Lose the microwave Roy's. Ordered 2 crabcake platters and the sides were fresh but the. Crabcake was reheated in a microwave. Asked the girl at the counter about it and she claimed we do this all the time because when we cook fresh the inside is cold. Sorry but I don't but I don't believe that. Roy's staff was awesome, they were very friendly and super helpful. The place carryout only and a nice size space, full of Maryland stuff!! Roy's Kwik Korner did not have good customer service. I had french toast, and it tasted particularly bland. It's a small eatery that matches its' name on the inside as a corner store type of vibe. I may give them another chance I'm unsure though. read more

I finally made it to Roy's after a couple attempts to go on the weekend. Their hours on Yelp were previously not updated so when I went there the 1st go round, I was saddened doors were closed Saturday afternoon. Few months later, I saw it was updated so I went back during a weekday to finally try their famous Baseball Crab Cake. I ordered a side of fries and while waiting, I chatted with who I believe was the owner and he gave me a complimentary sample of their cream of crab and boy was it delicious! Now onto their signature dish.. the crab cake was indeed the size of a baseball but it was more of the shredded crab meat then whole lump crab meat that was actually in the cream of crab. I was expecting more lump crab but it was still pretty good. The fries were like an upgrades version of checkers fries which has that coating on it. They are thrown into a brown bag to catch all the grease because they were piping hot. I will opt out of the fries next time and try another crab dish or their shrimp cheesesteak which I saw on the special menu after I left. Will check them out again but have to make sure it's a weekday before 7pm. read more

I had the open face roast with gravy, which was a daily special. It came with a side of mashed potatoes. It was a good amount of food and tasted great. The service was quick and friendly. Really nice place In Glen Burnie serves a huge variety of foods. My favorite is the Cream of Crab Soup! Due to Covid-19 you can't walk in anymore you have to call in your order & they bring it out to you. It's convenient but doesn't allow you to pick out your own cakes etc which my experience was that I was given stale cake. I went to Roy's today because I have been craving a Crabcake. Decided on the Baseball Crabcake Platter which came with 2 sides. I chose French fries and Green Beans. IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! Crabcake was thick, lump crabmeat (NO FILLER), seasoned and fried to perfection!! Yummy! YUMMY YUMMMMMMYYY! The green beans were FRESH, not frozen or canned! The french fries were tasty as well! It had been years since I had tried a crab cake from here. I wanted seafoos and it was upset that my friend had flaked on me yet again so I was looking for a spot I could grab something and go. I was just driving around Glen Burnie when I saw this place on the corner and told myself, perfect! I went in and looked at their menu then decided to go with a crab cake sandwich. I assumed it was going to take awhile right? Nope, the gentleman simply took one from behind the counter, hopefully from a refrigerated case, and popped that sucker in the microwave. I wasn't going to knock it just yet because I'm thinking to myself maybe this is what happens in the back of the house at other establisments. Even though this was in the front of the house behind the register LOL. My sandwiche was made how I wanted it and I left. Because I wanted to devour this sandwich and try it out, I was eating it in the parking lot lol. The crab cake was actually really good however I think it would have been better if it was freshly prepared. There was hardly any filler and I could see the look of crab meat along with the mustard that was in it. I got so excited! I didn't get sick or notice an ammonia smell from the crab cake so I'm guessing the reheating method works. This is getting 2 stars based on taste and quality of food alone. The crab cake is made with backfin crabmeat (stringy meat) with a not very tasty filler. I was very disappointed, crab cake leaves a bad taste in the mouth. However, I've been known to be picky on crab cakes. The sides were equally as disappointing. Collard greens were mostly chopped up stems and had absolutely zero flavor. The mash potatoes were either box mashed potatoes or made to taste like they came from a box. Gravy was only thing that could help these mash potatoes and 90% sure this Garvey came from a package. Based on previous reviews, I was expecting a lot better. Roy's is located in a pretty filthy part of Glen Burnie (which is most of Glen Burnie), inside of a building that I assume has to be a former 7-11. Friends assure me that Roy's has been there for a very long time, so maybe that 7-11 was shuffled aside in the 70s. The parking seems scary, because after we parked, someone parked right behind us, blocking us in - but all of the patrons seem used to the limited parking, and are quick to move their car if they see someone returning to their vehicle, so it doesn't appear to be an issue. Ordering is pretty straightforward, as there's a ton of staff behind the counter waiting on you, and the guy running the register is a well-oiled food-packing, cash-stashing, credit card swiping machine. The prices are very reasonable, and though the menu is varied, the clear (and therefore only) choice was the crab baseball. It's so named because of the size of the crabcake. There are plenty of sides to choose from, and you'd be wise to get hush puppies, which are some of the best I've ever had outside of North Carolina. The fries were a little cold by the time I got home (takeout isn't an option, it's the only way you'll eat, there's no seating inside Roy's), but I didn't mind - the hush puppies and crab cake were pretty amazing. Huge portion, plenty of crab, not too much filling, and just the right seasoning. Purchase a platter and you'll get some tasty sides, especially their hush puppies. Honestly, I don't mind this place is a take-out joint because we can just order the stuff and take it somewhere pleasant to eat.
