    Espresso martini and sangria
    Laura M.

Went for cocktails, loved the esthetic and comfy seating. The bartender was incredibly friendly and gave great feedback on the drinks. My friend had a standard espresso martini and I had the sangria-- both beautifully presented, flavors were good. Will be going back again to try their tapas menu and more signature drinks! Ample free parking across the street, and reservations may be helpful but we were able to walk-in! Also, I don't mind an upbeat cocktail hour, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend for a first date (at least on a weekend night) as the ambiance was fairly loud.

Fantastic dining experience better than other tapas options in the KC area. The dining room is small and not too loud. We went with friends and were able to have conversations without having to yell. Service was incredible and efficient. Our server, Liz, was attentive, gave great suggestions, and never let us sit without out something to nibble on. The highlight though is the food itself! The menu isn't robust, but what they do, they do well. Everything was flavorful and delicious. Some of the best lamb chops I've had. We will gladly return.

I popped into Gilda's for a quick drink left throughly impressed!! We ordered the Bourbon Chocolate Espresso Martini and the Without Staff cocktail, and both were absolute standouts! The Espresso Martini was the star of the show for sure. It was perfectly rich and velvety smooth. The bartenders were knowledgeable and clearly fluent in the menu, which guided our choices. I need to come back and try the food!

Gilda's space is lovely and hoppin! I really wanted to love it but it's hard to compete with all the excellent tapas options in KC. The portions were notably smaller and the food memorably more greasy. They did have Estrella Damm, which we were excited about. I'd recommend drinks at the bar! Eat if you're planning to have a double dinner kind of restaurant hop.

So fun to have another tapas restaurant in Kansas City... and right next to my favorite bar! The place is super cute! Grabbed some food and a drink with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. Some of the food was amazing, some was just OK. I LOVED the meatballs and the croquettes. The potatoes were just ok. Service was kind. I feel like it is a little pricey for what you get, but still enjoyed my time there.

What a beautiful place and so glad it is in our area! We were warmly greeted upon entering and the service was excellent throughout our time there. We sat at the open window seat and enjoyed the perfect weather and relaxing upscale ambiance. The drinks were perfect and we shared a charcuterie plate that was delicious also. We will definitely go back when we have more time. We had decided to drop in because they didn't have a wait and we were driving home from our day out. They did ask if we had reservations and we didn't but thankfully they accommodated us since it was early so if you plan to go past 4 it might be good to reserve ahead of time.

Good food (small plates), fancy atmosphere, nice servers, absinthe, and definitely the fanciest restaurant in Old Shawnee. Pretty small on the inside, and more relaxed environment. I do feel like there are better tapas restaurants to visit in the Kc area for the same price range though. A welcome addition to the Old Shawnee area!

    No crust cheesecake. 5 star

Great service delicious desserts !!! Must visit. Always a great time!! This is a stop we always make!

We were excited to see this open after having traveled to Basque country! The gilda (olives) tasted just like what we had in Spain and the Basque cheesecake was delicious without being overly sweet. Cocktails were quite strong and the service was great. A welcome addition to downtown Shawnee!

Had a very yummy meal at Gilda's tonight. First impressions were that it's a very cute space. But first hiccup is that I had made reservations for 3 but they put us at a 2 top and put a chair on the side. It just felt unwelcoming, especially when there were a couple of four tops available. Didn't like that. Service was extremely prompt and friendly. We started with the Gilda, solely for my dad. He loves anchovies. And he really liked it. We ordered the croquetas and the charcuterie. Croquetas were delicious and I could have eaten 3 by myself. Charcuterie was just a charcuterie board. Didn't knock my socks off but fine - but I probably would've just ordered two more tapas for the same price. The meatballs in a sherry cream sauce was very good. My mom wanted some vegetables, which frankly the menu probably needs two more vegetable items, so I got the fried eggplant. That was actually probably my favorite dish of the night. Just unexpected and very good. And then we got the special which was spare ribs. And we finished off the meal with the basque cheesecake. Everything was really good, and the vibes were good in the space, but the small plates were exceptionally small. I left just satisfied with my meal, though I probably could've used two more tapas for us to split to really feel full. And with tip, the bill was about $150. So it is definitely more on the expensive end of things, but again I thought the food was delicious and I really loved the vibes, and I think it's a great addition to downtown Shawnee. I am from Shawnee and lived there for 30 years of my life so I'm thrilled to see something like Gilda's in Shawnee. You can definitely have a sexy date night in Shawnee now. I'm not sure I would suggest Gilda's for a group, but it really is a great date night spot.

We were able to do a walkthrough and trial run ahead of time, and they thoughtfully helped us design a layout that made perfect sense for our intimate 40-person reception. Their guidance made the entire space feel intentional, comfortable, and beautifully put together. The space itself is absolutely stunning--elevated, warm, and perfect for a smaller, more personal celebration. When we arrived after our ceremony, the room flip was seamless and everything was exactly as planned. But what truly set Verdigris apart was the service. The staff was phenomenal--attentive, professional, and genuinely invested in making our night special. Every detail was handled with care, and we were able to be fully present and enjoy the evening with our guests. We reserved the space for three hours, and it was 100% worth it. If you're considering hosting a private event--especially a wedding reception or intimate gathering--this is the place to do it. We would choose Verdigris again in a heartbeat. They offer a wide variety of fancy, creative drinks, though they definitely sit at a higher price point. Unfortunately, the customer service didn't match the upscale price tag. When a few additional members of our party arrived, the staff flat-out refused to let us pull up an extra chair or move any of the seating to accommodate them. What made this especially frustrating was that half the establishment was completely empty at the time. When you are paying top dollar for craft cocktails in a lounge setting, you expect a certain level of hospitality and flexibility. We were nice and asked but was met with coldness that did not match the venue. The last time I was here the service was friendly, so not sure what changed. While the drinks are visually impressive, the rigid and unaccommodating seating policy put a definite damper on our evening. We quickly closed out and went to dinner early so a business associate would not be left standing the entire time. This establishment is better if you were coming for a date night or with a friend and not with a group.

It was a small touch, but it immediately conveyed a level of attentiveness and professionalism. The highlight of the evening was the service. Kareem was exceptional. He didn't simply take our order--he guided us through the entire experience. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, from explaining dishes in detail to recommending wine pairings that complemented the meal perfectly. He checked on us consistently without ever being intrusive and genuinely made us feel welcome. He wasn't just selling food; he was representing the restaurant and the overall dining experience, and he did so exceptionally well. The restaurant itself strikes a wonderful balance between sophisticated and approachable. It feels upscale without being pretentious. I appreciated the attention to detail throughout the space, including the beautiful brass accents above the bar. The patio looked inviting, although the summer heat made indoor seating the better choice during our visit. The food arrived surprisingly quickly, and every dish we ordered was outstanding. Some of the selections were served chilled, which likely contributed to the speed, but nothing felt rushed. The quality and presentation were excellent. My only minor caution is parking. Depending on when you arrive, you may need to park a couple of blocks away and walk. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's worth planning for. If you're unfamiliar with the area, it may be helpful to call ahead and ask for parking recommendations. We didn't have reservations and were dressed casually. The hostess was friendly and welcoming, and we were seated in what was referred to as the "other dining room," down a dark hallway into a musty, warm, and humid space. Service was prompt and courteous, but the food was very disappointing. We were served a cucumber salad that oddly tasted like peanuts, followed by six completely flavorless meatballs--no seasoning at all, not even salt. The prices might be reasonable if the quality matched expectations, but it didn't. The contrast between the main dining room and the "other room" also felt stark and uncomfortable, as if it were a second-tier seating area. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant based on this experience.

While cheese pizza may seem simple, this one was anything but! The blend of cheeses was incredibly flavorful, the cheese pull was perfection, and the fresh basil added not only brightness but additional flavor that truly made this cheese pizza stand out from other places! The Newbie comes with a combination of red sauce, mozzarella, roasted garlic, caramelized shallots, pecorino, parmesan, hot honey, and Italian sausage; However, we substituted that for chicken. Perfectly medium and soft. So good. More nuanced than salmon? I had the Chicken Fried Halibut Clavicle. I would normally order lighter and more toward raw or lightly cooked dishes. Having someone prepare an underused part of a fish... in the Midwest? I had to do it. Photos won't do that plate justice (because it was deep fried), but let me put it this way: if you're a "white meat" chicken person, you're probably happy with a halibut filet. But if you're a chicken thigh person... this is your order. Clavicle bones are angular and sorta fluted so a lot of the meat is contacting bone. Insanely moist and flavorful, but just as snow-white. Atop a bed of country mashed potatoes and sage gravy, and collard greens. Loved it. More food than the photo shows. Wow. I didn't expect that. Must have been a large fish to begin with. The counter downstairs looks cool, but the view from above provides a grounded sense of space for downtown. This place looks good on Parkville... but Parkville looks good on this place.
