Chocolate World!

The monorail ride was over a 45 minute wait and that was pretty rough with a toddler. It would be helpful to have signs with estimated wait times for the rides. Soft drinks/water we're also pretty expensive at around $5 a bottle with the vendors inquiring about a tip when you grab the bottle out of the fridge yourself. We would possibly return but we would wait until our child is older.
