I stopped in at the Gilmanton Pub for dinner very recently, which is located in a small town between the Lakes Region and the Seacoast of New Hampshire. Aka The Temperance Tavern, the Gilmanton Pub has that old style New England country inn atmosphere set in an old house with lots of framed historic pictures and decorations on the walls and dining areas in the main pub area, and smaller more intimate dining rooms with fireplaces and comfortable chairs. There is also background music playing from Music Choice on TVs with Pop Country music in the pub area and Classical music in the smaller room. Anyways, they are open for dinner Wed-Sun from 5pm to 10pm and now open for lunch on Saturdays at 11am with limited selections from the dinner menu. As for the food, they offer a selection of appetizers (meatballs, dips, nachos, wings, cheese & fruit platter, charcuterie board, bruschetta), salads, lots of pasta dishes (ravioli dishes, pappardelle, rice, gluten free ziti), and dessert (gelato, brownie, apple pie, cheesecake). Gluten free options are available for some of the dishes. The prices here are a bit high for what you get, most food items $10-$24 range and desserts $7-$9. They also have a beverage menu of red wines, white wines, cocktails, bottled beers, craft beers, and non-alcoholic drinks. I stopped in after they just opened for the evening and sat in the pub area. It was not too busy and I was served promptly. I was given ice water and a blue glass bottle at the table to refill my glass when needed. I ate light and ordered the Louisiana Gumbo ($18) with a Side Salad ($7). The side salad came out first when was a chopped salad with fresh greens, carrots, peppers, vipe ripe tomatoes, and thick bleu cheese dressing on the side. The Gumbo dish was served in a small bowl with on top of firm cooked pappadelle pasta, which had a mix of chicken, andoulle sausage and vegetables, served with a very small piece of bread. This dish was okay, which was not spicy and a bit bland tasting. I finished this dish quickly and passed on the offer for dessert since I was heading over to a bar in the Lakes Region for more food later on. The check before tip was $27.25. The food was decent and pricey for what I received overall and the service was efficient. PARKING is a bit tight along the south side of the building, angle parking in.

Finally, now that the 'newness' wore off, 4 of us were able to grab a table with ease. There was live music & they post on their Facebook page regularly with updates on food & cocktail specials. We decided on appetizers: nachos w/ chicken, mozzarella sticks & potato skins. The nachos were really good - I liked the chips they used. The mozzarella sticks were a bit underwhelming, similar to frozen ones I've purchased at BJs. The potato skins tasted like they were made in-house. ABOVE & BEYOND MOMENT: Our server, Jackie, was friendly & patient with our requests. I had asked if they could make a spicy margarita. She asked the bartender & they were out of their jalapeno tequila so they asked if it was okay to muddle fresh jalapenos instead. I said I trusted the bartender to do what they thought best. When my margarita was delivered, the Jackie asked if I wouldn't mind tasting it to make sure it wasn't too spicy. I think the fact they custom made the drink & ensured it was to my liking was great. I see mixed reviews about the prices. I honestly found that appetizers averaging about $15 was on the high side. We'd like to go back for dinner, maybe when there isn't live music. Very loud due to the small space. The ambience is a cleaned up version of J.J. Goodwins & there are (2) pool tables.

This review is based on the Blues-ology sports bar inside The Lodge At Belmont gaming center…read more Several of my coworkers who live in the area have told me that the restaurant & bar inside The Lodge serves pretty good food and drinks at very reasonable prices. I actually had a $25 gift certificate to The Lodge At Belmont from a local radio station in my possession for almost a year. I decided to use it tonight on a very rainy Monday night. Blues-ology was pretty quiet with just a handful of patrons here and one bartender running the floor. This bar has the atmosphere of a Southern style blue-sy themed sports bar with plenty of TVs (though not on) lined up along the high ceilings, big screen TV at the bar, digital jukebox, video game machines, electronic darts, and classic music memorabilia on the walls (Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Stones,...) . It sort of felt like being in Mississippi, but there was actually pop and r&b playing over the speakers, so I felt at right at home in Central NH. There's seating up at the bar and table seating. A small group of women (no hubbys) at the next table were really having a great time playing several rounds of electronic darts over beers. The food menu is the standard pub fare of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, pizza, salads, chili, chicken tenders, and steak tips. The bar is fully stocked and several beers on tap and bottle are offered. Miller Lite bottles are $2 all the time. See the menu at http://www.thelodgeatbelmont.com/index.php?option=com_phocamenu&view=dailymenu&Itemid=71 I ordered the Nachos with Chili ($8.99), The Lodge Club ($8.99) with hand cut fries & pickles, and a Hawaiian Pizza ($8.99). The Nachos were HUGE, a pile of warm crispy tortilla chips piled with a meat & bean chili, jalepenos, melted cheese, onions, green peppers, and salsa & sour cream on the side. The nachos were a big meal in itself and I was almost already full by the time the other food items arrived. The Lodge Club (triple decker) had plenty of thin sliced deli ham & turkey, crisp bacon strps, crisp lettuce, tomato slices, cheese, and mayo on toasted bread. The hand cut fries were on the soft side though and not salted (thanks!). The Hawaiian Pizza (10") with a firm chewy crust very generous amounts of thin sliced deli ham, pineapple, & melted cheese & sauce piled on good! The bartender was courteous and the service was laid back with staged delivery of the food to my table. I had the pizza boxed to go and given a box to pack up much of the food I did not finish. The $25 gift certificate was honored and the remaining total was only $4.40 with tax and before tip. Overall, I got plenty of food with my gift certificate. 3.70/5.00 stars

You might think 5 min...there was only 3 tables with customers. Once seated it was another 10 minutes before our drink order was taken. Drinks , appetizers came out in a timely manner. As fro the main courses a different story. Both my wife and son ordered steak fritz with chimmichuri on top. We waited for over 25 minutes too get an over cooked dry slab of meat. It looked like the steaks were set under heat lamps waiting for the waitress to get the food and deliver. My son could see into the kitchen where the 2 waitresses were discussing something very important with the chef and not getting food out the door. 25 min to get our meals. To top it off there was NO chimmichuri to be found on the beef or on the side. Unfortunately the waitress never checked back so we couldn't have her go to the kitchen and get some. Extremely disappointed!! We actually had to go find our waitress to get our check. I really think 1.5 stars but you can't. Maybe next time we try the bar but reading some of the reviews maybe not. Sad to say....
