I can honestly say this was the best restaurant experience of my life LOL. Off the bat our server, who was actually the restaurant manager, Jodan I believe, was so attentive and charismatic. As I waited for my friend I noticed that everyone working there is so sweet and loves being there and it shows in how kindly they interact with the guests! My friend wasn't sure what drink to get so they were kind enough to let her taste test to settle on a decision. From there we got our food - the catch of the day and spaghetti - genuinely some of the best Italian food I have ever had!! The flavor profile of every dish was so well curated and just writing about it makes me want to take the 3 hour drive to try it again. Afterwards we had the chocolate mousse and tiramisu which was also some of the best I ever had. By that time it was getting dark so Jodan rolled over a whole heating lamp for us since we were the only two left outside. The view was soooo peaceful and beautiful and the weather was perfect so if you can eat outside I def recommend. The bay is genuinely so lucky this spot exists, it deserves more recognition but I'm also selfish and want it to stay as the local gem it is. read more

we came here twice in our marin county trip! the first time was on a friday night, 20 minutes before closing (due to car trouble), when we had a delicious linguine vongole and a scrumptious pork chop with some incredibly buttery lima beans and morels. our waiter was so sweet (i wish i had snagged his name) and they were super accommodating even though we arrived so close to closing. we loved this place so much we came back on sunday for brunch! again, food and drinks were wonderful, and everyone was just so kind. the ambience here is great, the staff is wonderful, and the food is tasty! if you're in the area, don't miss it! read more

Stopped in around 3:30pm - the restaurant was closed until dinner service at 5pm. Gratefully, they were offering a happy hour in their very cute bar area and some food specials. We ordered the steamed local clams in a garlic white wine sauce with crusty bread, and fried calamari. Both dishes were deliciously season and cooked. I've dined here several times over the last few years. It's nowhere near home, but worth the drive always. This is a very down home-style kind of location - tucked away among the trees in Woodacre / San Geronimo. With an inviting family-like dining room, along with a fireplace, a bar for the locals up front (we can ALL be locals here!), and a spacious back patio, where you can bring your dog if you'd like, but just a gorgeous deck under the trees -- Giaco's Valley Roadhouse provides an idyllic setting for a relaxing dining experience. But wait, there's more! The food! It's absolutely outstanding. There is nothing on the menu that I've tried yet, but I don't fully enjoy. The last couple of times I have, it has been for brunch. It made such an impression on me the last time that I had to bring my kids this time. Among the many jewels on the menu is an incredible Maple Pear French Toast - obviously seasonal, but it hits the exact perfect notes. Covered in a generous dollop of ricotta, these dense custard-soaked French toast slices are covered with warm pear bits -- and candied walnuts... plus pure maple syrup. It's worth the trip by itself. Other brunch items were well received - two eggs breakfast, huevos rancheros, and a special omelet boasting cheddar, bacon and spinach. Add a wine list - by the glass - that doesn't disappoint.... Amazing brunch! But it's not just brunch, this place is open for dinner and has a delicious looking menu that I've sampled once before. first: service is awesome! you will have a good entry with the friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating staff. from the hostess to the busser, they are excellent. the food is very good. i had a cobb salad and it was fresh, flavorful and good presentation. excellent choice of teas and comfortable seating. so why not 5 stars? outdoor patio got cold and the use of outdoor heaters would have been nice. we were told we could come inside but we were into the meal so it didn't make sense. last thing is a personal thing: all restaurants should have the choice of large or small portion sizes. i am not happy when i see the waste of food and we had a lot of leftovers. because we were out of town, we had to leave it. read more

My mom and I live out of town and after a long day of travel, we arrive to our Airbnb late and decided to try Giacos because it was nearby. we arrived at the restaurant late (close to closing) and the staff graciously sat us anyway (at their last available table). They apologized in advance for the wait (due to a full restaurant and being understaffed) and left us with menus. Our waitress Greer greeted us right away, who was an absolute joy; she was not only professional but made us feel right at home. We ordered the Hamachi crudo, cesar salad and Short rib pappardelle & chocolate mousse. Everything was absolutely amazing. Giaco's is my favorite place for brunch and Eggs Benedict. Unfortunately, the last few times the yolks were cooked solid. Today, 3/28, I hade the same hard yolks. I ordered a mimosa and water for drinks. The water was delivered by a young man and was warm and without any ice. When the mimosa was delivered it was also quite warm. I wasn't able to get anyone's attention until I had already eaten one of the Benedicts. I asked if they had any cold water or ice and for another mimosa if the orange juice and champagne was cold. They were both good the second time but there was still no ice in the water. Again, it took a while for me to get someone's attention so that I could pay. We stopped here for lunch on the way back from the beach. I think it was the day that they were closing up for the Christmas / holiday break. They were trying to clear the kitchen so they were out of some items on the menu. This was the first time I'd been here. I love the setting and the feel of the restaurant. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and I would give it 5 stars. It was the perfect amount of meat and trimmings. It was probably one of the best fried chicken sandwiches I've had. Unfortunately, my daughter's breakfast burrito wasn't so good. Her favorite version of breakfast burrito comes from the Garden Cafe over the hill in San Rafael. This version, though, was very poor. It actually does matter how you distribute the ingredients in a burrito. It can the difference between good and bad. Also, she had asked for crispy bacon and it was barely cooked. My 4 star review is an average between 1 star for the burrito and 5 stars for the chicken sandwich. read more

Head west over White's Hill and you're in the Valley, where Giaco's Valley Roadhouse is located. You might be a mere 40 minutes away from San Francisco but things are different out here as my experience clearly demonstrated. The staff seemed ample and kind but basically clueless in the art of service. Coffee and cream were served without any silverware on the table. Five separate requests for silverware were made of multiple workers and still, the only way I got a spoon with which to stir my (now cold) coffee was by going inside and getting a spoon myself. I watched as a nearby table's plates were served and observed several minutes elapse before they were given tableware with which to begin eating. It was cold outside and getting a working space heater took time, effort, and finally, masking tape. A beer arrived, but it was just that, not the IPA that had been ordered. While experiencing all of this, my party had observed two separate menu notations: First, a "5% Marin mandate" is added to all bills. A "mandate" is an official order and Marin County has no such mandate in effect. So prices are actually 5% higher than the stated menu price. The menu also mentioned a 20% service fee for parties of 6 or more. Though not unheard of for large parties, a 20% mandatory tip for poor-to-middling service felt egregious and while we waited for the silverware to materialize after those repeated requests it became somewhat of a sore subject amongst those at my table. Food arrived, colorful, mostly tasty, and ample in portion, but foreshadowed by the service issues we'd already experienced. We were thankful to see that the 20% service fee had not been included and we tipped well regardless so I guess this is my way of telling these folks: your service levels seriously impacted my enjoyment of your restaurant. With the cost of dining out at an all time high the expectation is that food and service should be worthy of the prices being paid. Giaco's missed the mark on this visit. read more

Came back for brunch today and I was again amazed by the food! The Crab Benedict was absolutely delicious. It was just the right amount of the flavorful hollandaise sauce and the egg was poached so perfectly. The crab meat was tasty and it went so well with the Brickmaiden sourdough bread (now I have to make a visit to this bakery). We went once and will never return. We went for a child's birthday, and they did not want to seat us despite plenty of open tables and a reservation. The atmosphere is great, it's a bit out of the way but that's what makes it unique. I usually order a salad but today I ordered a fried chicken sandwich. It was good but I felt like something was off. My husband ordered fish and chips and took some of it home. After we were home for awhile I smelled something really awful. I think it might be that the oil for the fish and chips hadn't been changed for sometime. Came in after having a rough day and Giaco's was a much needed respite. The atmosphere is lovely, it looks like a cabin inside. Super nice staff and excellent food. I cannot stress enough how delicious the pork chop special was. If you are stopping by and you enjoy pork, this plate is for you! The sauce was so rich, it kinda tasted like wine. Keep in mind, it was a special so it may not be there later! We also had the eggplant parm, prosciutto pizza, olives, and calamari. All of it was very well seasoned and delicious. We visit Giano's once a year when on a vacation in Pt. Reyes. While the food is always superb, the service is completely lacking. This year the affable young man had a hard time remembering our orders, had to check with the bar several times to find out if they could make the standard drinks we ordered (they apparently could not), and spent a lot of time talking in a loud voice with the cooks while we were trying to have a conversation in the dining room just a few feet away from all of them. Nor did he know how to place the plates on the table or clear them between courses. It would be great if your waitstaff was nearly as good as your menu, chef, and ambiance. This roadhouse is just adorable, it's tucked away in a little side street in the middle of nowhere. I've never been here before and I heard it was remodeled. It's classy, but not super classy, so you don't have to worry about being super dressed up. The service was exceptional, the bartender was so nice and friendly, as well as everyone else, food is yummy, heard they have great live band nights, deducted a star only because food is a little overpriced for smallish portions, i'll definitely try to make it for the lunch menu next time and be back for more drinks at the full bar read more

Had a delicious midweek lunch on the back patio while visiting in the area. It wasn't crowded and appeared to be mostly locals (off season). Blue Salad was on point! Everything fresh and tasty and a decent size portion as things go these days. BLT with fries was good and not much you can do wrong on an order like that. I held back on the fifth star only because my order was so basic that it's hard to really assess a place. But I'd come back for sure next time I'm in the area, for the salad alone! I have favorites I ordered here out of desperation because I didn't have a place to cook and needed to eat! So I paid for no fries and burnt onion rings that I ate one and threw away, shucks Also, I've ordered the carbonara at least 6x and only found out from the bar tender an egg is supposed to be placed on top? Not my experience.... Not that I want the egg, but the bacon on this dish can go from yummy to terrible. Each time I've had it the bacon had been from almost raw to charred, large to small, .... Just no consistency. NOTE: This used to be Two Bird's Cafe. Quick recap: We had outstanding service! The food and drinks were all delicious! To start with, the hostess and waitress were extremely nice and accommodating. We arrived with a party of 7 right before they were about to close and they were so welcoming, asking us to come in. (We had planned to arrive earlier, but the road is windy.) Now that I know how great the place is, I would definitely make the drive again to come here. We came for brunch, and I'd love to come for dinner as well. I honestly can't stress enough how amazing the service was. The food was delicious all around and it came out really quickly. We had the regular Benedict and the Gravlax (smoked salmon Benedict). They actually smoke the salmon in house! We also had the breakfast sandwich, omelette, and burger and everything was spot on. The burger was juicy with a fresh brioche bun. Adding avocado and bacon is highly recommended! You pay extra of course, but they give you half an avocado, and delicious bacon. We subsequently decided to order an extra side of bacon! They also recently got a liquor license and the drinks were very tasty. I recommend the Passion Stormy (surprisingly good twist on a Dark & Stormy) and the Ramous Fizz.
