Ordered to-go since we had a giftcard. Our first time trying Via Roma did not dissapoint. I do wish the calamari was a little crispier and the Pollo in the Risotto fried to give it some more texture. But in all, flavor wise these dishes were delicious. I would definitely order the Risotto again. And they are very generous with their bread and butter portions -- they were the star of the night and paired well with both of our dishes. Service was good. Ordered a pepperoni pizza to share for a light lunch. Our server brought over some bread in a basket which was good. However, this was the poorest excuse for a pizza that I've ever seen. The crust was a 1/8" thick cracker(complete with symmetrical holes in it) with cheese, tomato sauce, and a few pieces of meat. No billowy crust, no loft, no chew. Just crunch. They should take this thing off the menu. read more

Haven't been here in years since we used to live in the area and they were in downtown Des Plaines. There were 8 of us and we managed to get seated right away before dinner rush came in. They start you off with warm toasted bread and olive oil w/ cheese while waiting for your food. Even the kids liked the olive oil. We ordered 3 children's pizza (not pictured) thinking it'd be a solo/mini size for kids. Turns out it came out as a 12" though that's our fault for not checking. Food-we ordered Fried Calamari which was overcooked and became tough. Marinara sauce was good. Bolognese was good. Ice tea was good and refilled. Carbonara tasted good but not cooked properly as the egg was scrambled. They shouldn't have served it like that. House bread with olive oil and grated cheese was good. Capriciosa Pizza was underwhelming. Prices are okay for the portions. It's worth visiting once and trying and see if you like it. Service was excellent. My girlfriend and I went here last night for dinner. It was my first time going. It was packed and rightfully so because the food and service were out of this world. I just so happen to be Italian and have visited Italy but this restaurant had the best cannoli and cappuccino I've ever had. I got the gnocchi for my entree and that was amazing as well. Another perk is I love that you could bring your own bottle of wine and there's no cork fee. A hidden gem on Rt. 14. This no reservation, Italian BYOB is an excellent choice if you have a taste for Italian. Pasta dishes are excellent and the specials menu changes often. We started with complimentary bread, and as appetizers, we got bruschetta which was good but not outstanding. As our entree, we got the rigatoni in creamy tomato sauce (kind of like vodka sauce) with veggies, and it was delicious! The sauce had so much flavor, and it was fresh! The service was excellent, and the inside of the restaurant was pretty tiny but decorated like Italy! I'd go back and try out more items from the menu! OMG I was looking for a restaurant to have a decent dinner before a concert. I am not familiar with the restaurants in the Des Plaines area, but I thought I would give this a try. This place is freaking amazing! It was absolutely delicious, and I will definitely be returning. A couple tips. They don't take reservations so depending what time you are arriving expect to wait at least an hour. We arrived at 6 PM and waited approximately 30 minutes. The restaurant is relatively small and unique. I love the fact that it is BYOB and there is no corking fee, matter of fact, they will let you use their wine opener and you open yourself at your table. The plate sizes are very generous expect to have leftovers, which you will definitely appreciate the next day! The prices are actually very reasonable for the quality of food. I was very impressed. Just thinking about this restaurant my mouth waters! Parking is accessible in front of the building on the street, behind the restaurant, or even across the street in the train parking lot. While there is street parking, there are additional parking space behind the building too. There is a selection of classic pasta, and a good selection of fish and seafood on the menu. There is also Gluten Free pasta available, BYOB with no cork fee. We both ordered pasta (Spaghetti Carbonara and Fettucine Papalina). They both were delicious. When I asked how the carbonara was prepared, the staff told me that it has cream, so I requested without cream (Roman style).
