Had to stop by Gilbert's bakery to get some yummy treats for our park day. The service was amazing. I daydream about their cafe con leche! What i love about their pastellitos is that they put a good portion of guava in it. It's the perfect ratio. We also got fresh chicken empanadas and the empanada cubano was amazing! The vibe of the cafe is very homey and welcoming.

Very beautiful bakery with seating tables. Everything looks in home made. I had the spinach empenada which was great. I did not like the croquettes they were all dough and very little ham with a soggy crust. But it can also be personal taste, I just like Mine crispy and more ham inside.

They need to work more on their customer service skills but other than that, I will say the price value doesn't match with the quality of the food. But then again, that's food from the airport for ya. I ordered a Milanesa chicken sandwich and water. I don't know what the heck was at the end of the sandwich because I tasted something real sour and rotted. I wasn't able to finish it because of that. My relative ordered Picadillo and it was way better than my sandwich to be honest haha. The picadillo was around $6 and my sandwich was around $10. Though, I do like the layout and design of the cafe.

I tried their iced Tres Leches Cortadito and a ham & cheese empanada. Both were good!

Gilbert's Bakery is not the same as it used to be. The staff could use more customer service training. I ordered a pimento roll, a ham roll, and a pastelito. When I took a bite of the pimento roll, it was still frozen. I assume they prepare them in advance, freeze them, and then thaw them to sell, but mine had clearly not been thawed properly. In addition, the warm pastelito was placed in the same box as the frozen items, which affected its quality. Overall, the experience was disappointing.

Love the Nona Rum Cakes from Gilbert's Bakery! My family always enjoys them when I bring them home and they definitely do not last very long. I will say, all the times I have tried their patelitos and croquetas I have been disappointed. This last visit I ordered a Ham Pastelito and Croqueta, they gave me a Beef Pastelito instead which I happily took because it's one of my favorites but both the pastelito and croqueta were cold and seemed like they were old. I can only vouch for their wonderful desert pastries. I typically go for the rum cakes + mini señoritas and always pair it with a cortadito!

Flan, Guava pastry, Capuchino cake, Cortadito

I ordered the flan, guava pastries, capuchino cake, cortadito, and the packaged alfajores. Everything was delicious! The flan was creamy and smooth and had a little fruitiness from the vanilla they used. The guava pastries were fresh and crisp and flaky. The capuchino cake had a wonderfully flavored syrup, it was sweet but had enough liquor to offset the sweetness. The alfajores were soft and had icing but it wasn't too sweet. And the desserts went well with the cortadito which was also delicious. The staff was also friendly and very helpful.

Not what it used to be. Bought a chicken Menesier and got a chunk of dried chicken inside. Also got a meat pastry and an asparagus bocadito that barely had any filling inside. It is a shame.

The salmon looked appetizing and the small nibble I took was also very tasty. So food good but unfortunately the service was not. From the pictures seen on Yelp you would think they have indoor seating which actually they don't, only outside and on a mid day South Florida day it not too pleasant, maybe place a freestanding fan? But back to the main unfortunate complaint and reason for the poor rating. I went inside with the idea of obtaining a delicious meal to help celebrate my mom's 86 birthday and it went fine with the ordering, I even included an extra 7% tip over the automatic 15% that they charge! All be the young lady talking the order seem sweet and caring. So I pay go outside to sit with my mom and time started to pass, and pass, and pass Finally we see the waitress coming with the sandwich and salmon platter and 1 set of silverware? No extra plate like I asked for so we can share, no set of utensils and no drinks. My mom was starving so she went after the sandwich while I waited. And waited and waited and waited and waited. You get the point. So I got up went inside asked for her diet coke because I was afraid she would choke, I was handed the drink and asked for more silverware, and waited and waited eventually I'm handed the silverware and an extra plate. No mention of my tea or empanada. So I go outside give my mom her drink and waited for my buba tea. And waited and waited.... Finally I had enough went back inside asked for a container to take th salmon home at that point she hands me the tea with the wrong lid. Is BUBA with the little tapioca balls it needs a bigger straw and a lid to be able to slide the straw. As I'm walking out the door I told her to save me the empanada for my next visit . She said that she would get it immediately with a deer on the headlights look. She brings out the microwaved empa as Im sliding the salmon home to the container. Walked out with my mom and her world famous cane, and proceeded dump the tea at the nearest trash can since I didn't want to risk a major spill in my car because of the wrong lid. And here we are. I don't recommend the place until they train their staff better. Food can be amazing but the staff makes or breaks the experience. Review edit: After receiving a message from the management on my review above I now fully understand the issues they were having. I hope that the young lady that took care of us has an opportunity for more training and she will shine in the months to come as an important part of the restaurants staff. Thank you to the management for appreciating my detailed experience and their desire to make it better. Will give them another opportunity to serve me their delicious food.

I really enjoy their layout and ambiance. The star of my experience was their Banana Foster hot latte. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it completely delivered. It has this smooth banana flavor with a hint of caramelized sweetness that reminds you of the classic dessert, but it's not overly sugary. The espresso still shines through, and the drink stays perfectly balanced. Every sip feels warm and comforting, especially if you're someone who likes specialty lattes that are flavorful without tasting artificial. What I appreciated most is that the baristas clearly care about the craft. The latte was beautifully made, the milk was silky, and the flavors were layered in a way that felt intentional rather than gimmicky. If you're anywhere near South Miami and want something different from the usual vanilla or caramel latte, the Banana Foster hot latte at Iconik Coffee is absolutely worth trying. They were so approachable, knowledgeable, and fun, that I wanted to support them, so I purchased some coffee. This was on a Thursday morning. The coffee was delivered across the country to my doorstep in Arizona on Saturday - I was super impressed! We made a pot of the Miami Restaurant Employee Relief Fund Blend this morning and it was fabulous. I typically put some steamed almond milk into my coffee but I drank it black (and several cups). It wasn't just me who enjoyed it either. It also passed the test of my judgemental, 43 year old Jewish husband's palate. He always takes his coffee black and this was no exception. I will definitely visit the Per'La coffee shop whenever I make my way back to Miami, but in the meantime, I'm sending love from Phoenix during these crazy times. I know where to look if I ever have questions related to coffee as well! Thanks Team Per'La!

Two cups in the morning, and I was still watching episodes of The Office until 4am... so you know the stuff is good, and probably the most productive I've been in a long time. Since I don't live in Miami, I ordered some of their beans and had them shipped. I got the Lucha Blend in whole bean form and some of the Cold Brew Blend ground up for my summer enjoyment during the heatwaves. I liked them both for different reasons, but the the Lucha Blend was my favorite. It was a dark roast but didn't punch you in the face. It was super smooth and you could get the smoky notes of chocolate with every sip. Don't get me wrong, the cold brew stuff was good too, and again, a small glass will keep you buzzing for hours. I've heard so many great things about Per'La from friends, so I was super happy I was able to support this coffee shop from across the country during COVID-19. Not only was the ordering process super easy via their website, they offer free shipping, and even included a super cute hand-written note showing appreciation too. Huge plus. I ordered on a Thursday and I was drinking their delicious blends by the start of the work-week. I don't know if they're always this fast, but... it was fast. Until I can come in and support them in-person during a future trip to Miami, I know I'll be ordering more of their beans to hold me over until that happens!
