Although I've never had Indian food outside of the U.S., I can confidently say Ghee is obviously doing something right since I keep coming back for more! I'm always blown away by their fantastic food, great ambiance and friendly & attentive staff. Some of my favorite dishes and breads are: Potato Samosas - Cilantro chutney and tamarind date chutney. Chicken Tikka Masala - Makhani sauce and fenugreek. Kerala Lamb - coconut, curry leaf and tumeric. Beef Korma - Roasted onion, cashew and cardamom. Garlic Naan - Pumpkin seeds, soft wheat, flaxseed, sunflower seeds, brushed with garlic ghee. All entrees are served with basmati rice. Please note: Reservations are not required, but it does help on the weekends. If you do make reservations, that will require a credit card. Their cancellation policy requires 48 hours notice to cancel if not, a $25 per person cancellation fee will be applied. They also give you a 10 minute grace period, so don't be late! A horrible dining experience at Ghee Indian Kitchen. The restaurant has a very nice ambiance. The decor is sophisticated and modern, and the lighting is pleasant, perfect for a date. I also liked that the kitchen is open and integrated with the dining room. However, the service was terrible from the moment I arrived. I had an OpenTable reservation and stood waiting over 15 minutes at the host stand. The host disappeared, leaving me standing awkwardly in the middle of the server pathway while servers carrying trays had to ask me to move. I ordered the tasting menu. The snacks were the best part of the night: * Yellowfin Tuna Bhel: Spectacular, the best dish of the entire night. * Samosa Chaat: Quite good. * Green Papaya Salad: Average. * Charred Corn: Good but nothing special. * Crispy Broccoli: Phenomenal, one of the highlights. * Peri Peri Chicken Wings: Good, especially the sauce. However, after the snacks they made me wait more than 20 minutes with an empty table (the restaurant was half empty) before bringing any main courses. The main courses were very disappointing: * Chicken Tikka Masala: The worst I've ever had. Extremely bland. * Kerala Lamb Curry: Very average and completely flavorless. * Dal Makhani: Decent, the only acceptable as a side. * Turmeric Marinated Fish Curry: Excellent, the only main worth eating. * Seed Naan: Served burnt (they replaced it after I complained). The servers mumbled so badly when explaining the dishes that it was nearly impossible to understand what I was eating. In a tasting menu, having clear and proper explanations of each dish before eating it is very important, and that was completely lacking. I also asked four times for the house spicy sauce to two different servers and it was never brought. To make matters WORSE, when a friend stopped by to say hello and tried just two bites of my food, the staff aggressively confronted and pressured me, insisting that he had to pay for a full tasting menu. Their behavior made me feel like I was being scammed and left me extremely uncomfortable. First time here and it was great! I absolutely loved it! The staff (Gio and Oswaldo) were warm and welcoming and the night was unforgettable. The food was delicious and so much to choose from. To my surprise, I was more of a fan of the vegetarian dishes. From the potato samosas to the mushroom pasta, it was delicious! I always enjoy my time at Ghee Indian Kitchen in Dadeland. Patio is setup well, as a comfy little oasis downtown. The food is always spot on, fresh, flavorful and never too spicy. The meals are on the small side and a bit pricy, so just the one star off for that. $7 for a simple ice tea?! Ugh! Staff greets you immediately and is always helpful and available, without hovering. They give our Ahsoka a nice bowl of dog water without asking. So kind! The veg samosa app is TDF, chicken Tikka Masala is dreamy, Saag paneer is also delicious and do not skip the garlic naan! If you're wanting to do the tasting menu, please be sure to come hungry. I had never been to Ghee even though it has been there for a while, but now I know why it's a staple. Although I truly enjoyed everything, I would say my favs were the samosa, the papaya salad, the wings, chicken tikka masala, fish curry, and the date dessert cake with ginger ice cream was delicious as well. Didn't have a bad dish. All the plates were so flavorful. Started with the pani puri which I had never had before. Very good and fun to assemble. The short rib dosa was huge and delicious, soft meat. All I can say is OMG! we opted for the tasting menu for 2 at $65 pp. we got to sample a little bit of what the server called their best sellers. It did not disappoint. The way the server described the portions I didn't think it would be enough food but we left stuffed and barely able to get through all of it. The service was very accommodating! You may wonder how a five star reviewer could change a rating to one star for a restaurant previously labeled as one of my favorites. The answer is simple. Attitude. I frequently eat at this particular restaurant and being in Miami I often eat outside, so I have never encountered this problem although I have eaten inside and been seated with my service dog without difficulty. However, tonight when I came in the hostess immediately informed me that they do not see pets in the dining room. When I objected stating that my medical service dog is s not a pet, she pointed out that they have one table in the dining room near the entrance where they allow "pets," but that that one was taken, and that I would have to wait because the people had just sat down. I informed her that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a comprehensive U.S. civil rights law prohibiting discrimination and then people with service animals must be seated anywhere where any patrons could be seated she simply replied, " I don't care. That is how we do it here." Ignoring both the law and common decency, it's not a restaurant that should have a Michelin star, and certainly not a restaurant that should be patronized by people whether they have disabilities or not. I therefore am removing my recommendation for this restaurant and suggest to all my followers that there are excellent Indian restaurants in the area with equal or better food that do not have discriminatory policies. read more

My husband and I ordered several dishes to share: Tikka Cheddar Fries, Smoked Lamb Neck and Short Rib Dosa. Each dish was delicious and full of flavor, but my favorite, without question, was the Short Rib Dosa. We visited on a Friday afternoon without a reservation and were quickly seated. Ghee offers a fantastic Happy Hour menu Monday through Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and of course, we had to take advantage of that. The tacos were amazing- short rib with avocado. My friend ordered the turmeric marinated fish curry and it's tasty and not spicy at all. I ordered the tikka masala and it was delicious. The spicy was not over powering so I was able to enjoy with my mouth being on fire. Finally the garlic naan was just as delicious. It is a little on the pricey end but so worth it. The GHOST PEPPER NAAN is really hot and good! All the chutneys need to be tasted. W e ordered one of rack if the Main Dishes- of which are only 5 but they are enough to get the best of their entrees. The two desserts were the perfect texture to absorb and cool the heat of the amazing food. Service was great. The food was good I had the papaya salad which was limey and refreshing, the Peri Peri wings which I would definitely skip, the samosa chatt which I usually love but the bread was soggy. My favorite appetizer was the Yellowfin Tuna Bhel -- super fresh and light with a nice citrusy kick; I could really taste it coming through the lime and herbs. The green papaya salad was another win -- crisp and tangy, and knowing the papayas were locally grown in Homestead made it even better. The entrees were where the meal really shined. The lentils (Dal Makhani) were rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The Kerala Lamb Curry was right behind it -- tender and perfectly spiced. Chicken Tikka Masala came next, also creamy with a bold, savory depth. The Turmeric Fish Curry (mahi mahi) surprised me -- not fishy at all, with a really pleasant coconut flavor. Everything had great spice -- nothing overly hot, but definitely not bland or tame either. For dessert, the sticky date cake with ginger ice cream stood out -- sweet with a subtle spice that made it unique. The coconut kheer with mango was also nice, and the seasonal fruit on top showed how in tune the restaurant is with local flavors. The vibe was great -- modern but still full of Indian character. I love chef Niven's restaurants and Ghee is no exception. The food was delicious. I ordered the Beef Korma as I have a coconut allergy and had limited options in terms of mains but it did not disappoint. I wish I could have that meal at least once a month. The sauce paired wonderfully with the meat and rice. Also, if you are having trouble deciding if you should order the cheesy naan or the garlic naan, do the table a favor and get both. The naan is perfectly warm and fresh every time. The service was a little spotty but I don't know if it had anything to do with our table being sat outside. We had a toddler with us and we had to ask for a highchair several times. They never expressed not having one available or any set back they'd just say the would bring it and go on about their service. The chair was ultimately brought out when we were finishing our main dishes. My uncle went without a water glass until this time as well as they would also forget to bring this when asked. I could see they were a bit busy so this did not ruin our meal but the lack of acknowledgment of the requests seemed dismissive. When he took our order he said I was lucky because i ordered the last "Beef Korma". Joke was on me, he came back minutes later and said it was sold to someone else and asked what I wanted to eat as if I had the menu memorized. We ordered drinks, and didn't get them until after our main dishes came to the table. When I went to pay, I asked to speak to the manager and I was greeted with an empty stare as if I asked for the Dalai Lama.
