This is the kind of place that reminds you why you love supporting small businesses…read more My wife and I booked the wine and chocolate pairing experience at Hill Country Chocolate in Fredericksburg, and without question, it was the best tasting experience we've ever had. From the moment we walked through the door, Dan and Melanie made us feel like welcomed guests instead of customers. We were greeted immediately and escorted upstairs to a beautiful tasting room where we spent nearly two hours enjoying an unforgettable experience. Dan is one of the most knowledgeable and passionate business owners I've ever met. He walked us through not only each DKM wine and handcrafted chocolate pairing, but also the fascinating story behind how the business came to be and the meticulous process that goes into making every product. His professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine love for his craft were evident in every minute of the experience. And the products? Absolutely phenomenal. I can honestly say every single wine and every single chocolate was outstanding. The Moscato, sparkling wines, and red wines were all incredible. The chocolate pairings elevated everything even further. The turtles, brittle, chocolate-covered raisins, chocolate-covered strawberries... every bite was memorable. It was one of those rare experiences where you keep waiting for something to be "just okay," but it never happens because everything is exceptional. The factory itself is spotless, beautifully designed, and it's amazing being able to look through the windows and watch the production area where everything is made. The retail shop is equally impressive, filled with beautifully packaged chocolates, wines, gifts, and treats. We told ourselves we weren't going to buy much... that lasted about five minutes. There was simply no way we were leaving empty-handed. What impressed me most was the precision and care that Dan and Melanie have poured into every aspect of their business. From the presentation, to the storytelling, to the products themselves, every detail has been thoughtfully crafted. It's rare to find a place where the customer service is just as exceptional as the products, but Hill Country Chocolate absolutely delivers on both. If you're visiting Fredericksburg, do not skip this experience. Whether you're a wine lover, a chocolate lover, or just appreciate passionate business owners who genuinely care about giving guests an unforgettable experience, this is a must-do. Bravo, Dan and Melanie. Thank you for an incredible afternoon. We can't wait to come back and will be recommending Hill Country Chocolate to everyone we know. 5/5 without hesitation.

This place is such a gem in the hill country with some truly amazing chocolate and sweets. They will offer you a sample when you come in, and you can either do a tasting or just do some shopping there. These chocolates are elite and are priced accordingly. The owner came out and talked to every table while we were there and provided Us with additional samples. Everything was delicious with amazing flavors. They do have wine you can try here too, but this is an amazing non drinking option when in the area.

I never knew this place existed until recently and checked it out. They're located in the corner of…read morethe plaza, and can be easy to miss. There's a large shared parking lot, though there's a steep incline going up to and down from the lot from the street. Walking in, we were immediately greeted and self-identified as first-time visitors. We were given a quick tour of the place, where they made their chocolate by hand and their current selections of chocolate bars, toffee barks, and truffles. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to try the different intensities of chocolate bits they had available as samples. Ranging from 50% to 100%, my personal favorite was the 90%. We ended up getting 2 mint truffles, 2 coffee truffles, and a small bag of toffee bark for $16 + tax. They don't taste too bad with a glass of wine we had later that day, though they weren't our favorite chocolates. Overall, this chocolate factory is still worth a stop in to check out the chocolate making process, by which they still use direct-sourced cocao beans from Ecuador. They are under new ownership, yet they plan to begin offering wine pairings and couples nights in Summer 2026.

So I was disappointed but I just learned about them and was hoping to try their chocolates. I hope they are open the next time I come. I'll try to get there earlier in the afternoon. You know that you had better cake from an HEB and not pay hundreds for it. Fat Kids don't even eat the chocolate cakes from this place. This place is in a great spot for foot traffic because of all the other places next to it. When you walk in there are tons of chocolates, cakes, macarons;etc. I took a look around the whole shop just to see what they offer and I have to say the options seemed almost limitless. I did like that they had gifting chocolates already out. After walking around, I ended up just buying the Kanafeh & Pistachio Taco which was a whopping $14.00 ! I do have to say for the size of the taco, I don't believe it's worth that much. Don't get me wrong it was very delicious and can appreciate how much of the mixture they tried to put in it, but the chocolate ended up being too much for me. Now to talk about the service, this is where things were a little awkward since the 2 employees were having a conversation the female was loudly talking about how she was pissed that things had to be done a certain way and complaining about doing stickers or something to the male, when I tell you I heard the entire conversation.... I heard the entire thing. Just my 2 cents, if you're going to complain about anyone that has to do with the business maybe be a little quieter with customers around or wait until they leave.
