The place used to be absolutely phenomenal. They had these wonderful tacos but they got rid of them... now all their food is greasy and doesn't taste good. It's always crowded and it takes forever to get your food. The cherry on top is the fact it's always super loud. read more

Axe & Ale was super fun. We were in the area for a concert and it had good ratings and was nearby so we went to check it out. We only went for dinner and drinks but they also have axe throwing! There is a private parking lot. It's in a plaza type place. There is a ton of seating inside - bar, tables, booths. We ended up sitting at the bar and got to sit right away. The bartender who waited on us was great. Very chatty and social and made sure we had everything we needed. My boyfriend drank beers on tap and I had my classic Tito's and pineapple. It was only $10 for my liquor drink which was a great price for the size. It was made very well. All the food we had was fantastic. It took a little while to come out but was so worth the wait. I got a Cesar salad and truffle Parmesan fries. My boyfriend got the spicy pepperoni pizza which was delicious. It had pepperoni, red pepper flakes, hot honey, and ricotta. Mouthwatering. My Cesar salad was perfect and the fries were to die for. I love a good truffle parm combo. Everything about our experience was positive except for the bartender constantly talking to her friends who came to sit at the bar which caused our level of service to decrease, which is the only reason I took away a star. She seemed frazzled and I did have to repeat my orders a few times. Otherwise, it was a great night of food and drinks. The poutine is weird and doesn't look right. Too wet. I feel like it needs to be a thicker sauce. The chunks of meat were insanely huge. I had simply asked for the cheese and sauce to be put on the noodles only instead of on the chicken because I don't want my chicken to be soggy. And they Didn't put any cheese and sauce on my plate at all! It's literally chicken Parmesan why wouldn't they put Parmesan on my food? One good thing was The chicken was crunchy. Hour and 45 minutes wait for some kid's chicken fingers while there were only 2 other families in the restaurant. Overcooked steak tips that were really just tough bites of steak with hard "whipped" potatoes. Poutine was not poutine and waaaaaay Overpriced. Axe throwing should have been free for the price of the food. Disappointed and confused by the food quality. Waitress was nice but there was nothing that she could do. The disaster could not be averted. read more

The apps and burgers were great. Unfortunately the kitchen staff way overcooked the chicken fingers for one member of our party. Another lady had undercooked sweet potato fries served with her steak tips. I can see things getting away from the line guys if it was slammed. But, It wasn't even busy. I stopped in at the Axe & Ale Taphouse for food after work. This restaurant, bar and axe throwing center opened next door to the Gilford Cinema. The place was very busy on a Tuesday night since axe throwing (12 stalls) was 20 percent off and there was also a concert at the nearby Bank of NH Pavilion (Meadowbrook). Since they were running on a 20 minute wait for a table, I found a spot up at the bar, which was also very busy. The bar offers 16 beers on tap, can drinks, wine and cocktails. There is also a flat screen TV over the bar.  I was given a food menu to look at as the bartender was flat out busy making drinks. It took 7 minutes for my order to be taken. I ordered the Soft Tacos (chose 1 pork & 1 shrimp) with Mexican rice ($15 plus tax) and the Classic Bird with fries ($16 plus tax) and an ice water.  The tacos arrived about 15 minutes after ordering by a food runner. The 2 soft tacos were each loaded well with shredded cabbage slaw, cilantro, dense soft pulled pork/4 grilled shrimp in warm soft flour tortillas, pico de Gallo and guacamole on the side. The side cup of Mexican white rice was grilled with bits of tomato. The tacos were a bit messy, but tasted good. Shortly after this, the Classic Bird with fries arrived. The Classic Bird was thick which had leaf lettuce, pickle chips, peppercorn ranch, a very crispy breaded & fried thick chicken breast, melted cheddar cheese between s toasted seeded salt & pepper bun. The side of golden shoestring fries were minimally fried. The Classic Bird was a really good fried chicken sandwich and veth filling.  After I was done, I got the check which was $33.64 with tax and before tip and the receipt had a QR code to pay online via Toast.  Overall, the food here was pretty good, with moderate to slightly higher prices. The service here was adequate though the bartenders were still very busy during my visit. Axe & Ale is a good place to stop for pub fare and drinks, axe throwing, and seeing a movie next door. 3.65/5.00 read more

I came in since I drive by all the time. Beer list is via QR code which is something I can't stand, especially when their WiFi isn't working as it isn't right now. Finally got connected to another provider's WiFi and pulled up the list. Ordered a beer and the bartender was friendly enough as she checks her phone for the third time in 10 minutes. She asked if I wanted a food menu and I obliged even though I am not very hungry. OMG the prices! $12 for fried pickles? $10 kids meals. $7 for a side of mashed potatoes? Do they think we are in downtown Boston? And now granted they are probably all about the ax throwing, but at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday there was nobody doing it. Food is decent pub fare although a bit on the pricey side. $20 for a flatbread pizza? Tuesdays brings in a crowd for Trivia which should at first glance be a fun event. But let's understand that the regular teams that show up are DEFINITELY cheating. The host of the event always says "please don't use your phones" & then summarily ignores the fact that the players are scrolling for answers. Why do they cheat? Because there is a cash prize! Week after week they return to grab another $30 prize. Here's an idea. How about you put your phones in a basket in front of the MC? Then we can see how smart you really are. Won't be coming back, can get pub food elsewhere. read more

Food was good but service was the worst we have ever had. We ordered a beer, one salad, a burger, and a burger to go. It took over an hour to get our food. Waitress never checked on us once to see how food was, didn't ask if we wanted another drink. We were basically forgotten in the corner. The hostess was incredibly rude and should seek out another line of work. We made a reservation online and she refused to acknowledge it. Once our table was ready she pointed to where it was and didn't walk us to the table. The food was good but the kitchen was running hour plus ticket times in a half empty restaurant. Do not waste your time or money. My $28 salmon was tiny and extremely dry. We told the waitress, and she did nothing. My brother ordered steak tips which were gray colored and looked microwaved. It might be fine for fries and burgers, but they would be cheaper at McDonalds. read more

I just left your restaurant and I have to say I am so disappointed. We waited over an hour for our appetizers, no one came to acknowledge why it took so long,, I had to go to the bar to get my own drink from the bartender that was sitting for 30 minutes and then our meals were absolutely awful!-they had been sitting in the kitchen and not served to us and were barely warm! I will never go back and eat at this restaurant. We were comped for the meals and still charged for our drinks!!!!--so disappointed, not sure what happened, because the food used to be so good!--I was told that they had a cook change--well--my suggestion is go get your previous chef back! --and now adding to this review--I got violently ill last night!---from the food I ate at this restaurant! can't believe I my experience got worse! We went on Presidents Day- so it was very quiet. Had a delicious lunch- all food was amazing- and the servers were fantastic. When they had a bunch of people show up at once, the owner (or manager) came right over and apologized for it taking a little longer- which, to be honest, it wasn't terrible for the amount of staff available. The food is good, but I definitely wouldn't go again for the axe throwing. The axes were dull and the board was very chewed up. The ladies in our group maybe got two to stay in the board in an hour session, the men didn't do well either. I thought, oh well we hadn't done it before, so it must be us. The atmosphere is fun; sports on the wall, glass garage door, and an acoustic singer. The food is challenging for some items. All of the dishes weren't warm and the haddock and vegetables were close to raw. The was very pleasant but very slow. Each step in the process took 20+ minutes. Went for dinner tonight. Everyone loved their dinners which including pizza, burgers and the chicken and waffles. Great place to bring the kids so they can play table shuffle board and other games. Took over an hour to get food. Nothing discounted/apologized at all for. We were pretty much one of three tables in there and it was empty

Very disappointed, i have been there multiple times and had a decent meal good enough to go back but the last time was just awful. i'll start with my drink i order a liquor on the rocks and it was not even a complete poor for I said something and she said that was all she had and would discount it and still charged me $16.00. (side note....went to Whiskey Tavern had my liquor on the rocks and it was a great poor for $14.00) It was a Friday night so I order the primerib had it there before ordered it medium rare it came out medium well and was 1/2 the size of what I received the last time. I then said something to the server and she said she would discount it I wanted her to bring me another piece and she did not, It was 36.00 and she gave me 3.00 off. My husband ordered beet salad and it didn't even fill the plate. I was watching the other bartender make drinks and she put her fingers in every single glass before making the drink.
