Located at the end of an industrial street. I can imagine not many walk-ins happen! But the restaurant was very quaint, open and airy. Had a real nice ambiance. We came for lunch and the menu seemed a bit limited, variety of choices but not too many. Though they did have a few specials which was nice! We each just got one entree. I had the special of the day, linguine with clams in a white wine sauce. It was quite good with many clams! My boyfriend had the pasta with kale and pistachio pesto, very good! And I'm not usually a pesto fan. The star of the lunch was the tiramisu. Came with this crunchy chocolate and nutty topping, very unique and very good! I was really excited to try this restaurant for a friend's birthday. The night started out well, however, it ended on a sour note. When it came time to split the bills, they were greatly miscalculated not once BUT twice. When I pointed out the error the 2nd time around, the waiter yanked the bills out of my hand and insinuated that I am stupid claiming ``if my machine can't figure it out, then neither can you``. I felt incredibly embarrassed in front of my friends. This is not the way to treat your customers. For average food and condescending service, I will NEVER return. read more

On an industrial street there is a secret eatery. We stopped by on a quiet Thursday for a quick bite, which consisted of spaghetti with lobster sauce and a zucchini sandwich. Both were unique in flavour and completely revelatory. Since we had a long drive ahead we couldn't enjoy the wine list although we appreciated the wine bar. I've been looking forward to try this place as soon as I heard it was opening seeing how it's big sister Elena is one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal. We had reservations for three on a Saturday evening and when we arrived the place was already vibing. The location in St Henri next to the Home Depot, at the end of the cul de sac, doesn't exactly scream elegance but we quickly changed our minds as we walked up the white building. The beautiful decor and long bar by the entrance, the comfortable seating and the low lighting made this cold industrial space in the old RCA building cozy and inviting. The food was amazing! I always love unpretentious delicious simple cuisine and Gia knocked it out of the ballpark. The fried polenta and eggplant topped with Quebec sourced cheese are the two things I can't stop talking about, and the grilled shrimp are what I can't stop dreaming about..The pasta was on everybody's table so we also ordered to try and although the duck ragout was delicious, the pasta was a little too al dente for my taste. I am excited to go back and try the rest if the menu including their desserts! The wine list was great and you have very descent choices by the glass as well. The service was great. The waiters were on their toes and constantly filling water glasses and changing our settings between services. Our waiter was very patient helping us finally find the perfect wine and attentive throughout the service albeit the line outside for the second seating . This spot is an Oasis in a fairly barren, quiet part of St. Henri. It's not a secret, it has a great vibe and a fantastic product. I sat at the bar with a friend and the bar tender and fellow patrons expertly guided us through the menu. They have you order in 3 courses appetizer or skewers, a pasta, and a meat course. We loved everything, especially the ribs and the duck hearts. Put this place in the list, it will not dissapoint. read more

Everything was delicious. must order skewers, artichoke (even if our friend who does not like artichokes said it was great), steak and yes to the fries. Really great fries. The oysters were fresh and gnocchi was soft (with homemade ricotta) and flavorful. read more

My experience was based on a group reservation where a fixed menu was agreed upon with a wine pairing that wasn't. The waiter took the liberty of deciding what wine we'd be served and let's just say he didn't assume we had any budget restrictions. 250$/person later and getting rushed out the door on top of it to accommodate the next seating wouldn't qualify as a positive experience for me. read more

The food here is always amazing. That being said, the staff has some sort of attitude issue which i cannot stand. Not all of them of course, but some think that they do us the honor of accepting us. We ended up spending close to 1K and we were only 4 people. Yet we got extremely poor service. When we got there, one waiter recommended a drink that ended up costing $60 per shot. We only found out the price at the end when we tried to re-fill. Who suggests that as a first drink without a warning? Anyhow, another waitress then asked us progressively what we wanted (entree, main dish...ect) and we ordered accordingly. When we got to the main dish, we were told that our choice takes 1h to prepare and that we wont have time to eat it because our table is only reserved for 2h. I argued that is not our fault and that we should have been warned from the beginning. In addition, we ordered on time everytime the waitress had requested it. She didnt want to accomodate us but we agreed to eat something else in exchange of keeping our seating. 30 min later another waitress who we never say the whole night took over and told us the agreement doesnt work and that we have to change seatings regarldess. We argued our case without success. 30 min later, the chef came causing a scene and saying we wont have enough time. We finally got them to bring our main dish (they of course forgot the side dish salad which they nevertheless charged us for) and we ended up having the time to eat it fast fast. Ultimately, we had finished on time anyways and this entire thing lasted 1h. In no instance were we provided with a solution, a free drink or anything else to compensate. If we were told to change seatings but that desert was on them instead of arguing with us and giving us attitude we would have been fine. Instead they made us feel unwanted and we were pretty much rushed out. My friends, who always tip 25-40% sometimes, decided not to which caused another scene where we were explained how wrong we were and that it was "weird". I am sorry, but when a table spends close to 250/300 per person in a short window of 2h and your waiters do not warn anyone about cooking time and blame you, the restaurant is the problem, not the customer. easily, they could have proposed free cheap drinks to the next clients and to us or just could have not said anything and we would have finished on time anyways. extremely arrogant. read more

I had heard a lot of great thing about Gia. I came with a positive mindset and was seriously disappointed. We sat at the bar and picked a bottle of wine from the menu. We got a splash to try, but apparently this was all an act, because we asked the waiter to get something different the response was "you should not have gotten a whole bottle." Odd. The menu was uninspiring and the food was even more so. Nothing including the focassia was any good. I also found it really annoying that the photographer came in between me and my friend and blinded us with the camera flash. Really awful experience. read more
