Risotto Pesto Pollo, Calamari and Fettucine Papalina

Ordered to-go since we had a giftcard. Our first time trying Via Roma did not dissapoint. I do wish the calamari was a little crispier and the Pollo in the Risotto fried to give it some more texture. But in all, flavor wise these dishes were delicious. I would definitely order the Risotto again. And they are very generous with their bread and butter portions -- they were the star of the night and paired well with both of our dishes. We'd come back just for the bread, perhaps sit inside their cozy establishment next time.

Haven't been here in years since we used to live in the area and they were in downtown Des Plaines. There were 8 of us and we managed to get seated right away before dinner rush came in. They start you off with warm toasted bread and olive oil w/ cheese while waiting for your food. Even the kids liked the olive oil. We ordered 3 children's pizza (not pictured) thinking it'd be a solo/mini size for kids. Turns out it came out as a 12" though that's our fault for not checking. Service is great and they're all so nice. Food tasted very good, though I do miss their Scoglio spaghetti and I saw it's not on their menu anymore.

Via Roma is unmistakably good - whatever you order, you'll probably have a very hearty feeling eating here. Everything is homemade, delicious, and extremely filling. Though the menu isn't vast, the staples such as pizza, pasta, and risotto are offered. Not to mention, Via Roma brings a little bit of the essence of Italian cuisine to Des Plaines - using simple ingredients to let the natural flavors shine through and do the talking. If you're lucky enough to sit out on the patio, you'll have a nice outdoor dining experience and witness just how friendly the service is.

I tried out a local Italian restaurant in the neighborhood, which was good! The restaurant is a hidden treasure! We started with complimentary bread, and as appetizers, we got bruschetta which was good but not outstanding. As our entree, we got the rigatoni in creamy tomato sauce (kind of like vodka sauce) with veggies, and it was delicious! The sauce had so much flavor, and it was fresh! The service was excellent, and the inside of the restaurant was pretty tiny but decorated like Italy! I'd go back and try out more items from the menu! Tips: -tons of parking in the back -get there early during dinner time and/or on weekends because the restaurant is small, so they can seat you!

Solid menu, sort of pricey but nice portion sizes, consider skipping the apps and bread to save room, quaint Italian vibes in the suburbs, and service was solid

Service was great. Portions were large, risotto was enough for 3 meals! Not a large restaurant but doesn't feel cramped.

Absolutely delicious! Every dish is made with care and top-quality ingredients. We started with the homemade bread with garlic spread and calamari "Bobby style" a signature appetizer, which was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. For the main course, I had the Veal Pancetta, and as always it was one of the best I've ever had - rich, flavorful, and packed with layers of love (you can really taste the passion in the cooking). You can tell this restaurant is dedicated to keeping things local and supporting the community, which I truly appreciate. It's rare to find a place that combines amazing food with such a strong sense of family and connection. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area - you won't be disappointed! We were so happy with our lunch experience. The food was better than other Italian restaurants we have ate at. Service was great. Full disclosure. It was a Saturday late lunch and the place was basically empty. Our server started us off with a small loaf of warm Italian bread. Dipping sauce was olive oil with spices and tomatoes. It was heavenly! My husband ordered the Vodka Rigatoni with small asparagus pieces. He said it was better tasting than my homemade Vodka Rigatoni! And he was right! I ordered the Eggplant Salad. What a showstopper it is! It tasted as good as.it looked. The fried eggplant was sliced thin, breaded and fried. The salad included mixed greens, mozzarella slices and tomatoes. Their prices are very reasonable. I urge everyone to go to Trezeros.

First point the waitress was very nice. First came The bread which was very good, then we ordered the mussels, average garlic sauce awful mussels, way too small And overcooked! You could barely see the mussels inside the shells. I ordered a Braciole and my wife ordered Veal Saltimbocca. We waited about 45 minutes for the food to come, my braciole was flavorless the stuffing didn't taste like anything the meat was tough and tasted boiled, the risotto underneath was Ok, only ate about 1/3 of the braciole, it truly awful. My wife's veal was inedible, very very tough, she couldn't barely cut it! The prosciutto on it was thick and overcooked, disgusting! We told the waitress who was sympathetic, said she would send the manager we never saw him instead she offered free dessert. Moral of the story! We left most of the food on the plates as it was inedible, worse $132.00 I have ever spent, we will not be back, I wouldn't feed that food to a dog!

We were a little surprised when nothing was done for it, which isn't a big deal, but I'll be honest it was disappointing since we did come specifically to celebrate and had talked about it w our server. 3/5 Arancini - Very salty. None of us really enjoyed them because of that. They also came out lukewarm instead of hot. Would have been excellent if it was less salty and came out hot and crispy. 5/5 Fig & Mushroom (subbed for prosciutto) - The menu doesn't specify how the fig is served. Turned out to be fig jam rather than fresh fig, which wasn't what we expected. A little too sweet for me but overall still very much enjoyed it. Their pizza was cooked perfectly with enough toppings and cheese. Very good pizza! 5/5 Braised Short Rib + Polenta - so good! The short rib was excellent, just slightly salty. The polenta was perfect, and it came with a generous portion of wild mushrooms. 2/5 White Wine Cake (recommended as "unique") by our server - This was the most disappointing meal item. Our waitress told us it was special, but it was very bland and didn't match the description or image on their website. Their website showed a cake with a large scoop of ice cream on top, fair amount of whipped cream and raspberry sauce. Ours came with maybe a quarter of the size of that ice cream scoop, a little teaspoon dollop of whipped cream that you eat in one bite and the raspberry sauce was a tiny smear on bottom for decor but there wasn't enough to actually eat it. The cake itself was moist but lacked flavor. It took a really long time to come out, we thought perhaps they forgot, then forgetting we were celebrating a birthday on top of that was disappointing. Atmosphere - Beautiful space, very well done. The only issue is how close the tables are, you can't pull your chair back without hitting someone, and getting to the bathroom requires asking others to move because of how tight the layout is. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would return. While there were a few dishes we wouldn't order again, and others we would. Would love to try the wild mushroom pizza next time! The only thing was that since we had come to celebrate a birthday and didn't end up doing that, the night felt a little less special than we had expected--but still a nice experience overall.

They have an extensive beverage program here, including mocktails, and that's what I settled on. I got one called Strawberry-Basil something, and it was so good. The strawberry-basil shrub was a key ingredient, and I don't get to a lot of places that use a shrub in their drinks. There was definitely a STRONG vinegar taste but for me, that was great. I also ordered a pasta dish, orecchiette and sausage with peas and a sweet, creamy sauce. Orecchiette and sausage are such a classic combo and I hadn't had this sauce before; it was a pleasant dish and was perfectly al dente. Service was good for the bar area. There's parking around, both in the lot right outside and the public parking lot below. And then of course there's the lots by the library and whatnot, so you should be able to find something.
