I want to give a shout out to the owner! Our truck broke down towing our fifth wheel and she let us park in her lot while we waited for a tow. The staff was so friendly offering us water. I went in and bought an iced white chocolate raspberry mocha which was excellent- not too sweet. I was not hungry I would have ate, because the food coming out looked fantastic. This is an updated review. Ok.... First I was put on hold for about 15 minutes probably would've been a lot longer if I didn't hang up, but once I hung up and tried to call back, the line was busy so I ended up going inside... I ordered two lattes that tasted like milk the amount of coffee that was put in. There wasn't very much I was told there are four shots in there after I asked for more but I ordered coffee a lot of places and there is no way there was four legit shots in there. I have tried going to this place multiple times as I live very close and would love to have a nice place to go, but every time I leave disappointed or something is a little bit off. First of all the food here is to die for. The breakfast skillet will have you eating the rest of the meal for dinner. The misses had the French toast w/ eggs and bacon. The bacon and French toast alone had you eyes hungrier then your stomach. Now the service needs a bit of work. We sat outside for almost 15mins before we got someone to help us. We came in for breakfast today, this is such a great spot with all their cute decor. I had the biscuits and gravy, the 2 biscuits are large, cut in half, so you get 4 pieces and smothered in your standard gravy. The biscuits are the star here as they're big, buttery, grilled on the flat top and delicious. My daughter had a meat lovers omelet with potatoes and marbled rye toast. It's nice that you can choose your meats in your omelet either chorizo, ham, bacon or sausage. The marbled rye toast was the best she ever had! Absolutely SMASHED the food here. Got the bbq burger and the table split some fries and onion rings. All was cooked perfectly. The sides were delicious and wish we had made bigger orders to more stuff ourselves. The burgers were huge and really hit the spot. There was a band playing, which was really enjoyable. They rocked and they had a fun rapport going with the crowd. Service was a bit slow, but the team was running around, so I think it was a staffing issue. We have been wanting to try Gibson's ever since we moved up here, and we chose the perfect cozy snow day for our first experience. Suzy was so kind and welcoming and made us feel at home. We ordered up front and then chose a seat in the back corner of the dining area. I chose a build-a-breakfast with sunny side eggs, country potatoes, corned beef hash, and sourdough toast while my husband got the loco moco special. We also ordered an iced chai and an iced white chocolate raspberry mocha. We loved the atmosphere and steampunk decor of the cafe! A few more people arrived shortly after we sat down, so we were glad our order was first. It wasn't too long before Suzy came back with our drinks as well as our food. She was working by herself when we first arrived, so we didn't mind the wait. Plus, we were in zero rush. Everything came out nice and hot, and I absolutely loved the crispiness of the potatoes. My eggs were not seasoned so I could add my own salt and pepper, which I prefer. My toast was delightfully buttered. There was an option to add jam but I opted not to this time. The corned beef hash was flavorful and not too salty. My husband's loco moco was absolutely divine. We loved the flavor of the gravy and the rice was perfectly cooked. Neither of us could finish our food, so we brought leftovers home. If we were hungrier we probably could have finished our food, but the portion sizes are definitely hearty. The prices were reasonable for food in the foothills, and Suzy makes all the food with love. All the ingredients are fresh and nothing was too greasy for my liking. During my pervious, I'd talked with Jim and Suzy about their "Kimchi Burger," and it was a "no brainier" for me to go with burger, as I'd been looking forward to it for the last couple of months. From the special "Father's Day Menu," I went with a "Kimchi Burger," along with the side of my choice which was fries. The menu describes the burger as, "Hamburger patty on a bun, with Suzy's homemade kimchi and a side of your choice." My choice of side was Suzy's amazing fries, which I simply couldn't resist. The foundation of a this unique, great burger was the large, half-pound or so patty of seasoned, tender ground beef, cooked to perfection by chefs Suzy and Tanya. As per my likings, the beef was cooked to medium, which is standard, but if you prefer you meat cooked another way, simply tell your hostess and the beef will be cooked your way. The meat arrived on a fresh, lightly buttered and toasted bun. Kimchi... that's the national dish of both Koreas, and is enjoyed at practically every meal in both countries. But... have you ever enjoyed a "Kimchi Burger" or even envisioned such a delicious offering? Me neither... but during my previous visit to Gibson's Roadhouse Cafe, when I found out the Gibsons were offering it on the menu, I simply HAD to check it out! A "Kimchi Burger" would truly be a new dining experience... Kimchi is marinated, pickled cabbage, carrot and onion, and is a staple in both Koreas. Suzy's homemade kimchi truly embraces the mixed, diverse flavors that kimchi has to offer, as the taste is both varied and subtle. A generous portion of Suzy's kimchi was placed on top of the burger patty, and made for an amazing topping. Hold the mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles or anything else... Suzy's amazing kimchi carried the show and made the "Kimchi Burger" standalone good without condiments, and a burger to remember. The side of fries complimented the burger perfectly. The fries were thin, slender and very long, perfectly seasoned with just enough salt to give them a sensational taste, but not enough to mask the tender goodness that all perfect fries have to offer. The fries were moderately crispy golden brown on the outside, and juicy tender on the inside. One bite into the "Kimchi Burger" was nothing like any burger that I've ever enjoyed in my 7 decades of burger connoisseuring, as the sensation was simply unique and amazing. The chilled, tangy kimchi met with the warm burger and bun provided a warm/chilled taste sensation - which elevates any burger to the next level - and simply one bite into this burger let me know that I was transported into burger nirvana with a unique Asian twist. Gibson's Roadhouse Cafe nailed the meat-to-bun ratio, which is crucial to a great burger, and added just the right amount of kimchi to create a burger unique to the restaurant and unlike any burger that I've seen on the west coast. Simply delicious! The Pacifico beer was an appetizer... or was it dessert? Anyway, it worked well with this amazing burger... Where else on the west coast can you enjoy a delicious "Kimchi Burger?" My friend and I have gone there twice, first for breakfast and second for lunch. I was happy with both meals. I had a breakfast burrito on the first trip and really enjoyed it. A good sized burrito with very tasty fillings and a spicy salsa served in the side. Second trip was a patty melt that also was tasty, served with fries. My friend and I had the same order and both of us had asked for sourdough bread instead of the rye, but it got overlooked. Luckily, the rye wasn't very strong, so the oops wasn't a big deal. A little mistake isn't enough to dock a star from the review. All in all, I am very happy with the flavor and size of both meals. We will return. read more

I invited my Grandson to accompany me to Gibson's. I'd never been there before and I saw a post on fb that a live band would be there and dinner would be served. The band sounded great and the place looked really nice! Large sign outside stating Gourmet food is served. We walked in and the woman behind the cash register was glaring at my grandson, it was very uncomfortable. We found a couple of empty seats and my grandson went to the counter to place an order. The woman behind the counter loudly asked "Are you drunk? you stumbled in here!" Which was untrue and ridiculous. My grandson was extremely embarrassed. He had just gotten off work, he's going to dinner with Grandma... if that wasn't bad enough she later went to each table, asking to inspect thermoses, going on and on about bringing alcohol in, that there's cameras everywhere and that they'd be in BIG trouble, very aggressive, loud and distracting. This was an older crowd, a family crowd. I understand the concern, but to grill people really isn't appropriate. Fortunately only water was found in the thermoses. She harassed a table of women, couldn't hear the conversation. But their thoughts were clear when she left. The whole experience was tainted and we left. Oh and the gourmet dinner that was served...hot dogs and hamburgers. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

First time in here. Place is under new ownership. Looks to be a really popular place with the locals. I had a specialty coffee. One of their specialties is coffe. They use Vanellis coffee. I had a mocha drink with an extra shot in it. I ordered a Gibson burger. The burger patty is infused with cheese, jalapeño peppers and cheese. Served on a brioche style bun. Place is not very big inside. Cozy. Love the decor. Lots of character. It is a feel good kind of place. Order at the counter before finding a place to sit. Amanda was our cashier and server. She is awesome. Really has a gift of a very pleasant nature. She obviously loves what she does. Honestly very charming. I will return. This place has a magic quality to it. They make and sell their home made salsa. Delicious. I bought a container of it to take home as my wife is always in search of really good salsa. It did not disappoint! It does get busy here on the weekends because they have live music on Saturdays and have outdoor seating. Ate twice at Gibson's Roadhouse Cafe and both times I had amazing food, amazing service, & unforgettable memories. The first time I went I had the 'Upcountry Bowl'. It includes light and savory gravy, fluffy and moist biscuits, sausage and/or bacon, and wonderfully seasoned country potatoes made from scratch not a frozen bag. The second time I had 'Make your own breakfast'. The bacon was perfectly cooked and I can't get enough of those potatoes!!! The service is sweet, homey, take your time to enjoy the roses in the awesome outdoor area filled with a beautiful garden, Mr./Mrs. Potato head parts and blocks for playing, and a real life Burning Man bus! They have an indoor eating experience decorated in steampunk extravaganza, too! I brought kids both times and the staff is super family friendly and accommodating!! The toddlers got to run around and play tag, see the garden, and burn off their energy while we waited for our food. Not sure that we will be back. The staff is nice, and friendly which is a plus, but its definitely overpriced. My husband and I stopped by on a Saturday morning a few weeks ago for brunch on our way up 88. A BLT sandwich, breakfast burrito, bottled water and mocha was $46.00. Adding in a tip brought us up into the high $50.00 range - for just those 4 things. Thats a bit much. Especially considering that you are buying your drinks (the bottled water) and if you run out, you have to just go buy another one. The service was a little slow as well. I do hope they do well, there aren't a lot of places to eat along hwy 88 up there and this is a great location. I wish you luck. read more
