I had a business lunch here. And this place is a true gem. Food is prepared really fresh and so flavorful. I had a cup of Clam Chowder which was surpassingly really good. Not too thick flavorful with plenty of clams and potato's. Seasoned really well. I also had the spicy calamari wrap. It was STUFFED with really well cooked calamari. Huge sandwich. I was here with a group last night. I ordered the roast duck with risotto. Generous portion, cooked to perfection. I also ordered the dessert trio, which was a cannoli, small wedge of red velvet cake and a strawberry tart. Our server was very efficient and handles everything smoothly. Had my future daughter in laws wedding shower at Agio let me tell you the food was nothing but amazing from the fried calamari to the zitti with vodka sauce everything was on point and the service was absolutely great the atmosphere was very pleasant. Went here on Feb 7 for a birthday and the experience was awesome. Great food, bread, and drinks. Our waiter was very nice and our food turned out to be very delicious! The resturant wasn't loud and looked very clean! At the party's table, we got olive oil and shredded cheese with some bread to go with it. Very good. I ordered the Lemonade and it also tasted very nice. Then I got the Alfredo pasta with the chicken as the protein and I enjoyed it very much. Definitely would come back. read more

HOW IS THE AVERAGE STARS FOR THIS 3.4?!?! As soon as I walked into Agio I instantly knew I was about to have a 5 star experience. This bistro is beautifully decorated and up to date. It is small and locally owned with extremely comfortable booths, standard dining seating, a bar area and an outdoor patio. Wherever seated - the view is stunning. The attention to detail in the decor is impossible to miss. I was here for a weekday dinner and by 6pm the place was jam packed (on a Wednesday). I highly recommend making a reservation even if dining in during the week. Service throughout was great. As soon as my friend and I were seated, water and table bread were brought over to us. Our server was the perfect amount of attentive. He was quick to put in drink/food orders and checked in on us a few times throughout the evening. We were in and out within 2 hours and did not feel rushed at all. For drinks I ordered a french martini. It was delicious, light and refreshing. My friend ordered a red blend, which I tried, and it was REALLL good. Their wine selection is top notch and you can't go wrong with whatever you order. For food we started with the antipasto platter. It came with 3 different cheese, artichokes, olives, peppers and a few meat options as well. I wouldn't order this again however I am glad that I tried it. For my entrée I had the pan seared flounder and WOWWWW. The portion was generous and I ate the entire thing. I am the type of person who usually has lots of lefts overs, but this was waaaaay too good to not finish in 1 sitting. The flavors were light and refreshing while the fish was cooked perfectly. We came here on a Friday night with reservations, and the place was definitely filling up. This is our first time here, and we've driven past it so many times! The owner was manning the check-in booth, and he was extremely friendly. Our waiter was also welcoming. We asked for recommendations, and they gave us a ton of really good options. We were told that most of the pasta is made from scratch. We got the chicken Parm, and the short rib. Those were both really good dishes that we would get again. Can there be a no star option? I am in disbelief of the way I was treated at Agio in Palatine. I went with two friends who were celebrating me being cancer-free and I was super excited. My two friends received their food. Mine came out 20 min later. A braised short rib. I took one bite, and it was impossible to chew. I had a friend try as well and she agreed. I asked the waitress to take it back which was no problem. A min later, the "owner" walked up to me with my plate and told me that it was impossible to overcook that meat and if I got a new one it would be exactly the same. I was shocked. What happened to the mantra that the customer is always right? And I was. I said to not even replace it and just take it off the bill. I then walked over to him and very nicely said I have been there multiple times and been happy and was very insulted by his response to me being unhappy with my meal and he responded very aggressively. He was convinced I was in the wrong for my food being inedible, and I am pretty sure he wasn't even aware that I had to wait for so long for it to even come out. I got more upset at the response, and he told me to stop shaking my finger at him, turned around and walked into the kitchen and acted like I wasn't still standing there. My children acted better than him at the age of 2!! I feel so beyond disrespected. Please do not support this man's business. I look forward to him responding as he does for negative reviews. Be prepared to pay 11% tax Be prepared to pay an additional 3.5% if you use a credit card. Be prepared to pay a cancellation fee of $25/person. Your have to guarantee your reservation with your credit card. This i has to do for Christmas Eve. Do not know if this is the restaurants regular practice. Personally, there are other restaurants that I'll use in the future. Paying an additional 14.5% on a $512. bill ($74.24) is not acceptable. 7-8% tax, is understandable. read more

On time deep cleaning works quickly and cleans up after himself right now I wouldn't use anyone else

Food was good but initially we had a problem with the service. We were seated and sat for over 15 minutes with no acknowledgement by a server. People were seated after us and the server immediately greeted them. I went to the hostess and asked her where our server was and she asked where I was sitting. I showed her our table and she said ok yet, she didn't do anything about it. I then asked the server at the table next to us if she knew who our server was and she responded don't worry, I'll take care of you. She was very good and so was the food but it isn't that big of a restaurant to be totally ignored and have to ask why we are being treated as if we are invisible. read more

Let's start with the fantastic clam chowder, which I would highly recommend getting for an appetizer! I just wish they offered this in a bowl instead of a cup as It's too damn good to just have a cup! This is the best clam chowder that I've ever experienced! Someone ordered some nice bottles of cabs for dinner, which I downed with my bread and calamari dishes! Every time I set my cup of water down, it was quickly refilled by the fabulous Lucio! The main course was the house made lobster ravioli......this was unbelievable! I had to get another bread basket to soak the delicious leftover sauce from the ravioli. A couple of my buddies got the lamb shanks, which looked like it was cut from the Fred Flintstone era. These were humongous! I had a great cup of coffee to settle my stomach down. Our waitress was fantastic, always attentive and prompt with her appearance. If you are looking for an Italian restaurant in Palantine, stop over at Agios! This is a hidden gem in Palatine! Such a great little date night place. We had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary here. Staff was really sweet. We went in March so they had the fires going in the back room and it was really nice. Food was great. A bit expensive but definitely a nice treat every once in a while. We had a reservation for Mother's Day for 7 adults and 5 children. One child is 1 years old. The restaurant wanted to charge us $22 for the 1yo. We explained that she would have her bottle and eat at home and we just needed a high chair for her. They would not budge. They would rather loose the $500 reservation than the $22 for a 1 yr old child that wasn't going to eat. We canceled the reservation. I will never go to this restaurant. read more

We are regulars and yesterday was another special evening, this time we were accompanied by our niece. Most times we opt for seating in the bar, with Patrick, a bartender and host who welcomes us and everyone else with excellent service and details on menu options and spot-on recommendations. During quieter periods he is engaging as a storyteller. We also return for the food! Quality of the fish specials is unsurpassed and consistent. Service is excellent - from all staff members. We love coming here and feel that this is a "home away from home" when we don't feel like shopping or cooking. Carryout is also an easy option. read more

Kids went in a group for Homecoming, manager was rude and dismissive of the kids who spent several hundreds of dollars on dinner. Manager put limits on what they could order and complained that they needed to split the bill between couples. Agios Haas some of best Italian food served in the area but today i was alittle taken by surprise. Now one would think that birthdays age a special event that get families together to enjoy the favorite food, family, which many Italians cherish and celebrate but not at Agios. That privilege will cost you 2 dollars a person to cut your own cake and celebrate that birthday. All i can say about that I'd how non Italian that is. I found that extremely appalling to be charged 2 dollars a plate to enjoy a cake we boughr, no recognition from staff and to be honest, a Matre we saw only twice all night. We had to ask wait staff for addition drinks and or condiments, service was terribly slow, and it was very early in the day. Unfortunately i can only recommend Agios going forward for their food alone and not on real Italian traditions and extremely poor service. read more
