We took our daughter and son-in-law out for sandwiches, and ended up getting salads, fish and chips, and burger (plus a burger to go for our babysitter). Our server was delightful! She was prompt, courteous, and friendly. The music was good, though a bit too loud (we were seated too close). We had not been to 405 on a Live music night though, so we made the best of it. We will ask to sit farther away if that happens again. Or we just won't go on music nights. The singer guitarist was good, but every song was in the same key (all songs sounded alike). Some like that. We don't. Musical taste is subjective. We're musicians and know that. It's tough to please everyone. Our food and drinks were all delicious! Four of us do regional restaurant 'exploring' on a weekly basis. We're always looking for something we've never tried. I came across the 405 Pub and it looked promising. Waitstaff was great & attentive. Food was very good with generous portions. I would go back just for the Truffle Parmesan Fried Mushrooms alone! Classic pub atmosphere and menu. My wife and I decided to enjoy an afternoon lunch on Veterans Day. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed on the food. My wife ordered soup (chicken pot pie) which was cold the waitress was very polite and apologized and returning the soup to reheat. Waitress returned with the soup very hot and my wife thanked her. Again, my wife dissatisfied with the soup tasted very salty. I tried the soup and agreed with her that the soup was salty. Therefore, she had lost her appetite. If I could put zero I would. Called because the book a table was not working. Girl who answered the phone had no idea if they take reservations and had no idea why the link wasn't working. Started out crappy and didn't get better. There was 5 of us, sat us at a table that they had to put a chair on the end when they had plenty of big tables. We order our drinks 2 cocktails and 2 beers. The "frozen" mudslide was terrible it was watery and blah. It was watery because they don't use ice cream, just ice and the ingredients in a blender. The second cocktail which was on there list of special cocktails on the table, which was a coconut margarita tasted like mix and nothing else in it. Our waitress was nowhere to be seen so we asked the waitress from the other table to get her. Still took at least 10 minutes for her to come over to see what the issue was. When she was told that there was something off with the margarita and could we just get a Sprite instead She had an attitude about it. Turns out the sprite wasn't any better as it was too much syrup and wasn't mixed properly. The margarita also caused a rash on the person who ordered it. We have no idea why. We ordered an appetizer which was the sampler for all of us. Sampler comes out no plates. She puts down the sampler and says oh I'll go get you some plates. She's gone for at least 20 minutes. We had to lay out napkins to eat our appetizers off of. Now it's a very long wait till our entrées come out. My daughter got cheese nachos and added ground beef. It came out looking like it had been cooked for hours the meat just disintegrated they were awful. My son and I ordered a pizza to split which I will say this is the third time we have been to this restaurant. The first two times were great. The pizza was very good that time. The pizza didn't even look the same. It was round and I believe in the past it was like a flatbread. it was very greasy and not enjoyable. Him and I also shared the pretzels, which seems like a frozen product that they just cooked in an oven. They were not equal in size and you only got two of them which were very small. my husband got a hamburger which he was asked how he would like it cooked. He replied medium. Came out well done. The last meal ordered was chicken Cordon Bleu, which could not have had any less filling or it would've had none. We asked our waitress for our check when our food came as we had somewhere to be. We got to the restaurant with plenty of time over an hour and a half before we had to be to our event, which should've been plenty of time. when we were finished, we had to go up to the hostess station which no one was at and stand there and wait for someone to cash us out so we could leave. Definitely had the feel of a local bar and grill. Several large televisions that allowed us to watch game one of the Bruins. Waitress was beyond nice. She also had a good sense of humor and checked on us regularly, while running around cleaning, takeout etc. wife had a cheeseburger with a sunny side egg, it was cooked perfectly to a medium rare. Fries were nice and crispy, but portion seemed small. It was Mexican Monday, a name I'm sure will offend some, but the tacos, bowls, enchiladas and dirty rice they had was so cheap. I would give 3.5 stars to 405 pub and grill, our waitress was good the hostess took our temperatures upon entry. My house Chardonnay was chilled to perfection in a nice clean wine glass. The food was just okay though, not bad, but nothing that made me super happy. We asked to be seated in the dining room area as it was empty and the bar was packed. We shared mozzarella sticks and spinach dip. The mozzarella sticks were good the dip not so much. I had the chicken pot pie it was okay, the crust was a bit overdone and the pot pie under it tasted like Campbell's cream of chicken. One daughter had a burger the other a pizza and the pizza went over better than the burger. The 405 Pub is running the pumpkin festival beer garden where they are charging anyone who pays with a credit card an extortionate $2 fee to do so...that's a 40% increase on a $5 bud light draft...there's no sign indicating this either...if you don't want to take credit cards, don't, but if you do you shouldn't gouge people who use them. Their menu is expensive for the items that they have! About all of the burgers were around $16.95! I had a turkey BLT wrap that I later discover was $13.95. I could be wrong, but that seems a bit steep for a sandwich with fries (I would think it would be more around an average of $8.95 to $10.95 or so). My boyfriend ordered the Jack Daniels burger which was supposed to have a Jack Daniels-flavored BBQ sauce slathered on it, but there was absolutely none on it. Either the kitchen forgot or there was some sort of miscommunication. We didn't say anything, though. If you like IPA's, they only have 1 on tap (Clown Shoes or something). Otherwise, for a bar scene, they didn't have much for draft. Mostly bottled & canned beer. Anyway, at least we ate. The food was okay. The presentation was nice, wasn't expecting that. I was there with a party of nine.So, not the big but not double digits. Took 20 minutes to just order drink. And then we were ready for our second drink before they even took our food order. Fast forward an hour later...we are still nursing our second drink and 6 out of 9 have received food. I approach waitress to complain and ask for a discount or an apology and I was told "my boss said that if we eat the food you have to pay for the food." Ok...I get that...but we waited over an HOUR for food. The rest of out table had their plates cleared and we hadn't gotten our food. We were Never offered an apology. Nothing. We ate what we could but the good was than good. Chicken marsala was clearly sitting under a heat lamp, bowl was on fire and top of food was hot but the rest was so cold. But whatever. We needed to not be so hungry and with no options.. Ok... leaving....hostess asks my boyfriend how everything was...he said "honestly, one of the worst experiences I've ever had"....so she goes and gets the general manager and owner. While our waitress is there he explains what happens and the waitress comes back with "well..they got their food within ten minutes of the rest of the table"...as if that would even be acceptable if it were the truth. THEN....in an effort to comfort my boyfriend she decides to TOUCH HIM!!! In this world of the "me too" movent! If he had touched her....let's not even speak of it! To say the least we had to leave before our food ever got to the table because of the circumstances we were in. We were told there would be a wait but not an hour and a half for food and no refills on our drinks we ordered. My friend had one drink and by the time the time our waiter came to check on us it wasn't worth getting another drink. We decided to leave and pay for our drinks but never got our food because of how bad the service was and the extended wait on food. The 405 is a great local place to get solid dependable good food and good drinks in a fun unpredictable atmosphere. Most thought I was out of my mind to order the fish here- until they tried it. The topping on the fresh haddock is old school and addicting. So addicting it took me a while to order something else. I've now tried the wings and they were excellent. The buffalo could be hotter but I like it really really unbearably hot. The bourbon wings are sticky and sweet. And the house dirty are a combination of buffalo and bourbon mixed and then grilled. There are many more to pick from. The pizza is solid and the the onion rings are great even for someone who usually does not order them. The burgers are great and every special I've had is also great. The DJ's are very good when they play and the crowd does dance. Governors Island is close by and besides locals you never know who will be spotted - Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Brittany Spears, the Governor, the Mayor, lawyers, Electrician's, Plumber's, salespersons, or a local stewbum. The Appetizer we got was nachos and they did not disappoint, the half order was enough to feed us 2 probably for an entire meal but we already ordered dinner so we had to save some room. The steak tips my girlfriend got were really good except for about half of the tips were rare maybe even black n blue. She ordered medium. The good thing was she was already kind of full from the app so we took home the undercooked tips and grilled them a little longer for a midnight snack. My chicken park sandwich was really good!
