I really like the pizza here. But I really wish you could order online. There's one word I would use to describe the guy who answers the phone and it would probably be censored. Rude nasty man who barks "what do you want, name, phone number" and can't even be bothered to say thank you. First off, yes - cash only. Minus one star for that. Minus another for the staff. While they weren't rude, per se, they certainly could be more amenable to the customers. The remaining three stars are for the food. The cheese pizza is very good. I was told to get the Sicilian by a friend and, while i loved the dough, that's all it was. the regular large pizza was a much better balance of dough, sauce and cheese. The appetizers were fine. I would absolutely order jalapeno poppers and chicken fingers there again. Are they the reason to go? Not as such, no. But worth getting while you're there. One of the better Italian-style pizzas in Framingham. If they would accept credit cards, I would be a more frequent patron. If they did that, I wouldn't even mind them being (nearly) rude to me. :-) read more

I decided to try this place based on reviews, but I won't be back for more. The pizza had minimal cheese, minimal sauce, and although I paid for 3 toppings the total amount was that of one. So for about $20 I got some bread with a few sprinkles of cheese and toppings. The cheese calzone was also mostly bread. I literally had to go home and add mozzarella before I could eat it. Sauce wasn't in the box until after I requested it. The crust for both was heavy and thick, not a typical nice Italian pizza dough as was expected. I am laughing while reading the other reviews. I can see what people mean by saying the staff is not over friendly. I *sometimes* feel like I am bothering them by ordering their pizza - but in all honesty, I think they are VERY nice guys. SOOO many times they have INSISTED on carrying my order out to my car while I struggle with my 3 very young children and the food. I always insist no - I dont need the help... but they just come around the counter and help me. There are other times when I go in without the kids.. and they ask for them every time. The food is great. I have trouble resisting the pizza! My take on it.. they are just looking to sell their food, not make bff's while doing it. The pizza is almost worth the trip from Boston (Because there isn't any good pizza in Boston). I travel out this way for work, so I make it a point to drop by for a Sicilian slice whenever I'm close. The crust is excellent NY-style middle-weight with good chewiness and firm crunch, the sauce is perfectly balanced sweet and salty, the cheese is fresh and plentiful, and everything is properly proportioned. read more

Generous toppings that were fresh and well portioned, good sauce good cheese and thicker crust made for one great pizza. Slices start at $1.80 and subs range from $4-7. They even have Sicilian slices for $2 if you're looking for a heftier meal. Having lived in Framingham 3 years now, we've managed to try quite a few pizza places in our area. However, we stopped trying different places once we found Gianni's. (Except in August when Gianni's is closed for a vacation week.) I'm not sure how they do it - my wife says it the tomato sauce - but they make really great pizza. We've made it a Friday night deal that I look forward to all week. When you get a busy signal when you call after 6pm on a Friday, you can just take that as a sign of how many people consider Gianni's the best around. We don't often carry cash (we're plastic only people most of the time), so it took us a few months to try Gianni's. My husband, B, is a big fan of Sicilian style pizza, so he was psyched when he saw it on their menu. We got a Sicilian pepperoni and onion rings. Dude, that pizza is HUGE and HEAVY. I didn't know what to expect when I picked up the box, and it dropped a good six inches in my hands. The pizza was SO good, and it fed us for like, 3 days. The onion rings, not as good. They tasted a little metallic, almost. I wasn't a fan. I really want to try their regular pizza, and am mystified by the "thick dough" concept... what the heck do they think the Sicilian is? Now they have put up these signs that bark about "political correctness" and how they "always" say "merry Christmas" and support the troops, and say "one nation under God" etc. That's fine, I say merry Christmas too (unless I'm visiting a synagogue or something). What can I say... these angry guys make some of the best pies in the area. Solid NY- style. Great flavor with just the plain sauce and cheese. Have had the deep dish pizza several times from Gianni's and it is my favorite pizza that I have had in the area since we have moved here about 1 year ago. I am a fan of deep dish pizza and it was hard to find a place in the area that made a good deep dish. The pizza is not perfect but is by far the best that I have had in the area. If you are in the Framingham area this is where I would go but I would not make a trip out of your way to go here. The service is ok, not very welcoming but they are pretty efficient. read more

Visited this restaurant a number of times in the past and have always gotten medium to warm pizza. Little or no tomato sauce. For the most part my husband picked up the pizza. I always complained that it was never hot. Yesterday I decided not to blame him any longer and ordered the pizza myself. The person I spoke to on the phone was short and quite rude. I discounted this and thought that he was probably busy. I asked how long it would take and guaged my time accordingly. He told me that they only took cash, no credit cards or checks...now I know why. I waited the allotted time and walked in to pick up the pizza...it wasn't ready. Not a problem, I gave my name and waited until they called my name. I went to the counter and asked how much it was. He gave me an amount which 10% above the cost of the pizza; not the standard .0623 tax on the pizza- snatched my money and gave me the change. No thank you or Come back again. BTW no one in the shop was wearing a mask. I WILL go back, but I will ask the base price of the pizza and confirm the tax before pay. Taste-wise it was a midocre pizza with no tomato sauce on it; again warm not hot. read more

I live pretty darn close to this place...so close I actually go there to pick up food instead of getting it delivered. The pizza is good, nice and greasy. The french fries and buffalo fries are nothing to write home about. Pre-blanched frozen deals that you can buy at a restaurant supply store. Greek salads are good they crush it with tons of fetta...and I do appreciate that. But where they really shine is in the Sub department. Being a full blooded Italian that crap subway passes off does not fly. Chopped pickles and tomato's with hot peppers. Mortadella mozzarella cheese, prosciutto oil vinegar salt and pepper. Oh, so good. (excuse the spelling) The people that work theirs personality does leave something to be desired. Just tell them what you want, wait for the food and pay. Don't make small talk or try to pal around because they don't want to be your friend. Let me first off say that I started coming here in 6th grade and came every single day until my senior year in high school. Giannis pizza is the best pizza you are going to get in Framingham. After you get to know the guys who work there you find that everyone is really friendly and nice to their customers. A great selection of pizza and they usually have it waiting for you so there isn't much of a wait. I now live in Tampa for school and I miss Giannis everyday. It was also one of the only places open during Hurricane Irene, so they are dependable. First off, its 2011 if you run a food business you should take plastic, which Gianni's does not. Best pizza-sub shop in Framingham, period. People complaining about the cash only policy, really need to frequent more small family owned establishments, because a lot of them pass on the credit-debit cards to keep their prices reasonable. I'm sure they'd gladly add the service, but their prices will all go up $2-3 per item across the board, since they take a percentage. Tried it once ordered-in to work and went there once. A bit out of the way if all you know if Framingham is route 9, but it was worth the drive. Very reliable and close by - much better than most of the local pizza places I've had in the past in the Boston area (e.g. in Somerville, Cambridge). They always have slices of cheese pizza available and that's a sure thing with the kid. Some folks have described the pizza as Neapolitan - perhaps - it actually reminds me of NYC style pizza, though the sauce is not as deliciously zesty. We often get the pasta dinners. They're actually pretty good in a pinch, particularly for the money (~$10), though the chicken is always a touch dry. All in all, a great local take out place. read more

The pizza is good with the Sicilian being something different from the norm, however my favorite thing to get at a pizza place to go with my pizza is a good Greek Salad, and Gianni's just doesn't have it. Their Greek Salad actually had regular olives instead of kalamata (a pet peeve of mine -- I order a greek salad and I would like some greek olives with it, too, please). Prices are reasonable and this is a nice family-owned business. There are pictures of the grandkids all over the walls and you can expect to see them walking around in the office area of the establishment or perhaps eating their lunch at one of the few tables inside. read more

We have been going to this neighborhood place for years. They have the best pizza in Framingham as they are originally from NY. They also have good pastas like chicken caccitore, ziti-garlic/oil-broccoli-chicken. The salads look fresh but I don't like the dressings they use there so that could be improved. They have a special sometime called the roast beef au jus sub, if you ever see it shown for the day, order it. It is wonderful and tasty. There subs do run small but are pretty good. I get their steak and pepper sub there which has very little fat/grizzle which I hate. Now that Natick pizza is changing hands this will be my go to sub place along with Pizza Peddler in Natick which has wonderful deli meats, try them too. There are 2 guys here that are friendly, the rest are more busy and not as friendly. This place gets a lot of business. read more
