Cookies are amazing. Got the toffee pistachio and it was so good with perfect amount of salt. Also grabbed the cookie of the day which was a rocky toad. October for Gideon's means the limited edition Frankenstein cookie!! This cookie is filled with chocolate chips on the inside, cookies & cream, and smothered in M&M's. I look forward to this cookie every year as it is by far my favorite Gideon's has to offer. I wish it was sold all year long. Since it's limited edition, they have a limit of 2 per person and it is first come first serve so make sure you get there early before they run out (has happened to me a few times, unfortunately). I got there extra early today to make sure I got mine . Additionally, every now and then they will offer Frankenstein cake slices (triple stack chocolate cake, cookies & cream buttercream, layers of M&M's, ganache drippings, and buttercream accents) during the month of October, along with Frankenstein chocolate dipped cookie chocolate chip cookie cake slices (my dream to try one, but have yet to). This was my first visit to Gideon's, actually my first visit to East End Market. I frequent the Plant Street Market in Winter Garden. I found this a smaller version of that fun spot. I got there on a Friday evening after many places were closed or closing, but Gideon's was still open. I purchased a few things. My favorite was the toffee nut chocolate chip. I need to go in earlier to get the good stuff. I missed out. I imagine this is a great option after Domu. Also a great option to share with family. Came on a Sunday afternoon and they had already sold out of two flavours and then when we got to the front of line (which was less than 5 minutes long) they had sold out of another flavour. I have heard and read some good things about Gideons and their cookies, so I was excited to experience for myself. On a visit to East End Market, which is where they are located and be aware, the parking or lack there of, may deter you but soldier on. We made our way to Gideons, the staff made up of two friendly ladies, greeted us right away. On display were the famous giant cookies, cookies overloaded with chocolate chip goodness. On the counters were beautifully decorated cakes, one for sure was carrot cake, the others I could not tell, but they looked amazing. Gideons baked goods are limited, they are made fresh with unique techniques and they go fast. Although very pricey at $5 a cookie, they cookies are enormous and loaded with chips. They have different varieties that may change on a daily basis and even run out before you reach the counter, because the line can get crazy long. On this trip, we took advantage of the cookie bites that are covered in chocolate and sea salt and the peanut butter one had peanut butter chips. Delicious! The chocolate, you can tell, is not any run of the mill chocolate, it is rich, decadent and deep in chocolate flavor and the salt elevates your taste buds. Saw a buzzfeed video of this place and decided to try it while I was in Florida for the thanksgiving holiday. The video showed Gideon's as a huge bakery, but when I arrived, I realized that it was as big as a cubicle and surrounded by a bunch of other small business. The decor reminded me a lot of Harry Potter or the set up you see at Universal. Same black and brown colors with a magical vibe. The video did get one thing right though, the cookies are HUGE. They had several flavors showcased in a glass cabinet, but since I got here around 8PM, the only flavors they had left was the original chocolate chip cookie and the pistachio one. I decided to try both, because why not. The cookie is 5$ (with tax) and honestly for the size of it, I'm not even mad. It tasted just okay. An Orlando original. Gideon's is on just about every Orlando-Foodie's radar, and for good reason! I remember my sister telling me years ago when I was back at UCF about these to DIE for cookies. (Mind you I love to bake so my expectations for baked goods can be incredibly high.) One day she brought me this mammoth of a cookie, HALF OF A POUND. I took one look at it and was like OK, this may be too much even for me. The cookies are enormous and COVERED in toppings. The chocolate chip is stuffed with and entirely coated in large chocolate chips and likewise with the other flavors. Still skeptical I took my first bite. Heaven. Somehow Gideon's has managed to keep their cookies from becoming overly sweet or overwhelmed by ingredients (yes, looks can be deceiving). Originally having thought one bite would send my blood sugar through the roof, I am (maybe slightly embarrassed) happy to admit that I could eat the entire cookie in one setting. Luckily, I have self control and an understanding that eating a half pound cookie in one sitting is generally frowned upon so I limit myself and break my indulgence into a few days worth of deliciousness. The best part, however, may be the cookies consistency. Perfectly cooked exterior with a soft and doughy inside. The shop is situated in East End Market and is a modest counter. The cookies are put on display, 5 (I think) flavors at a time and a limit of 6 per customer per day. Lines can be long so try and get there early as they're known to sell out! You might be wondering if Gideon's is worth the hype, and I'm here to tell you it really, really is! After trying (and failing) to visit the one at Disney Springs multiple times, we decided to head to the OG location and we've never looked back! We live about an hour away so we usually only stop by if we're in the area, but the drive is worth it for the cookies alone! If you visit their website, you can pre-order a day in advance, so you're guaranteed to get what you want AND you get to skip the line, which can be quite long on weekends. On to the cookies: all the cookies are soft in the center and very very generous with the fillings. They also happen to be HUGE and very rich. No complaints there! So far, we've tried the original chocolate chip which is DIVINE, the triple chocolate (equally AMAZING), the pistachio one (super!), and a couple of the monthly specials. I don't think we've disliked anything from here! Yet to try the cakes, but they look gorgeous. This Bakery reminded me of the Adam's Family. I saw the really long line and knew it had to be good and worth the wait. I couldn't believe it only took us 20 minutes to grab our delicious treats. This little gem is located inside a food hall. Their cookies are uniquely different from one another, not just in flavor but texture. The Peanut Butter Crunch was our overall favorite. It had the most cookie like texture, and a balance of sweet and salty, plus an added crunch factor. The Chocolate Chip was like a scoop of cookie dough with tons of chocolate inside and even more on the outside.
