He told me to take off my contacts and put them in the case he provided. When I opened the case, there was already solution in there, and it also looked dirty. I came back in telling him that this case had been used before, and he replied with "No, it is brand new, but I can give you another one". Please I have worn contact lenses for more than 6 years, I know what a new unused case looks like. Anyway, I took the new one he gave me and put my contacts in. After the exam, i put my lenses back on. He took the case back, emptied out my solution then put it back on his shelf. I mean talk to hygiene! He also did not wipe the machine with alcohol wipes, he just wiped it with lining paper. Then he said that my eyes hadn't changed so the old prescription stayed as is. I could not see well with my old prescription thats why I came in but after all he is the "professional" one. He also gave me a contact prescription which the type of contact happed to be discontinued but I had no idea, he did not tell me anything. I found out when I tried to order my contact lenses. I then called his office and he said I would have to come in for a fitting and I would have to pay to get a new kind. He's nice enough to give me half off but I'm taking my business elsewhere. This is my first and last time coming in. Very unprofessional and unhygienic environment.

The entire team has always been professional, friendly, and genuinely caring. I see Dr. Shin, and she's absolutely wonderful. She has such a calm and kind bedside manner, really takes the time to explain everything, and makes sure I never feel rushed. You can tell she truly cares about her patients' comfort and eye health. It's rare to find a place where you feel both cared for and well taken care of, but Catonsville Eye Group nails it every time. I wouldn't trust my eyes with anyone else!

I was told that my glasses would be ready in two weeks or sooner. After two weeks passed I called (7/7/2026) to check on my glasses. I was put on hold for an extended amount of time as they looked for my glasses in the shipment they just received and then told that the glasses should be ready next week (7/15/2026). I expressed concern that I was told they would be ready in two weeks, as I immediately suspected something was wrong. The person who spoke to let me know that glasses take 3 weeks and even if it was 2 weeks they were still within a 2-week timeframe because they "don't count weekends." This was an odd way to address my concern, but this must be how the practice operates. This may be something for new patients to consider. Once I get my glasses, I won't return to this practice as waiting almost a month for my glasses doesn't work for me. I would rather go somewhere else.

It is incredibly hard to find good doctors to trust so even though I live in Virginia, I still make the trek back to Ellicott City for every appointment. The staff is amazing, super friendly, and extremely accommodating. Some of them have been there since I started coming which shows how great this practice really is! Dr. Gordon is truly the best and I would never go elsewhere. He takes the time to make each patient feel important and never rushes me when I have questions. When I was ready, he referred me to get laser eye surgery and Barenburg took care of all the follow-up appointments. I have referred multiple friends/family members here and they are all huge fans. So many friends have stories about how they had to get multiple opinions because their eye doctors are telling them to do unnecessary treatments/medications but that's something I've never had to worry about. I will bring my son when he (inevitably based on our family history) needs glasses and highly recommend that you do too. My family and I are customers for life!

The service is okay, it's just the little things I tend to notice. The staff in the back that takes care of the initial vision assessments were okay. Dr.Etter, the new physician, is ok as well. Maybe being so used to an eye doctor who provided my vision care for over 30 years and is now gone is a difficult void for another doctor to fill for me at this time. All in all, I will continue to come here until a time I feel that I may need to move on to another provider.

I paid $200 out of pocket because they refused my insurance. And the dr wanted a follow up visit in a week. I contacted the front desk, got an appt for tomorrow, and asked what the expectation was and front desk told me $130 for follow up visits. I asked to speak with billing, reached the same Cindy, and from the very start of the call, she was interrupting me, yelling over me, extremely rude after I just wanted clarity on what the out of pocket expense is. I requested a supervisor, she claims she is the supervisor. And I said the way she speaks to people is inappropriate. She claimed I never provided insurance information. I gave the info to her in writing the day of. She had everything and I was forced to pay anyway. At this point, i asked her if she had any proof in writing she informed me she would bill my insurance, and she said no. Obviously not, because I paid. I asked to cancel the appt. She refused to cancel my appointment and decided to be petty and ask me for an email in writing stating I want the appointment canceled. I asked her why she needs an email and her response was "you asked me for something in writing so I'm asking you." That is the rudest associate I have ever encountered in my entire life, and I will never recommend this facility. You don't know how to speak to people and you shouldn't be working in billing.

CONTACT LENS REVIEW ONLY!!! This office is listed as Ellicott City in the Yelp app, but has moved…read more20 minutes away to a professional building in Marriottsville. I come here for my contact lens exam and fitting. I only trust Stef, the contact lens technician, with this for me. I have been going to her for over 15 years and although I did cheat on her once (it didn't end well...), I learned the error of my ways and will only come to her. She had a boatload of experience in contacts. She doesn't just give you a contect lens exam, order the lenses, and send you on your merry way; she takes the exact measurements during your fitting, and if you're a first timer, will order some sample lenses if she doesn't have them already in her vast collection of lenses. During your follow up, she has you wear the lenses, allows time for you to sit to make sure they feel comfortable, and double checks again if they are the correct prescription for you. If not, she will reorder the correct ones for you. Once your prescription is secured, Stef sends you home with sample pairs for you to try on a gradual basis (wearing them for a couple of hours and gradual building up your wear time) with you letting her know after this trial period if they are good to go; if so, you can place your order with her office or she'll write you a prescription for you to take elsewhere. FYI: They are very competitive with their pricing. All in all, Stef at Physicians Eye Care is the queen of contact lenses. You should definitely give her a try if contacts are your thing!

Although I had done an online check in, had to ré-enter the information into the kiosk and on paper forms. Ridiculous and time consuming. They are listed as a provider by my insurance but they wanted to charge me for a medical exam beyond the routine exam and refraction I had scheduled and is paid by insurance. When I told them I only wanted to get a new eyeglass prescription they refused to help me. I explained that I was under care with ophthalmologists at Hopkins and go every 4 months for a thorough exam. I just need new eyeglasses. They refused to allow me to see an optometrist to get a new prescription unless I allowed their ophthalmologist to dilate my eyes and give me a thorough medical exam for which I had to pay. I left. Scam. This applies to all of their locations. It's a sham factory.
