    French Dip Melt
    Erika T.

We arrived a little ahead of the lunch rush and yet somehow were the last table to receive food. The bartender was nice enough, but didn't space out her rounds well and that's how she ended up taking the orders of people who arrived 10+ minutes after us before she took ours. A burger is standard fare. Not sure how they can serve it without pickles, but I asked for pickles to be added. The bartender failed to mention there was a 50 cent charge. For pickles!! The French dip was lackluster and the fries served with the sandwich were over cooked. Typical dive bar atmosphere with lots of townies greeting each other. I'm sure if you are from the Lakes Region and this is the local watering hole, you'll acquire a taste for it. There are better dive bars around though. And those other locations won't freeze you out with max A/C when the outside temps aren't even in the 70s. It was warmer outside than in.

Absolutely loved this place. Small, Quaint, great prices, great service and Delicious food. The Honey Barbecue chicken roll up was excellent. The best I have ever tasted. The chicken was tender and the sandwich was filled with bacon, lettuce, tomato. So yummy! I highly recommend the The Mug!

A friendly local watering hole with decent food and friendly service. Don't be put off by the outside appearance, it's actually very family friendly. Got antsy kids? There's plenty of room to run around and video games to play. There's two doors- one for the bar area, which includes a small bar and some tables including some high tops. The other door takes you to the main part of the restaurant which includes a large seating area. the back is near the pool tables and video games. I can vouch for the burgers, most subs and even the pizza is pretty good. The beer list is mostly regular draft beers and other choices in a bottle. I wish their classic beer mugs were a pint, but at least they usually come poured full. If you're looking for something more casual than most of what's in Meredith Center, this is a good option.

    Breaded Mushrooms

Great food, great atmosphere and great service. I have been looking for a fun restaurant/bar to go to and this is the perfect place. If you are looking for a great appetizer, their breaded mushrooms are to die for.

If this bar were on the Bar Rescue show it would flop. Greasy tasteless fried bland low-quality food not even fit for a dog, and likely greasier in the kitchen. Bake or broil something healthy, expand the menu, get a new cook, add fresh sautéed veggies to the plate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's not that hard! People notice the cheapness!

Steak Bomb Sub Lunch with Sweet Potato Fries and. Smuttynose ipa

The Mug is a Great Lake winni dive bar. If you want yummy greasy food after a day on the boat, or a day on the ski slopes, this place is for you. The steak bomb sub, the Italian sub, the nachos, quesadilla, even the pizza - will hit the spot, you can do no wrong.

Bbq Pulled pork sandwich on a pretzel bun with sweet potato fries
    Christina J.

Not sure why this place has 3 stars, but definitely deserves at least a 4 or 5! Stopped in on a Sunday after Thanksgiving for dinner. Few locals at the bar, and football on. Hubby got a burger with onion rings, I got a BBQ pulled pork sandwich on a pretzel bun with sweet potato fries (picture). Everything was fresh, not soggy, onion rings were not over battered, sweet potato fries not oily/greasy. Definitely a spot to hit for a simple meal!

We almost couldn't hear each other across a small table. Decent wine list. They had a Prisoner Chardonnay $14 and Unshackled Cabernet Sauvignon $13. I got an Oberon Sauvignon Blanc for $10. The crab cake appetizer for $18 came with two burger-sized crab cakes, a peach salsa that was the star of the show, and a dill remoulade sauce. Enough to share. However, the texture was like moist breadcrumbs, similar to falafel, and we saw no crabmeat. It was seasoned to taste like seafood, but the crab didn't show up to the party. My husband got the Tuscan filet for $43 and said it was tender but not medium rare as he ordered. It was definitely medium. I got the seafood saffron for $32 that came with two medium sized scallops, 3-4 medium shrimp and a few small pieces of lobster. I saw a few shorts threads of saffron but the sauce was sweet! Not coconut sweet, but sugary sweet. I thought it would be sherry based like a light Newburgh sauce, but no. I'm not keen on sweet seafood. I thought a lemon or sherry based light sauce would have complimented the scallops and lobster better. Sorry Breeze kitchen staff. I have to be honest, but hopefully kind. The food was plated beautifully. You set out cloth napkins. But we can't see coming back for a long while. That was our anniversary dinner. $137.91 plus tip. Swing and a miss.

We were seated right by the window with an absolutely breathtaking view of the lake. No matter what the food tasted like, this was going to be a great experience. We had been working all day, and after 12 days working the Laconia Bike Week, we were tired and just wanted someplace to relax. This was a great choice. We started with a Beet Salad for me and New England Clam Chowder for my dining partner. He seems to be on a roll to find the best clam chowder, as he's ordered it just about everywhere. He said this was good, and my salad was excellent as well. I got the Seafood Paella and he ordered the Crispy Duck. He said the duck was very good, and it came on the saffron rice that was served with my paella dish. The paella was jam packed with seafood. I'd say it's an Americanized version of paella, but was still very good. They do make saffron rice using real saffron as opposed to saffron powder. The shellfish was plentiful and had scallops, shrimp, mussels, and clams. There was edamame instead of peas, which is a bit unusual, but still good. All the seafood was cooked nicely. There was a little too much andouille sausage for my liking, which I removed. With all the food, there was no room for dessert. This was an outstanding way to end a very long week.

Portion sizes are pretty massive. My dining partner got the meatloaf dish. It was absolutely ginormous! We were in an Airbnb without a full kitchen, so though we took it with us, he never did eat it. It was heavily glazed with something he did not like. Had it been glazed with a little lighter hand, he probably would not have minded it. But he did not like that flavor at all. The mac & cheese was good but again heavier than he likes to eat. The seafood dish I had, on the other hand, was very good. It had plenty of pieces of lobster in it, as well as generous portions of shellfish. The broth was also excellent. As this is a pricier place, we only made one trip during our 13-day stay. It is worth a visit here, and you'll likely get enough for a second meal. There were lots of good choices on the menu. I originally thought to give this place 5 stars based on my dish, but due to the fact that my dining partner did not make any effort to eat the rest of his meal he took home because he said he didn't like it enough, that took a star away.
