    Monument Honoring Naperville Veterans

We came from Chicago to Naperville for some. Business and went to have dinner here and it was just amazing. Everyone was very friendly and the dinner was delicious. We sat outside on a nice summer evening. It was sunset so we had a great time as night rolled in. Besides the weather being perfect, the whole evening experience was top notch. We really loved the building, the decor and ambience. We had to take a nice long walk after eating all that delicious food like an Italian Passagiatta or stroll. The surrounding businesses in downtown Naperville are amazing. If you're looking for great Italian food, service and ambiance, you definitely should visit Mia Gia.

Without reading reviews or anything, I was kind of walking in with low expectations because I wasn't feeling Italian food at that moment and I was not excited about eating pasta and pizza, BUT I was very pleasantly surprised. At first sight, the place is very casual and welcoming. You don't need to be fancy to come here. It's actually quite the perfect spot in downtown Naperville after walking around. We got three appetizers and each one was amazing. My favorite was the zucchini fries. We also got the honey and ricotta and the watermelon salad. Each item was really special and unique. We also go pasta and pizza. The pizza dough is very tasty. You can eat it on its own and really enjoy it. I really left this place wanting more and can't wait to come back. Staff was great.

Wonderful pizza! I liked the pillowy crust and the mozzarella with contrast of balsamic drizzle. The mushroom gnocchi was fabulous, a great shareable.

We wanted pasta with pesto that's on the kids menu (looks delicious) but got an adult version that didnt quite reach our expectations

First off: Make a Reservation and save yourself initial trouble. We came in and was quoted 40 mins... pretty lengthy but decided to wait and it turned into almost an hour and 15 minutes. While I understand, over quote us. They wouldn't miss our business and we probably wouldn't have waited. Plus there was no where to wait - my assumption is it's supposed to be outside but this was at night and it at least 11 degrees so that was a no for us. This just turned into us either feeling on top of the tables right inside or in the way of workers. That being said, our server was very friendly, patient and observant. He noticed when something wasn't initially dropped which is a bonus for us. The Ricotta was amazing as well as the soup. We really enjoy Arancini, but honestly would get the other two items and try something new if the opportunity arises. Both the pizzas were good, but they were busy so by the time they came the appetizers settled and weren't as hungry. The pasta as described was kind of a let down, the kids pesto (we asked another table) looked creamy and delicious which was our goal and it didn't quite get there.

First time at their Naperville location. Been to the Downers Grove several times. Great experiences at both. Came in late on a Monday before closing and had a Resy reservation, but didn't know about the half off pizza deals on Monday. :-) Restaurant was packed but bar had a few seats and decided to just stay there instead. For appetizer had the Ricotta & Honey with bread which is always yummy. For entry had the Brick Chicken and Beef medallions + Cesar salad, all yummy. We will be back!

I've been here several times and the service and management is always fantastic! I loved the Tuscan bean and sausage soup- so flavorful and like a warm hug on a cold day. This was the first time I tried the Pasta Gia and it was SO good!

We LOVE Gia Mia! Nestled in the old Naperville library, Gia Mia has a warm and cozy vibe inside and a lively patio outside. Everything we've had here is great but we especially love the bolognese and the short rib gnocchi-- these are my go-to orders. The wood fired pizza is also great, but I can't stop myself from ordering the pasta! There are a lot of great appetizers and sides as well, the wild mushroom toast and the Tuscan shrimp are two favorites in particular.

We had a really great host throughout our visit -- friendly and helpful, even recommending a few dishes when we asked. We started with the calamari, which was good, though I wish it had been a bit crispier. The prosciutto and fig bruschetta was also tasty, but the fig ended up overpowering the whole bite after a while. The highlight was definitely the Mediterranean Shrimp Pasta -- packed with a variety of flavors and easily the best dish we tried. Our drinks were great too! I had one with elderberry flavoring, which was unique and refreshing, and the other was a classic Old Fashioned with cherries that was well-balanced and smooth.

9,000 mile foodie road trip. Came to try the lunch special. Had so much potential. Not super crowded but pizza came our borderline raw in middle like they were rushing to turn over tables. Sopresatta pizza and beet faro whipped ricotta salad. Salad had a solid blend of flavors. Left some of the pizza. Server was very nice

Gia Maria is located in the former Naperville library on Washington street. The outside looks just like the former Nichols library. Unfortunately the inside has little resemblance to the library except for a few books behind the bar. The restaurant features seating out front on the patio along Washington Street. There is also seating inside and among the bar area. The inside is rather loud as an open space. The space was also quite smoky from food prep, perhaps pizza. Outside area is nice for conversation and people watching. The menu features a large selection of wines. There is also a full bar for cocktails. As for food, there are ample areas of starters, pasta selection and pizzas. Plus there are some fish and meat dishes. The salmon dish was solid. The pizzas were a good size. And the pasta with pepper m, chicken, mushroom and more had good flavor. I just wish the pasta was a bit warmer. The menu also features a selection of desserts including sorbets, tiramisu, cheesecake and more. Worth a stop in for dinner or lunch. Restaurant open from 11-9pm Sunday through Thursday m. Open till 10 Thursday through Sunday. Pro tip: make reservations.

Great outdoor patio and fun for warm weather but the pizza is just okay. Apps such as the roasted cauliflower and whipped ricotta with honeycomb as well as salads are great but wish the pizza was better. It was not very flavorful and the crust was pretty soggy. We have dined in and taken it to go and it was about the same. Service when dining in was good and I would still go back to try other items.

Walked in with starving teenage boys on a Sunday after noon. The place was packed. Ordered a Margarita pizza with 6 slices for an app. We have high expectations of this one and we were all so busy eating it and looking up. Wondering is this really this amazing. Hell yes, it was. The sauce, the crust. The amount of sauce. Etc. all hit it just right. Second app was a plate of fresh cut fries. Once again this place does not cut corners. Perfectly fried with a crunch and sea salt on top. That was a busy plate getting gobbled up before our entrees showed up. For my entree, I got the mushroom parpadelle with shrimp. I had no clue until I started to eat it that it was homemade pasta. In my head I kept thinking there is no way this is not made in house. I asked the waiter and yes indeed he said they are making pasta all day long. With the amount of people in this restaurant. I can only imagine how busy that kitchen is creating this soft and fresh beautiful pasta. If you have ever made pasta. You know how much time and work it is. Sorry, back to my dish: the shrimp we cooked to a perfection. Quality high, the mushrooms were fresh and I could not wait to find more. If you want Italian. Skip the chains. You will not get this quality and love like this place.

Service was great! Everyone was friendly and prompt and wanted to make sure we had a great meal. This is what we ordered: * Nonna's Meatballs * Pear & Fennel Salad (walnuts on the side) * Focaccia di Recco (requested with prosciutto & arugula) * Linguine alle vongole I also ordered an Almafi Spritz (zero proof) which was wonderful and bright a slice of Italy to Chicago's suburbia. The food was fresh and delicious. I recalled a Davanti location in Chicago but never had the chance to check it out, so this was my first time and it was great! The atmosphere is chic and the food was excellent, but not in a flashy, overdone, complicated way, just real good, made in house, hearty Italian fare. The Focaccia Di Recco was AMAZING. Yes, all caps. We packed up half of it to take home and it was still great the next day (reheated and then toasted in our mini counter oven/fryer). If you order just one thing here, let it be this focaccia dish. I understand why it's popular and I blurted out loud several times while eating this in restaurant: "on my god" it was truly divine. As my husband said, "this food might be better than what we had in Italy..." and I don't disagree. The kitchen does not do split portions for pasta but they were able to bring out 2 plates for us to split ourselves. This is a great spot for date night, a ladies night out, or a solo wine & dine at the bar. I can't believe I didn't come sooner. Plus, it's located right next to a parking garage which made our night out really convenient! We can't wait to come back! Five shining stars.

Others at the table ordered the Detroit-style pizzas, and they looked incredible, I wish I had taken some photos. The general consensus was that the pizzas were a bit too bready, but they had good flavor, great presentation, and a nice crispy crust. Service was okay. It took a while for our server to take our order, and I wish we had been advised to share a few pizzas instead of ordering individually. So I thought we were all set. Our reservation was for 6:00, and we arrived at 5:54. We were told to wait until six, which was perfectly fine. Six o'clock rolls around and we're told they're still cleaning the table. Okay, we wait. Then we wait. And wait. Thirty minutes later, we find out the people who had the table STILL hadn't even left. Baby...what exactly were we reserving three weeks ago, a future dream? They offered us a complimentary appetizer, which I appreciate in theory, but when you've got a party of eight waiting 40 minutes past their reservation time, I'm not really looking for the cheapest appetizer on the menu. I'm looking for the table I reserved. Eventually, we were seated, and thank GOD for our server Alexis B, because they completely turned the experience around. Funny, knowledgeable, incredibly kind, and genuinely one of the best servers I've ever had. If I could give them five stars separately, I would. They made us feel welcome and somehow kept the whole table laughing after that rocky start. The food had some hits and misses. The crab cake was a little too spicy for my taste, although the rest of the table enjoyed it. The mini sliders, however? DELICIOUS. That buttery, well seasoned bun was doing exactly what it needed to do. Then came my Entourage burger, and baby...THAT burger understood the assignment. It was absolutely packed with flavor. So good that I practically inhaled it. My server even asked if I wanted another one because apparently I ate it fast enough to qualify for a second round. Unfortunately, the management situation left a lot to be desired. After the issues getting our table, the managers seemed to keep watching our group throughout the night. If you're going to stare, baby, at least commit to the performance! It made an already awkward situation feel even more uncomfortable. Honestly, my server Alexis B, was the ONLY reason this experience ended on a positive note. They were so charming and personable that by the end, they felt more like a friend than a server. I'm genuinely going to miss them. The food was good, and that burger was fantastic, but a three-week reservation should not turn into a 40 minute wait with a party of eight standing around wondering when they're going to eat. So unfortunately, I'm leaving with two stars. The food gave me reasons to come back, but the reservation experience and management gave me reasons to stay home. And to my server: you were the star of the night. Protect this person at all costs.
