Well, This is the first time at this location. It is nicely updated and clean. The only thing I miss is they don't have subs. But the amount of pizza to choose from makes up for this. Employees were helpful and patient and they keep the line moving during lunch time. The guy on the oven has a crazy job. Making sure the 2 slice pizzas are kept together. Just remember what pizza you choose to make sure you get the correct order. Pizza was good and slices are large. I know next time I will just get one slice. Everything was oh so good! read more

Stopped in for a slice around lunch time . It's their new location so everything is new and clean. Huge selection of pizzas are out for you to choose from but they heat it up for you so it tastes like it was just made. Staff was friendly, pizza came out quickly and was delicious! The main place mall was once busy and thriving, but now unfortunately the entire mall has closed down, every place except "Gino & Joe's. That says a lot from a business when you're still open and making money after an entire mall fails. Their pizza is pretty good too. If you're enjoying a slice inside, there's a bunch of tables to sit at, just not a lot to look at. To to overcome all odds and still be running a successful business, that alone deserves four stars! read more

G&J's is good. Very good. But not five stars good. I'll start with the very good. Generous sized slices. Two are a filling lunch. Crust not thick but on the thicker side and perfectly done. Toppings and cheese are standard for this kind of place, but generous on both. So why only four stats? I'm deducting one for the sauce. Tasted pretty straight out of the can to me. Not saying that's the case, but it was just pretty meh. Better sauce, in my humble opinion, would make this place a must visit. As it is, it is still definitely worth the trip. read more

Overview: I went back here for the first time in 10 years and was delighted it is still the hidden gem I remember! Ambiance: The seating area has plenty of space even though they still sometimes fill up due to popularity. The decor itself isn't much to look at. Food: Oh the food... I can only speak for the pizza and the steak subs since that's all I've ever had there but they are 10/10 fantastic. My last visit I got the steak sub and it is not a "neat-and-pretty" sub but that's part of the charm. One of the things I didn't like was they had a hand-written sign posted asking patrons to adhere to a 20 minute time limit. They didn't enforce it but my opinion is this is a rude business practice. The garbage is usually overflowing and there is this always this weird smell whenever you walk through the front door. But one day, I got desperate-real desperate. I needed a place that would get me food quick, and what gets quicker than pizza? So, I grab a slice of their Buffalo Chicken Pizza. It was satisfaction from the first bite to the last! The Buffalo Chicken Pizza starts with an airy, thin, chewy crust. They then top that off with a blue cheese buffalo wing sauce, grilled chicken, and ooey-gooey cheese. It was one of the best moments of my day. I could not believe how good this pizza was. It was hot, it was chewy, and it was fulfilling. Sometimes I go out of my way to eat here on the weekends. Did you know that there is a mall in downtown Buffalo?? Oh yeah, it surprised me too. Unless you want sneakers or a dashiki there is really no reason to go shopping at this mall. However, there are daily hoards of people who visit this mall en masse. Who are these people you may ask? Why they are the good business men and women who work downtown and need a place to eat lunch...mainly because there are no other feasible options (with the exception of Fables Cafe in the Library, which is a bit more time consuming). I am convinced that if this Mall did not contain the food court it would have been closed a loooooong time ago. So you're downtown for a quick lunch where do you go eat? Hands down your best choice is Gino and Joe's NY Pizza. There are actually two locations in the mall, one in the food court and one on the 1st Floor. I prefer the location on the first floor mostly because there is usually a lot less people, but the food is about the same. However, the food court location employs a guy from "the city" (who's name I forget) who runs the line like the Soup Nazi. It's sometimes a pain in the a$$ because he doesn't give you enough time to ruminate over the many choices, but he is entertaining The quality of the pizza here is top notch. Gino and Joe's style is very similar to Zetti's, and they usually have around 15 different pizzas to choose from that are made fresh daily. You pick your slice(s) and wait for them to heat it up...yeah, its that easy. The specialty pizzas are my favorite here, with the broccoli pizza leading the charge. Another favorite of mine is the sausage roll which is really delicious. The sausage roll is similar to a stromboli, but it is stuffed with a split link of sausage, with lots of stringy mozz and pepperoni. Most days they also have pastelillos (Puerto Rican meat stuffed pies) available which are pretty decent (not my favorite by any stretch but a nice substitute). So next time you are in Family Court fighting for custody or if you are in County Court being indicted on a Felony, assuming they release you without bail, add a little sunshine to your already dreary day and stop by Gino and Joe's for a slice. read more

The slices are generously sized and available in over a dozen varieties at any given time. Prices are reasonable, seating is ample and the menu extends far beyond your typical pizza shop fare and includes freshly made pasta dishes and specialty items. Working downtown this place has to be a staple in your lunch menu. Yes it is pizza, but this is some of the best pizza that you will ever taste outside of Manhattan! There are Gino & Joe's in a couple other places I've lived and I have always been satisfied with their pizzas. Thin crust, big slice, perfect sauce & cheese. I usually don't eat the crust, but this pizza is an exception. If you're a Dawn of the Dead fan...Main Place Mall might remind you of that...slightly different layout...but you'll get the feeling. read more
