Tasteless gnocchi with the beloved micro greens
    Sam P.

The trying-to-be-hipster atmosphere was a flop for me. The menu selection and execution of the dishes left a lot to be desired. We came on a Friday night after making a reservation for 20:30. The restaurant is pretty small, with some tables and a few spots at the bar. They have an extensive cocktail list but we didn't drink so I can't comment on that other than to say that the options looked good, albeit pricey. The restaurant was very loud and I had to basically scream so my friend across the table could hear me. Nothing on the menu particularly excited me but we ordered the best sounding dishes. We had: Ribbin salad $8: 1.5/5 nothing wrong with it but really not to my taste. The long pieces of vegetables was hard to eat Tuna tataki tacos $18: 3.5/5 not terrible but small portion for the price Fried Chicken sliders $12: 3/5 I enjoyed the taste but there was just too much sauce . The first few bites were good but afterwards it was overwhelming Pasta of the day=gnocchi with pesto $18: 0/5 complete lack of flavour. They topped a warm pasta with micro greens (I assume to complement their hip vibe???). Warm wilted leaves on top of this mediocre pasta made it even more disappointing. Expensive for no reason The service was fine and that's really the only reason I didn't give just 1 star. Everything else pretty much sucked. I would not come back here.

The place was discovered after we took a walk nearby the canal LaChine. We ordered 7dishes and 2 desserts. The tuna and fried chicken burgers are delicious. Apart of that, we find the service was pretty slow. We waiting till midnight for waitress to come to hand to us our bills. This restaurant is too pricey of its food quality. I probably won't come back again.

My friend and I tried this place over the holidays, and while our experience was ok, this place is not worth the price. We booked 2 seats at the bar and I was seated right when I walked in. Unfortunately the place is really small and the way tables are set, you cannot get to the bathroom if the waiter is at any of the tables in the back. My sour cherry drink was good, but again very expensive ($14) for one shot, syrup, ice and a candy. We shared a bottle of wine recommended by the bartender and while I don't remember which one it was, it was very good. Food was hit or miss for me. Beef tataki was chunky, full of fat and chewy. Torched salmon was my favourite, sweet, melt in your mouth, tasteful. Arancinis were ok but missing flavor. Foie gras was a tiny portion. Could only taste the fried onions and garlic bread basically. Churros were dried. Probably the worst I've had in my life, served with the tiniest Nutella minijar. Cheesecake crème brûlé was good, but it tasted premade. Overall we have much better options in the city for this type of cuisine.

Great atmosphere with lovely workers. They have happy hour $1 oysters from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm with a purchase of a cocktail, wine or beer. I also ordered fried chicken sliders, tuna tataki tacos, tuffle oil French fries. The food was spot on and will definitely come back again! It is in a quite neighbourhood, away from noisy areas. Great restaurant. #mtl #mtlfoodie #montrealfoodie #mtlfood

I came across a couple of articles during the last few weeks mentioning Mauvais Garçons therefore when my friends proposed to go and try it I was immediately down. The restaurant is located on William St in Griffintown and has this industrial and baroque touch that is really nice. The concept of the restaurant is sharing which is not my favorite, however we ordered 8-10 items from the menu and most of them were really good. I would specially recommend the Mac N Cheese, Lobster Cakes, NY Sirloin and the fried Ferrero Rocher for deserts. The service was really good, one of the owners regularly came to check on us and decided to offer us an item that we chose but did not really enjoy. It was a very good and interesting experience, I will definitely be back as they're planning on adding a Brunch Service.

This restaurant for me started off so strong! Even though it was dead I figured its OK because it's a Tuesday night and the restaurant was very cute. Plus we got good service and it probably helped that it was just my bf and I and a table of 13 people. I ordered mostly what the waitress recommended except the cauliflower taco because I felt that would not satisfy me. Apparently both tacos especially the cauliflower taco is very good. Maybe when I go back I will try it. So I ordered the MG bloody caesar which consisted of Jameson and pickle juice. It was so good! Perfect mix of spicy and tangy. The waitress informed us that they have $1 oysters so we got 6 of them from Vancouver and 6 from PEI. Then we ordered the fried chicken sliders and a side of fries. I wasn't excited about the chicken and really only got it because of the waitress but damn that was my favorite thing of the night! Imagine if a McDonald's burger and KFC had a baby. The chicken because of the buttermilk was so juicy and it was hot and steaming and crunchy. There were also arugula and pickles in the sliders too but no ones cares about that. Lol It was pretty filling. Honestly I would have been happy with just the sliders and fries. The fries were made with Parmesan, parsley and truffles. My bf said it was the best fries he ever had. I would go so far as to say that but they were good. We also ordered the steak sirloin cut in tiny slices with chimichurri and crispy leeks on top. It was good but it didn't blow my mind. Some pieces were more chewy than others. I liked the fatty pieces the best. We had the mac and cheese with lobster and pork belly. I had high hopes for this one. The waitress recommended it and I like mac and cheese and lobster and pork belly so this dish had to be a winner!! What's not to like?! Sadly it didn't meet my expectations. I wish the lobster and pork belly pieces had been bigger. They really chopped it up so finely! Had there been more lobster and pork belly it might have made a difference. But that was the least of my problems. My problem was the pasta itself. Some people like it al dente ... but me I'm used to having my mac and cheese more cooked. My bf and I felt it was undercooked for our taste. I'm sure some people like it this way though. Also the mac and cheese pasta was long!! It wasn't the typical macaroni pasta. Lastly for dessert we had the deep fried ferrero rocher. There was three chocolates deep fried with vanilla ice cream on the side. To me it tasted like a regular ferrero rocher. You barely taste the batter. It's was good though. Not too sweet. The ice cream had a different texture. I wonder if it was homemade because it was icy and kinda chunky. Haha that's sounds gross but I assure you it wasnt. I hope this place gets more customers because it has a lot of potential! I would come back to try the other things on the menu like the foie gras. Oh and I would definitely go back for the fried chicken!!

Calamari for an app. A lobster roll for my meal and a drink. The sangria came quick and was good, a little syrupy. The calamari and lobster roll took a while, but maybe they are a bit more relaxed in Canada. No one was available, even for me to waive down, no check ins either. Again, probably customary in Montreal, I don't know the culture that well. The calamari was pretty looking, but it was tough as a well done leather glove. The "lobster roll" had about two pieces of lobster, the rest was small shrimp. The flavor was good, the bun was perfect. But still, for the price, a disappointment. The French fries were delicious but soggy. Maybe that was a spin on Poutine.??? I sat for an hour without being able to get someone. I will not return.

Open kitchen with two chefs and two front of the house staff who were warmly welcomed me and were professional throughout. Had the oysters, clean and crisp with a nice Spanish Cava. Tried the lobster croquetas and the anchovy toast points. Tapas were in point, the anchovies were a tad too salty for me. Ended up ordering the catch of the day, butterflied sea bream. It was the piece de resistance. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the cheek/head was juicy all the way to the tail. The sides were fine, the papas bravas could have been crispier, but fine. Green beans were nicely seasoned. Had half and waved the white flag. Paired it with a tasty Albariño. Great start to quick sojourn in Montreal.

Just before arriving, we decided to stop in to Les Torchés for a drink or two. I was happy to see a wide variety of beers on tap, and chose a pint of Murphy's Irish Stout ($10) to start. After inquiring whether margaritas were made from scratch or from a premade concoction, my wife chose the margarita ($11) and then happily watched as the bartender put all the individual ingredients together in a chilled glass. Given how horrible one of our previous experiences was with a totally unfriendly bartender at an unnamed establishment in the same general vicinity as Les Torchés, I would be remiss if I didn't mention how sociable the bartender at Les Torchés was. After learning that we were visiting, she went out of her way to make us feel welcome. And even though she was responsible for patrons both inside and in the outdoor patio area, she still made time to check on us and to inquire how we were doing and whether we were ready for another drink. My wife declined, but I took her up on her offer of another pint of Murphy's. All-in-all, it was a splendid respite from a hectic day of shopping. If possible, we will return for another, longer, visit.

We were greeted by the barman as we entered, who seated us and explained their cocktails and the menu. He was very friendly. I normally don't go for cocktails cause I feel that it's all ice and juice, but these were incredible! I had the Mexito, which I highly recommend and it's not too sweet and my friends had the Berry Nice and Peach Plz which they equally loved. We started with their variety plate that included their famous guacamole (it's famous for a reason), quesadillas, bacon wrapped jalapeno peppers and stuffed croquettes (my personal favorite). We then tried the tacos! Omg their tacos! We had beer battered fish tacos (they've won best Montreal tacos in the past), Jack Daniels marinated beef tacos (my favorite), chicken and pineapple tacos and their homemade chorizo tacos. We wanted dessert, but didn't have room, so we'll just have to come back. I got to meet the chef/owner. He was very kind and we got to hear his story. Born and raised in Mexico city, he brings authenticity, fresh ingredients in his kitchen and you taste it in every bite. If you've never been, you should definitely go and let me know when so I can meet you there!

Our waitress asked if we wanted everything served at once or in 2 servings. Given we had ordered 6-7 tapas platters and the small table space, we figured 2 servings was a better idea. The first serving compromised of garlic butter sautéed mushrooms (7/10), maple syrup doused grilled eggplant with goat cheese (8/10) and a Spanish charcuterie & cheese plate with olives (6/10). The food was in all great, we finished the first serving pretty fast. We figured the second serving would come more quickly but it never did! By then we were already full and tired. It could've been that the kitchen had already prepared the food and the waitress had too many customers to serve. I called her over and told her I would only pay for the dishes we ate because the food was taking too long to come out. She got defensive and said the food was on its way and ready. I insisted no. After which, I asked if we could pay right away as we had to head out . Another 15-20 min wait as she served others . My impression would be if I had 2 customers that were upset and ready to leave, I would tell the other table " I'll be right back shortly , I just have to close this table off". She had no sense of time! It's too bad that the service can't match their quality of food and atmosphere.
