The Hayloft At Hobbs Tavern - Onion Rings

You can easily miss the Hayloft at Hobbs Tavern if you aren't looking for it. My family and I came…read moreto Hobbs Tavern for dinner. It was our first time here and the wait was over 20 minutes long (they don't take reservations even though website says to call for reservations). Next to the main entrance is the entryway to the Hayloft. I walked in to check it out and as there was no wait, the fam decided to try it out instead. The place looks very new and has a cool "hang out" feel to it. I can see 20 something year olds coming and hanging out on the comfy chairs and just relaxing with food and drinks. There is even a fusball table to pass the time. This is a seat yourself kind of place - but that means the waitstaff has extra work on their hands. We waited a bit to order - but the kids passed the time on their phones. The menu is very limited. They warn you as such at the entrance. Pretty much pizza and wings only. But they do have a few apps. We got the onion rings and focaccia baskets and they came in very large very shareable baskets. The onions rings were fried perfectly. Nice and crispy and not too oily. The focaccia bread sticks were ok. They could have used some garlic butter or something on them. The dipping sauce was plain canned tomato sauce - which would have actually paired the focaccia well IF the focaccia has some oil and seasonings on it. Focaccia texture was good though - but not something I would order again. We didn't finish the basket The main highlight was the personally sized pizzas. It is hard to find a place that makes personal sized pizzas. I got the Hot Bianca and it was spicy deliciousness. The boys got meatlovers and the chicken ranch and loved them as well. I honestly have no idea why this place only has three stars. Though when surveying the fam they pointed out that they are used to thin crust pizza, and this pizza is on the thicker side. So if you like thin crust pizza, this may not be the place for you.

There were probably only five other people there when we walked in. By the time we left, it was fairly full. We tried a trifecta of the maple bourbon wings, bacon chicken ranch pizza, and Caesar salad after ordering adult beverages. Our food was absolutely terrific! We truly enjoyed it! Their beer isn't half bad either! Truly enjoy the rustic charm of the hayloft! Keep up the great work! Looking forward to our next visit.

I last reviewed Indian Mound Pizza in 2017, and gave it four stars, downgrading it from five only…read morebecause of its small storefront seating accommodations. The pizza was excellent at that time. My wife and I have since seen it slide quite seriously in a number of areas since. Our most recent takeout pizza experience has prompted me to write an update. Our most recent pizza takeout order was for a large pizza, topped with mushrooms, tomatoes, and spinach. It was prepared very promptly, and was ready for pickup in 15 minutes from the time we placed our telephone order. The crust was simply okay; it was certainly not the memorable crust as in former years, being rubbery and tasteless, and not the knockout Neopolitan recipe that I savored during my last review. The cheese was similarly rubbery and tasteless, not the wonderful stringy texture, mouthfeel, and creaminess of good mozzarella, as before. The tomato sauce was quite bland, almost tasteless. Arguably, my remarks thusfar are entirely subjective, based on my personal taste. You may take away a different experience. But, what prompted this review is a different matter entirely, as objective as the money that I peeled from my wallet for the toppings that I ordered. As mentioned earlier, I ordered three toppings: mushrooms, tomatoes, and spinach. This paints a mental picture of a pizza dazzling with bright red tomato slices amidst a field of earthy mushrooms and green spinach. Put that thought away. Toppings are each individually paid for; they accumulate on top individually. Three toppings does not mean one-third amounts of each topping, unless of course the customer and shopkeeper agree to split one topping price for three items. Very, very few tiny, tasteless canned mushrooms were to be found, and they were entirely inconsequential. Ca-ching $2.00. The largest of the 15 slivers of tomato measured 3/8" x 1-1/2", or about 2/3 of a slice. Most were smaller. Ca-ching $2.00. The paltry samples tasted quite good, but I paid for a whole tomato. Spinach is one of God's most economical veggies too. Ten cups of leaves to the pound. A half cup would make an earthy, tasty, lovely green statement on a large pizza, and make plenty of profit for the proprietor. We got five leaves on the entire pizza. Ca-ching $2.00. So, what we got for $23.84 ( including tax) was a rubbery, tasteless pizza, with an imagining of toppings. I once raved about a pizza that is no longer offered at Indian Mound. But wait! They offer many varieties now. In recent months, they've served up overcooked and undercooked, and if you hit it right, just half the amount of rubbery tasteless cheese. I was extremely disgusted to see the dishwasher with his mane of dark curly hair, with no head covering, loitering in the food preparation area last evening. The cashier thought nothing of it and made excuses. Yuck! Hairy extra toppings I don't wish to conceive of. This is the last review that I'll ever do regarding Indian Mound Pizza because I'll have no means to assess their product in the future.

This place comes closer to a good pizza than others in the area. Nice fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. Dough was nice and fresh with a nice crust. Reminded me of the pizza place my uncle owned while growing up. We ordered a cheese and a pepperoni and we loved both pies. It is a nice pizza shop that also has subs, calzones and salads. It's a nice little shop with very friendly employees. My hubby enjoyed bantering back and forth with the girls working the day we visited. Came out the door laughing. We enjoyed the pizzas and this will be our go-to place from now on! Thank you

It had a good crisp crust. The slices though, couldn't hold the weight of the toppings, which were moderately spread about the pizza causing half the toppings to slide off. Upon biting into the slice it was immediately noted that it was grossly salty. Near inedbile. After inspection, I determined that the sausage was the insulting culprit. The sausage has to be picked off to eat f to he remaining slices. I would try again to see if the sausage was just a salty batch.
