Hello my name is Sochy Calles Castillo, I wanted to reach out because my dad was detained yesterday at the circle k on Lindsay and Baseline. He was blocked in by undercover officers who asked him to walk to towards them and then he was handcuffed, following that they began a search on his truck and dismantled his truck and even had a dog search it. All of this was done on the basis that someone had just been arrested and gave out a description that fit my dads truck. He was let go but he was detained there for about 2 hours all for it to not be him and of course they found nothing. Then a female officer said "we and the dog didn't find anything, we hope to not detain you like this again" As if my dad was this big drug lord, when he's just a landscaper who was just getting off the phone with my to go heat up his lunch, he has diabetes and after the whole situation his blood pressure and blood sugar were high. This behavior just seems odd and uncalled for. Then we went to the Police station the lady was very quick to try and dismiss me with the usual "I dont know everything" before even letting me explain the situation or express my questions... i even started with "I dont know who to go to, so im hoping you can direct me to the right person" She gave me so much uncalled attitude and was no help. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with the response I received from the Gilbert Police Department after a frightening road rage incident on Sunday, April 26. My grandson and I were in the Fry's parking lot at Baseline and Gilbert when a man aggressively pulled in front of us and nearly caused a collision. I honked my horn to avoid being hit--something any reasonable driver would do. Instead of correcting his behavior, the driver stopped his car, began yelling, got out, flipped us off, and made threatening gestures toward both me and my grandchild. He then sped off recklessly, even hitting a curb as he exited. I immediately contacted the police and provided a license plate number along with a description of the individual. The officer's response was shocking. Rather than addressing the dangerous and threatening behavior, I was told that in the future I should avoid honking my horn because "it can make people angry." That advice shifts responsibility away from the aggressor and onto the victim, which is completely unacceptable. I was also told that there was little they could do because the vehicle was registered to a woman--despite the fact that someone else was clearly driving. No effort to contact the owner, no indication of follow-up, and no reassurance that this dangerous individual would be addressed. This kind of response does not inspire confidence in public safety. When someone is behaving aggressively and threatening others in broad daylight, especially around families, there should be accountability. Instead, it felt like the situation was dismissed entirely. I expected better from a department tasked with protecting the community. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling unsupported and concerned that it may take someone getting seriously hurt before action is taken. read more

I just wanted to take a moment to thank the officers who checked on our home today. We're in the middle of moving into the neighborhood with a newborn and several pets, and my partner accidentally left the door open all day. The police department followed up to make sure everything was okay, and that small act of care gave me such a sense of relief and safety. Moving has been a bit overwhelming, but knowing that our local officers are looking out for the community means so much. Gilbert PD can be okay, but some can also abuse their powers. Such as pulling someone over for having their lights off before the sun fully set and then trapping them there for hours as they scan your insurance and think of other ways to cite you. Also, the way they handled the Gilbert Goon situation was sad. I'm all for police-- just ones that follow their job. read more

On September 17th, someone called to say a car was abandoned while it was in front of my daughters garage door in Gilbert. It was my granddaughter, who is a single Mom, goes to school full-time and works full-time, who had my car parked there to retrieve food to hold her and my great granddaughter over for a few days. Gilbert PD called Axle towing & impound to tow the car and never knocked on our door. The next day I had to pay $306, the car was dented and the money I had in the car was completely gone. This past Easter Sunday, out for an evening stroll through our neighborhood with my girl friend, on my new dirtbike (she is on her own electric pedal bike, im following behind her) approximate speed 10mph. Cop passes us 3 different times before lighting us up. I stop, end up getting a $2600 ticket. Keep in mind im 19. This cop just effectively ruined my life. read more

Sergeant Matthew O'Hair could definitely benefit from additional training. In speaking with him last week in reference to my child who was assaulted by her own father, this man could care less as he sat on the opposite side of the table with his pompous self righteous demeanor. When a person is requesting someone who holds a title of authority it is usually for a good reason. The officer who apparently went to this persons house left with a preconceived idea of myself (mother) which he received from the father, of which the father gave his own narrative. Unfortunately, the child was asked if she was okay and she apparently said yes(while in front of a man she is now terrified of). My child has patches of hair missing and we just took her glasses to be fixed, as the optometrist kept asking "Wow, did someone sit or step on these glasses?" This man absolutely lost it with our teen. There are good moms and dads, however some folks should not have children in their care until they get HELP! Children are being killed and abused everyday by way of their own parents. Police can make a difference by pulling the child aside, not telling them "It's okay for your dad to grab you?' Grab was definitely an understatement. I think Gilbert PD can do better. I will say that both front desk ladies were very nice and helpful. read more

My brother was arrested. The police lost his wallet, when we went back the next morning to inquire about it, the geriatric at the front desk became confused and openly hostile towards me. She ended up yelling at me and telling me to go sit down. Then yelled, "Yeah! I can say that!" All because I pointed out it was confusing to her that Gilbert PD arrested someone in Mesa. Unprofessional is an understatement. Maybe hire someone whos not confused and staring blankly when her questions are answered, and who can control her temper with people going through a tough time. ​ read more

Entrapped me into a dui. Pulled me over as I was pulling out of a bar parking lot. Deleted all body cam, vehicle location data, and vehicle camera footage from shortly before the incident start to the time it was over. My attorney was "friends" with the prosecutor and when I got into an argument with my attorney he made sure the prosecutor screwed me good in court. Lost my job, did 30 days in jail, had to complete hundreds of hours of community service, classes, counseling, and paid over $20k in fines. I now need to get my police report in order to get a job and I'm told it takes 4 weeks to print a single piece of paper. This whole department is a joke. read more

I have always been pro for Gilbert Police department. With Gilbert Goons and now personal issue, I can no longer defend them. My kids and nephew from out of town, went to champions Friday night. Having fun and security guards took out a patron with problems. They bumped my nephew and he told them to chill. Next thing everyone knows, he is thrown down on ground choked and tried to remove their hands so he can breathe, another guard stepped on his leg and broke it. Taken outside. Witnesses gallore and witness video and interviewed. More police called. Finally got report. Says nephew assaulted him security pressing charges. and no witnesess interviewed. Disputing lies and report and owner says inside video broke. How does this happen? Now they are afraid to come back to Arizona. Insanity. read more

Great job Gilbert PD, we had a group of kids on mini bikes and a small side by side tearing up one of the common areas by the Carol Ray Elementary School, one person called 911 and not a single officer showed up. This is an ongoing problem in our neighborhood, kids and teens doing wheelies in the streets on unlicensed motorcycles and mini bikes. At some point we are going to have an accident involving one of them and a car and pedestrian, hopefully not but the lack of response by the PD is concerning. read more

I've been racially profiled multiple times. I've only needed police assistance a handful of times but they refused to help every single time. I got pulled over at 17 years old and the police officer was yelling in my face and pounding his fists on my car before he stole my license plate. (Removed it from my car and took it with him telling me "if you get pulled over, oh well.") Gilbert police officer accused me of DUI, a charge that did not stick, stole all of my medication, and extracted my blood without my permission. I told him that I did not want any needles in me but he said he was going to do it anyway and proceeded. read more

Was involved in a domestic violence incident where my male roommate beat me up but because him and his wife made up a story that was exactly the same and mine was different the police believed them over me and I was charged, even though I was the one with visible injuries. I tried to press charges and the told me I couldn't. Well guess what I now have a concussion from being beat the fuck up, and have had dr visits after Dr visits. Yall suck ass. read more

BIG SHOUT OUT to the amazing Gilbert Poilce Department!! Sunday 10/16 at 10:30 pm I was still awake and heard a loud noise from the front of my home. I turned on exterior lights then checked my Ring camera to see 2 guys trying to break my front door security screen. When the Ring light came on they ran away. I called the police and the dispatcher stayed with me on the phone until 3 officers arrived. These officers did a full property sweep then reviewed the Ring video. Turns out there were several other police cars responding by searching the general area. The officers in my home shared a description of one of the guys with the police cruising the neighborhood. The guys were found and arrested!!! This took all of 30 minutes since the incident occurred. The Gilbert Police department is exceptional!!! I am so grateful!!! Thank you Gilbert Police! read more

Gilbert Police is useful for helping you with anything your neighbor can help you with.... Walking a crossed the street. Clearing your house cuz you left the door open and think there's an "intruder." Pulling you over and keeping you for hours at a time to write you a simple traffic ticket. They also LOOOVE riding their bikes in the middle of the road in Downtown Gilbert.... When there's a bike lane. Make a comment on them in the middle of the ROAD boom following too close to a bicycle. Ticket. Want to press charges on someone who vandalized your vehicle. Contact Gilbert PD and wait for a "call back" which will never come read more

I just want to say a huge thank you to the gilbert police department. this morning while on my way to work, my car decided to turn off on me. as I was awaiting help on the side of the road, two police officers came to help me investigate the issue. after coming to the conclusion that I'd probably need to take it to a mechanic, they helped me push my car off of the road and into a safer spot. they could have just simply driven by and assumed that someone else would come along and help. thank you so much for your kind acts of service, it does not go unnoticed. read more

Follow through is as slow as water running in a desert creek. Fairness of investigating incidents is non-existent. These officers allowed someone who stole my son's bike 7 entire days to come up with reasons as to why the bike is his and NEVER even spoke with the boy's parents - EVEN AFTER the boy lied and said he had the bike for 10 years. The bike isn't even 10 years old. Great way to demonstrate racial equality and to teach children and teenagers to trust you! NOT! I will definitely be teaching my son that he can only depend on himself because the ones who are supposed to care clearly do not. But I'm sure you see Black children as irrelevant anyway. I ran out of my house today terrified after finding the access panel to the attic proped open and immediately called the Gilbert PD. There was a team at my house within minutes. They said it was likely the storms the night before that popped it open but still did a complete search of the house including the attic. They were extremely kind and I am beyond grateful how quickly they came and addressed the situation. Thankfully, there was no one in the home. I feel much safer knowing that they can be there so quickly should a need ever arise. read more

I've lived in Gilbert for 20 years and have nothing but the Highest respect for the Gilbert Police Department. Yes, I've received two traffic tickets over the years. Yes, I was deserving of both. Each time pulled over the Gilbert Police have been nothing but courteous & professional. These men and woman have dedicated themselves to keeping our town safe. Please don't give a law enforcement officer or their department a negative review for doing the job we expect of them. Gilbert Police you're awesome! Thank you for keeping our town safe and lawful. As for the general public... respect is a two way street. These law enforcement professionals want to go home to their families. When pulled over... show some respect. Comply and don't shove a cell phone in an officer's face in order to provoke. It's not the way you would want to be treated. read more

You guys just harassed my roommate who was on his way home from work. Police SUV pulled up to the curb and stopped him as he was literally walking in the front door because he was "wearing all black"....?? My roommate works at Safeway, that is their uniform.... after showing his Safeway name tag the cop still took his ID and questioned him, and my other roommate who went out to check in him, for a good 10 - 15 minutes. Just love having my tax dollars put toward being harassed on the lawn of my own home! Great work guys. read more

Dispatcher was rude, interrupted my 911 call the entire time I was trying to explain, raised her voice to talk over me even. Very unprofessional! Police never responded to our call, and when I called the non emergency number to follow up today, the supervisor i spoke with also spoke over me and interrupted me. If I could give a negative star I would. This is the worst police department which is so unfortunate. It has been sad to see a department sink. I have a child who Gilbert PD does not like and therefore continues to harass and pull my child over anxious to arrest. When there is nothing to arrest on they try to instigate to get my child to react. There was a major incident at the beginning of the year where my child was harmed and that case stays open, but they will continue to try to arrest and cause court issues for my child rather than try to find the person who caused harm. I am grateful I have found someone to assist with filing certain things against this department and hope for some sort of change. I am aware Gilbert does not handle real crime, such as the surrounding cities but when crime happens they should atleast be trained well enough to know how to handle it. Do not live in Gilbert if safety and the police department is your priority. They are to focused on who is sleeping with who within their department. read more

I'm disgusted with the lack of service I received from this dept while trying to locate the body of my dog. I spent over 6 hours on the phone and nobody really gave a $#!+ despite the fact that they are the PD the so lovingly double bagged my dog after being hit by a car. It's bad enough losing a pet and Gilbert PD just adds insult to injury. I'm so grateful that I moved away from their jurisdiction. I had a situation occur where calling the non-emergency police line seemed appropriate. They showed up in literally less than five minutes, and the person who talked to me on the phone to take my information was so kind. I definitely feel very safe knowing that the police and the dispatchers near my home are so responsive and wonderful!! read more

I texted the police because my dad was abusing me and I didn't know if I needed help or not. They showed up without my consent which just made the situation worse. People who do things to women without their consent should be viewed the same way rapists are. It was very clear that I was under distress and that I was being abused but they said they couldn't do anything without proof. I may end up dead because the cops didn't take me seriously. I really hope my dad doesn't kill me. I've been abused for years by my dad because I'm mentally disabled and he doesn't know how to raise a special needs kid. I hope this case of negligence helps the police stop endangering people who call for help. read more

It's sad to see all of these negative replies. In one instance, a roommate was attacking my landlady. We got him pinned, they showed up and took care of business quickly and professionally. Another time while driving for lyft, a tail light went out while a cruiser was right behind me! He was polite, as was I, and he directed me to a 24 hr auto parts store where I had the light fixed. Well used have a great respect for duty. Waiting in front of my apartment. They snuck in from behind and locked me out in 102 temp. I clearly rember,teeth/ they wanted play knockknock/is he moving them. Not until my gf showed up did they relent and again w/ a cluck sound from around the corner where I could not see them. My brother in law noted they're drinking and having big smiles around. I say stood and finally sat down in dirt. No goodbye:sorry the inconvenience. No ticket. I had showed them as they looked the peephole and could them chuckling loudly. Was knicked by a car this morn. I hope they will acknowledge to their superior will note of their behavior.
