Giant continues to sap my will to live every time I enter its doors. The aisles are still narrow and crowded and now they've added this Byzantine "digital coupon" you must somehow use through their app (in addition to the deals you have to use their shopping bonus card to access) or you'll pay double the "sale price" for some items. Produce is also still hit or miss and prices are fairly high overall. Once you survive the gauntlet of suckage and are ready to leave this place, Giant has one last surprise in store for you. You have a choice of waiting in absurdly long lines for the 1 or 2 checkout lines that are open or using a self service check out that only allows 20 items or less and is virtually guaranteed to malfunction at least once per trip for no real reason, causing a stressed out employee to have to intervene. I come here occasionally since it's the closest full grocery store but coming here is a chore for sure. read more

This Giant location is close to where I live and convenient to everything. What makes it different than other stores is that they actually sell ready-made pizza and even more sandwiches and wraps. The layout is somewhat different in that the aisles are shorter, however there are more aisles. I got a couple of things from the Deli section and there were three employees working there which made everything go fast. Normally at other stores there is only one person and 3 - 4 customers waiting. I didn't see any salad bar, and I'm not sure if they got rid of it. I also purchased a gallon of orange juice and some strawberries. I was tempted to get some fresh sushi for lunch as well, but opted to eat what I have leftover from last night. read more

I can't say great because I requested a product that the manager doesn't seem to be able to procure for me. Ready Refresh used to deliver 4 cases of bottled water called "Splash Refresher" once a month and I asked the manager if he could get the product for me in watermelon and raspberry, but he never got back to me. It works for the basics. Giant isn't nearly as cheap as Aldi or Lidl. Yet it has a lot more items and selection. To its credit they occasionally have exceptional sales. Yet Giant is more expensive than some of its competitors. That can't be denied. This one is quite easy to get to. They are rarely out of an advertised item. Their bakery section is delicious. I do like getting yogurts here. Employees are always friendly, and polite when in here. They definitely have a well organized shop. Check out is usually a cinch. This is my local neighborhood Giant. I only go here because it is close to my house. Every time I walk into this location, I take a deep breath knowing that I will be disappointed by this store or it's employees. Yesterday was no exception. The majority of these union grocery store employees at this location do not give AF about customer service. 80% of the time if I ask an employee where an item is, the most common response will be "I don't know or I don't speak English". Yesterday I tried to find "bread crumbs". I assumed they were in the spice aisle, but I just didn't see them. I ask a Giant employee where the bread crumbs were at because she was actively putting price stickers on the shelves in the spice aisle. She told me, "I don't know" and went back to putting stickers on the shelves. Another employee said he didn't understand English. A third employee sent me back to the spice aisle with enough loose instructions that I was able to find the bread crumbs. This happens almost every time I try to find a product in this store. It is so bad that I will usually ask another customer where something is located. Then when it is time to do self checkout, the machine constantly barks at you to "place the scanned item in the bagging area" without giving you the .005 seconds of time necessary to actually put an item in the bag. Then the machine will stall and you have to wait for an employee to come over and scan their card. Plus as common in Northern VA, the parking lot is jacked up too. Anyhow, it makes me miss Publix even more. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THEIR PHARMACY! The sheer incompetence and lack of customer care is one to behold...and I've dealt with many over the course of several years! You will be left waiting for ages if you walk in. Prescriptions are very rarely ready whenever you order them online (so much for convenience). You'll have to perform summersaults and cartwheels to get them to notice you standing at the counter, and even then you'll be lucky if you're greeted! Terrible....just plain terrible. read more

This is a slightly above average Giant, which is not saying much. The parking situation definitely sucks, but that is not the store's fault at all. I found what I needed and made my way to the cashier, where I was met with quick and friendly service. I will say that some things like canned tomatoes and Gatorade were cheaper here than other stores. Certain beer like Ballast Point was marked up in comparison to other Giant stores I have shopped at. The bakery shop was awesome in how they assisted me in designing a special cake for a colleague who was retiring. Not only did they present me with a beautiful cake, but what they did later was amazing! I picked up the large cake and took it home, but couldn't fit in my refrigerator. They not only said I could bring it back for the night, but repaired all the damage I inflicted on the cake when I was trying to squeeze it into our refrigerator. I go to the Seven Corners Giant on occasion because its near my house and I don't feel like trekking to Whole Foods for some reason. I can tell you that prices at Giant are normally HIGHER than Whole Foods. No, I'm not kidding. Quick example...I needed limes and ran over to Giant...89 cents a piece. A day later went to WF for regular shopping and limes are 59 cents a piece. Organic, free range eggs at Giant are $6.99 a dozen, at WF you can get superior organic PASTURE RAISED eggs for slightly less. Just two examples but the list is endless. Potato chips? The difference is staggering. The fresh food sections? Giant's selections are aged, displays often dirty/disorganized/limited. Finally...the self checkout. The most obnoxious audio exchange of any store, and constant problems requiring employee interaction to resolve. No comparison. All in all, overpriced, substandard quality, and subpar fresh foods. read more

This grocery store location has always been somewhat better than other places around this area. You can always count on their produce to be super fresh and their deli to be right in cue. I've never had to wait very long to place my deli order. I have noticed however, that they had raised their prices for the honey roasted backed chicken that they sell already prepared. Last year up the price was $4.99 and this year it's $5.99, which is quite a leap. The salad bar is stocked well with everything you can imagine, but it too is quite expensive on a per-pound basis. Their milk and dairy products like yogurt have always been the most fresh, and I've never had any problems at all with the groceries that I have purchased here. My only suggestion is to not come hungry because it can save you quite a bit if money literally. read more

The customer service at this Giant Pharmacy is appalling. My wife and I initially sent our prescriptions here because of the proximity to our house, but I've switched to the CVS next door as their service is far superior. This Giant Pharmacy is understaffed; prescriptions called in disappear, the waits times are long and the staff often rude. Recently my wife's doctor called in an important prescription but the pharmacist was busy giving vaccines and unavailable. This appears to be a management problem at this specific store as we used to get our prescriptions filled at the Giant in Ballston and had no problems. Steer clear of this pharmacy if you can, especially if you rely on getting your meds in a timely manner. read more

This Giant is interesting in the sense that the food quality and the amount stocked is decent, but the service is awful. Typically the two go hand-in-hand. I'd shop at this Giant regularly even when the Harris Teeter opens nearby, except for the dreadful lines and the awful customer service. Waited in line for 30 minutes yesterday while both the manager and the cashier couldn't figure out how to let someone pay using food stamps. I've complained to the store management multiple times about the length of the wait and all they do is smile at you and say they'll look into it. This store is really close to my house, so I can just run in and grab a few things if need be. You have to really plan out your schedule to make sure you miss the peak times. After work is a busy one as well as after church on Sunday. I've found that Saturday around 6-ish is a pretty good time to go. Less people there. My one compliant is that the parking lot sucks. The store is always crowded and the parking lot is so small. I just hate having to hunt for parking around that area! read more

I've lived in the area for 5+ years, and I'm sick of the lines at this Giant store. It has all the perks of a local neighborhood store, but when your choices at check out are do it yourself (which - mind you - you'll end up needing needing the 1 or 2 customer service people to help you with the check out systems) or 2 open registers that move at a colossal pace, I'm ready to take my business to the Safeway in McLean (6244 Old Dominion Drive). The time you spend driving 4 miles over there, is saved by the expedited aisles and even cleaner and newer store. And for you coffee drinkers, there's a Starbucks in the Safeway. I keep hoping you'll get your act together, Falls Church Giant, but I'm losing patience with the long lines. read more

I mean, when they say super store, this takes the cake. I was so impressed that all I could do was stand by their huge Red Box machine and try to get a movie out. Overall the store is about better than average grocery store. The store is usually nice and clean, the aisles are organized and moderately stocked most of the time. The parking lot is good most of the time, but just sometimes it might be a little crowded during rush times. The lighting there is great and highly visible. Only complaints is that sometimes the aisles are crowded with a bunch of boxes sitting around or stock, and the attitude of some of the employees are ridiculous. Some of them are rude and don't want to move out of the way when you need to pass by. Even when having questions, they just push it off to someone else. The checkstands are moderately convenient. They can get you in and out without saying a word. I would recommend coming in to this store if you are looking for a store with convenience and know what you want. read more

Generally, a Giant is a Giant that's well, a Giant. Usually, you'll find the same selecting regardless of which one you go to however, this was not the case today. After going out of my way to find some key Latino ingredients that I was unable to find at the stores I typically shop at (i.e., Whole Paycheck and Harris Teeter), I was really hoping to find a few ingredients here and I did. I found almost half an aisle stocked of Latino ingredients with a variety of producers. Because I was looking hard to find these ingredients and found them at Giant of all places, I would feel bad if I didn't not give this Giant the recognition it deserved. Wow, I wouldn't mind having this Giant closer to my house. I thought this place was brand new but I guess from the other reviews they just finished renovating. I popped in here on a Saturday around lunchtime and it was crazy crowded (why do I even bother grocery shopping on weekends?). Their produce section here was so well stocked and pretty...I never wanted to leave it. I wish my local Giant was this nice...although then I guess it would get crowded like this one too. Despite the store being crazy crowded, they actually have enough employees to run all the cash registers, so the lines were only two deep...and I even found an empty self check out, yay! There's Pie-Tanza, an indian restaurant, a chicken out, abc store, and hallmark all in the same plaza. read more

I almost grew up in this Giant, and when it was privately owned. I have to say that after it was sold and bought by the Dutch company, Giant really went downhill. While here last Sunday, I shopped here for the first time in over a decade, and was blown away by the amount that I spent. I'm not too sure what happened, and granted I'm not a coupon clipper, but next to no savings w/ the bonus card. It's worth my time and savings to drive to Fairfax or Ashburn and go to Wegman's. I don't normally review grocery stores but the customer service here is always top notch. Had my first experience with the pharmacy earlier this month and the pharmacist saved me money by calling my insurance company to sort things out. I have a sweet tooth and have never been disappointed with the bakery section. The marble rye bread in the deli section is delicious for Reuben sandwiches. Also, when I'm on the go, the $5 combo deal (sub, chips, soda) is always a good choice. Only giving it 4 stars because I miss my Central Market in TX (food lover's paradise). read more

Don't come here after 10 pm. Everyone seems to turn into a pumpkin & they become really cranky. Last night I stopped by after rehearsal to grab some things & the woman at the checkout was straight rude. Tonight I stopped by again after rehearsal & I literally stood there waiting for the woman to check me out for about 5 minutes. 3 employees were standing there just chatting. They saw me but ignored me, so I went to the self-checkout. It was actually pretty bizarre. I felt like I had become invisible or something. The giant itself is average but my review is for the pharmacy specifically. Hands down the least professional and clueless staff I have ever dealt with. I don't want the lady standing 10 feet behind me to know I needed a script of viagra to compensate for the other medicine that is causing me temporary ED, but the head pharmacist in all her infinite wisdom decided to use no discretion when screaming my personal info for all to hear. They also couldn't seem to answer even basic questions about insurance or ordering meds they didn't have in stock, which seems to be many. They have a decent selection of items, but their meat counter leaves a lot to be desired. I use this store mostly for last minute items or when I just need to pick up a few staple items. I take my business to Harris Teeter when I need to get meat items and/or to do a larger shopping trip. read more

This grocery store has been renovated, so its appearances have improved. Unfortunately the selection has decreased with the widening of aisles. This store has also had the annoying habit of moving sections of the store--I've been shopping here since 2002 and it seems that every year I have had to relearn the store layout. The store is also almost always packed with people. On the positive side: Many self-checkout stations and portable scanning units!
