Made a same day appointment for my daughters (4 & 9) to get their hair cut. The booking process was very easy and they were able to set them up with two stylist at the same time which was a huge bonus. Emily and Kiko were so friendly and very professional. I explained to them what we needed and they got right to work. I'm happy with how their hair looks and even happier with the overall service. Coming from California I'm used to an $80 kids haircut, so $28 felt like a total steal. I'll say, if you're looking to get a wash and style you likely need to specify that because I don't think that is part of a kids cut service. We'll definitely be back. read more

After having disastrous events at another salon (one of the biggest in Raleigh, 2 separate people, awful service.... ), I was just about ready to shave my head and start over. Luckily I found this place! I booked a consultation, as there wasn't any way I was going to allow someone to ruin my hair anymore. I walked into this cute salon. The girl behind the desk was so friendly and made me feel at ease immediately. I waited for about 2 seconds before Rebecca walked over. She introduced herself and I'm still super skeptical (traumatic hair injury is a real thing). I sat down and said "what would you do?" She explained everything she wanted to do and that was everything I was used to at my other salon in VA Beach. I was slowly getting comfortable with her, which is a great sign. I had told her that I was told at that other salon (yep same one as above) to go back to brown hair. She said "girl, you are a blonde and no one should ever tell you different, nor should they make your hair darker than you want, unless it will make your hair unhealthy and you have been taking care of your hair ". High five for that one. I appreciated how honest she was from the get go. I have found my girl! Rebecca is approaching new BFF status. Everyone knows that when you find your stylist, you stick with them forever. I have seen her 3 times and she has always been so awesome, except for the fact that I don't have the plant next to me anymore, since she switched chairs, but I do have a better view outside. (I gave her hell for this, as it was the only thing I could complain about! She will understand the joke). I highly recommend this place, especially my girl! read more

Definitely wouldn't recommend anyone to go here since the prices are way too high and I asked for Perm hair which they said was 160$ and I said that's cool and they set me up with appointment 3. When I got there, she told me that I had to wait 30 minutes until someone was available and I did in meantime I asked them the price again they said 180$, I said it's okay but it's kinda overpriced 30 minutes later they told me that they are not going do it and then they kicked me out read more

The prices seemed reasonable, however I canceled my appointment due to the lady answering the phone stating that due to "Covid", am I "cool" with not being completely blow dried since they will need to get ready for the next client...( I laughed). Ladies: A. This is an expensive service, and you deserved to be treated like your money is important. B. Don't ever pay that much money, and be told it's complimentary anyhow/??. I have never had a stylist say they are doing me a favor by drying my hair. These pictures/this incident is old now, but a friend of mine had a bad experience here recently and I just noticed my review never went through. I also never heard back from the owner/salon so I thought it would be fitting to leave this here so that it doesn't happen to anyone else... especially for those that plan to get their hair done before a special event or don't have $300 to just throw in the trash. My messages directly to them and the lack of response say more than enough.. even years later.... still nothing LOL. Thank goodness my hair is back to normal but please don't waste your money without doing research. This was the WORST hair coloring/cut experience I've ever had and they made no effort to fix it. I think the owner, Mary, suspected it might not take (this was our 1st time together) so told me to call if the color washed out of the grays. But when I called 17 days post-color, after having the "should I call" debate in my head for a week b/c i'm not one to send things back, I was told by her receptionist that "it's probably just grown out and to make another appointment." I love this place. I've been here for mostly hair cuts. Once for my graduation hair curls and once for hair color. I mostly go to Shea n she's I good. The only reason I gave 4 star is because the website says $39 and up for hair cut. But I've mostly paid $60-65 for hair cuts for pretty simple hair cuts & with tip ends up being $75-80... (doesn't matter if you get wash or not, blow dry or not). read more

I had my first time visit with salon alchemy recently when I was looking for a new place in Raleigh. The visit was extremely short, but everyone was nice. When I left I felt good about my hair, but the more I do it myself the more I realize she thinned my hair out SO MUCH! At the time it seemed like she was getting rid of a lot of dead ends, but I am so upset at how much the ends of my hair are thinned. I was just going in for a trim and am currently trying to let my hair grow out. I'm so upset that it will be even longer until my hair looks healthy, thick, and long again:( The ends of my hair actually look MORE unhealthy and thin than they did when I walked in and I hadn't had a cut in over 6 months. What a treat! Finally able to go into a salon after months of quarantine. Mary and her team did an outstanding job disinfecting and cleaning each and every area of the shop. All requirements for social distancing were met and my expectations were exceeded by the care and concern Mary had for her clients. Upon entering my temperature was taken, my hair was shampooed and cut absolutely flawlessly. The team disinfected the shampoo bowls, all styling products and of course the chairs and shears. She even told me that she wasn't understanding the whole picture; what's not to understand it's a damn bob haircut, you can't mess that up. Then she proceeded to take a razor to my thin hair!!! I've been Mary's client for more than a decade (getting into specific numbers ages us both, so let's leave that out, but it's been a long time), and I would never trust anyone else to touch my hair. We've done every cut, color and style over the year -- brown, blonde, bleach out, bright red, almost black, you name it, waist length up to it's current very short pixie -- and I've always been happy. She listens to me, and also talks me out of things that will look bad. She's an amazing stylist, and when she opened her salon, I knew I could trust that she would only hire people as good as her. Drew and Shea (Shea is the only person other than Mary to touch my hair in a very, very long time, and she did it wonderfully for my best friend's wedding when Mary was out of town) are both awesome as well.
