Been here numerous times, including for dinner on NYE. Never disappoints. Things we had on our most recent visit where the chicken parmesan and the gnocchi bolognese. We could have just had the chicken as our meal and still brought some home as it's a very large portion. Gnocchi hit the spot as well. We had a delicious meal last night, one of the first nights of opening up after COVID. Our server was wonderful! And overwhelmed! This gal was like a whirling dervish, constantly trying to please the many, many tables to which she was assigned. They definitely need more help (there's a help-wanted sign in the window). I had the Country Rigatoni, which was outstanding. The only negative comment I have is that the bread they bring out before the meal is not warm and the infused oil with basil and Parmesan cheese would be infinitely better if they used freshly grated Parm. I love this restaurant. I've been there many times for dinner with small groups. I also worked with their managers twice when putting on a shower in a party for a group of 35 or 40. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Giannis yet; I've eaten here so many times. I love and crave Italian food often and this place is my go-to for that in the area. My favorite dishes are the chicken dishes- awesome picatta and Milanese. Specials are fun to try too! And the build your own pasta is a nice option as you get just what you want without having to make it yourself- arrabiata and classic marinara are always great. Only negative is how small the bar is as it's a fun place to sit with some happy hour food specials. Best sangria around! Sadly, strip mall restaurants are a regular thing in the burbs, but this one is not one to overlook. read more

Apparently, Gianni's has been at Deer Park for like 6 years, but this was my first visit. Wow! What a find! You don't expect to find a quaint, little Italian cafe in a strip center in Deer Park, but that's exactly what you'll find at Gianni's. I took my wife out to dinner and it turned into a romantic evening for two with some excellent Italian food. She had the "create your pasta" with Aglio Olio sauce and shrimp. I went with the chicken parm. Both were excellent and the portions were sizable. We will definitely be back and might even become regulars. Too bad that I didn't find Gianni's sooner. read more

Gianni's is great dine or carry out. We have been customers for years. The Kildeer location can be tight and loud on weekends especially during holidays, and better for lunch or midweek dinners. Went here for the first time last night and it was a good experience. Yes, the place is small but I like the quaint cozy atmosphere. Our service was good, not great, but she was very nice and polite and checked on us often. Nothing to complain about with that. Our entrees were a generous portion, as I would expect at an Italian restaurant, but not overly large. The chicken picatta was very good but not the best I've had. I got Aglio Olio on my pasta and I was very happy that the garlic wasn't over powering and that it wasn't too oily. It was very light and just the right amount of sauce to give flavor but not overpower and saturate the pasta. The person I was with said the chicken parmigiana was amazing, but I don't know how much of a food critic he is, lol. Totally meh. We met friends here, and we probably won't choose this place again, although the veal Marsala ordered by one of our friends was very good. Good food, but loses 3 stars over cleanliness. We went during a weekday lunch shift, it was slow but nice and quiet. The side dishes given to us for bread were constantly dirty (so much so we just decided on the plate with the least amount of food stains and shared an edge of it together) and were constantly sending back silverware (both of our knives were dirty and so was my boyfriend's fork). Seriously though not a single plate without a food stain. Maybe we will go to the Palatine location now... My wife and went for lunch yesterday on a whim. Wow were we surprised. Cute little place with Italian sayings written on the walls, yes I could read them. I ordered one the specials, gnocchi with shrimp, absolutely delightful. The gnocchi we're pillow soft and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. The sauce they were served in was perfectly seasoned and flavorful. Definitely a winner. My wife order the salmon in dill sauce, I'm not of fan of salmon but she said it was fresh and very good, she couldn't stop raving about it. I have dined at Gianni's about 24 times over the past 4 or 5 years. Unfortunately, something happened over the past few years that has seen this once great gem deteriorate. I was there last night (granted at the end of a long Mother's Day). Kitchen was incredibly slow. We ordered Pasta and it took over an hour. One of the dishes was not even cooked! The sauces were very watery and the vegetables were old Then the waitress went MIA, we saw her working on her checks and her tips and ignoring us. To make matters worse, they delivered a piece of cake to our table with the world's longest hair inside. Disgusting... We used to really look forward to coming here, not I realize it is overpriced, very cramped and ownership doesn't prioritize customer service the way the need to Too many other options out there to have to settle for expensive mediocrity sorry, that was my last visit. read more

Gianni's cafe is small but the quality of the food and attentive service was outstanding. Erica S. our greeter and server was amazing in her suggestions and service. She did not miss a beat. My wife had Chicken Parm and I had Eggplant Parm. Food portions were large, quality was outstanding and came out very hot. Food snob here. How does this place have 4 stars? It's brutal. Oysters were disgusting but I suppose shame on me for ordering oysters in the Midwest. They didn't taste fresh at all. The vodka pasta sucks. The sauce mediocre at best. My little girls had pizza bread and French fries. The pizza bread was essentially just bread with some jar sauce on top. And they forgot the fries. The food is good. Large portions. Great value for the money. It's best if you make a reservation in advance. My only complaint is that the tables are VERY close together, which makes it hard to hold a personal/intimate conversion. We ordered the chicken marsala and pasta & the chicken parm over pasta. One plate would have been enough for all but we couldn't choose between the 2. Our next visit we will return but will not get the chicken parm. The marsala was very good. The table behind us ordered the lasagna .. We will try that instead of the parm next time we visit. Alcoholic drinks were expensive and not worth the $$. You would be better off ordering a glass of wine or a beer at this location. read more
