I've been here about FIVE TIMES and usually enjoy the massages, but this last visit left me feeling UNCOMFORTABLE. (On my first visit I didn't know about the punch card) I normally tip around 20% or sometimes a little more--for example, for a $73 one-hour combo I tip at least $15, and for a $108 90-minute session I usually tip at least $20-21. This time I did a 90-minute massage ($103) and tipped $21, which is about 20%. However, the masseuse counted the bills in front of me and the receptionist "suggested" I should tip $25 instead. Being pressured to tip more than 20% made me feel very UNCOMFORTABLE, especially since I've always tipped fairly. The focus seems to have shifted from service to aggressively pushing for tips. During my last 90-minute session, I tipped $21, but was told I needed to pay $25+ and was pressured to put it on my card since I didn't have extra cash. This left a very sour taste, especially since a similar incident happened before when another masseuse demanded a $30 tip on my massues's behalf and even commented in another language, which felt very unprofessional and uncomfortable. Just like other reviewers they literally count the bills in front of you making you feel uncomfortable. Tip is an add not a RULE and i understand the massuses get some of their income on tips but this is outright tipping mafia over here :P To make matters worse, there's even a chart posted at the front desk outlining the "expected" tip amounts. This approach takes away from what used to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. I stumbled upon Clover Foot Massage on a random Thursday evening and was pleasantly surprised. The lady at the front desk who may have been the owner was very understanding of my exact needs and was ready to accommodate that, which I thought was a fantastic sign. It's rare to see that kind of involvement! I was redirected to another lady who took care of me. There was a bit of gap in communication but I had to reiterate my needs (pressure level etc) but ultimately the massage was wonderful, and I could tell she really cared about the experience. I know that is high for most people but if you look at what most massage places cost it's still a deal for a hour. I REALLY love the ambience and professionalism here. I've gone by myself a few times and with my husband for a couples massage twice. I've been happy with my massages every time. I've gotten massages pretty regularly for the last 8 years but they've gotten really expensive and the spa at my gym doesn't have afternoon appointments available very often, so when Clover opened up I was interested and checked them out. Every massage therapist has been very skilled and professional. It's pretty and peaceful and calm inside. No creepy people or vibes. Costs $70 for 60 minutes vs $105 for 50 minutes at other places. The only drawback is that most of the therapists are not fluent in English, but at the front desk they give you a card and you can indicate the amount of pressure you prefer, and any parts of your body that you need worked on or don't want touched (you circle or cross them out on a drawing) and the front desk will communicate anything you need them to upfront. read more

Tl;dr: massage is okay - not really full body. Big issue is that they're going to practically follow you out the door if you don't give them their expected tip. Don't come here. I went in for a one hour combo massage. What they say that means is 30 minutes feet, 30 minutes body. They expect payment up front, so I paid my $70, cash. They had me circle where I wanted the most attention, a pressure, any additives. I selected medium and I circled neck and shoulders but I didn't expect that they would only massage that area... So the first portion you start out in the large room, you go back and lay in the middle of the room on the massage table/bed which are lined up in two rows. The woman who was my masseuse gave me basket for my shoes, told me to lay down, covered me with a blanket and then she left and came back a few minutes later with a bucket of hot water to put my feet in. I did that, she massaged my face and head while my feet soaked. That took half the time there, it was nice I guess but I did come for my aching legs and feet. She then did the foot portion, that again was okay but felt rushed and she only really massaged my feet a little before we moved on to the private area. In the private area, it's right off the big center room and it's closed only by a curtain. She indicated I should undress and get under the blanket, which I did. When she came back she began to massage over the blanket, then did my upper back and neck. It went by super quick, she paid no attention to arms, legs, lower back etc and then she just stopped and said okay get dressed. Okay whatever, you get what you pay for I guess. But the real kicker is when I went out the door after getting dressed to the main reception, the receptionist gave me tea and was like cash tip? I handed her $10 (regret, so much) and she was like umm no it needs to be at least $30. I was like excuse me? She repeated and then suggested at least 20 was mandatory. I was so put off at that point that I told her I only have $10. So what did she do? She said maybe you have more in the car?? I was like umm let me check. I walked out and she literally followed me and propped the door open. I am lucky someone was waiting for me outside my car or I would bet she would have gone all the way there with me. Went back and gave her a couple more dollars which I regret. Not great service and then they try to shake you down. That's an awful business practice, and in that case at least advertise your prices as hire if you expect a $30 "tip". I would never go back and I advise you never to come here. read more

Coco and Jimmy ended up assisting us and the massage itself wasn't terrible, although it definitely wasn't the best I've had either. The work on my back was decent however, the rest of the massage felt incomplete. My arms and legs were noticeably neglected, which made the overall treatment feel unbalanced and rushed. What really soured the experience was the tipping situation. After our massages, Coco strongly pressured both me and my friend to leave a higher tip than what was already provided. It made for an uncomfortable and awkward situation, which was a big letdown. If we were fully satisfied with the service we would have happily provided a 20% tip, but to be confronted and pressured into tipping more when that wasn't the case is absurd and extremely unprofessional. read more

This is a note to management to please consider warming up the facility a little before you open and asking your therapists to warm up their hands before they start for the day. I was abruptly told that sessions over when other areas weren't tended to. What made it worse was what happened afterward. We were getting ready to leave after leaving a tip. Coco aggressively demanded a tip of over 20% from both of us separately and refused to take what we thought was already a gracious tip considering the fact it was a poor experience. She wouldn't let us leave until we paid what met her wants--despite the fact that we were clearly unhappy with the service. Michelle greeted me right away and took care of payment since I was 15 minutes early. I thought I'd wait until my appointment time, but Jimmy was ready to take me back and start my massage. They offered a handy basket to store my purse, shoes, sweater, etc. While my feet soaked in hot water, Jimmy started the massage with my face, head, shoulders, arms, hands, then my feet. Next my legs and then my back. My entire body is super relaxed. Jimmy used deep pressure points, but always checked in if it was alright. If you prefer deep tissue massage, Jimmy's your guy. I was so excited to try this spot, as it's been a while since I've treated myself to a massage. When I walked in the receptionist was very welcoming. I asked for the combo massage and Iris was my masseuse. She was nice, but the massage felt very rushed and rough. For the feet, most of the time she was using her knuckles to knead rather than massage. It was fast so the relaxing element was just not there. When she got to my back, she used her elbow and knuckles a lot which was not very pleasant. A majority of the time she was pressing on my back too, it was like 20% of the time was actual massaging. Friend and I were able to make a same day appointment, 90 minutes each. Since my massus didn't speak English (Angela) I explained to the receptionist exactly what needed focused on, specifically 10 minutes per arm and 10 minutes on thighs (out of the 90 minute session). The receptionist relayed the information to the wrong massus! And when Angela said she was done with the massage I asked for the receptionist and she just said sorry that she told relayed the informationto the wrong massus. That is NOT acceptable. The correct answer should have been how can we fix this! Since you pay in advance, there was no fixing. You're stuck and the business or receptionist should have made things right.
