I made an appointment a week out for noon for a leaky toilet, at 1250 I called and asked if they were still coming, the lady was curt and said "yes just wait he is 20 min away". When he showed he was there less than 10 minutes and said the tank needs a washer, he didn't have it but he would be back at 3pm (the next day) to repair and left. He never showed and we never heard from the company again, we moved on. Avoid at all costs! read more

I was given the name and number for this business by members of a Facebook group. They showed up without letting me know, way too early, and treated me the way men treat any older woman. Probably worse, as the house in question is in need of a ton of remediation. Asked for almost $800 for the work, could not give me the type of faucet I needed, didn't check the disposal to see if it was the switch. I'm sorry, but I've already done the disposal--it cost maybe a couple hundred. Seriously -- the parts for this would have been maybe $100. Got a new water heater installed last year (not by them) for only $1000. Something wrong with this picture. read more

There was water leaking from within the walls of my home. It was a Sunday morning and I was in a panic. I resorted to Yelp for any open plumbers with decent reviews. After calling 3 plumbers I came across Gilbert plumbing. The receptionist was friendly and got back to me within 5 minutes to let me know someone was on their way to my home. The plumber arrived and immediately started looking for the leaking pipe. After 15-20 minutes, he was able to dentist it and replace it. Mind you, the leak was coming from a pipe within the walls and he found it ! This goes to show their expertise. I am very appreciative that they were able to fix the leakage. We've used these guys a few times for standard stuff and they worked out fine. When it came to honoring their warrantee this time around, they just said no. We had Joe to the first service and with his sales pitch he said there's a 60 day warrantee to come back and snake as often as it's clogged within that time period, for free. The second time they came out, my wife was talked out of the free snake and ended up paying another $150 for Mario to run a camera. By the way, everything is always 30-40% off with these guys, so don't think you're getting a special deal. Today, the third time they came out within a month, Mario tried to charge us half price from the discounted price. After 25 minutes of explaining to him the simple concept of 60 day unlimited snake warrantee and 3 calls to Gilbert, he agreed to snake it one more time for free and then he will end the warrantee ahead of schedule. Also, I don't know if it was an honest mistake or not, Joe backdated the original receipt one month. This was one of the arguments Mario tried to use at first saying that there was only a few more days left on the warrantee instead of a month. Mario tried to explain that Joe misrepresented the warrantee and they weren't responsible for his mistake. I've never dealt with a completely honest plumbing company. Roto Rooter is actually worse. If there actually is one in the South Bay, I'd like to know. read more

Did Gloria give a plumber my message? Who knows! But, no one ever called me back and now that I've seen that video of one of their drivers flipping someone off in the cross walk while driving one of their trucks on company time, I'm glad that they didn't call back. I wouldn't want to deal with a company that has someone so ignorant working for them. That driver represents Gilbert Plumbing and appears to anger easily. I've been working Gilbert Plumbing for over a year now. They have done numerous jobs for me ranging from snaking a bathroom sink to replacing sewer lines ten feet under hills of dirt. These guys are GREAT! I am always happy to call their office and speak to the dispatchers. Gloria, Maria, and Laura are all pleasant to talk to and so quick to set up appointments! They keep you apprised every step of the way and work with you on pricing (not that you need to, they have been the MOST reasonably priced plumbers I've come across in my several years in property management.) The plumbers themselves are timely, polite, and happy to explain to you whatever you would like or need to know about your plumbing situation. The owner, Gilbert, is a great businessman and truly works hard to earn your business. He doesn't try to oversell plumbing repairs or push additional work. A rare trait in plumbers! Ulysses came out promptly to fix and replace my sink with the faucet he already had with him and let me know that unfortunately he could not fix it today because my management company required me to have a cheaper faucet. I have been a customer of Gilbert's Plumbing for 4 years now and they never disappoint. From Maria and Gloria in customer service to the owner Gilbert, they are courteous, reliable, and professional. Gloria even gave me Gilbert's cellphone number without me asking for it, so I could get an answer to a technical question about toilet flanges, which saved me a lot of wasted time and money. The plumbers, who have come to work at my home the past two times, are exceptional. Not only do George and Juan arrive on time, they work hard, are patient and courteous with my questions, and are experts at plumbing. George replaced my toilet's old closet flange, which probably was an original part that came with this nearly 70-year old house! Juan replaced my disposal, which was all rusty and old. Not easy jobs. For free George installed a shower head with hose and twisted on a faucet head on my sink, saving me inordinate time and frustration, all thumbs that I am! Our management company JRealty also uses them and I am sure they do fine work. However I have to say that I had to hire an independent licensed plumber to handle three plumbing situations. The Gilbert Plumbing quote threw me way off. I understand capitalism and people have to make their money. However my plumber, who I've used several times before, did the same work, a little more (that he recognized needed to be dealt with), and did not do unnecessary work, for almost a third of the total quote Gilbert Plumbing provided. One could argue that different plumbers will assess the work needed to be done from different points of view and potentially with different quality parts. However the itemized breakdown of the work to be done was still incredibly cheaper with my licensed plumber and he doesn't use the worst parts that can be had. The work was thorough and complete. We gave a healthy bonus of course for being expedient, thorough and handling things I wasn't aware of. Perhaps Gilbert has more overhead costs, but the numbers just didn't make sense and during pandemic times it was even more of a shock. They've done work for me before and it was still high, yet more reasonable in price, but now I have to reconsider who will do the work in the future. read more

I called My Plumbing doctor based on the Yelp reviews to investigate the sewage smell that was coming from below our house. James was sent out, had a look, and declared that despite this "25 years of plumbing," he had no idea what was going on. While he was here, we had to suffer his repeated referrals to "beaners" and "faggots." After he left, I called to speak to Warren, the owner, and he said that unless there were undetectable microcracks in a pipe, he couldn't explain the foul smell either. The situation worsened, and soon the ground under the house was soaked; soon after, it became a lake. Last night, Saturday, (at week-end and nighttime rates) Gilbert's Plumbing came out and with much testing, determined that the problem lay with the main sewer pipe. They sent a camera down and found multiple root-choked breaks. Currently, they are digging it up with plans to replace it. Why couldn't My Plumbing Doctor figure that out? Maybe they're good for minor repairs, toilets overflowing, the drain from the toilet backed up. But don't call them for anything more. Meanwhile, kudos to Gilbert Plumbing on Hawthorne! read more

Horrible service! I called the dispatcher with a main line blockage and informed the dispatcher several times that the clean out was on the roof. The dispatcher told me that was no problem. After waiting for him to arrive (with no working toilet and 2 kids with the stomach flu) he informed me that he couldn't go the roof. Gilbert was the plumber I would turn to for drain problems but I have moved on. Less than a month ago, they came out and did my main line due to toilet overflowing into tub. Happened again and was told to do main line when no blockage up front is a dummy clean out. So why was it done the first time. The problem were in the portion of the line to the toilets. 260 to run the snake under the toilet. Seemed like this young plumber tried to talk me out of what I needed because of reported mess it would trigger. Actually, there was no mess, some water but no waste. After the job was done, the plumber indicated a screw was missing from toilet so now it moves. No attempt to replace the screw/nut which should be a courtesy when 260 was paid for a 30 minute job. By the way, screw was there before he removed it, toilet was installed this summer and worked fine. Also, I was actually asked for a plunger which should be a part of the equipment on truck. Yeah, probably need to replace my line but think I will go with someone else. read more
