IMPORTANT: Martha deals with deep tissue and sciatic issues! And thank God! I came here on emergency with my bestie. Martha gave us same-day appointments. (Of course, this isn't a guarantee that you can always get same-day appointments, but I'm so grateful Martha was able to that day.) The place is small but adorable, and the massage rooms are so cozy and soothing. But the thing I absolutely adored the most about Martha was that she is willing and QUICK to listen to her clients, whether it be their concerns or requests. I told her something was too painful (just due to my sciatic muscle issues of at least six months) and she immediately took a break from the area to focus on something else. She listened to me throughout the whole thing and made sure to consult me about my history and how something felt or if her massage technique was doing what it should. I also have bacne and had leg stubble that I was fairly insecure of--Martha did not care. She worked through them both as if they were not there. I'll have to come back because the muscles are still messed up but it hurt too much to keep going--mind you, though, that's to be expected after being messed up for so long, and I was 50% looser walking out of the place. Bestie said he absolutely enjoyed his massage. While some parts were painful, it turned out it was the only way to get his own relief; now those areas are no longer tight or bothering him! I had booked a massage with Martha for the end of the month. When my shoulder began aching, I called to see if I can get in sooner. Spoke to Martha, who informed me that Cheryl is available in few days and that she is incredible. I booked the 90 minute session and Cheryl did her magic. She concentrated on my shoulder and lower back as I requested. Cheryl has that warm touch which makes you relax. My shoulder felt good after she was done with her magic. I didn't have any of the post massage body pains with Cheryl. What ever her trick is, I need to be back for more since I feel so much better. My 90 minutes went by fast and I wished that I had booked 2 hours. Yep, she's that good! This isn't a fancy shmancy spa. It's clean, relaxed atmosphere and the rooms are calming. This is by far my worst massage ever!!! I bought a Living Social deal for an hour massage ($45). I called and left them two messages. They finally got back to me. I went ahead and booked an earlier appointment; since I knew they would be slammed with this deal. Let me start off by saying that this place is right across the street from Santana Row but don't let this location fool you. This place doesn't even look like a spa. It pretty much looks like you're visiting a doctor's office (wasn't stated on this deal). It didn't set the mood at all. There's no water in the waiting room that I had to ask her for a cup of water. The dinky sized waiting room only fits 4 chairs. There's not a sign outside for "Gifted Hands Massage." So, just make sure you find the suite number when you enter the building. I had Cheryl and she gypped me out of 15 mins. of my massage! Ok, I was 15 mins. late but DAMN! If I knew this I would have rescheduled!!! Also, 80% of the time she massaged me with her elbow. I made so many weird and painful faces due to her digging her elbow into my back. It was definitely uncomfortable! However, she kept saying I was tight and I had a lot of knots to work out. So, I went ahead and let her do her "magic." People must be on crack to give this place such a high review! Maybe I should have requested Martha!!! I will never come back here again!!! read more

Gifted Hands Massage is exceptional. If you can, ask for Martha. She is an amazing talent. My wife and I get massages everytime we go on vacation, and we always wish Martha were doing the massage instead of the person at the hotel. Martha is a gifted masseuse. When we are home in San Jose, she is the one we go to. We have been using her for years! Her hands are so full of life and vitality. She is exceptionally gifted. The thing that makes her so exceptional is that she is in tune with the person she is helping: I've been to other massuers, and it has been painful and even uncomfortable. I got a massage here awhile back by Martha Escamilla and though the environment was beautiful, I'm pretty sure my massage therapist stop to text message several times during my massage. I didn't say anything, because I was referred by a mutual friend, but I really couldn't stand it. I couldn't really relax, because I was debating rather or not to speak up the whole time. I'd take a 15.00 happy foot massage, where they do a bit of the whole body, to this expensive and underwhelming experience, any day! Wow I have to say this was one of the best massages I've had! I got a townhog deal and booked my massage with Martha. I'm a massage addict and used to get massages monthly, so I'd say I'm hard to impress. Martha found all the knots on my back/shoulders and it felt amazing! Overall her pressure was great. I bought a living social deal for a one hour massage. It was worth it. I really enjoyed the massage Martha gave me. The scheduling process was very simple. I left a msg. and received a confirmation call back. This place seems to be a converted home across the street from the Winchester movie theaters. You'll have to look to for the suite number because there is a sign that says Active something or other, not Gifted Hands Massage. When you walk in, if there is no one at the desk, you sit down and fill out an intake form. Martha was great because I came in 30 min early and since she had time, she took me. Usually I would say that the massage I had was roughly 3.5 stars, but due to Martha's customer service it brings my overall experience down from 1.5-2 stars. I got the Gifted Hands GC through LivingSocial, which was fine as the reviews were pretty good. When I got there it was at a house set up for medical type services, and they didn't even have their name on the outside! Should've been my first clue to dodgy. Once I got in, I wasn't greeted even though Martha and receptionist was standing at the desk. They asked me to fill out a form and they moved away to continue their conversation down the hall. I finished and sat for ages waiting for them to come back. Once they did Martha didn't believe that I was there to see her for a massage. She seemed to think she was done for the day and the receptionist had to show her her appts and convince her it was 4pm not 5pm! After that she was a little pissy, setting me up in a room to undress and then didn't come back for ages. Not sure if I got the full time for my massage. After that experience I am never going back there! read more

I have been trying to find a massage therapist for my husband that he would approve of. He always has a complaint about everyone I've tried to take him to, even at the fancy spas....until Martha. It was the best massage he's ever had. He can't stop talking about it and when he can go back. I had a massage from her as well, and she is fantastic. GREAT pressure. Very consistant. Very even. Would HIGHLY recommend her. She is also very nice and concentrated on the parts that you asked her to. It's definitely not a spa type atmosphere, but when you're in the massage room, the rest fades away. She gave me the BEST deep, deep, deep tissue massage ever. She is "the one"!
