I also like that their sheets do not carry scents and the massage table was comfortable. Booking was easy and they always pick up. Parking was easy as there is plenty in the giant Costco plaza. It is right next to Ross. I enjoyed a one hour massage and was comfortable the entire time. My masseuse checked in on pressure and kept things quiet, which I prefer. I've had positive experiences with the massage therapists during my last few visits, they've all been great, and this feedback isn't directed at them. However, each time I've come in, the noise level, especially from the outdoor area has been extremely loud and disruptive. It would really help if doors were kept closed during sessions and if noise was minimized overall. Customers are walking in and out of that common area, so that door should remain closed at all times to avoid noise entering other people's sessons. I've heard loud conversations that felt like people were shouting across the space, cabinets slamming, and even staff walking around on speakerphone speaking loudly. While I was able to somewhat tune it out during previous visits, I recently brought a friend, and he was very unhappy with how noisy it was. People come in expecting a relaxing, and peaceful environment as that's the whole point of getting a massage. Unfortunately, the constant noise made it difficult to fully relax and took away from the overall experience. I hope improvements can be made to keep noise levels down, because a quiet atmosphere truly makes all the difference read more

A small, unassuming massage in a large plaza that shares a parking lot with Costco. You could almost miss this store if you weren't specifically looking for it. The interior is pretty basic but clean. I walked in without high expectations. However, I walked out a new woman! Cindy was my masseuse and she knew exactly how to get ALLLL of my knots out. I dislike "relaxing" massages, I WANT to really feel like the massage is deep and targets my problem areas. Cindy was excellent and I definitely feel like she could've used more strength if she wanted to, but honestly her medium strength was more than enough for me. This is the only Bay Area massage place I keep coming back to. It's a very no frills, not a spa, kind of hole in the wall place but there are some really excellent, expense masseuses here that will get all of your problems out at a reasonable price. read more

What a hidden gem! We visited Massage Zen at the recommendation of a friend and were super pleased with our experience. Based on reviews, we requested Eva and Lulu for a 60-minute deep tissue massage--and boy did they deliver! We've been to at least 20 different massage parlors over the years and it's always hit or miss when it comes to a true "deep" massage, but neither woman was afraid to dig in with full effort. Lulu spent half of the session just working through all my knots and while I'm sore as a result, it's the awesome kind of soreness/release that comes with a massage well done. I wasn't expecting too much given this place is pretty new, but I've experienced chronic back/neck pain for over a decade now and this was probably THE most productive massage I've ever had in a non-physical-therapy setting. Work provides ClassPass to us and I used it for a one-hour Full Body Oil Massage, with Hot Stone at 10 AM. I was greeted by some nice ladies who were confused that I had an appointment for this and were even confused about which service I had ordered. It seems that ClassPass does not communicate with the business. Either way, I was quickly seen to a room and given a one hour massage with Eva. She checked in with me throughout the process but wasn't the talking type. She let me relax in silence. I haven't had a massage before but this was a good experience. The room was pretty bare but clean with some soft music playing. It started as a warm up back massage under the sheets into an oiled back massage. She used a lot of palm and forearm with a good amount of pressure and checked in periodically if I was okay. About 20 minutes was this oil massage, followed by 10 minutes of hot rock which was quite a nice experience. It then went into 7ish minutes of leg massage, 7 minutes of the back of the arm massage, flipping me, then doing chest, legs, head and scalp, then ending with cracking my toes. All of this was a good experience. I would consider going to again at the discounted rate. read more

unbelievably unprofessional. I booked an appointment for 10am on Tuesday the 14th and showed up late at 10:07am. I had tried calling on my way to inform them that I was going to be late but the phone just kept ringing. I get there and the lady informs me that they gave my appointment to a walk in.. she asked if I could wait while she called her boss to get someone in to do my massage.. and then when I let her know I had tried to call she said she was barely logging onto their phone since they had just opened. I don't understand why they didn't call or check their phones also as to why there was no type of grace period. 4.5 stars from me. I was very hesitant to try this place, since there's only one other review (and it was 2 star!), but it's my birthday and I had no plans for the afternoon, and they had an opening. Right now, it's 30% off, so I got this $100 service for $70: "Full Body Hot Stone and Essential Oil Massage: In private beautiful decorated room, enjoy the glide and smooth of essential oil nourishing skin during massage, with hot stone heat treatment." My masseuse was Ping, and she got to business. This was one of the best massages I've ever had, but I can't go full five stars because the hot stones were used for maybe 3 minutes total? She did start with a hot moist towel, and then used it again (heated each time) to scrub every area she had massaged with the oil. Felt like a good exfoliation. ;) The rooms are fine - a little bland but hey, you're not there to look around at the decor. You could hear noise from the lobby though, so it wasn't fully zen. ;) This pricing was quite fair given the location and ambience, and there are some times when you just want a massage and don't need all the frills of a day spa. Finally decided to give this massage place a try after driving past it every week when I go grocery shopping in this plaza. I called to make an appointment on the phone the day of and it was very easy with lots of availability. As soon as you enter the reception area is very spacious and clean. I was checked in quickly and was asked to pay prior to getting the massage. My masseuse name was Eva and holy cow she was good. I needed a good massage after a long day at work and I just happened to pass by this place so I decided to check it out. The front desk/lounge area looked gorgeous and was very aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. The front desk helper was very friendly and showed me to my room and instructed what I needed to do before my masseuse came in. I got settled and my masseuse knocked before entering and welcomed me to the room and started the massage. She would ask how the pressure was here and there and it all felt really nice. Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience There was a massive language barrier with the therapist--she could not understand even very basic English. Because of this, it was impossible to communicate essential things like "please lower the room temperature" or "do not massage an injured area of my back". Those are not optional preferences; they are basic, safety-related instructions. I even tried to ask what to expect from the massage since it was my first deep tissue massage, and they simply did not understand the question at all. There was no explanation, no reassurance, and no attempt to bridge the communication gap in any meaningful way. As a result, the massage was completely ineffective. My primary goal was never met because I simply could not communicate it. A "deep tissue" massage is pointless if the therapist cannot understand feedback or boundaries. To make matters worse, the front desk was equally unhelpful and unprofessional. Despite the poor experience, they had the audacity to pressure me for a much larger tip than I was already generously offering. Tipping is meant to reward good service--not to be demanded after a bad one. Overall, this place lacks basic communication skills, customer service, and professionalism. I left frustrated, uncomfortable, and feeling like my time and money were wasted. My masseuse was Cindy and she did a great job getting the knots out of my back. She had strong hands, yet was also gentle. I appreciate that they take Venmo for both the massage and tips. Unfortunately the establishment itself wasn't pleasing to me. It smelled like an old dirty rag and there was no calming vibe. There are a couple other small massage places that I really love which are so peaceful and calming to all of the senses. I am going to stick to one of these. Decided to try this place since it's close by and had relatively good reviews. The place itself is decent, it's clean and staff is friendly. Now the massage - painful. My masseuse did check in with me a few times regarding her pressure, even after asking her to lighten up, I don't think it made a difference. Either she is very strong or maybe there was a language barrier issue. Truthfully I should have probably asked her to stop but I wanted to give her a chance. We had a couples massage for $140 Hot stone and oil massage for one hour They have add ons available for an extra fee if you need more. Lulu and Rose were very courteous and friendly. They really worked on the knots on ku shoulders. I suggest bringing a sweater for after because I forgot my sweater in the car and when we walked out I could feel the cold air hit me and I ended up tense on that side. Because the massage is hot and it leaves your muscles tender So stay warm afterwards! Hydrate before going because you'll sweat. My husband and I loved the experience. If it's been a while since you've had a massage and you feel like you REALLY need a massage, then I suggest getting 90 minutes. We regret not doing 90 minutes. We hadn't gotten a massage in a year. Book an appointment before going because we had tried doing a walk in several times before and there were no openings. Sundays tend to be the busiest days to go and holiday weekends especially. I wanted to try Massage Zen because my sister had a good experience with Eva. I made an appointment over the phone and requested to schedule with Eva at the earliest available time, preferably early in the morning. The lady on the phone scheduled me for 9:00 am. I arrived on time; the door was open, and music was playing, but there was nobody at the front desk. I waited a few minutes and then called them, but no one answered. I knocked on the door and walked through the hallway where there were a few massage rooms. I called again, and still, no one answered. I also tried the number on their business card, but I only got the voicemail saying they were with a customer. Finally, at 9:15, I decided to leave. While sitting in my car, I saw a lady enter the building. I thought she was Eva and, despite her being late, I assumed I could still have my massage. I went back inside, but she wasn't Eva. She went into a room and made a call. To my surprise, another lady came out, looking like she had just woken up. I told her I had an appointment at 9:00 am, that I had arrived on time, and that I had called multiple times without an answer, even though someone was inside. She told me they don't open until 10:00 am. I asked why they had scheduled me for 9:00 am if that was the case. I then asked if Eva was coming, but she said no and offered to give me a massage herself. I ended up giving them two stars, Because my goal in leaving reviews is not just to complain or bring down a business but to help the company improve if they want to stay in business and grow. .
