I'm giving this dealership two (2) stars. As they said in the 80's, General Motors couldn't market cocaine, and unfortunately, Gilroy Buick/GMC hasn't raised the bar. Our adventure started when me and a friend went to Gilroy Buick/GMC to buy a 2020 Buick Encore that was featured in their ad in the Autotrader. They refused to honor their ad, which listed the sale price at $14,749. First, the actual car was a 2019 (not a 2020). They said that both the model year and the price listed in the ad were mistakes, and the best they could do on the 2019 was $23,000 (that's an approximate amount) or so. In my opinion, this is a classic "bait and switch", designed to get you into the dealership without having any intention of honoring the ad that brought you there. It's a sleazy, bush league deceptive sales practice that probably works on some people, but not us, not today. Use all caution when dealing with these guys. read more

She said "I will put eyes on the car" and get back to you. 2 hours later no response. Okay. At 12 noon I call the sales department and get Steve or Steven, he tells me the car has been sold. Okay. 2 minutes later I get a email from Tariq asking me to come test drive the car. Odd. I tell him that Steve told me the SUV was sold. He sends me a picture of the car still on the lot. Okay. I show him that they had previously offered the car at $26,000 (now asking $26,800 - why? the market for used vehicle is down). I tell him I will drive down (45 minute drive) and buy it right now for the $26,000 it was previously offered at. He calls me back and instead of honoring the previous price and selling the car, Tariq starts talking about "best price for 30-40 miles" yada yada yada. I tell him again that I wont pay more than $26k +tax and fees. He then starts asking questions about financing or paying in cash, about how much I will put down. Sale people don't need that information, the finance team does. Long story short this place just lost out on an easy sale. read more

I saw an advertisement on the Gilroy Buick GMC website for a 2020 GMC Terrain (picture included) listed for $22,256.We had been looking for a while and had found one in Pleasanton but this one had 10,000 less miles and was $1000. more. I called the dealership and talked to Horacio, a very nice young man. I told him we had cash. He spoke a little about financing but I said we have cash. He said 'come in in and we will show you the car.' So we went out early on Saturday morning, 11/5. We live about 42 miles away but it seemed worth it. The car was great and we were ready to buy it. Here's what we found out: -they have no intention of selling that car for that price, and you have to finance it. -you have to purchase their 'Auto Butler' plan for about $3000. No choice. -You have to purchase a 5 Year Extended Warranty for $4000. No other options. -they will not see the car for cash. The most we could put down was $5000. With all of this stuff the car ended up being $30,000! My husband is a business owner and spent sometime talking to the manager. The manager said 'we can't sell that car for $22,256 or we lose money'. My husband was livid! He told him that is dishonest and deceitful. He said 'I run a business. If I end up losing money on a job I contracted for, I take the loss. I honor what I contracted for'. This is not a good way to run a business. A basic machine car wash and polish isn't worth it. I feel like a idiot just giving away $800. They told me I could come back 3 times to re do it every 6 months and when I came today they said no that not how it works, it was only 1 wash for $800 and I was just like WTF. Worse dealership in the area. My father purchased a 2024 GMC Canyon back in March 2024, and he declined all extra add-ons (GAP insurance, repair insurance, etc.), but hey still added these and a bunch of other add-ons. They basically took advantage of him because he doesn't know English and can't read in any language. I called the dealership and they told me the dealership changed owners as of July 2024. I called Hyundai of Gilroy since it is owned by the previous GMC owner, and they told me that half of the add-ons cannot be cancelled (about $9,200). Very bad service. read more

We purchased a new GMC truck in August of 2023 from this place. Along with that purchase, we added a paint protection package where the vehicle receives a coating to protect the paint every 6 months. The cost was nearly $2500. The new owners of this dealership no longer support this service. The attitude we received is "Oh well, that's your problem." This place was very difficult to actually get a human to talk to and obviously aren't concerned about previous customers that still use their service department. Save yourself the trouble and frustration and find another dealership. They also own the Chevrolet and Dodge/Jeep dealerships in Gilroy. The Dodge/Jeep dealership has a terrible service department. We also own a Jeep and have used the service department. We now take that vehicle to another dealer for service. Another word of advice is to not ever take advantage of extra services offered by a dealership because if that dealership changes hands, you may get ripped off like we were. If it were possible, I would have given them zero stars. read more

This is the kind of dealer that gives car dealerships a bad name. A car priced at $15,600 they added $2500 paint protection package that they would not remove. Added a $3000 warranty that they wouldn't remove. $1000 gap insurance they claimed the bank required (this is illegal). Lied and mislead me, submitted my credit to 11 banks and made it hard to get financing at another dealer (and I have excellent credit). In the end the price was $23000 on a $15,500 car and I walked out of the financing office. Absolutely terrible. read more

The service department is trash! They say they do a point to point inspection on your vehicle but they do not. The inspection report said my transmission fluid was at a good level and my headlights checked out ok. Left the dealership to find my front left headlight was not working. Also a couple days later my check engine light came on again because of low transmission fluid. I took my truck back in and they charged me a check engine fee and wanted me to pay for a transmission flush. My truck was running fine before I went here to do a routine mileage tune up. These guys try to extort money out of you. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! read more

EVERY CAR ON THEIR LOT IS $1,295 MORE THAN LISTED. EVERY SINGLE CAR. They add on a NON-NEGOTIABLE "Paint Protection Fee" to every sale, and don't disclose this until after you decide to buy. Yes, it is listed in the fine print, but I of course assumed it was already included in the listed price. I am not as upset about abruptly getting up and walking away in the middle of the sale of a car I really liked -- I am more upset that I was lied to the entire time about the price of EVERY SINGLE CAR I looked at.  This makes it sadly, painfully obvious that Gilroy Buick GMC only cares about money and not their customers. They price their cars low enough to get you in the door. Apparently, because these prices are low, some people are okay with adding an additional non-negotiable $1,295 to the price they expected to pay, so the dealership makes enough money to stay in business and not have a hard loss when people like me, who don't put up with this behavior, stand up and walk away in the middle of a sale. Utterly disappointed.  Thankfully it's a buyer's market since Hertz went belly up. I'm looking forward to seeing what actual deal I can score on a car, with a dealership who respects their customers, their time, and their budgets. One of the smoothest car buying experiences I've ever had. I was able to send a lot of needed information over email/phone. All we had to do was a walk around and do a test drive. Our salesman Desan who helped us out was excellent! Very friendly and personable. I never felt any sort of pressure from him. Even when we sat down to look at numbers he stuck to the price we originally negotiated over the phone and helped us get the that monthly payment we wanted. Now when it came to the dreaded financier... He was excellent too! Tony really took care of us and was very honest and open about all the numbers and didn't try to sneak any extra "goodies" into the price of the car. They obviously asked if I wanted any of the extra protections or warranties, and because he knew I was a serious buyer, and had pretty darn good credit, I did end up buying an extended warranty. I should have listened to my gut, but dad insisted we go and see the car because it's "pretty" online. I drove my dad from SF to Gilroy to see a Lexus LS500. First of all, we came inside the dealership and no one greeted us till 5 minutes after. Go figure while no other customers were shopping. I can't remember the dealership guys name, maybe Mohammad or Isaac, tall skinny young fella. Anyway, he showed us the car and boy was it different from what they advertised. The main issue was that the passenger seat at the back had a huge deep rip that they failed to mention in their listing. My dad test drove the car regardless, and why is this fella not wearing a mask and he's coughing?! Common bruh, be professional if you want to sell. Moving forward, we asked if he can ask his manager if they can fix the seat for us or if they can lower the price of the car. They're answer was NO. OKay then, BYE! Went to look at a truck and they told me it was the weekend sale price and I saw that price on that truck the week before. Told them to send my app to 2 places and they sent it to who they want. Trying to tell me to agree on a payment without telling my wife. Also wanted to give me a lower trade in value on my truck when I told them what I just got it appraised at and they said we used the same system. And the manager tried to tell me also gm can you do this payment and I said no they then said call your wife I can't she works for pd. Then he tried to make a joke about just do the deal and it'll cause a fight between us. The manager also said that if I get your payments to this amount will it work and then I said with what money down and he said I was just saying a number. Why do you say something you don't even know if you can get then. This is the 2nd time I've had a bad time at this dealership and will not be back. I won't even recommend this dealership to anyone. Yarisa, nick & their team did an awesome job on my Yukon. We first took it to Fremont gmc bc it was close to my husband's work & he decided to take it in. We took it in initially bc it was making a humming sound by the floor board & not only cld u hear it u cld feel it. They came back & said they tightened one side on the bearing on the wheel. Sure enough afterwards it was still making that noise so we decided to take it to Gilroy gmc bc it's closer to our house. Yes told Yarisa what happened at the Fremont center & she had the guys inspect it & it first needed a new transmission then they noticed all the bearings were loose. Now no noise or humming, a miracle LOL .Amazing what patience & care can do. I appreciate Yarisa & her teak so much. She communicated all the time with me abt my car & what was happening to it. Yarisa had a lot of patience knowing we wanted to test drive it before we signed any paperwork & she was more than happy to let us do so, all the front desk personnel was. Glad we did because right away we were acknowledged by a young man named Horacio! He was very attentive and helped in every possible way he could. He offered to test drive a vehicle, we went for a ride and decided to try it out. The process went well and smooth with not much time of a wait. Give this place a try if you are looking to buy, they have a good selection of vehicles but make sure you ask for Horacio he's the one to go to!!! I've used Gilroy GMC for regular maintenance and car repairs for five years because their service was great. Ever since they changed owners and replaced their service staff, pricing has gone up and quality has gone down. This last visit was the last straw. I was extremely disappointed and will not be going back. Took 20 minutes to drop off my car, was told by a service associate typing on their phone to wait for someone else. Took 30 minutes to pick up my car, told by the same person as before to wait for someone else. Price was outrageous: cost for an oil change and tire rotation used to be $70, this time cost me $142. Diagnostic cost me $190 to find out the repair would cost me $875 to change an ignition coil and (4) spark plugs including $475 in labor. I bought parts online for $140 and repaired all items in 10 minutes. Absolute rip off and give mechanics a bad name. I'll find somewhere else to get my cars repaired. read more

Sold me a car with a bad battery and then told me to just use the extended warranty that I bought which does not include batteries. you would think they knew that. When they got me there, I was side swiped with the "requirement" to purchase the Auto Butler program that costs $2495.00! I said I didn't want it but they said I was "required" by the dealer in the purchase. There was a part missing from the driver door handle that the Sales Manager promised to replace but it's been close to 4 weeks now and when I ask, my texts are going unanswered! My boyfriend and I bought a brand new 2021 AT4 in February. We paid a lot of money to have specific add-ons to the truck. One of those things was clearance steps. We have called every week to see if "they are in stock" and they STILL are not. We went in and asked for them yesterday and we're told to bring our truck back today. My boyfriend took it back and was told they aren't in his package when it clearly states they are included. Now we are being put on hold AGAIN until they call us, but I guarantee they won't. Do not buy a vehicle from these guys! They are not trustworthy and will do their best to sell you and try and make you feel like you're getting a deal. You aren't. They illegally ran my credit with unauthorized hard inquiries from a number of lenders on my report after I specifically told them to inquire with one bank that has already pre-approved me. Keep in mind, the consumer/customer ALWAYS have the option to choose the lenders. Thankfully, my credit monitoring service alerted me immediately when this happened. I contacted the salesman, Horacio, and demanded they remove the unauthorized inquiries because they can affect my credit score. He told me he'll "talk with the finance manager". Of course I never heard back from them. So I'll be contacting an auto fraud attorney and disputing this with the credit bureaus... These people are highly unethical and I wouldn't recommend dealing with them. read more
